I love The Melting Pot. I'm usually not that into chains, and I'm not saying I want to eat The Melting Pot every week or anything, but it's a really great place to have a nice dinner. It is a bit expensive compared to many places, but I think most people eat here for special occasions, and tend to budget higher for those meals. Just go into it knowing what to expect and you'll be fine. We used to live in Lexington and would go to The Melting Pot there; however, since that location closed, and we live in Louisville now, the Hurstbourne location is all that's left. But, that's not to say it's a last resort. The restaurant is still great. It isn't in the greatest location though. It's in a strip mall, which doesn't really scream romantic date night. If you can get past the fact that it's located next to other shops and eateries it actually has ample parking and once you're inside you'll forget all about what's out there anyway. On my most recent visit to this location I was dining with six girlfriends and we chose a special course menu they were offering at the time. It was absolutely delicious and our service was wonderful. They were also offering $20 bottles of wine that we split, so that was a definite plus (since a cocktail will run you $9, though they do have a delicious cocktail menu). If you're planning to check out The Melting Pot for something other than a special occasion or romantic date definitely consider having a girls' night there. It's a really fun way to get together with friends and catch up while you interact with your food. They also offer a three-course menu that's only $19.95/person, so it's pretty affordable considering the amount, and the quality, of food you get. Everything I've ever had from the menu has been delicious. We usually do a 4-Course Experience, and my favorite courses are always the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue. Everything else is great, I'm just a girl that loves chocolate and cheese! My favorite thing I've ever had at The Melting Pot was during my most recent trip. It was a white chocolate crème brûlée fondue made with Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sugar. It was absolutely amazing. And it was gone in under two minutes. I definitely recommend The Melting Pot. For a special occasion, date night, or just any time you feel like going out and having a delicious, fun, intimate meal.

I've never had a bad experience at the melting pot. The food is tasty, the ambiance is pleasant, and the service is really good. But, I would have to say, once you've done it once, it kind of loses all of the allure. The food is a bit pricey, and to me just isn't worth the inflated bill. By all means, absolutely try it out! It is tasty and very rich. It's more tasty if someone else in buying. If you haven't been, you should give it a shot. Overall impressions of the restaurant are that it is clean, has great waitstaff, and the dim lighting and high seat backs make you feel more secluded and intimate with your party. It has a definite "rich mahogony" vibe and could be construed for a romantic experience on a date night. Give it a shot. It might fondue you some good.

Well- to start out, they have great mints and nice bathrooms. The server was great- friendly, informative, and attentive. It is such a fun place to go especially when celebrating something special. The food was delicious too. Cheese was our favorite. We'll be back!

We visited from out of state, and decided to try this place (although they are a national chain). We got great service from our waiter, "T-Love". Shortly after, he appeared on a reality show where he received a promotion. I would say deservedly so. He was very good at his job, and entertaining as well. The food was so filling and I definitely over-ate. I will return if I'm in the area again!

My other half took me and my daughter visiting us from CA to the Louisville location. We were fortunate to get a table right away on a Saturday night. We had a very attentive and knowledgable server. It was the first time for all 3 of us to be there. The two adults have had fondue before but several years prior so it was a re-education for us. We ordered the Big Night Out and my daughter had an item with Cajun flavored chix, sausage and filet mignon. We were advised that the whole process of our meal would take 3 hours. It did but it was definitely worth it. We will probably go again! :)

I originally reviewed this place back in 2008 and felt that it was just ok. it has since become my favorite place in town. The revamped menu is incredible and it allows for a cheaper dining experience by purchasing only the items/courses that you want. The staff is amazing and it starts from the top. Scott, the manager visits our table personally to ensure that experience is great every time. The assistant managers and servers are excellent as well and will remember you on your next visit.. If you haven't been here recently, you have to give them another try!! If you have never been here, now is the time to check it out. Come in and try the cheese or a salad or even just dessert. Who doesn't like dipping things in chocolate!! One other thing to be aware of are the beer and wine flights that are available. If you do all the courses, you get a different beer or wine with each course. It is very reasonably priced and is a great wine to sample some great beer and wine!! Love this place!!!

We decided to head to the Louisville Melting Pot for dinner after having a magnificent experience at the one in Nashville last year. This one did NOT hold up to our expectation one bit. It seemed as if we were rushed as every moment. Because we had stated we'd been to a Melting Pot before, we really weren't given an opportunity to look over the menu. The waiter and his trainee stood there while we reviewed the menu. We quickly chose the 4-couse option again as we felt rushed to picked. And they rushed to pick the options within the courses. The Nashville restaurant is truly top notch. They allow you time to finish a course before bringing the next course. Not Louisville! They're cramming your salad plates on the table along side everything else & asking how everything tastes BEFORE you've taken a bite. We heard all the other waiters giving detailed instructions regarding cross contamination during the entrée course. Our waiter just said, "don't use this one to eat off of". He again asked how everything tasted when it was obvious we hadn't even began eating our entrée. As our entrée was cooking, the waiter asked if we were ready to review the dessert menu, we said no. He left the menu on the table anyway. When we finally decided to order our dessert course & it was cooking, within 60 seconds, the waiter brought our check and said "no hurry". We've never had a waiter bring our check so fast. All in All the food was great! The service was not. We will not ever go back to the Louisville location again. The are three things that we remember about the Nashville, TN location. One, each course was made a special experience. Two, the waiter asked how everything was and we said "good". He said if it was just good, then there is something that could be improved upon. We said we meant it was truly awesome. Three, our waiter truly made our experience feel first class when paying close to $100 for a meal.

Took my Father in Law and family to celebrate his birthday. My wife and I had been to a Melting Pot in Nashville, TN previously. The offer a unique experience but are very pricey. Our server was very good but the time between courses was longer than it should have been. 10 minutes is ok but 15 to 20 minutes is pushing it. The food was pretty good and there was enough. The cheese fondue and chocolate desert fondues were the top choice of our table. Can only recommend this if you are looking for a unique dining experience. Food was ok but $260 for a party of 5 was very pricey.

we just had to try this place especially after we were asked to return some other time (because they were fully booked for the evening) and make sure to call for reservation in their university city, mo location. i guess this is somewhat like a french/american version of the shabu-shabu were you cook the meat/vegetable in a boiling soup. way too pricy if you ask me. i think they make you pay for the dining experience rather than the food quality. the upside is, you cant go wrong with a chocolate fondue.

Celebrated my daughter's sweet 16 last night with 13 girls. Was able to use their private party room and have drinks, cheese, salads, and chocolate for about $24 a head before tip. They were entertained from 7-10 pm and treated like VIPs. Waiter was Terry aka TLove and he really made the experience. They absolutely loved him.

I recommend that you plan to over indulge at the Melting Pot because no amount of self-control will keep you from scraping the last of the cheese or chocolate out of the bottom of the fondue pot. The cheese course was amazing. We ordered the Cheddar Cheese Fondue and watched in awe as the server prepared it on the table in front of us from shredded cheddar cheese, beer, garlic, and various other seasonings then stirred until it turned into a creamy rich sauce. It was a particularly nice compliment to the cup of apples that were served with it. I had the House Salad with the peppercorn ranch dressing. It was was a nice palate cleanser. Everything on it was fresh and the ranch was tasty. However, in comparison to the fondue courses it didn't stand out. At the recommendation of our server we selected the Mojo cooking style for our main course. I had the all-natural breast of chicken and my date had the steak lovers selection. We were told to cook the meat for two minutes each. However, we were talking so much that I kept overcooking my chicken. That isn't the restaurant's fault, but next time I will have to set a timer. The main course was served with six sauces. I tried each of them and only found the Ginger Plum to be even slightly pleasant. My date also passed on the sauces. If I had to search for an opportunity for improvement the sauces would be it. The dessert course was by far the highlight of our night. As I read over the menu repeatedly trying to decide between multiple desserts the waiter came by our table twice asking if I had decided. Finally I told him that I just couldn't make up my mind and asked him which was the best one. He told us that the best one was not on the menu then named off a clearly made up dessert name. When I asked what was in that he said, "chocolate, marshmallow, caramel, and oreo flambeed table side". My date and I both immediately said that was what we wanted. When he came back and prepared the dessert fondue I was like a kid in a candy factory. It was absolutely the perfect dessert and we ate every bit of it. In all the Melting Pot was an excellent experience. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. My date and I both left so full that we could barely move. I do however recommend that you make reservations if you plan to visit the Melting Pot, which is clearly posted on their door and website.

Went on Sunday evening, service started out good then waited 30 minutes for main coarse. During this time no waiter came by table. Food was just okay. Do to the service will be long ttime before we come back.

This place is ridiculously expensive, especially since you cook the food yourself! The service wasn't the best. The waiter spilled a drink on us and didn't apologize or even offer some extra napkins. It wasn't just a few drips, it was the whole glass of sweet tea. The food wasn't out of this world, but it was decent.

I was there for an event in the private room where chocolate fondue and desserts was being served. The desserts looked very dry and no one in the party finished theirs. The waiters were attentive to our drinks.

Put off by host, acted like he was searching for a table because we didn't have reservations. Then had to "ok" a walk in with his manager. The place was far from packed! Cheese course was good Main course yuck! Mass confusion as to how to prep our meals since I am a vegetarian and my fiance is not. Veg dish was terrible. Fiance said his was edible, but that is all. Dessert delish! The only thing I would go back for. Typical fondue with chocolate, but a lot of fun! Great service, thanks Adrianne Drunk woman behind us got cut off& put a Damper on our night. She was talking and swearing so loudly, it was very irritating!

Listen, if you want cheap eats, then hit up McDonalds. You want great food and even better service? Definitely go to the Melting Pot. The experience is so fun and the ambiance is very romantic. Vincenzo's used to be our go-to place for special events, but since we went to the Melting Pot, we've not gone to Vincenzo's again. And it's still cheaper than VIncenzo's. We get "The Big Night Out" that is a four course meal for two. It is truly fantastic. We always splurge and get the choice with Lobster and Duck. Try it with the Mojo style. Yum. If you run out of things to dip (other than the meat), just ask and they'll bring more. We got more bread, chips, veggies, brownies and fruit for all the different types of fondue. We've always left beyond full and never disappointed. The bartenders there are also quite skilled. I highly recommend trying the Pixy Stick martini. It is now MY drink. Bottom line: Not somewhere you'll go weekly, but it's worth the money. It's the total experience.

"Heather our server was AMAZING she made the whole evening for us and went above and beyond to make sure our evening was the best expirence possible. She was very knowledgeable and went over directions and menu options very thoroughly. The manager was very knowledgeable and would stop by our table periodically to check and make sure we had everything we needed, while his wait staff attended to others needs and busy at other tables he made sure everyone's experience was the best possible. Our reservation was for 7:15 and the food was brought out at just the right time. They even stayed late while we finished up our meal not disturbing us to rush us out, but to make sure we had everything we needed. Very amazing staff and will recommend this location and our server Heather to our friends and family. Heather and your manager MADE our expirence at the Melting Pot worth it."

The hubs brought me here for a late Valentines Day dinner and it was perfect. I loved their Skinny Dipping menu because you still get a good portion (we didn't even finish eating most of our veggies) but you know how many calories you're consuming. You even still get dessert as an option :) We went on a Tuesday at 6 so there weren't very many people there, but I feel like if you're going on a weekend you should make a reservation. Everything was so yummy! I had the "surf and turf" which was shrimp and steak with veggies. There's six sauces to choose from so it's nice to be able to mix it up with all of the different options. Our server was really great explaining how long to cook everything, but I would recommend dumping all of the veggies in and scooping them all out with the big spoon you get.

My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night. The sign says walk ins welcome. When we walked in they said they were fully booked until 930pm (this was 6pm when we arrived). We decided to leave and make reservations for the following Friday. We arrived at our reserved time and were immediately seated. The waitress and manager both went over the menu thoroughly. We ordered the 4 course meal. Our first course came out pretty quickly. As well as salads. After we finished apps and salads we waited almost 60 minutes for the mains. I asked the waitress how long it takes to prepare raw food that I'm going to cook myself. After the main we had our dessert delivered. All in all it was great. The length of time to turn the table seemed to be excessive. We were there for almost 3 hours. If you decide to eat here don't have anything else planned afterwards.

I have been to Melting Pot couple of times and my past experience has been much better than this location. I went to this location last night. The staff was very disinterested and did not care about guests or what we ordered. We were never asked if we had been to restaurant before? I mean it's not like we're in a Denny's. I specifically told the server that we were not that hungry and would be sharing food. Upon ordering, they again made the assumption that I ordered 2 plates each of appetizers and main course. Needless to say, lot of food got left over which we had to throw out as it didn't taste that good the next day. I had high expectations from this but I suppose, am not going to this place again. Sorry

I've always had amazing experiences here and last night was by far the best yet. Pacific Rim and Land and Sea, two bottles of J. Lohr, the Wisconsin trio cheese, yin and yang chocolate, etc. omg. yum. They even gave us complimentary chocolate covered strawberries to take home since we were the last ones in there. Our waiter was fantastic and engaged in interesting conversation with us and laughed with us. Wow. What a night. Our reservations were at 8:30 and left after midnight. Time flies when you're having a blast.

Excellent food and ambience. Be prepared to stay for a long time, like a two-three hour affair but the food is really good and it's got a really unique way for serving your food

This is the fourth melting pot I've eaten at and it was as good as the others. Food was top-notch and the service was excellent. Our server admitted it was her first night (after two weeks of training) and did an excellent job. The general manager delivered my husband's drink and introduced himself. I like a place where the manager is out on the floor observing the service. We had the Caribbean cheese dip (very good and lighter than a lot of others), the delicious orchard salad, mojo style cooking with both the steak lover's entrée and the French Quarter entrée. Both went well with the moho and we used all of the dips. The chocolate fondue...well, I've never had a bad one! We went for the Ying & Yan which can sweeten up the fruit and tames down the sugar in the blondies, brownies and pound cake. I've been at Melting Pot for just the chocolate fondue and it's worth every single penny! I think I've had at least six different types of chocolate and every one of them was delicious. Hint- absolutely make reservations for weekends and it's a good idea for week days as well. We'll be going there again before long!

We have been here twice in the past 4 months. When I lived in PA I always wanted to try it and we never made it there. Thank God we made it to the one here! They offer gluten free option for us who are hindered when we go out to eat. Honestly most of their menu items can be made GF-WHOOHOO! Gluten free bread for the cheese dip, gluten free brownies and supposedly pound cake for dessert. We have gone twice and they have run out of pound cake---which I prefer over a brownie The first time we went it was PACKED-they had just offered a groupon and it was just crazy in there. That was our fault for going during this time. We had a reservation but we waited at least 15 min for a hostess to come and check us in. The food was good-the meat is so tender, lean and full of flavor. The cheese dip is awesome-I could go there and just get the cheese dip and dessert and be happy with myself-as would my tummy! You get a small salad when you order the "pick 4" which is probably the best route to go for everyone. Unles you are going just for the cheese dip. For dessert we ordered the snickers-it is not on the menu but the wait staff will tell you about it. Very tasty! I do wish it would have had more of a peanut butter taste. The wait staff is very friendly and socialable-I assume you have to be since you are standing by the table for at least 5 min at a time making the cheese dip and such. The second time we went we ordered basically the same things-we did change the cheese dip flavor up and the dessert. We got the fiesta dip-not bad but not my favorite. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee-from my understanding this is just a seasonal thing. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! Do plan on spending at least $30-$40 a person without adult beverages and plan on being there for at least 2 hours-if you choose the pick 4. That is the only downfall-they sometimes give you a little too much time to eat. The last time we went we had a really attentive server until after our main meal, he went MIA-we think they saddled him with a large table. He didnt even drop out check off-the manager did. :(.

Not enough recent interviews for the Melting Pot here in Louisville. Husband and I come 2 or 3 times a year for birthdays or anniversaries and enjoy every visit. We are welcomed by name, and the manager usually remembers us. Terry is our go to server, but recently we've had some other servers when we've stopped in without a reservation and find the service is always top notch. We've liked the menu revamp a lot, and the prices have become even more affordable. I recommend the Mojo cooking style, and don't be afraid to ask about the Cheese and Chocolate fondue selections that are not on the menu. Often times the server spends so much time at the table preparing your cheese and waiting for your fondue oil to heat they don't spend a lot of time making menu suggestions unless you ask! Most recently we went in and learned about the Green Goddess Cheese. It is not on the menu! But very tasty!! Also, the sauces on their own, teriyaki, honey mustard and plum aren't special on their own as other reviewers have said, but one server recommended that we mix them together! Amazing! Give it a try. :) Don't skip the vegetables. The broccoli and and potatoes with a little Green Goddess (it's also a cream cheese dip!) is delicious. Enjoy an evening at The Melting Pot. Give yourself about 2 hours and make sure you have some very good company

Went to the Melting Pot on Valentine's day. Huge mistake. We had a reservation for 8:15, didn't get seated at our table till 9:27. The manager offered to buy us a round of drinks. They ran out of the shrimp cocktail appetizer so we had to get soup. The soup was the best part of the meal. Our waitress was extremely slow. We had periods of about 20min or so without seeing her. The cheese, veggies, and bread was just ok. I wasn't impressed. After forever and a day our salads came out. Whatever you do don't get the California salad. It was nasty. The lettuce looked partially rotten and tasted terrible. I ate literally one bite. My girlfriends salad was the melting pot salad. She only took a few bites of it. Her salad didn't have egg on it that it supposed to have. So at this point came our debate on if we should stay or go. It was 10:45 and we arrived at 8:15 our reservation time. My girlfriend made the point not only does the food have to get to the table but we have to cook it. On that we decided to just abandon the situation. We went to the front and requested the GM. He took his time but finally made it up front to us. He apologized profusely. He said that they had a 7pm rush and the people didn't get up from their tables putting the whole restaurant behind schedule. I'm calling BS on that. 2 1/2 hours and didn't even get the main course. Basically the worst dinning experience of my life. We talked about what happed and in the 6 years we've been dating we haven't had worse experience than this. My humble advise is to stay away from this restaurant and only go there if your significant other demands you go. I'll never go back unless it's free.

Such a romantic evening out. My husband surprised me here with reservations for my birthday, and it was without a doubt our restaurant of choice for our one year wedding anniversary a few months later. It is pricey, but completely worth it. Both times, we were tucked away in a two-person booth. If it wasn't for laughter and the smell of coq au vin, we'd assume we were alone. Very intimate. Before we knew it, 2.5 hours had passed. Overall, a great experience!

Good place to eat if you like to spend money.......good atmosphere... Expect to spend a good amount of money! But I believe that it is well worth it. I wish they would just offer to roll you out to your car after you are finished. I would totally pay!

My wife and I finally got a date night and decided to try out The Melting Pot. After reading some reviews on another site I took the advice of some and made reservations. When we arrived we were instantly shown to our table, a cozy little booth for two with dim yet romantic lighting. The server was very helpful in explaining how the experience here works. We first chose our drinks and the choices are plentiful. My wife chose a sweet white wine and I opted for the MP sangria. Next we decided on our cheese fondue, a bourbon bacon four cheese blend. The server informed us of the ingredients as he put them in the pot and blended everything together. When we took our first bite we were hooked on this place. There were vegetables, different types of bread and apples to try with this magnificent cheese fondue. Next he brought our salads. My wife had the house salad while I had the Caesar. We both agreed they were fresh and delicious. It was time then to pick our entree. We both decided on the steak lovers and had the Mojo style broth to cook it in. I have to say it melted in our mouths, not to mention the teriyaki sauce was out of this world. We we're served red skin potatoes, broccoli and mushrooms to enjoy with the steak. We simply dumped the whole bowl of veggies in the pot so they could simmer with the meat. Just when you think you're done, here come the desserts . For our dessert fondue we tried the Flaming Turtle chocolate. We were brought strawberries, mini Rice Krispie treats, marshmallows, red velvet cake, chocolate cake and a slice of cheesecake. The whole experience was wonderful. My wife told me as we were leaving that she absolutely wants to return and that it was the best meal she has ever had at a restaurant. I have to agree with her. I highly recommend The Melting Pot if you're looking for a true out of the ordinary experience. Great for a date night. Be prepared to put down some cash as our Four Course Experience was around $120 but for everything we got and the service it was worth every penny.

Way over-priced for what you get. Went there not long after they opened and we weren't impressed with the experience of eating fondue and paying over $120 for the privilege. Also, those of us who have to avoid alcohol for health reasons (bad reaction to diabetes medication, and no it doesn't cook off enough) are left feeling like second-class citizens, for although they will make accommodations but substituting milk for the beer/wine in the fondue, they did so only grudgingly.
