Our small group of family/friends were seated in an "old home style dining room," complete with a "real" dining room table, chairs, & fresh clean tablecloth; in a quiet home style setting. The huge stately oaks shaded the sidewalk as we easily strolled to the entrance. Our late lunches of burgers, sides & salads were very good, as was our service. An EXCELLENT dining experience !!!

Last time I went here, I had an excellent meal. They have wonderful salads and sandwiches, and you really can't go wrong. They serve large portions of fresh vegetables on their salads, which is one of the main draws for me. The sandwich with the Nova chicken, in specific, is divine. Also, their prices are unbeatable. Last time I went here they were doing glasses of wine for 3 dollars a glass. Can't say that you can beat that anywhere in the city!

Great family restaurant with great sandwhiches. Burgers are very good. Portions are healthy and the staff is very friendly. Prices have gone up a bit, but they are still affordable and a great value.

I'm a soup/salad/sandwich kind of meal person most of the time. A little bit of greens, a crusty sandwich, and some hot soup to wash it all down goes a long way for me when I'm hungry. I also happen to be a sucker for family-owned restaurants and fun places right in my backyard. Kayrouz hits all of those notes, which is one reason I'm such a fan. My favorite is the tomato basil soup, Kayrouz salad, and the Benny & Bacon. I don't know what it is about this combo, but it's one that never gets old. (Well, with the benedictine and bacon sandwich, it is pretty obvious what rocks it . . . the bacon!) The restaurant is small, but it's what I would describe as cozy or intimate, rather than being crowded. Service is always attentive and friendly, with my water glass filled before I even realize how low it's gotten. It's the kind of place I like to come to catch up with a good friend, and when the weather's nice, we take full advantage of the outdoors with the outside seating. The people-watching is decent, but you do have to be careful when you're outside, as Graeter's always lures from across Willis Ave. If you pace yourself just right during your meal, you might be able to go over there for something to top it all off. The only thing that could make Kayrouz even better in my book is if it were open on Sundays. Other than that, you'll find no complaints and one very happy patron in me!

I had put off going here for a long time but it's really a nice little place. Probably even better when the weather is warmer and you can sit outside and walk around St. Matthews a bit. I had the Nova Chicken Breast sandwich and would recommend it to anyone who eats here.

What a lovely quiet find. My husband stopped by and had a wonderful time. Great atmosphere. Fantastic salads and the black bean burrito is so full of flavor. The hot brown is defiantly worth a try.

Went with a group of 5of us for lunch. The squash soup was excellent and the sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. The French fries are awesome...the have this great coating that makes them very crunchy. The sweet potato fries were also terrific. The chili was just so so but overall our entire group loved what they ordered!

We love this place. They are dog friendly and always nice to our pup. Prices might be a tad too high for their offerings, but they are very friendly and the food is always solid. The patio is a nice spot in the community, but inside is great, and lovely if you sit near the cake selection. Highly recommend for lunch anytime!

We were here for an hour and thirty minutes. Only two servers. They tried, but tables were left unclean. Our drink orders took forever and our appetizer came out late. Atmosphere was freezing cold. Motz and Pesto was pretty bad too. Left very disappointed.

Great lunch spot with reasonable prices. I love the sandwiches and the sweet potato fries. Don't bother with chain sandwich shops, you can do so much better at Kayrouz.

Tucked away in the heart of St. Matthews, this little cafe has rockin' food. Eat outside in the shaded tables if you can for a nice ambiance. I love the Nova Chicken Sandwich- marinated, grilled chicken breast with caramalized onions, melted brie, bacon, and avacado. They also make great spicy fries as an accompanying side. Their hours have varied over the time they have been open, so check to make sure they are open before going.

Oh My! You must have hit them on a bad night. I am a little surprised you were even able to get a table on a Friday night! They are usuallu packed both in their front and back dinning room. I eat there at least twice a week and have NEVER had anything but fabulous experiences! Their burgers are the best ever, as well as their Ruben. And you won't get a better Hot Brown anywhere! I was delighted when, 5 months ago, the new owners chose to keep the same staff, cooks and menu (with a few delicious additions). They are upholding the Kayrouz tradition as an institution in St Matthews and a delightful destination. Bet if you try them again, you"ll have a wonderful meal!!
