I had my first experience at rumors this week. It was pretty tasty. The shrimp was my favorite. My server was polite and answered my questions. The place was packed and those tables are close together. It was a fun experience.

Another great meal! We have never eaten there and been disappointed. Got fried oysters for first time and they were fresh as stated. Service was great as usual. Thanks Rumors!

This is a great little funky place in Middletown with awesome atmosphere. I've only been once and ready to go again, had oysters which were fresh a really good. Beer is really cold!

My experience included courteous service in a nice family-friendly atmosphere. The food was very good.

Nice home town like place. I had the wings and creamy slaw. The wings are better than chain wing places but are just on par for home town wing places. The slaw was great! Will try a fish dish next time!

Rumors has been one of my favorite restaurants for over two decades. The atmosphere is very casual, one of those places I can have no makeup on and wear whatever comfortable outfit I desire. The dressings are all homemade and delicious! The hot wing sauce is the best I've ever had (I need the recipe) paired with their blue cheese and I am one happy girl. The oysters are always cold and so is the Bud Light :) the service is great every time we go there, which is about once a week. The grouper sandwich is always a winner as well.

I have been a customer for years and still find the service and quality of the food to be great. Go hungry and you will leave full & ready for your nap.......................

If you go here for the seafood... skip it I wasn't impressed at all. Prices was too high for the quality and amount you get. The oysters I ordered were in a steam basket and you shuck yourself which would've been fine had they not been overcooked quite abit. I brought my mom along and she ordered a fried oyster po-boy which was loaded with...lettuce and sauce.... 5 small oysters that's it. :( the wings I hear are good and if I ever go back it will be to try them but today I was in the mood for good seafood and I unfortunately went here....

I had not been to this place in several years and decided to give it a try. I ordered a chicken sandwich and my dining partner had a salad with grilled tuna. Overall the food was decent but in my opinion, a bit over priced. The restaurant was clean annd the service was good.

What do you do when you are stuck in Middletown for lunch and craving some seafood? You go to Rumors, of course. Oysters: Steamed, Raw or Rockefeller...they are Mmmm...mmm...good. Grouper: Get it fried, get it grilled. Either way, your mouth should smile after one bite and frown when it is all gone. Wings: Sure...they're OK, I guess. I mean they're wings. Who doesn't have good wings these days? The atmosphere is what I call "Hooters without the cleavage".

We like the place. Good food, you can watch a ballgame, but yet it is not loud and obnoxious like b dubs.

Best Hot Wings and Fish Sandwich in Louisville. Rumors has been the Sports Bar of choice by East End Louisville natives for almost 30 years. It's a fantastically friendly place to hand out with your crew and enjoy a game.

I was in Louisville visiting my parents. We were all out front talking to neighbors one day and they told us if we like wings to give Rumors a try. And since I LOVE wings, we did. That night. I was unaware that Rumors was also a seafood restaurant so this review is based solely on my experience with the wings. From the start I was impressed with the layout of the tables. There were people waiting in the small entrance which usually signifies a decent place to eat. When we were seated, I was extremely impressed that our table wasn't butted up against others. They could have easily fit 5 more tables in the room we were in but had not. I ordered the wings, HOT and sloppy. The neighbor said to order them sloppy and I wouldn't be disappointed. So I did. It cost less than a dollar more and the wings come drenched in sauce. One of my favorite things to do is dunk my fries into the extra sauce, so this was a welcomed mess. The fries were just ok, but they give you a boat load. In the end, I thought the wings were outstanding and you should give them a try. A very nice tangy sensation, that great feeling that gets your mouth watering before you even taste the wing. You know what I'm talking about! PS: The neighbors later said that they like the oysters when going to Rumors. So you might try them if you like oysters!

There are a few things in life that can compare to the wings at Rumor's. These are hands down the best wings I have ever eaten, and nothing in Louisville can really compare. In addition, the fried pickles are among the best I have eaten. The staff is super friendly, they are all very upbeat and very talkative. My glass has never been empty before I received an refill. The only gripe I would have is that since it is "seat yourself" sometime it can take a little for a server to come find you especially if it's busy and you are in a small ground. The prices are a little better than average. Pretty fair overall. I am never surprised with some ridiculous price once the check comes. I will always come back to this place whenever I come back to visit in town. I would suggest this place to anyone, especially if you're looking for some good wings.

We ordered carry-out recently from this restaurant and were surprised at the quality of the food and the value. We were all very happy with our meals. I ordered the chicken and mushroom alfredo and it was amazing and perfectly cooked, and my side caesar salad was very tasty. I would highly recommend. I would give this place a 4.5 star rating if that was an option.

Skip it unless your obligated to go, usually very loud with a group of obnoxious "regulars", bar flies is a more accurate term. All kidding aside, if you have craving for seafood, go to Moby Dick, you'll spend less and get better food.

Service was slow. Arrived at 12, placed order at 12:10, food arrived at 12:45. But I was in a party of 18. Waitresses were great but overworked. If that was the end of the story, they would get four stars, but it isn't: the grilled salmon was overdone to the point of rubbery. The salad was best described as a bowl of lettuce garnished with tomato and paper-thin slices of carrot. Since my time was limited I did not see the point of complaining. Needless to say I will not be returning.

I would call this a seafood restaurant for people who don't like seafood. I got the Shrimp Scampi Linguini, which was basically shrimp thrown on some noodles with some cheese and parsley. The noodles had no flavor and were drowning in water and oil. The bread was over salted and dusted with pizzeria parm (classy)! This place is supposed to be like one of those dives near the ocean that has great fresh seafood. The problem is that it isn't anywhere near the ocean. My girlfriend got salmon that was overcooked and although had a nice mesquite flavor was missing the fish flavor and could have even just been chicken. The problem with a seafood place like this is that it really can't be that good without charging a little more or being near the ocean. I just hope some reviewers will respect themselves more and not pay for lazily cooked and flavorless seafood. And please remember that seafood is supposed to be enhanced by spice and not overcome by it.

It may not be Z's or Doc Crow's, but if you want to go eat seafood by the bucket without breaking your wallet, this is the place to go.

We went to Rumors tonight for dinner. We had to hunt down the hostess to be seated. After 10 minutes of waiting for our server we decided to leave. I told another server who was waiting on the table next to ours that we were leaving. She said, "We were just talking about that. We don't know who your server is." Not impressed.

Went again today and had the same experience. Good food, unfriendly service. The food was hotter this time. Interestingly, we had a different server from before and he slid our food at us too...maybe it's a "thing" here.

Another place close to where I work that serves some really good fish and seafood. Rumors isn't fine dining but I haven't had anything bad yet. The buffalo shrimp are huge, slightly spicy and delicious. The crab salad wrap and fish sandwich are my two staples. I know Louisville isn't by the water but I took a gamble with their oysters and would gladly do it again. There's a fully stocked bar if you're into that kind of thing and not on the clock. Pat Day is apparently a regular but I was honestly more interest in my sandwich and the game of cards I was playing with a friend. If you can find a better fish sandwich for the price, let me know.

Had dinner here with the kids. For a seafood place that isn't on the beach it wasn't bad. The tuna steak was tender and flavorful. The kids enjoyed the crab legs dinner but it's pretty pricey. The gumbo was surprisingly good (having lived in Louisianan I have pretty high standards). Service was fine but not wonderful. Drink menu is impressive but mixed drinks seemed a bit weak. Overall it was average. With so many great restaurants in Louisville I am not sure that we will be going back but it is worth trying out.

For the price, it's unusually good. Almost a hole-in-the-wall place. I get he grouper every time and it's always awesome. The house salad is great and it's so crisp every time. It's almost strange how good the salad is. Wings are the best in town but be careful if going with heat and sloppy. I hear the oysters are always good as well. Better than average and is almost always good. Have no fear here. One of my fav's in town.

I had very low expectations coming here, to be honest. We drove from our apartment on Frankfort to Middletown to eat at Masas. Well apparently the people at Masas are on a (well deserved) vacation. My heart dropped when I saw that Masas was closed! The boyfriend was all like, "why don't we go to rumors?" I was not into that idea at all. But I stayed positive. He drove us across the street to get a menu and see what was up. My response to the menu was that I could get chicken tenders at Popeyes next door for less than this place was charging and that it would probably be the same price. We decided to go to taco bell and just take it on over to our friends house and eat there, which is where we were planning to go after eating out. As we were pulling out of rumors I had a sudden and random change of heart. We turned the car around around and went right inside. Pretty much everyone was leaving by the time we were walking in, which was great. Our server, a young dude, was awesome. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders and the boyfriend ordered the fish dinner platter. I have ordered a lot of buffalo chicken wings, at a lot of different places, and this place takes the fucking cake. Usually BCT (buffalo chicken tenders) come out overly drenched and soggy. Oh not these. These bad boys has just the right amount of sauce where I could eat them with my hands! Awesome! They were crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The buffalo sauce had a really nice flavor. An actual flavor. Not just "hot." His fish dinner amazed him lol. The way he described it was that every time he took a bite of fish it just crumbled away and melted in his mouth. Perfect. We will be back. This dinner was perfect. We had a really great time and we didn't feel rushed at all even though we got there 45 minutes before closing. We felt very at ease at this place. And this is not the kind of place I usually go. It's just not. But I felt very welcome :) I guess the moral of this story is don't judge a book by its cover and always have low expectations :) Oh and the whole meal plus an alcoholic beverage and two sodas was 30 bucks. Nice.

Discovered this place last weekend. Went in to eat and watch the U of L basketball game and we were delightfully impressed. Seated and greeted quickly. We got there 45 minutes before the game and stayed for the entire thing, and the server never once forgot about us. She was awesome. The place looks like it could have been a Hooters restaurant in the past, open kitchen with a bank of fryers. Open space, not too cramped and a lot of tv's. Started with wings, they were good. Not overly breaded or overly sauced. Only complaint was just one stick of celery on a 10 piece order. Luckily, my girlfriend wasn't in the mood for celery. Next we split two sandwiches- the classic fish and the crab cake po'boy. The fish sandwich was good, the crab cake po'boy was excellent! It was two well made crab cakes on a hoagie bun with a nice, spicy remoulade. We will definitely go again, and if the service is as good, we will be regulars when we want a good, sports watching option!

One extra star for the Shrimp and Grits! Rumors is more like a restaurant you might find in the Florida coastal areas. Its decor is casual: surf boards, beer signs, large TVs and servers wearing colorful tshirts. The food is seafood-centric but with plenty of landlubber stuff also. I was immediately drawn to their offerings of fresh oysters steamed, broiled and simply shucked. But it turns out their Shrimp and Grits was the star of the show! Course stone ground grits cooked creamy with cheddar; add plenty of shrimp; topped with this red pepper coulis that actually tastes like roasted red peppers! Oh, the grits are also studded with chewy cubes of bacon... I will not go back to instant grit again, ever! Now my Oysters Rockefeller was a real disappointment. I should have known...August is not exactly oyster season, yet. The oysters appeared large on the plate..but I really had to crawl under the mound of spinach and bread crumbs to find that tiny oyster. The oyster is definitely not freshly shucked since it was not still attached to the shell like it should be. Sigh, there was hardly any oyster flavor to be had. I won't be getting those again. On the other hand, hubby really liked his Philly Steak Sandwich. He says it is one of the better ones out of the many he's had everywhere. We will be back for more Shrimp and Grits and Philly Sandwich. No Oysters Rockefeller, thank you! I am willing to try other oyster dishes during oyster season.

long story short: stood in the door way for close to 10 minutes before we were sat (chose outdoor seating) the wings were pretty good. Far from the "best in the city" like other reviews said? Went with the crab cake po'boy, soooo not impressed. Really wanted to like this place. Only upside: pitcher of frozen peach margaritas

I normally would give Rumors a better rating, but I need to let someone know what happened on a recent attempt to meet my mom for lunch on a Wednesday. The restaurant advertises that it opens for lunch at 11 am on weekdays, and we arrived at 11:15. The door was locked, lights out. Clearly someone could see me in the parking lot with my 2-year old son and just kept wiping tables. We knocked and waited, but no one came to the door or even told us that they were not open. I have an hour lunch break, so we sadly left and ate elsewhere. I live in Middletown and I doubt we'll be back!

Rumors has the best wings in town! My favorite place to watch a game! The staff is so friendly. When we order wings we always order them extra "sloppy" the sauce is addicting. Also blue cheese is out of this world.

Great wings! Get them extra wet and the hot are just right! Side of Curley fries, ranch and blue cheese for the wings... Good stuff Jalapeño poppers are some of the best I have had.

Food is good for seafood off the coast. As usual the smell of the bathrooms permeates the entire restaurant. Mixture of bleach and sewer lines is very unpleasant and physically disturbing.

I went with my parents and husband yesterday (Father's Day). We arrived at 2, and the restaurant wasn't overly busy. We were seated in the back section with another table of 8, who were loud, but not obnoxious. We just weren't sure why we weren't put in the front section. My mother ordered some wings, which took a long time to arrive. The menu described them as big--they weren't. They were tasty, though. The funny part of that was the plate of 10 wings was garnished with ONE piece of celery. Our salads were OK, and arrived soon after the wings. The wing plates and salad plates were never removed from the table until we were done with our entrees. My crab cakes were good, but were served on an unappealing bed of shredded lettuce. The side of seafood pasta salad was very good. My husband had the fried grouper, which he is pretty sure was actually catfish. My father enjoyed his generous plate of shrimp and grits and took a lot home. Mom liked her fried oysters, too. Everything was pretty reasonable--we would have enjoyed more attentive service, though.

Great food and service. Max is the best! Wings are always taste and the brew is cold. Great place to relax have some good food and watch the game.

The fish sandwich and fries were excellent. The shrimp scampi linguini left a lot to be desired. The shrimp were good but the noodles had no flavor at all. They tasted like plain noodles no scampi sauce! The parm bread had old margarine on it and was burned. If you like shrimp scampi linguini do not order it at rumors!

Have been there for the wings many times before and they are tasty. But this time we decided to go for dinner on a whim. Whoops! Started with a dozen oysters on the 1/2 shell based on the hostess' suggestion. Small and tasteless with a cocktail sauce that tasted like ketchup. My wife had the shrimp fettuccini. It was so bland, she asked for garlic to add herself. I ordered the fried platter....everything was as if they went to Costco and bought it out of the freezer section. Service was bad as well. Our waitress kept going over to another table to sit and chat with her boyfriend until we could get her attention. $70 for bland food and crappy service. No thanks!

This place hands down has the best wings you can eat anywhere. HUGE CELERY!! Cheap beers in draft. AMAZING buffalo chicken dip. This is the place to go for this type of beer and wing meal. Can't be beat!! The best wing sauce ever along with the perfect size drums, cooked perfectly. You must give this place a try every weekend!!
