Going with four stars, but on a good night Wicks can easily be a five star spot. Pizza is good- I suggest the Spinach Alfredo because I sometimes drive across town just for this pizza. The resteraunt is suited to fit any group with any intentions. There's a sit-down resteraunt area for you guys looking or a calm night out. There's a sports bar for anyone looking for a place to drink, eat and watch a game. I recomend U of L games here- it's a riot! Then you have another third of the bar dedicated to trivia and live music! My only reason for holding back that fifth star is the price. I think it is fair and reasonable, but I haven't noticed too many specials for those of us looking for a good deal. They do have a killer offer on Wed nights, but it comes with a college dance party which keeps it off my calendar. Again, the food and beer is good, so no matter who you are and what youre into- Wick's on Baxter is an alright place to check out!

$10 all you can drink and eat.. That's all I need to say.. Get there early enough for a seat!

Wick's Pizza has been a standby for post-game debauchery after LXC kickball games of late. $2 22-ounce beers with 25% off all food was a clear draw at first, but the quality of food and venue has kept us coming week after week. The food is fantastic, service delightful and beer cheap and plentiful. Thursday nights are relatively vacant, but there is typically live music that can be hit-or-miss, and for the sake of socializing the volume could be turned down. The outdoor seating would be better if smokers didn't claim it as their personal spot to exhaust their collection of cartons.

Placed an order and had to ask about it. The order was cold, and the staff forgot to check on it.

Wicks in the Highlands has some of the best pizza that Louisville has to offer. The service is efficient and very helpful. They also have a good beer list.

Food = 4 (good pizza) Price = 3 (not cheap) Experience = 4 (lot's of young patrons... late night fun)

Stopped here on the recommendation of one of my traveling companions who thought this would be a low-key place to enjoy some food and brews during the Derby weekend. Our plan was to avoid the high-traffic areas down town and indulge in some of the time-tested local color. Well, the Bardstown Road area was very busy and this place was packed. We were able to get quickly seated with a fairly large party and get our orders placed by a really kind waitress. Our appetizer order was miffed, and didn't arrive until the very end of our visit but the "Big Wick" pizza we ordered was unique and tasty. It is a very large pie with a crust in the medium-thickness category. A very pale white cheese on top. I was only able to defeat two pieces and it was very satisfying. I appreciated the fact that the order for our appetizer was removed from our bill, and they were able to provide better than adequate service during a very busy period. I am sure that I would really enjoy visiting here during a less intensive business period.

For Wick's to win the best of Louisville Award for pizza, it is an O B V I O U S issue of BALLOT STUFFING.The pizza is the epitome of mediocrity....and this is after several visits. The owner was quoted in the CJ that Wick's is the Jeff Ruby's of pizza in Louisville. PUHLEEZE! Wick's is to pizza as Buffalo Wild Wings is to wings. They're ok at best, and are on par with some chains and better than 1 indy place.....Frolio's. It's really not hard to beat Frolio's. In the race for indy pizza joints in Louisville, they're second to dead last by a long shot. With Papalino's, Coal's, Garage Bar, Harvest, Spinelli's, Boom Bozz, Danny Mac's, Cafe Classico, Impellerzzeri's, etc, Wick's is minor league. I'd even take Dominoes "artisan" over Wick's. I will say that their advantage is the bar atmosphere and friendly service, but that's it. I could serve Jeno's pizza rolls with great service. (I know, Wick's is better than Jeno's or most supermarket pizzas) but of course that isn't saying much. M E H, good for a filling lunch or drunk night out....that's about it.

I'm a local and have tried every pizza place. Best pizza in town. A must for anyone visiting louisville.

The food has always been pretty good at Wick's. Unfortunately, the service has been some of the worst I've ever had. Had dinner there last night with two guest. Had to wipe down our own table and finally had a waitress come by in about 5 minutes. Received our drinks in a timely manner and placed our order. Never had our wait staff come back again. Had to get up and get our own refills, even after attempting to get her attention which was ignored. Had to go ask the kitchen for a carry out box and my check. Had a similar experience the time before as well. Not sure if this is a management/ staffing issue or a wait staff issue. Either way I won't be back. The 2 stars are for the food, service is a 0.

Was in town for a week. Ordered a bacon pep pizza and it was delicious. Im from Chicago and I know pizza. This pizza is quality. Highly recommend when in Louisville. I will be ordering again when I'm back here.

This place was busy but we got a table right away. Waitress was very good, one of the best we've had in a long time. Always attentive to drinks and food. Beer was fresh and cold. Cider Boys Cranberry Road on draft is not too common to find but they had it and it was good! Pizza was very good. No skimping on cheese or toppings here. Hand tossed crust was tasty as well. Live music seemed good too, only heard a little before we left. Wanted to try tie die cheesecake but too full, so next time.

I agree, it's good pizza. I'm from Philly, so it's not all that, but much better than a chain, it's got a unique taste and its worth a go. I ordered for delivery to my hotel and one thing I was not prepared for is that this pizza is cheese city and heavy duty. This ain't no weight-watchers pizza pie. I got the 12-inch, would have been more than full with the 10-inch pie.

What can I say? The pizza is good. For me, I tried the "Big Wick" full of meat and veggies. The crust is crisp and not too heavy. The sauce is just right, not overpowering but does have flavor. Lastly, the toppings are over-abundant, but in a good way! This is definitely one of the top pizzas that I have had in Louisville so far. I do have to say that the service was a bit slow. We went to the bar for our first round of drinks because no one was coming to our table. Our waitress was apologetic, however, and things improved from there. I will definitely enjoy Wick's Pizza again and I encourage you to check it out.

Just ate here for lunch. We ended up getting a good ole pepperoni pizza even though the menu boasts a variety of specialty pizzas (w/chicken, veggies, and dressings etc). The sauce is great, I appreciated how hearty and zesty it was versus being a thin, typical tomato sauce. The cheese is also deliciously creamy, stringy and generously added on top of the pepperonis. Apparently they only use 100% whole milk cheese. The only drawback was that we seemed to have waited a while for our simple order of 2 Pepsis and a 12" pepperoni pizza when the restaurant wasn't necessarily packed.

  • Lee M.

The service here is so bad I can barely contain myself. We had a table of 10. After our first drink order the waitress had to be flagged down every time we needed anything - water, pizza, beer - and took 40 minutes to bring the check. Very nice person - couldn't tell though if she was really busy or just not paying attention. The staff seem to be having a blast hanging out with each other, but customers are not their priority.

Wick's has caused Wednesday night to become my favorite night of the week. When I first heard of their $10 all you can eat pizza and unlimited domestic draft beer I was skeptical. But it more than lived up to my expectations. The pizza is a buffet, but still much better than any of the large chains (Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc) and the draft beer choices are pretty standard (Miller, Bud, Amber Bock, etc). I had more than my fair share of pizza and beer and definitely feel like I got my moneys worth. This will probably become my go to place on Wednesday evenings from now on.

Many locals tell me to try here, so one day I came here... .Good pizza, but I must admit I'm a bit snobbish. I feel you'd find college students here, more for food and fun. But then again, that's why this place is here on Bardstown road.

Wicks hasn't won the "Best of Louisville" every year since 1867 for no good reason! Hands down the best Pizza in the entire city! If your not in the pizza mood, then I highly recommend the Hot Sicilian. Nearly everything on the menu is dope. Trust me! P.S. They have a nice selection of something called "beers."

Was stationed at Ft. Knox for a bunch of years. It wasn't till I discovered Wicks that made me believe pizza wasn't dead west of New England. A different take on pizza with toppings then cheese. Makes it so much better. I am no longer in KY and I think of Wicks like the girl who got away!

The pizza really wasn't that good and was kind of expensive for what it was, but the customer service was amazing!

Whenever I'm in Louisville (okay, like twice) I visit Wick's. Their pizza is fantastic, with a great thick crust and lots of cheese. But honestly, what I dig the most is the sauce. Their sauce has this great sweetness to it, very unique. I'm a big fan.

Right in the thick of things where Bardstown Road merges into Baxter, Wick's Pizza is a popular, chill, hang out. Wednesday night it is the place to be with $10 all you can eat pizza and draft beer. Count me in. Bikers, frat guys, it is pretty diverse. Not my favorite pizza, but it's pretty good. And especially at that price!

On our weekend trip to Louisville, we decided to head to the Bardstown Road bars instead of hanging out downtown on Saturday night. We stopped by 5-6 bars before trying this one. Upon entering this bar we were slapped in the face with the stench of vomit, pickles and cat litter. There were maybe 5 people in the bar and 2 of them were actually eating. We left as soon as we walked in. This place was gross.

First of all, it would take a great pizza for me to give out five stars. Only Chicago, New Jersey and New York pies have ever gotten 5 stars from me. Having said that, this is GOOD pizza. It is not Chicago or New York style. It is a good crust with fresh and tasty ingredients. Next time I am in Louisville, I will be stopping at Wick's!

    (4)
  • Michael C.

Try. You like...... Drinks are pricey but the fantastic pizza makes up for it. Tried the 'mexican pizza' for the first time and was satisfied but at the same time a little disappointed in it. The 'Big Wick' is always a favorite as well as the all veggie. The 'mighty meaty' is good if you want that much meat but be prepared for the after effects! Still all in all my favorite pizza in Louisville.

  • David K.

Not my favorite. Sauce has a heavy taste of green pepper and the crust is a bit thick. The night we were there they certainly didn't have enough wait staff.

We are new to Louisville and 1st off Louisville has a million restaurants, so we picked Wick's to be our 1st pizza adventure. You can't really mess up pizza right? But there are those pizza places that really knock you off your feet. Wick's was so so, nothing to write home about or nothing that we will take our guest to. The atmosphere is neat, the service staff was friendly and the location is good. The pizza was stacked high with toppings which was nice. There was very little sauce on the pizza (my husband loves saucy pizza). The cheese looked like frozen pizza cheese and tasted about the same, not much flavor. The crust was so so as well. Nothing about the pizza was bad per say but as I said before you can't really mess pizza up right?

Amazing locally owned pizza pub. Best pizza ever - even compared to New York & Chicago. Recommend the "Big Wick"

After moving, I offered to buy my friends pizza. Since I had just gotten here, I asked them where I should go. Immediately they said Wick's. It was definitely delicious, just a little pricier than I had expected. With a Highlands VIP card (which my friend has), you get a free order of breadsticks (also delicious). I'll definitely be back, but perhaps next time I'll just get delivery. This place is HUGE and has several doors. I made the mistake of entering through the bar door, and felt like a total ass when everyone (including the bartender) just stared a me like I had five heads instead of pointing me in the right direction.

Pretty expensive for mediocre food - & it took forever to arrive on an uncrowded Sunday evening. The waitress was very nice though. Will probably not be returning.

Awesome service, but so-so Pizza. My girlfriend and I came in on a Saturday night around 11 pm. Rachel came right on over, cleaned off our table and had drinks to us in minutes. Service was good! Unfortunately, the pizza was just okay. Being that my girlfriend is from Chicago and is a "pizza snob" we have been in search for the best pizza Louisville has to offer being that its only a few hours drive from Chicago. Anyway, the pizza didn't knock my socks off, but wasn't the worst I had either. Good spot to hang out and just chill though.

Generally, my experiences with Wick's have been passable. Not particularly remarkable, but not unpleasant either; much like meeting yet another dude named Josh. This time, however, was bad enough to warrant Wick's hitting my shit list. I ordered the chicken fajita sandwich with a Blue Moon while my lady - an avid chicken finger consumer - ordered her favorite poultry morsels with a Mountain Dew, which, I'm suspicious, was responsible for the ragtag crew of extreme dudes doing BMX backflips while deliberately setting themselves on fire that made an appearance shortly after. Anyway, I digress. Our waitress was not rude or unpleasant, but I really think she forgot our order because not only did it take an unnecessarily long amount of time, but it seriously tasted like it'd been microwaved and served to us. The sandwich was really bland. The chicken had no flavor and the peppers were ground so small you couldn't taste them. My GF's chicken nuggets were also tiny, and tasted horribly. They seriously seemed like supermarket nuggets that were nuked and tossed on our plate. The food was also overpriced. Our tab was nearly $30 which was steep, considering the chicken nuggets didn't even come with fries or anything. But hey, the Blue Moon was good!

Great pizza, lots of toppings on the specialty pies. We ordered the smallest size Wicks special on the recommendation of our server. That was a great recommendation... The beer selection is awesome, wheat on tap to anchor steam and plenty others to keep the beer drinkers happy. The place is a little confusing and does get college-ee after about 9 pm. So, if you have a problem with crowds or noise or people having their fun that way, go earlier in the evening...

In Chicago there are 2 kinds of pizza - gut busting 4 inch thick monstrosities (aka deep dish or stuffed) or a horrifyingly bland cracker crust. I abhor the cracker and the others can only be consumed once a year at the most lest you risk keeling over into your cheese & sausage slice. I had heard Wick's pizza was pretty good so we went one night for dinner. This location is huge, taking up 3 storefronts and offering outdoor seating. We sat in the dark main room and ordered a few beers along with a salad and the Grilled Fajita Pizza. Since I am not a big fan of ranch dressing and dont see what it has to do with fajitas anyway, we changed it to a red sauce. The pie comes with seasoned, grilled chicken, red & yellow peppers, and two kinds of cheese. Everything was good, but what sold it for me was the crust. Big and fluffy, it actually held together when you bit into it and tasted good! FYI East Coasters - this does not resemble NY style 'za in any way. If I had to compare it to anything it would be like a Boboli crust. But if you are in cracker hell like I am you will definitely appreciate and savor this!!!

My first pizza delivery in Louisville, and it was definitely "meh". I really liked the menu, and some of the flavor combinations were really cool. However, the crust is thick and doughy and not crispy at all, and that really bugs me. Also, I ordered two 12" pizzas (one spinach alfredo, one pepperoni/black olive), and it was $37!! I was shocked! Especially since most of what you are paying for is bread dough and not toppings, this is really overpriced. This also means that you'll fill up quicker since most of what you're eating is bread and not toppings. Two of us finished the equivalent of one 12". The sauce here is sweet and not at all spicy, so if you like a sweeter sauce thicker crust, you will probably like Wick's! One good thing about this place - they use whole-milk cheese, so that part is darned tasty!

Wick's is a fantastic pizza parlor in a great Louisville neighborhood. We literally stumbled on it when visiting from Indianapolis, and a month or so later we gladly drove the 2 hours down on a sunny Sunday afternoon simply to have their pizza. We can highly recommend a traditional pizza with hamburger and jalapeno! They pile on the toppings and cheese, so you won't leave hungry.

  • Jarrod L.

The pizzas have good thick crusts (what a New Yorker would call Sicilian crust, but not as absurdly thick as what a Chicagoan thinks of as thick crust). The dough also has great flavor. The pizzas are pretty expensive though: our 12" was $18.50. There are ~15 beers on tap, and even more bottled. They serve the drafts in pints and 23oz glasses. I was surprized at how slow it was for a Friday night, but maybe everyone was partied out from NYE.

We went there on a Saturday night for a family celebration with another couple. We got a table in 5 minutes despite the filled dining rooms. Atmosphere: is a little loud, but fitting. The tables on the bar side have flat screen satellite TVs in your booth. You can pull the TV out and change the channel on the box behind the TV. We loved that. Pizza: Was great. We moved from Chicago and are very critical of pizza. Wicks was flavorful, had plenty of toppings, was larger than expected, and the menu gives tons of options for all kinds of pizza eaters. Tips: -The hostess stand is at the back of the restaurant, between the bar section and the classic dining room section. -The Bacon Ranch pizza is good the first day, and GALACTIC the second day as leftovers. Love the place, WILL be back.

The pizza is decent, and they have this yummy "Wicksadilla" that's basically pizza crust folded over cheese which is unbeatable, but the best part of Wick's is the nightlife. Very laid back and a young crowd. Crowded but only to the point where you feel like the place is happening. Wednesday's are fantastic, $10.50 gets you all the domestic drafts you can drink (granted, out of a plastic cup) and all the buffet pizza you can eat starting after 9:30, I think. The bartenders range from the polite to the dismissive, but the bouncers are teddy bears. Live music there is always pretty decent and there's a great back area with pool tables and the like if you want a break from the volume.

Wicks is an awesome joint with a great atmosphere and friendly servers. We've gone 3 times and the last time we went was on Christmas night. The side dishes aren't worth getting, as there is a lack of originality and basic filler food. The pizza is decent with a fairly tasty crust that wasn't too heavy. I've had better, but I still enjoy Wicks. My favorite is the 18' mushroom pizza for under $20. Plus, the leftovers from the pizza are awesome too. We'll definitely go again because the price is unbeatable for their pizza.

  • Jon B.

The pizza is okay... it's acceptable for the Louisville area, but not amazing if you appreciate a good NY slice. What makes Wick's enjoyable is the overall environment. Its a fun, popular dining establishment that is also a decent drinking hole. I never get a pizza there without grabbing a pitcher too. Will I go back? Yes. Do I brag about Wicks? No

One of my favorite places to enjoy a college football game, if you decide to go there for an NFL game you better be a Bengals fan, not a great place to be a Steelers fan, but a bartender is a fan so the Steelers are always on. They have two bar areas which is nice, one is a stage area that has multiple bands, and its a great atmosphere. The other bar is nice, each booth has its own little flat screen TV which is great. They also have multiple flat screens around the bar with HD so it makes for a great sports place. The food is alright. The pizza is definitely the specialty everything else leaves a bit to be desired. Overall, great atmosphere, great service, and ok food. Still a place I will go to watch a game.

See: my last meal. Wick's is, hands down, my favorite pizza in the world. Yes, folks, I have lived in Chicago. I have lived in New York. I will take Wick's. I have brought New Yorkers to their knees with the Big Wick. A friend in Florida has called and begged to have them FedEx it to her. And every time I'm home, it's the last place I eat so that I can stuff the foil-wrapped leftovers in my bag for the long plane trip home.

The pizza is OUT OF THIS WORLD good. The bar quickly became my favorite and my watering hole the entire time I lived in Louisville, Kentucky. The bartenders are some of the best people you will ever meet. Personally, my favorite was always Angela. Angela is the best at making shots I have ever seen and can pretty much make anything... Not only is she the world's best bartender, she is an incredible person and I always enjoyed coming in while she was behind the bar. The rest of the bartenders are great as well. I lived in the Highlands about a block and a half away from Bardstown Road so I found myself in Wicks almost everyday for the food, and to share a couple of drinks with all my other fellow "regulars" as well. Other than the pizza, Wicks has much more to offer when it comes to great food. They have an EXCELLENT Stromboli that you must try if you arent feeling pizza. Wings are pretty money there as well. You will never go wrong with Wicks in the Highlands. OH, and if you an NFL fan and it is football season, this is by FAR THE BEST NFL bar I have ever been to. It is so much fun watching games there. Although it is supposedly a "Bengals/Bungals Bar" you will find fans of many, many different teams there all in groups. There is a large amount of Redskins fans (known as the Louisville Hogs Official Fan Group), a number of THE Pittsburgh STEELERS Fans (Go Black and Gold), as well as Vikings, Broncos, Falcons, and Eagles fans... It is still my favorite bar in general and NFL bar by far to this day. I find myself back there and will always when I return to Louisville, Kentucky.

Wick's has its advocates. I don't see this as the be-all of Louisville pizza but it's definitely right up there. However, I came in here on a Saturday afternoon and ordered some non-pizza, hoping to be surprised. No surprise was forthcoming. The kitchen was short and it took nearly 40 minutes for our meal to arrive. The waitress did a good job of letting us know about the situation. I guess I want Wick's to be as solid a "family" Italian eatery as I've found in other towns but it falls short of that.

  • Rebecca O.

The pizza was really awesome, so so good. Maybe we just went there on an off day, but the service was super slow and we had to wait forever for the pizza and forever for the bill. I think they were understaffed that day.

Great pizza...but get delivery. The inside of this place leaves a little bit to be desired. (Remember when you were little and your Mom and Dad took you to Pizza Hut and all you noticed were the crumbs, half uneaten crusts, crumpled napkins, etc on the carpet of the restaurant?) That is Wick's. I guess the good news is they don't apologize for who they are.

  • Jesse W.

As a pizza joint, this place is great; the pizza is delicious and the restaurant feels like a fun, simple, low-brow, pizza joint. As a bar, I'm not much of a fan, but it seems to be pretty popular for lot of folks.

If I didn't work across the street from Wick's, I would have definitely given this fine establishment five stars. However, the five to ten pounds I've put on since getting so close, makes them lose a star. Damn you! The Big Wick is amazing, and well worth it if you think you can tackle it. It is a monster. You don't have to just get the Big Wick to be happy. I personally like their meatball sub and pasta bakes as well, and they are always willing to pour you a nice 22 oz. draft whenever you need it. I usually only hop in there for lunch or an occasional after work beer, but have had the opportunity to roll in there at night. Usually there is hip hop, or a band playing on Fri. and Sat. and the place gets packed. Having a few bars in the surrounding area really opens up the potential to squeeze in some serious bar hopping. I of course refrain from that activity in my old age.

pretty good pizza. i like a thicker crust and this definitely was thicker than most places. had the 10 inch pizza which is good for 1 hungry person, or could be a lunch and dinner for 1 if you arent that hungry. could use a bit more sauce though.

I had heard several favorable reviews and was in the area and decide to stop in for dinner. The restaurant itself is dated and somewhat dreary and clearly not the calling card for Wick's. Nor was the service on my first-ever visit. I waited for the waiter to appear for quite some time and finally someone did come to take my drink order (a manager?). He was very friendly and eventually returned with my drink order and placed my food order. I ordered the 10" mighty meaty pizza--and it definitely was just that. Mounds of meats (Italian sausage, pepperoni, beef, ham, and bacon) with a heaping helping of cheese. A real meal even for the hungriest appetite. It was very good and full flavored. The crust could have been a tad bit more crisp (my personal preference) but all in all, it was excellent pizza and easy to see to why it's one of the top-rated pizzas in the city year in and year out. The pizza was served by a different person who also checked back with me so I'm not really sure who my server was supposed to be. The service was not as good as the pizza, but in the end, it was the pizza that mattered.

I'm a Louisville native now living in Florida. EVERY TIME I come home to visit I come here for my favorite pizza! Service is always good, you're never rushed. In all of my decades eating here the food is always consistently delicious! On a side note, parking can be an ordeal, so if you're meeting people at a specific time, allow yourself plenty of time to find a parking spot!

Wick's is a Louisville staple. Everybody, all over the city, knows about Wick's. Everyone has been to Wick's. Likes to eat at Wick's. Wick's. Wick's. Wick's. I rate Wick's about a 3 1/2 star. I thought about rounding down, but the more I thought about it, I feel like Wick's is more of a 4 star than a 3 star. The Good. The pizza is really nice. I can't complain here. Nice bread, nice cheese, good amount of toppings, solid selection... The service is good too. I thought about skipping over this, but it shouldn't go without mentioning. The people that work at Wick's are friendly. The location is great. You can't beat it. Walking distance from some of the best bars in Louisville. They have live music playing fairly often. If you like that sort of thing, Wick's is for you. It's usually good, old school rock or something similar. Tough to beat. The restaurant has a lot of seating. A LOT of seating. You'll probably never have to wait for a table. The Bad. The prices are too high for what you get, I'm afraid. This place is somewhat expensive. And I don't mind paying good money for pizza (see Clifton's and Impellizeri's). But Wick's just isn't as good as other Louisville pizza joints, in my opinion. I like Wick's more than all the chain pizza joints, and I like it more than Bearno's. But that's probably the list. I wouldn't drive across town to eat at Wick's, but if someone wants to go, you won't have to twist my arm to get me to tag along.

Good pizza and cold beer! Sports bar type atmosphere. They have great pizza and good beer. In the booths you can customize your own channel, so you can watch what ever you want while sipping on a cold beer and eating yummy pizza. They offer a kids pizza for $5.49. They are open late and offer a great atmosphere.

Wick's is one of my favorite pizza's in Louisville. Definitely in my top three, which makes it deserving of five stars. The pizza is exactly the way I like it. The crust is just right: not too thick and not too thin. They make an awesome garlic butter that is perfect for dunking the crust. And Wick's doesn't skimp on any part of the pizza. There's a nice, thick layer of zesty sauce. Then comes a pile of delicious toppings. You can never have too many toppings, and Wick's knows this. Finally, they heavily smother everything in gooey cheese. To finish, the pie is sprinkled with tasty seasonings. Pure pizza perfection, in my book. If this is the kind of pizza you like, you can't go wrong with Wick's.

First time here, and was very pleased. Tried the Mighty Meaty, a version of a meat lovers pizza. It was DELICIOUS. Seriously the most amazing meat lovers pizza I have ever had. Friends had The Big Wick. I'm not one for too many veggies on pizza but it sure looked amazing.

I came to this location after having a bad experience at another Wicks location. I'm glad I did. It was almost like an entirely different company. The service here was quick, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and it's easy to see why Wicks has such a great fan following. STOP whatever you are doing and run to Wicks on Baxter Ave, you won't regret it

I was made aware (see comments on my first review below) that my opinions may be outdated. I have not been to Wicks in the last couple of months so, take that into consideration, as they have apparently made some changes (that I would probably be in favor of). After my next night at Wicks I will update this review. Also, I have not tried the pizza in at least six months so it is very possible these recent changes have improved what I pointed out in my review. This, too, I will update at some point.

How many times have you dined out and thought, "I must have ordered the wrong thing"? I think that's what happened the first time I ate at Wicks. My Wife and I were in need of food and booze after a hard work week. Wick's was there to deliver a fun evening that was greatly needed. One of the things I'm going to like about Louisville is that happy hours are legal. My home state of Illinois outlawed them decades ago. So I was pleasantly surprised to find the $2 domestic beer and 1/2 price appetizers Wicks was offering. The star of the show was the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. I rank this as one of the best Pizza's I've ever ate. And that says a lot considering I was born and raised in Chicago. Also known as the Pizza capital of the world. This monster of a pie had just the right amount of kick to make it mouth watering. I'm glad we gave Wicks another try. We were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic food, cheap happy hour booze and great service. I can't wait til our next visit.

Food was good. I always order a Stromboli on wheat and an Arnold Palmer. My server Kim was wonderful. Three different managers stopped by asking how everything was. Well there were only 5 tables. Maybe thats why. This place used to be packed at lunch. I don't know why its not so much now. The third woman came by and again asked how everything was. This time I offered great, except for the country music. She exclaimed that she liked it. I explained it used to be all Rock n Roll, then some manager from Indiana came over and started playing country. She defensively told me she was from Indiana and liked country music. I told her I was from Indiana too. She just stared at me. I felt uncomfortable and decided my experience here today was not enjoyable.

I wanted to give Wick's 4 stars. But my experiences here have been so hit and miss. Daily, Wick's has great drink specials and food specials. I love the pizza, probably my 3rd favorite pizza in town. Their cheese sticks are awesome. I've tried a few subs and not that impressed. I've had better ones from Subway. Customer service is hit and miss. To be fair, it may have been bad/slow at times due to how crowded the bar is. With that said, the owners and management should step in or staff better.

Wick's is one of my favorite pizza places in Louisville. I love the laid-back atmosphere, beer specials, and creative pizza pies. It's one of my favorite places to catch a big game or hang-out with friends after work. I recommend the Buffalo Chicken Pizza or the Works! Wicks also has a lot of great specials like Upsize Thursdays where you get a larger pizza at the smaller size price, pint nights, trivia nights, and on Wednesday you buy a large pizza and 2 sites free. They also have a great live music scene.

Sorry Wick's, but you're about to get another no-so-pleasing review. Pizza should be simple. Pizza Parlors should be able to provide good pizza in a timely fashion. I felt like this was not the case with Wick's. With a party of 12, we walked into an OK paced lunch hour. We were seated and everything was going fine. We ordered and knew it would be a while to get everyone's orders out. But to have some of the table finishing and other parts just starting was crazy. One person in the party found hair in their food. The GM came quickly to resolve the matter regarding the hair, but didn't address the timeliness of the food. I was ok with my pizza and salad, which was filling. I just didn't like that you could not order a slice of the specialty pizza with the lunch special. This would be my recommendation to Wick's. This way, you are able offering 2-3 of Wick's fav's or popular specialty pizzas to decrease on wasted food and get people hooked on them as well. I feel that Wick's lost out on an opportunity to feature its specialty pizzas but not doing this. The lunch menu was a little confusing to read. The decor was older with lots of old murals on the wall. They could use some updating. There appears to be a large bar next door, but I didn't visit there. I'm not sure if this place is worth the trip.

Awesome Big Wick pizza! We are Chicagoians so it's hard to judge food bc we are so used to excellence but the Big Wick was by far the best pizza I've had outside of ChiTown... must try place in Louisville!!!

Bar food, two thumbs up, street side, nice people... worth a visit if you want the above. Medium to low pricing.

You know the Clash song "Overpowered by Funk"? Well this pizza is overpowered by cheese. Which is a shame, because I really liked the sauce and would have liked the reverse proportion. The sauce was very tomato paste-y, so, rich in flavor and zero chunks. Unfortunately the all-cheese show also meant very little toppings. I wasn't sure if I had spinach or a little accidental parsley on my pie. The crust is okay - a firm thin - but again, shouted down by the cheese. On the other hand, Wick's was open for business on Oscar night. Locals might recall that as the Sunday of Unmerciful Deadly Winter Storm Weather, when the temperature spent all day in the low 30s and there was intermittent precipitation. As a non-local, I considered it a tolerable winter day. But to our dismay, places were closed left and right, due to weather (looking at you, among others, Frazier History Museum). Another pizza place we'd been interested in took the time to answer the phone in order to tell us they were closed. ?? So Wick's gets a star for simply being open when they ought to have been.

Wick's is a Louisville establishment. You have to try it at some point if you are here. It's one of the heartiest pizzas in town. The Big Wick is a monstrous heaping of toppings and cheese. The calzones are pretty tasty too. Sandwiches and appetizers are a bit mediocre, but let's be honest, we're here for the pies. The restaurant is group and family friendly. It's nice to go sit outside and people watch on a warm day. Located in convenient walking distance to some of the more happening bars at the Bardstown and Baxter intersections, it's a great place to start your evening.

I used to come to wicks often when I was growing up- after moving to nyc, hadn't had a chance to come back until now. I've always loved the pizza (the bbq chicken is the best!), but also had such a great customer service experience provided by our server Jamie. She went above and beyond to make sure my parents and I had a great experience! Looking forward to coming back next time I come visit louisville!

Never eaten there, just picked up. Their pizza, however, is way too cheesy for my taste. That's the way Louisvillians like it, though.

I'm bumping it up to 3 stars because the owner was gracious enough to reach out to me and offered to make improvements. It shows she genuinely cares about the customers and her business.

A local recommended this for lunch and I was not disappointed. The service was friendly, the food came fast, it was delicious and reasonably priced. It's definitely a place to check out for lunch when you only have a short time and want something yummy.

So.... our family had a group of 14 in the pool room. We ordered 3 appetizers- they came out the same time as all of the pizzas everybody else ordered. In fact, some people got their entrees and finished them before we got our flippin' appetizers! Our server was very apologetic, but there really is no excuse for the bad service at a place that has this high profile.get it together wick!

Wicks has a huge seating area and adjacent bar. It's a great place if you want to go, get a pie, and watch the game. I'm not a fan of their pizza (it's too thick and the cheese tasted cheap), but everything else about this place sends off a good vibe. We brought our kid which they accommodated well. It can get pretty lively in there which is what you want when you go out for pizza and catch a game on TV.

We come on Tuesday nights for trivia. It's a good, fun time! (It doesn't hurt that my team often wins...) One of the bartenders in that back room is fantastic (I don't know their names) and totally on the ball. The other one is a little more aloof and it is difficult to get her attention to order food or a drink....even if she has just finished taking the order of the person right next to you. I've had a few of their food offerings. Once I got the spinach salad. It was huge! Plentiful toppings. Really good. Last night I shared the Sicilian pizza with some of my friends. The toppings were great. It had a little too much sauce on it for my taste, but that is a personal preference. So. I am 100% sure I will be back, if only for trivia and drinks alone.

Buffalo chicken pizza FTW! House salad is meh - dont bother. Jalapeno poppers are strangely made - jalapenos are stuffed inside of a piece of pizza dough and baked. They were good, but if you were expecting the real deal you might be disappointed. Also, happy hour drinks are quite weak (I know, what did I expect) but tasty nevertheless. My waitress was super attentive and nice. Cute place.

I can give 5 stars on the service and I hope that the crowd you have for trivia can sustain the night. People are fickle. I was not the only one unhappy about the empty high tops. I understand people coming in and grabbing tables. I have accompanied a friend that has done that and had drinks with her before trivia started. She goes every Tuesday. She talks about it so much it creates a buzz. Someone like myself that on my second day at a new job talked my entire department into going there. We stayed for trivia but left and went else where to eat and continue drinking. I have been there on other occasions with empty tables that were reserved and left. You won't expand your client base for trivia that way. If people come early they should sit at their tables so guests like us don't get this impression. Thanks for responding. If you find your Tuesday's have empty tables let me know. I might come try it again. There were enough seats empty at the high tops that would have accommodated us though. Just an FYI.

Food is good, especially if you liked doughier, thicker pizza. As someone from the east coast, I prefer thin crust, but I appreciate good pizza - and Wick's is pretty good. This is a three star review because of service. After ordering online and waiting 2 hours for delivery, we called the store and asked about the delivery. They said it would be there shortly. 45 minutes later, still no food. Called again, they said it'd be there shortly. Food finally came 3 hours after the order. The delivery person was polite and apologetic, and the manager gave us 75% off. Sandwiches were good (but, of course, cold at this point) and the store did attempt to make it up to us with the discount.

I've only been to Wick's once and it was an overall decent experience, nothing in particular stands out to me. The service was okay, the atmosphere was okay (a little noisy perhaps) and the pizza itself was okay. On the greasy side, for sure, and a very thick crust. A large is freaking huge and my boyfriend had leftovers for days! I'd go back if I was really craving pizza and Wick's was the closest joint, but I'm sure there are better pizza places in the city. :)

We ate at Wicks today and this Louisville institution is still running like a top like it always has. The pizza was great matched only by the service. What a great atmosphere not only on a Sunday for football but any time of day! Keep up the good work!

I was dragged here on Wednesday night. I was not at all thrilled. I don't get out much but it was at about the time when a drunk sweaty guy had rubbed up against me for the 50th time while I waited for two ghetto preppy women to get done blocking what little walk way there was so they could take a duck lip selfie for facebook that I realized just how much I hate people in general. My misanthropy aside the pizza was sub par the music was ungodly loud and no one was even bothering to keep things clean. Avoid pizza raves. Went to a quiter pub with room to walk around in afterward. I will give it it's fair shot on a normal day when they don't have their unlimited pizza and beer deal.

Awesome! Went with 4 friends for girls night out. Decided on the Boss' Choice - a 14" thinner crust and lighter on the cheese and sauce. The five of us shared two pizzas and a couple side salads and left incredibly full and happy. Even the house salad was shareable. My favorite was sun dried tomato, spinach, and portobello mushrooms. Delightful!

The service here is hit & miss. The staff is friendly and polite but sometimes slower than I'd like. I get that it's busier than a lone flea in a fur factory. That just means you need more staff. The Big Wick is a tasty pile of cheesiness and never fails to make us all fall into a food coma. Good stuff.

Some excellent pizza. I always make it a point to come here every time I am in Louisville. I usually get the Big Wick, but my friend talked me into the Cajun Chicken pizza the last time, which was great. They also have a comprehensive beer list to complement the pizza.

Terrible terrible.. 2 large pizzas cost $70.43 .. Crazy.. Crust was burnt.. 12 year old kids didn't even like it.. Again I say.. $70.43 for 2 two pizzas.. Really !!!

There are soooo many places to get pizza in Louisville, but I must say, Wick's is my personal favorite. Wicky Wednesdays are weekly from 9-12pm (pretty sure) and mean that you pay $10 and get unlimited draft beer and pizza from the basic pies they set out (usually cheese, pepperoni, and sausage are the choices). They also turn the back room into a club with a DJ and dancing. If that's your thing, this location is great because it's right at Baxter and Bardstown which is a fun area. However, what I really like best about Wick's is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Mmmmm it is divine. My only complaints are that other than Wednesday nights, I do think the pizza is kind of expensive ($15.50 for the 10 inch version of my favorite BCP), and sometimes it is so busy that I've had to park pretty far down the road to find a place on the street.

  • Elizabeth P.

The pizza is so good! Cool atmosphere and great beer! Annoying customers that seem to be regulars. Can't really blame the place for that except for the fact that the bartenders kept feeding them huge shots of liquor. Based on the food, beer and our waitress though I would visit again :)

  • Isaque F.

Their specialty pizza is just amazing. 3 of us had the Mighty Meaty Wick's and it was enough to satisfy everyone and have leftovers. Other than the slow and hard to hear person who took the order over the phone, it was great

Food is awesome and prices are good. Always a decent place to go and hang out, as long as I'm looking to just get a few beers and relax. The pizza is spot on. I will continue to return for these reasons. Just another good hang out spot on Bardstown Rd. However, on my visit last night I was fairly disappointed with the service. Our waitress was kind and friendly, but slow to take our orders and bring our checks. This is typical of Wick's. I just make sure never to go there if I'm in an impatient mood. The A.C. was also dripping on our table, which was commented on in a "yeah-that-sucks" fashion, but nothing was really done about it. Dining with a few intelligent people, we just moved the table over a few feet to solve the issue. Live music started early and was very loud. The music was good, mind you, but definitely made our dinner conversation difficult. This is also typical. Overall - I love Wick's pizza and I love Bardstown Rd., but I just have to take these faults into consideration. I recommend sitting outside and planning to sit back and be patient. It's worth the wait.

Really great food, from my experience of going there three times. Great service, and the location is perfect. Not much of a family place, because of the bar scene. But great for groups of friends. You can even find a band playing on some days. But I definitely recommend go try out the pizzas!
