My wife and enjoyed a perfect atmosphere on the patio - shaded and breezy. My sandwich was The JD Junior. THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD! My wife had a grilled chicken wrap and was extremely impressed. Huge portions and the chef dropped off two delicious brownies last time they brought cookies! We are in love with this place!

Very good service and very good food. Sat on the patio on a beautiful night after the KY Derby. Cool setting outdoors. Deviled egg app is awesome! Seemed a bit strange that the restaurant wasn't busy at 8p after the Derby. Their loss! My only complaint is that they need more than three beers on tap. Will definitely return.

My goodness! I expected so much more from this experience. What I received was 3 bloody chicken wings and deviled eggs that I know the devil made himself. That can be the only way to explain my upset stomach and my need to take shots of Pepto Bismal. I should have known when you have to call in Robert Irvine that spells trouble. Whatever he did, it was undone quickly. I am sick to my stomach. The lunch chicken wings are simply 3 wings with sauce (bourbon sauce not so much) and a serving a blue cheese dressing that had to be spoiled. The deviled eggs were not topped like in the photo but had some weird spam foreign meat substance on top. God why did I even try this?! Who can't fry a chicken wing thoroughly? Who can't make a deviled egg? If you value your stomach do not eat here! As we speak I am downing Pepto and praying to the stomach gods for some type of relief because this is like a slow death!!

I've never been to the coach lamp but I have heard many things both good and bad over the years. Since the place was recently revamped thanks to reality tv I decided that's it would be a good time to try it. The interior of the place is really nice and the patio is great, the outside of the building still needs a make over but not a big deal just not much curb appeal. I went with three people I only had the pear salad that look great and was dressed well, the poached pear wasn't very ripe but I really enjoyed the dish overall. My friends had the flatbread and the short ribs and both were excellent. All in all a great first trip. I'm excited to have a new spot so close to my house that isn't near bardstown road and all the traffic and parking issues. I will definitely be going back.

Until Restaurant:Impossible came to the Coach Lamp, we had never heard of this restaurant and we have lived in Louisville for years. Wow! We are so excited to brag about this gem of a restaurant. Between the incredible food (the fried chicken and braised short ribs were to die for!), the lovely atmosphere (the inside was warm and welcoming - we can't wait to sit on the patio when it warms up!), and the friendly staff (between the owners and our server, we were given attention from the time we walked in, throughout our meal, and after we were done)! It's amazing the possibilities this restaurant has! We will, without hesitation, be returning to the Coach Lamp with friends. If you live in Louisville, give this place a try :) It is SO worth your while!!

I work near the coach lamp and it's definitely a favorite. Been three times and it never fails me. My favorite part is they serve you a warm, fresh, chocolate chip cookie at the end of your meal. So yummy and just the right amount of sweetness. I have eaten their specials, which included a short rib flatbread pizza, and salads. All are amazingly good. Service was great and the patio so cool to sit, relax, and have a good meal. I highly recommended visiting.

We had a greet time tonight. Great options for the kids, the patio was beautiful, and the drinks were cheap! I got the snapper and it had a wonderful sauce, not too heavy. My husband had a burger and it was very good. The staff was super friendly and we'll definitely be back!!

This place is a wreck even after the revamping by Restaurant Impossible. We went the week following the reopening and the food was a disaster, with items being substituted from what we ordered off the menu without checking with us first, raw fried chicken, and unflavored horrible wings. The owner's daughter asked us to come back again and we would be offered exceptional service. So we gave them a second try. Despite the daughter's promises we were given nothing off our bill on the second try. And the food was just as bad all over again. Won't ever be back.

My review below was after the Restaurant Impossible make over with Robert Irvine. THAT was delicious! I have been back since and they have gone way downhill. The creepy cat lady painting are back. They are using bacon and claiming its is the same deep fried pork belly (it's not). Quality of the food went down. Too bad they wasted the opportunity the Mr Irvine gave them. I am not the only one who feels this way. I really wanted it to work, but it hasn't IMHO. Here is the review from after the reveal. A group of us ate dinner last night at the new and improved Coach Lamp restaurant on Vine street. This was the "after" presentation of Restaurant Impossible with Robert Irvine. They created an entire new outdoor dining area next to the building, which was beautiful, comfortable, and very clever. I won't go into the details of trying to dine as part of a TV shoot...suffice to say that things went slowly. That's what happens when you send 200 people into a restaurant all at the same time. HOWEVER, the food was top notch! And the service was excellent! Six of us all tasted each others apps, salads, entrees, and desserts....too many wonderful things to mention them all, but of special note were the "Tomato Basil Shrimp Chowder " (OMG), the "Tuna Tartare", the "Crisp Catfish" and top it all off with the "Bread Pudding" (another OMG). Full bar with extensive beer and wine list, and we were walking distance from home So, my Louisville friends, I encourage you to give this place a try (for the first time or try it again..it has improved). Robert Irvine is a very nice man. He seems to truly enjoy what he is doing and his motivation to help people seems very genuine. And, yes, he is just as hunky in person. I give this dining experience four stars and two snaps! The price is "spendy" ($30-$60 per person) not "splurge" as yelp currently has it listed. The six of us averaged $45 per person with drinks and generous tips.

We decided today to try the (new) Coach Lamp today for lunch and we arrived at the restaurant and it looked closed when we pulled up. We went inside and were seated immediately. The waitress promptly took our drink order and brought us our drinks. Then nothing! We sat there for 25 minutes and no one came back to take our order. The manager (I think) came by our table and said "you good?" But before we had time to respond he was gone. Needless to say we left $5.00 on the table and left. Poor service.

Watch the Restaurant Impossible episode before you go so you be fully aware of what you're getting into. This place is overblown & the menu is overpriced. Food is decent, service is acceptable, not outstanding and the ambiance is ok. Not really worth it for what you'll end up paying.

We went to Coach Lamp on the advice of some friends for pre-concert dinner. The place was empty at 6:30 on a Tuesday accept for a couple of guys at the bar. We were promptly seated in the "old tavern style" dining room by a friendly host/server. Beer choices were few, but good. I had a BBC pale ale. Had been craving a burger for days, so I went for the burger and fries. My wife had the hot brown. The food was out in 10-15 minutes. My burger was so good that I refused to share with my wife. She let me have a bit of her hot brown, which was an excellent twist on one of our favorite local dishes. The fries were some of the best we ever tasted - spicy, crisp, mouth watering but not at all greasy. The owner came by to check on us twice during our meal, suggesting the daily chocolate cake dessert special on his second pass. He brought the cake out for us to see it's awesomeness. I could not resist. Wife and I shared a large slice of the cake, which was delicious and reminded me of my mothers (only not as good, Mom!) I don't know why no one else was at the restaurant that night, but I don't care. We are looking forward to our next visit and will return with great expectations.

We went after the Restaurant Impossible makeover and were very disappointed. My chair was rickety and the creepy paintings were back on the wall giving it a weird cat lady vibe. The wedge salad with breaded pork looked gross but my husband and mother in law liked it. He got the b&b burger and thought it was pretty good. He said the fries were ok but nothing special. My mother in law and I got the braised short ribs. They had a weird burnt taste and were very watery. The potatoes had little taste and were a watery texture. My asparagus was hard and cold but she liked hers. We choked down our food and shared a bread pudding that was yummy but we still left hungry. For those prices we all agreed we wouldn't return.

Coach Lamp ruined my first Valentine's Day with my wife. They couldn't get more things wrong. Little things from having no music playing, big things like having a waitress they said has never served before and was given no training, and serving a steak that the kitchen manager said he knew was "bad". The waitress knew nothing of the menu whatsoever (didn't tell us about the prize fix menu, couldn't describe any items on the menu), nor even the basics of service, which is a big deal for a place that will cost you $50/person. We waited over 20 minutes for drinks and over 45 minutes for our appetizer, which came after the salad course.. I had to literally track her down elsewhere in the restaurant. She confessed to us that she forgot to ring it in for over 45 minutes (when the table that was seated after us finished eating got their check). She didn't think it would be appropriate to send the manager over, or at least come to us and explain. She somehow thought my scavenger hunt was more appropriate. The overpriced food was mediocre, except for the steak that had more than 4 square inches of fat on it, without exaggeration. This came right on top of that appetizer that took over 45. I put it on a separate plate to show the server. She didn't ask, so I volunteered why I did that. It was a huge. She said she would check with the kitchen and returned to say the manager said the cook had received a bad shipment and there was nothing they could do! Apparently, trimming meat is a skill they haven't learned. (I was a butcher in college and a steakhouse manager for my first job after college. Trimming large chunks of fat like this is easy.) When she delivered the check without asking about desserts, or refilling our drinks even once, I politely retrieved my credit card. The owner/manager, who had not yet been visible the entire evening finally decided to appear. We were the first table in the restaurant and there were no more than 4 seated tables the entire time, so there is no excuse for this. I explained to him what happened. He apologized and told me not to blame her, blame him. She is not actually even a waitress. He had his entire staff walk out on him and was desperate, so he had friends filling in. Could he possibly have a worse excuse? 1. Don't do whatever someone does to have their entire staff walk off. 2. Always have a stack of replacement applications. 3. Train anyone you put in the floor. 4. Check in on everyone, especially someone who you admit doesn't know what she is doing and hasn't done it before. His explanation for the steak was that this was a ribeye and that is how they come, because that was the tail. First of all, this wasn't the tail, it was the cap end. Second, it wasn't a square inch (the maximum you should expect). This was four times that. Third, even if I didn't know what I was talking about, don't argue with me because the customer is always right. Fourth, with all the other issues, most notably waiting over 45 minutes for my appetizer, you try and make things right. The manager said that he was sorry for the whole experience and feels bad we had a waitresses who has never served before and has never received any training, but we shouldn't blame her. We should blame him. (Glad to do so.) He then offered to buy us a dessert (yeah right), or give us a coupon for a future appetizer. He did not offer to take the app or the steak off the check, or to comp the whole meal (which he should have done), but to give me a discount on a future app or dessertl. What? Do I really want to come back and spend a ton of money for bad food and bad service? He can make excuses for the server, but not for the rest. Thanks for running my first Valentine's Day with my wife. I wanted to take her someplace nice, not someplace expensive that is less impressive in food and service than Applebee's (and I am no fan of Applebee's).

Best fried catfish I've had in a long, long time! This was my first visit to Coach Lamp and as I walked through the door I was greeted with warm hellos and the sweet smell of jambalaya wafting through the air. It was oh so tempting, but on a Friday in Lent I had to stay true to my alterboy duties and eat only fish that day. The special was catfish, which I begrudgingly ordered thinking it would be, at best, a penance for my weaker moments. But to my surprise the catfish they served was absolutely delicious. A crisp and flavorful crust encased the thick moist filet and it was hard to believe it wasn't from one of its more pricier cousins. The large slice was surrounded by slaw and potato salad that were equally as pleasing to the most refined palate. All in all it was a pleasurable lenten feast. I pray I'll be back to sample their meatier selections real soon! Amen.

A friend and I stopped in, by chance, for a drink at the bar. They have an excellent selection of bourbons at very reasonable prices. The staff couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating to us staying passed their closing time. More restaurants should be as warm and friendly as Coach Lamp.

Fantastic Shrimp and Catfish Poboys. I've been in Louisville 8 years looking for New Orleans style seafood and this is it. I can only speak for the lunch hour service which has been spot on both visits. Looking forward to making my way down the rest of the menu soon.

The service was awful. Took forever to get seated. Waitress was uninformed on the menu, including drink list. Service seemed confused and unsure. Food was mediocre.

The food was pretty decent. For lunch I had a sandwich, which was OK and my gf had the creole, which was really good. It was a little pricey for what we had. What irked me and will cost them my future business as well as my gf's office which just moved into that neighborhood, was the following; we had finished eating were brought our check, my gf asked if she could get "her" soft drink to go, which was a full glass on the table and hadn't been refilled. They brought her a coke in a to-go glass and gave us a new check with another $2.00 coke added on. My gf was taking me out for lunch or I would have let them know what I thought about that move. Wound up about $30 total for a sandwich, bowl of creole and drinks. Greed will always cost you in the long run. Won't be back when otherwise would have been a convenient meeting place for us and all of her co-workers.

We arrived with reservations for 8:00 for a Mardi Gras buffet. Understood that they were packed.....totally cool with that. Had drinks at the bar waiting for a table. Happen to glance around and notice that there were several empty table.and mentioned to the hostess, who did not keep us at all appraised of when we might be seated. She acted very, very stressed out. After mentioning the empty tables, she looked as though she might blow a gasket. Finally seated, she confronted us very aggressively whether we were satisfied!!! Then the server said they were overwhelmed....it was a buffet. Come on...aren't we all in the service business in one way or another. You don't get to blow your customers off. So....we left and won't go back!

Nice ambiance, great waitstaff that was very accomodting of the little ones. Just had a bottle of wine and a few appetizers which were all good. The fried artichoke hearts are quite good and the sauce was lovely. Love the "interesting wines" list.
