Having grown up in Lexington and frequenting the Tumbleweed by my house all throughout my childhood, I was very excited upon moving to Louisville to see how many tumbleweed locations there were! However, the experience hasn't been as great as I remembered growing up... We'll focus on just this location, in the spirit of Yelping best practices. Looks like this location, maybe all, I'm not sure, are rebranding themselves and promoting catering and large parties. That being said, my experience with this location was a wedding rehearsal dinner for a party of about 30 followed by catering the reception the next day. Let's focus on food. Tumbleweed should really focus on what they know best - tex mex. That is what they're known for, not steaks or salmon or the such. The meal the first night was nothing to brag on (although those twice baked potatoes were good!). I was glad I got the salmon, even though it was dry, it was better than everyone around me who got the steak. The next night the main course was pork chops, which were so dry they looked like paper mache. I couldn't even eat it, except the pieces around the edges with the glaze. Everything else was mediocre but the Tex mex egg rolls were amazing! I wished I gotten a whole plate of those. Again, focus on what you know best, tumbleweed. If this location is going to continue to promote their party room, they will have to work on service skills for those who wait on these parties. The poor guy was in way over his head, and the girl that was helping was barely able to keep drinks full. They get 2 stars only for the queso that was just as amazing as I remember growing up.

I was trying to call in an order and I was placed on hold (or ignore) for 10 minutes. How can you deliver lunch to a business when you can't even take my order over the phone.

Wait was too long. We chose TW on a Monday night because it is not considered a popular place. But they had cheap drinks so it was crowded. We requested a table for 6 and they said 10 minute wait. It was so much longer. Our kids are crying because they are hungry. Finally the manager stops by and offers us chips - which he would charge us for, but whatever. After 45 mintues and many customers going ahead of us we are like "What's the deal?" They said they only had a couple tables that would fit 6 since we had a car seat. I said can't we just set it on the table? And they said yeah but we didn't think to ask you that. This problem won't happen again. Surprised they are still in business there.

we went as a part of a fundraiser. The food is what it is. People should know it is not gourmet. For what it is, it was ok. The server was great. She caught up with our drinks and treated us well. Will go back for sure.

Definitely not worth the price - unpleasant service, no attention for detail, lack of flavor. Have had a much better experience at the downtown location.

Had dinner with my aunts tonight and it was a horrible experience. We sat forever before we were greeted and probably would have sat longer had I not started to look around and caught the attention of the manager, he was sitting at a table near us with some other guests. We never saw him again the rest of the evening. Our table was dirty and sticky so they wiped it down with a wet towel that left more nasty food bits on the table than we had to begin with. I was given a refill which was not what I originally had and 1 aunt got a refill at the end since our server never once checked on us. There were a total of 5 tables in the whole restaurant and our server had us and another 3 top. The other 2 servers were attentive and nice to their tables from what I could observe while our server seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there. I get it, I've been there, but you fake it till you make it. He gave us our bills which were wrong and had to be reprinted, there were 3 of us and we each got 1 thing! Then he disappeared with our payments for like 10 minutes. I had to have a bus boy go find him since he had my debit card. When he finally showed back to our table He shorted one of my aunts on her change, said thanks for coming and went to his other table. I don't think I've had worse service at a restaurant. If they had been busy I'd understand but I've been there on a Monday when people are waiting out the door and have gotten great service. Tonight was so disappointing. I would have been better off going across to Qdoba. The only positive thing was the other 2 servers saying thanks for coming and to have a good night as we left.

I love Mexican food and few things make me happier than a good margarita. Sadly, you get neither at Tumbleweed. And okay, it's actually "Tex-Mex", so perhaps my expectations are all wrong. But when there's chips & salsa on the table, I want warm chips and fresh salsa. Tumbleweed brought us three different types of salsa: sweet apricot, mild, and hot. None of them are very good. I ordered the chicken fajita wrap, but something was off about it. It may have been the chipotle tortilla. Some sort of spiciness overwhelmed everything else in the wrap. My father ordered a bacon cheeseburger that looked really good. But after a couple bites I noticed him lift the bun to add salt & pepper, so it must not have been seasoned properly. My mom ordered chicken fajitas that she enjoyed, but they didn't come with a side of rice or beans or even sour cream (apparently those are all extras). And the frozen margarita didn't really have a taste. It was like it was all ice. Sadness. I noticed a sign for 99-cent Margarita Mondays, but it wasn't even worth that much. I know it's not really fair to compare Tumbleweed to El Camino or Guaca Mole or even El Nopal, but there's just no reason to eat here when there are so many other options...unless, of course, you're with family, as I was, and all that really matters is the company. The tables are spaced well, the service was quick, and the waitress kept the drinks filled, so it was a decent enough spot for that.

I must say at first sight from the reviews i was a little against eating here. First impression is casual. Nothing special. Our waiter was extremely nice and attentive. The food came fast, made perfectly(i had the ribs). All in all everything was good. Made for a great evening.

Bad food, bad service, drinks from sugary mixers. What else is there to say about this place?

Waited on hold for 10 minutes waiting to place order, person kept coming on and saying just a minute. Finally ordered and they said 10-15 minutes, got in car and was there in 15. They are supposed to take your color and make of car and bring out when you pull up. Waitied in spot for a few minutes and nothing. Went insisted and there was a gentleman sitting there and he said he had been a while. So I wait, wait and wait, never even acknowledged I was standing there. Phone kept ringing, no one answered it. Finally brought the gentlemens food and was totally wrong. Waited again. Finally got my name for order, brought it out and was wrong. Forgot the small queso, brought it, no chips, got kids burrito was hard as a rock. Before I left a cop came in and said she just left duty for the president being in town and tried calling when she left downtown, no one ever answered, so she drove here to order, waited another 5 minutes before they acknowledged her. Sad, very sad, no apologies even.

Ate here a year ago and still won't go back. Service was unbelievably terrible and food was not worth the money.

Overall a Wonderful experience. You pay for what you get. It was not a five star but my wife and kids ate on Sunday ( kids eat free) for under 30 bucks hard to do these days

Even the chips and salsa were bad. Grit and ketchup.
