Don't come in an hour before they close. Half the staff is cleaning up. Sweeping up under the booth I am sitting in waiting for carry out. All the chairs already up in the tables. Out of orange chicken there signature dish. Took over 45 minutes to get carry out.

I have eaten at this location twice during lunch hours and both times the entrees were completely dried out. $8 for complete and utter crap. Don't waste your time unless the place is bumping with a crowd bc the food will be dry and old otherwise.

The orange chicken is gummy with overly-sweet sauce and way too much breading. Actual chicken is in there, but hard to find and very much in the minority. Black pepper chicken is somewhat better -- bite-sized pieces of tender chicken and not drowning in sauce. I asked for mixed veggies on the side and they gave me fried rice instead. It was fine, but nothing different from any other fried rice from any other place. If you're in the immediate neighborhood and must have Chinese, then Panda Express is an option. Just don't go out of your way to go there. (Better yet, go across Hurstbourne to Sichuan Garden!)

If you are just dying for some Chinese food and do not want to: Pay $$$ at P.F.Chang's; Wait for carry out; Look for parking and then enter the mall food court; Or just so famished and cannot wait at a Chinese restaurant; (And I consider gringo Chinese to be a whole new food group.) Then, Panda Express can fill the void for you. Other than mall food court, I have never really experienced a fast food Chinese joint. And this one has a drive thru!! So I was pretty excited to try Panda Express here in Louisville. The experience is Meh at Best. While I did appreciate the wide variety of choices laid out in front of me on the steam table, there were no new surprises I have not seen at the food court Chinese places. The diner has the choice of bowls, 2+a side, 3+a side or large size a la cart entrees. My choice of Shanghai Beef + Shanghai Surf & Turf were fine but not great. The beef was cut into thick planks which made them harder to cook through, therefore overcooked. The shrimp was a bit overcooked, also. On the other hand, hubby loved his Beijing Beef--beef slices coated and deep fried, then stir fried with this sweet smoky sauce. The sauce adheres really well to the coating. The sweet and sour chicken was decent. No gooey red sauce here. But the one major fail for this branch is their rice. Both the white rice and fried rice were just so hard, dry and inedible. They really need to increase the amount of water they put in the rice cooker. That rice was hard even by gringo Chinese standards! Service was fast and the place was bright and clean. If the previously mentioned few conditions were met, I will still return for a quick fix.

I ordered beef with broccoli and firecraker chicken. The portions were so small. I literally didnt even get any beef, just broccoli and very few peices of chicken. I will definitely not be back. It was a rip off.

Gross. Egg rolls are slimy on the inside, noodles are hard and dry. Just go somewhere else nearby instead. Literally anywhere else.

Service was not exceptional, one of the girls was nice the other pretty nasty. Egg rolls were burnt, fried rice was pretty good and so was the Orange chicken, but the beef and broccoli was scary! Sign said there was hot and sour soup, but the nasty girl behind the counter said they have never had soup, when the proof was right there on the glass. Hopefully it's not like this all the time. Probably won't be back.

Don't do it. Waste of time and money. There are many other options in the area. The service was slow and I was the only drive through customer. Food was bland and no amount of soy sauce was going to help it.

Had to wait about 10 minutes to order since the cashier and drive through girl were complaining about something to the manager. Once I ordered I was rather put off by the girls rudeness. I had heard good things about the food, and i was surprised it was less flavourful than a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Even if it was just a bad day for the location I won't be eating at the chain again.

I've been to various Panda Express locations in other cities and they were all decent fast food. I like the comparison by another reviewer to it being the Taco Bell of chinese food.. that's a perfect analogy! Anyway, I digress.. I pulled into the drive thru after a long morning in hopes of grabbing a quick lunch after a rough morning. Love the idea of having a drive thru Chinese place, for sure. Pulled up and I was the third car in line.. 12 minutes later (!!) I had my food. 12 minutes to plunk some chow mein and chicken in a box? Drive thru fail! Plus, they didn't have any ice so I couldn't get a drink. I get back to my hotel room ready to fend off a puppy and dig into my lunch. I open the container and was greeted by what used to be teriyaki chicken. It was completely burnt (see picture). The broccoli beef was overcooked to the point of being mush. Bleah. I ended up eating the chow mein and giving the biggest piece of charcoal chicken to the dog to eat like jerky. He loved it, I did not.

I love reading the first reviews of new places that open in town, especially when they are large chains. For some reason, people expect a fast food Chinese restaurant to compare to the likes of a place that cooks everything to-order. Lower your expectations, people. Off of my rant now. So...yeah...the food is not great. But, considering what it is, I can't complain too much. I mean, when I go to Taco Bell for a quick guaranteed-to-cause-intestinal-distress fast food fix, do I expect authentic Mexican food like I get south of the (real) boarder? No...I don't. So, I don't expect much here either. Just fast food that resembles some form of Chinese food with an Americanized junk flare. I've been to several Panda Expresses through the years in other cities and airports, and they're all the same. This is no different. I didn't get sick from eating it, which is a start...and they used brown rice, which is nice. I just realized what the food here reminds me of! You know when someone drags you to a Chinese buffet, and there is that last little bit of Orange Chicken in the pan? That's it! Slightly old, but not used (I hope) buffet food!!!

Amazing food!! Great fried rice! Angus steak is awesome. Price is great. Eat here all the time!

Its kind of depressing eating inside. If you have to go here, go through the drive thru. I would much prefer some hole in the wall Chinese to this, even though its practically the same thing. It took too long to get through the line. The decor is cheap and industrial. The lighting is bad. I'm not sure what they did wrong but the environment was killing me. The prices are fine, the food is mediocre. If you want fast casual go with qdoba instead.

If high salt content is your thing, you and your cardiologist will love this place. the place serves no soup, burnt egg rolls and average at best Asian food. Don't expect much and you will be fine.

Every time I've been there they are out of something: sweet & sour sauce, fried rice, Kung Po chicken, etc. Tonight, again, 35 minutes before the store was closing, they told me they were out of fried rice for the night. Not that it would be a short wait while they made some more - they said they were out of it *for the night.* Which was probably for the best. The food is horrible. At its finest it tastes like a microwaved TV dinner. At worst, old, stale cafeteria food that's been sitting under heat lights for hours. Do yourself a favor - patronize a locally-owned, non-chain Asian restaurant. The food is better, usually made fresh when you order, and they never seem to run out of anything. I was reluctant to try Panda Express to begin with. I'm pleased to say I will never go back.

The orange chicken here is actually my favorite. The fried rice is great. Very nice staff. It's a fast food Chinese restaurant so don't expect anything fancy... but I love it and it's my go to Chinese food.

Meh is just about perfect. The food is nothing special and will get ample treatment here by others, I'll just contribute by saying that for those of you who love Fried Rice and have attempted to make it at home and are always disappointed, this is exactly the same rice. It's oily and overdone and has way too many peas and carrots in it. My main issue with this restaurant is the logistics. Everything about the placement, parking, drive-thru, counter, seating and drink station is just wrong. It almost feels like the entire franchise was developed by some wiseacre Social Psychologist to see how much the American consumer will abide. Given the ridiculously huge portions I received, I'm guessing most will queue up to the trough plenty to keep this place going strong for years. Whoever was tasked with scouting a location for this restaurant got ONE thing right, traffic volume. Anybody who regularly deals with Hurstbourne Lane and particularly the Linn Station/I-64 area knew this wouldn't be a good site. Look at what a mess the OG parkling lot always is...and that place super sucks. So spying the line at the counter from Hurstbourne, one may be tempted to get drive-thru and eat at home/work. Once you negotiate the hairpin curve into the lot entrance, you'll have to make another decision, as the drive-thru and one lane of traffic in the parking lot merge into one blob cars at various 45 degree angles as those who are attempting to park mix with those trying to get out of spots mix with this trying to get in line for drive-thru. Oh yeah, don't forget about the pedestrians. I opted to eat in as it was my first visit and I wanted to see the options firsthand. The maze to gain entry is creative, there is one entrance at the end of the restaurant which forces patrons to weave their way into the line at the oher entrance. The main entrance has two exterior breezeway entrances which folds in the suckers from the rear entrances. You are then faced with a second glass door that OPENS INWARD! That may not sound like a big deal, until you're the unfortunate soul who is in the back of line inside and get your lower lumber smashed by some idiot who can't see you through the full length glass door. So then I waited behind five people for 10 minutes, as people who aren't particularly decisive have to walk all the way down the counter to see all of their options and even taste test what they're unsure about. They then walk back to the beginning for the server to begIn piling on enough food for three people into one plate. After finally getting my order plated, I sat there and watched it get cold while the cashier dealt with backtracking into the server line to get her own egg roll and rangoon orders. Another absolute logistics failure. At least while in line you get to watch Samurai Panda Bears blink their eyes at each other on a large digital screen...Jack Black would be proud. At the cashier, I wasn't all that impressed with the soda options so I spied the self serve bottled drink options, only to find they were all lukewarm, despite being in an ice bath, curious. Perhaps if their scouting team had told them that any restaurant on Hurstbourne Lane will be busy at lunch they could have put the ice on the drinks earlier. Deciding against a tepid beverage I ordered a medium soda (of course a medium is now a 32 oz), and wove my way through the ridiculous seating layout to the other side of the restaurant to the soda fountain/plastic utensil and napkin outlet. As one can expect during a busy lunch, straw wrappers, loose napkins and general confusion were replete. I had to then go drop off my tray before dealing with the drink, as there's a zero property line between the drink machine and the counter edge. Logistics. I finally sat down 15 minutes after entering and ate an uninspired Asian inspired lunch (wish I were adventurous enough to try the Honey-Walnut Shrimp, just so I could comment on it, but from my initial impressions I decided against trusting my first visit with shellfish). Dining was rushed and completely unenjoyable being crammed next to others and surrounded by people in line watching you eat. Logistics. So this place will be fine for those who are looking for volume over quality and don't mind crowded and noisy surroundings and long lines. In other words, recent parolees. GOOD: Portion size appropriate for dinosaurs, do yourself a favor and share. GOOD: As noted by another reviewer, I didn't get sick. GOOD: Fun animations on the digital screen to sate the appetite for digital stimulation and take one's mind off the insanely long wait and high prices. GOOD: They don't even claim there is Crab in the Rangoon, it's just Cream Cheese Rangoon, refreshingly honest. BAD: Traffic BAD: Cleanliness BAD: Food is just overfried and oversauced, uninspired BAD: Interior traffic amd seating is the worst I've seen in some time. In other words, go to PF Changs, it doesn't cost much more.

Stopped here for lunch. I've been to several Panda's in GA and they were great. This on is NOT! The food was not ready so I paid and waited. And waited. And waited. 30 minutes later I got my $ back and left. I was one of five that had the same problem.

I've never eaten at a Panda Express but I've heard them mentioned on TV so I thought I'd try this one. I got the "bowl" of some sort of chicken dish. The chicken was hard and dry, like most of the meat looked in the window of the steam table. I got fried rice instead of steamed. It also was sort of dry and hard. How can you ruin rice!!! I can now say I've tried Panda Express but I will never go back!

My family loves Panda Express especially the orange chicken and chow mein. We have been dying for a Panda Express to come to our local area. Food was great, clean environment, friendly staff - which is saying a lot. I would have to say that service staff in general in louisville is not overly friendly. My only complaint is the parking. It is a nightmare to get in and out. Although a lot of recent restaurants in Louisville have this same problem - Canes, Chickfila by Home Depot. Only so much open land to build on I guess.....

This was my first Panda Express experience. I had terrible timing for the food I wanted to order. They were out of fried rice and teriyaki chicken, so I had to wait for the food to be made. However, I don't ever mind waiting for fresh food. The wait took way longer than expected, so the cashier gave us free chicken egg rolls for our trouble. Those were really good! I ordered teriyaki chicken with a side of fried rice and cream cheese egg rolls. The chicken had amazing flavor and was very moist. I was not expecting that from a fast good Chinese place. The rice was not done at all, it was kind of crunchy as I was eating it which means it definitely needed to be cooked longer. The cream cheese eggs rolls were pretty decent. I'd ordered those again if I needed a snack. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was super friendly.

They just can't get it right. I asked for sauce on the side and chopsticks, they were missing the sauce and gave me forks. Not offered a beverage, I'm disappointed. I just ate plain grilled chicken from panda express.

Not prepared for lots of people. But I stayed in line because I drove out here and have been wanting Panda Express. Food has been always good when i come!! They need more people working. One cashier is unacceptable!! Going back and forth to the cashier the. To make plates don't mix right!!

Panda has changed their fried rice. They have substituted corn (because it is yellow) for the eggs. I don't know what this concoction is but, it is not fried rice.

I'm giving it two stars instead of one because the staff was nice. The food honestly left something to be desired. It was your basic mall food-court type food. At the end of the day, it will make a turd. I guess that's about all you can say for it. I'd rather go to McDonald's.

Food tasted good but had to wait as they were out of everything we wanted to order. Long lines. Long wait.

This place is hit or miss but more often miss. The majority of my visits they were incredibly slow. Don't name yourself "express" when there is nothing express about your business. I should probably specify that this is for the drive-through only since I have never been inside. You would think the drive-through would actually be fast. Don't count on it. The very first time I went my portion sizes were incredibly small and my food was cold. I asked for sweet and sour sauce and it took the a whole 5 minutes to find some. When you do get our food (and when it's not cold) it actually tastes just fine - like every other panda. If you go here just don't have high expectations and you better not be in a hurry.

My wife got carryout from Panda Express on her way back from the store. She got Orange Chicken for herself and Beijing Beef for me. The Orange Chicken was disappointing, to say the least. I liked my Beijing Beef but the portions were unbelievably skimpy...for both dishes. There was quite literally a small handful of beef and chicken in each to-go container while half the boxes were filled with rice. I honestly prefer the fast food Chinese options at the mall - a lot more flavorful and quite a bit more food...more bang for your buck, Panda Express is very disappointing. It's shame that there aren't many local restaurants on Hurstbourne Pkwy - chain restaurants galore.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
