Fries are always good, the whitefish sandwich with cheese is also a great choice. The prime rib is awesome, as are the prime rib sandwiches. You get large portions and the prices aren't bad at all. They have a bar with reasonably priced drinks as well. Half the reviews talk about the carry out not being great, well when you take forever to pick it up what do you expect? If you want carry out get it right away or go to the Mcdonalds down the street.

Picked up a couple of fish boxes when unexpected guests arrived & was pleasantly surprised fish was very very good! Fries & hush puppies were edible but far from great. Service was quick & food was hot.

Been enjoying their fried clams for years and years. Always fresh and tender. Never over cooked. My wife's favorite is the oysters. For her it brings back childhood memories of her dad bringing to-go orders home on Friday nights. And the price is right. Two entrees, salads, a side each and 2 soft drinks for $30. Save room for the fabulous homemade deserts! We had a group of 7 @ 5:30 and service was excellent.

I'm in town for business and staying at a local hotel. Ordered delivery through a third party delivery service. I got the 2 piece catfish dinner which comes with fries, coleslaw, and two hush puppies. The catfish filets were frozen and over cooked, almost burnt. The fries were cold, limp, and unsalted. The hush puppies were the worst I have ever had. They were cold and very bland, no spices or taste at all. I was unable to try the coleslaw as no silverware was provided nor were any napkins or condiments. I did get some "tarter sauce" which was also tasteless; mayo with hardly any relish. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this place.

The fried dill pickles were great. My husband loved the stewed tomatoes. I had the fried alligator for the first time and was not disappointed. A great seafood joint.

Hungry Pelican is one if those restaurants that has been around Louisville for many, many years. Unfortunately, I think the time has come for this restaurant to revamp or hit the road!!! Prices seem a quite steep for what you get. And the interior needs a serious makeover!! My salmon had many bones in it and when I informed the waitress of the problem, all she said was " sorry" and walked away! Really...for the price I paid I expected her to at least ask me if I wanted something else. If you want good seafood, don't eat here. And if you want great, attentive service...definitely don't eat here!
