I loved Sutton's the first few times I went. I even had a going away party there with 10 of us. I had given them a lot of business, even referred them to others. I haven't returned in over a year, I will never go back. I had a huge issue with customer service. I sent the owners a complaint via their website. They never responded to acknowledge the situation. I wasn't looking for anything free, just an apology. I live about a mile away and thought I might have another "go-to" restaurant. I take customer service seriously, evidently it is not important to them.

I have eaten here a handful of times now and it has never disappointed, the service has always been fantastic and each dish I have tried has been 1. Huge and 2. Delicious! I have even gone two days in a row and all the servers came over to say hey again, our kids always get excited when we say we are going to Suttons!

So a friend invited me to lunch the other day, and he chose this place. The place was only 1/4 full so seating and service was prompt. They have these nice lunch specials, so I went with the half pizza and salad. Nothing extraordinary - just solid if unspectacular food. Pizza was on flatbread. Salad was standard house with blue cheese. Waitress was attentive without being overbearing. I'd go back again if someone invited me.

The basic italian spots of kentucky. The pizza was delicious and the stuffed mushrooms where off the wall amazing.

This was my first and only visit. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. However I had to send my salad back. The hot bacon dressing was cold and when our waitress brought me a new one, it was only slightly warm. My house Chardonnay was $9 which for this type of restaurant was overpriced. Very disappointed.

Nice lay out, good tv's. They let me try to club and I'm not a member. Also had onion rings

Went at 3pm on a Saturday. Was busy. Wife ordered Mediterranean pasta with scallops. Server let her switch to linguini instead of penne and add capers. I had the Italian combo sandwich (hot). Was all great!! David Zachary talked us in to the homemade bread pudding. Was outstanding!! We will return and enjoy again!!

One of favorite places in Lexington. Always stop by for dinner when I'm in town. The food is great, and I have tried at least half of the menu. The pastas have always been a good choice as well as the pizza. The appetizers are delicious too. The serving sizes are huge, and everything is well priced. Service has always been wonderful! First time a friend and I went, we had Bryce as our server and now every time we go, we have to sit in his section - we even made the manager switch his sections to be on the patio. If you get the chance to sit on the patio, you should. It's a great place to sit and enjoy the good weather during the summer. Wine Down Wednesdays are a favorite of mine - they have half price bottles of wine and include a good local variety including Jean Farris! If you don't finish the bottle, they'll re-cork it and bag it up for you to take home.

Good food, good service, good people! Suttons was recommended by our hotel conceige. They said we would not be disappointed and we were not! The pizza was thin crust and delicious. So were the salads and pastas. It has a casual ambience and is family owned. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Italian food!

Dropped in for lunch with a group of friends. We were seated quickly and our waitress came by to tell us about the menu and take our orders. Service was great and the pizza's and salads were very tasty. They make their dressing in house and they are very good. Was not there during a game, but I would suggest the place for a good meal and great service. Easy to get in and out for lunch.

The chicken parm here is pretty good and the portions and the menu has gotten better over time. I just wish they had angel hair pasta. It's better than regular spaghetti any day but I know harder to keep in the back all day. Owner is very nice although young management kinda aloof and not very personable. Servers are getting better here as well. Try it out!

The best Italian in this city hands down! Huge portions, excellent service and the best dining experience I've had in a long time. Love the Bocce Ball courts too and the bar makes some excellent drinks. Will be back!

This is my second visit here. I fell in love with the massive portion of mussels on their appetizer menu. Regular price $10. $8 during happy hour. Totally worth it. Today being a weekend day they had prime rib I tried it. Sides. Delicious. Prime rib. Tender and texture approved!!! Free wifi is another plus along with their full bar. To quote the former California's Governor's hit character; the Terminator, "I'll be back!" Special note about Alex the bartender because she laughed at my stupid jokes but still managed to provided fine service. Fyi. The made from scratch bread pudding with ice cream and a glass of the house red wine???? People; I don't smoke. But I need a cigarette after this. Yes!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!!!

I ordered the Mahi Limone. I describe it as grilled fish on a bed of spaghetti with lemon, capers and garlic. Sounds great! WRONG The fish was WAY over cooked. Even lemon, capers and the tablespoon of chopped garlic that topped it could not mask the overpowering fishy smell. I ate a little of the spaghetti. I wonder if the regular cook called in? I was looking for something light and healthy. Well, I learned my lesson. I'll stick with the bourbon barrel burger or any other dish featuring meat and cheese. Sutton's usually has delicious food. They have a great happy hour with an expansive selection of drinks to please everyone. Service has been consistently excellent.

Let me start off by saying that the review is based 90% on take out dining which is how I primarily eat from here. Ambience, meh...feels like a chain, looks like a chain, etc...nothing exciting about the decor or the location at all. Menu, solid staple of great Italian dishes with sizable portions. Sometimes they're excellent and other times they're just okay. They're still probably the forth of fifth best place in the city to get this type of cuisine. Service, well where do I start...it always sucks. Sometimes getting to-go food from the bar is just plain painful. When calling in your food they always seem annoyed to take your order and picking it up is even worse. Management could really fix this but they haven't. Price point, a little on the pricey side to be fair. The chicken Parmesan with red sauce is what I always get. It's been great for a while but the last few times have started to slip. It's still a decent meal but not what it once was.

I can't believe that I've waited so long to review this awesome local restaurant. Maybe I was afraid that the secret would get out. It's just off of Richmond Rd and Man O War Rd. I used to come here when I was often on that side of town at the ice rink or when I would go to the movies, I would stop to eat here first. It's within walking distance of the Movie Tavern across the street. The free starter bread with herbs and oil is a nice beginning touch. I've gotten the seafood pasta dish, which was excellent. I usually get a flat bread pizza as my meal my favorite pizza in Lexington, the BBQ chicken. I always have leftovers. The service is always top notch... Never a complaint from me about that here. On Wine Down Wednesdays they have half priced bottles of wine.

This is one of my go to spots for Italian food. I like that you can watch the game and have fun with your friends on the patio. In warmer weather they have live music on the patio. The owner comes around and talks with. This place has a nice Chicago style charm. With the black and white gangster photos all over the walls.

I'm from Southern California so trying to find a place that will deliver good food and take payment over the phone from a distance can be hard. Sutton's was recommended to me by a coworker as a nice place with reasonable prices that also delivered so I decided to give it a shot. A friend of mine that lives in Lexington recently had a loss in her family so I wanted to send some food so she wouldn't have to worry about cooking. I'm so glad I chose Sutton's. While I can't speak on behalf of the food, the customer service was wonderful! I worked with multiple people and they were all so helpful with the menu, payment options, as well as delivery times. I'm so glad I stumbled across this place via Yelp and should I ever need some food delivered again in the Lexington area, Sutton's will be the first place I call!

(3.5 stars) At the Incredible food show I had a sample of Sutton's pasta and the bread pudding dessert. They gave me a coupon for $5 off $25 or free appetizer. It's near my house and I had never tried it before, so this past Friday night I went with a friend. The inside of the restaurant is dark and the décor seems to be undecided as to whether it is fine dining or casual. After we ordered water to drink I looked at the coupon and realized that you have to order two entrees and two drinks to get the free appetizer. I asked our young waiter if we would need to order soft drinks to get the free appetizer, but he said no and we ordered the calamari. Later, he said that he checked with a manager and that we would need to order drinks to get the free appetizer. We didn't mind and ordered soft drinks. He seemed to be new to the job. I've had better calamari at the big chain place in town. It was good, but a tad rubbery. For my entrée I had the seafood pasta. It had shrimp, mussels, and squid. I enjoyed the shrimp, but not the squid. The pasta had a light buttery and tasty sauce to it. I would order this dish again without the squid. This is a place that I would try again and hopefully update my rating to 4 stars! Next time I will skip the appetizer and to try one of their delicious looking desserts!

Came here for a late night bite since we arrived at our downtown Lexington hotel relatively late on a Tuesday night. I ordered the Chicago beef sandwich. The description of the sandwich was a hoagie with beef dipped completely in au jus. However, upon eating the sandwich, I found that for some reason there was sausage in the center. I read and re-read the description to make sure I had ordered correctly. I don't know if they thought I wouldn't notice the sausage if they put beef around it? My boyfriend had the wings which he liked. If the bartender hadn't been so nice I would've given this place one star. The other patrons were noisy. Beer selection was pretty good. It definitely had a chain restaurant feel to it. Not my kind of place.

It was ok...my hotel said it was a must try....my daughter loved her shrimp....I ordered the seafood pasta to me it was bland even with salt...My waiter had a attitude and wasn't very friendly....despite this all the other staff were smiling and nice...the restaurant was very clean. Prices were decent... I would go back to try another dish.

So, I have reviewed this place before but I'm learning that sometimes you just have to know what to order at a restaurant. That being said, I've been here many times. It is one of the only restaurant options near my house that is locally owned (first/main criteria for me when deciding where to dine!). I have to say that I have never had a bad pasta dish there and the pizzas are great, but I have to say two times I had a steak there, it did not met my expectations. But that doesn't keep me from going back. I love so many other things on their menu (eggplant parmesan, diavlo pasta, veggie pizza, scallops and pasta....). They are definitely a recommended restaurant from me and my family.

What a great find! We had considered Suttons before because they seemed to be the only restaurant in this town that stays open past sunset. We were so pleasantly surprised by our 1st visit there. It is very comfortable and has the type of service you hope you'll get when eating out. Our server was Paul and he was perfect. Told us about the dishes he thought we'd like, not pushy & did not rush us . He brought us two drinks that totally lived up to what a drink should be. They are not afraid of using alcohol. Next, he brought 2 dishes of wonderfully cooked food that showed it had been done with real care. Seafood was as fresh as the coast ,the sauce was exactly right. The whole while we were made to feel at home and very comfortable! If you are looking for a great place, this is it! You won't be sorry. Casual attire and atmosphere.

Great Ambience !! Love it the children were not loud they had old time bluesy jazz playing in background. My favorite appetizer is the calamari with lobster dipping sauce. They had a great selection of Tequilas I got 1800 Respasado with my meal , and a HEFTY pour at that! Yeah! For Me! Thank you barkeep! Good tip in store for You! I can recommend any of the pasta dishes or the Prime Rib !!! Perfectly done as requested!

Came here at 1230am and one of only few Lexington spots that serve food past midnight. Sutton's is located in the Kroger Plaza on Richmond Road near Man O' War. During late night hours, they serve appetizers and flatbread pizza. Obviously, with a hard workout today, I opted for a plain flatbread pizza. The sauce is a bit dry and need more flavor. It felt like I was eating Ellio's pizza (Popular in the NE) but the pizza is function-able. The server was pleasant and it's just wicked late night meaning you are not going to get top notch food but just edible stuff. Only if we can get some authentic 24/7 food joints here in town rather than depending on well known chains. Here's a song from the 70's: Nighthawk Postcards (From Easy Street) (Tom Waits 1975) Yeah, check out the street and it looks likes kinda of a... kinda of a blur drizzle down the plateglass And there's a neon swizzle stick stirring up the sultry night air Looks like a yellow biscuit of a buttery cue ball moon Rollin' maverick across an obsidian sky This is a place for nighthawks here in Lexington. #sleeplessinlexington

The service was slow and the wait staff was not helpful with suggestions! Considering it was a Friday night around 6:30p.m & the restaurant wasn't even half full (that should have been our sign)! Ordered a children's pizza, they forgot to cut it (they discovered this on their own) I would have cut it with a knife on the table. So they take the child's pizza back and forget it. Five minutes later they tell us it was thrown away and they needed to make another. Ten minutes later, the meal was delivered. The child was not overly happy having adults sitting around him eating and he had nothing. Thank goodness he has good manners! We received a half hearted apology and that was that, no big deal to them! Mushroom stuffed Ravioli was far to chewy. The other dish, a shrimp pasta of some sort, had a whopping 4 shrimp on the dish! Chocolate Mousse was chocolate pudding mixed with some whipped cream or that was at least how it tasted. The Tiramisu, a dry layer cake that tasted worse than something I could pull off with a boxed cake mix, actually we have had better cakes made from boxed products. I have had much better quality, taste and amount of food at many other restaurants. With a choice, this would not be my first place to dine!

My business frequently has business lunches and orders carry-out from Suttons. Their Pepperoni Pups are great. Calamari comes with some amazing dipping sauce and fried banana peppers. (I order this every time) Cesar Salad has never been disappointing but it's salad, can't really mess that up. Their bread is good (finally a place that serves wheat bread instead of white) but the oil/spices they give with the bread tastes just like bland olive oil. Really not that great but eh, it's oil. I tried their grilled chicken and it was among the best chicken I've had. I loved it! The grilled sugar snap peas were amazing too and a perfect pairing. Delicious!

The food was very fulfilling. I had the chicken broccoli pasta with a side salad. Took my granny for the first time. She had the same and the portions were big so she took half of hers home. Will definitely be going back.

Tried out last night and had a positive experience. This staff was great and the drink specials late night in pub are awesomely priced. The food is what you'd expect of an American Italian place (not bad but definitely not authentic). I would return just for the late night $3 wells.

I read some of the review ls from my Yelp group and was excited to try this place. I was really disappointed. The place was leaking. Yes that's right Leaking. My steak was awful, Mac and cheese was instant and my sweet potato fries were burnt. This place will close soon enough. I will never go back. The health department needs to do a follow-up before the roof collapses and someone gets hurt.

This place is an okay place the wait was long and there really is no place to wait. We were constantly in people's way. My daughter ordered the shrimp and the portion was so small I had to give her some of mine so she didn't go hungry. Over all we would not recommend this restaurant and we will not be back.

This is as authentic Italian as you will get without getting a passport to Italy or going to New York City. We went here on two occasions and twice the food and staff of Suttons exceeded our expectations. My wife and her family are as Brooklyn Italians as you can get, and they rave about the authenticity of the food. The pasta is fresh; seafood is memorable; and the bread pudding, although not an Italian dish, is to die for. In fact, we went here just to enjoy their world famous bread pudding. The service is impeccable. My wife asked for fresh garlic in her oil to dip her bread in. Although not something that is requested on a regular basis, the wait staff were on top of it and she got fresh garlic immediately. Our water was always filled, the bread basket was never empty and the service never stopped. I ordered the seafood pasta. Besides my wife's late grandmother's version and the one on Brooklyn, this was the best I have ever had. The seafood tasted like Kentucky borders an ocean, and the pasta is perfectly al dente. I would have ordered another serving, but dessert awaits, We had dinner at the Merrick Inn the previous night. Suttons is far a better establishment when it comes to food, drinks and service. And no reservation is needed!!!

I've been to Sutton's twice and the truth is there really isn't much that sets this place apart. I will say the calamari was pretty poor, not really crispy, kind of chewy, but the banana peppers with it were good as was the sauce. The chicken fingers and onion rings while above average wouldn't be a reason to make a trip here. One thing that gives this place an extra star is the service, our waiter Chance was very attentive, knowledgeable and an asset to their staff.

First time here at Suttons, It was fantastic! Very energetic atmosphere with great conversations all around. The food was fantastic, I had the chicken. Davalo I believe that's what it was called. Gordon which is the owner was walking around and talking to everyone which made the atmosphere that much better. I will Def be back and have something new to eat. Great place!

Like most small places this restaurant suffers from hit or miss service. Sometimes it's excellent. Sometimes you wonder what planet your server is from (and if they'll return to your table any time soon). Most of the menu is very good, surprisingly one of my favorite items is the cheeseburger. They are excellent. Pastas and sauces are also good. The steak is better than you might expect for an italian place. I would give them a solid "4 stars" if they could better train their staff and/or hire better.

Unfortunately there are not many good Italian restaurants in Lexington . The Sutton's menu is good. Be willing to deal with servers that do not care. Warm wine and cold food. Excuses for both. I do not expect to have to fix the warm wine with ice cubes.

I just went there this evening, and am writing this review before I even finish my food. I work near this restaurant. We often order as a group, or when we have VIPs from around the world come in we take them out to eat. I was pleasantly surprised by my first experience. A co-worker and myself chose to call in an order for carry-out, and I will admit I was a little nervous with the time frame given to me. Fifteen minutes... Makes me thing fazolis or something if the food is going to come out that quick. Wow, was I surprised. When I got there, the wait staff were kind and speedy. The food was fresh and delicious. If there are any complaints I could make they are minor, but I will address them anyhow. With a restaurant as pricey (well worth the price, btw) you would think they could give better plastic utensils when you get an order to go. I was not able to eat my chicken alfredo with the fork they provided. You also have to pick up your to go orders at the bar, something that likely isn't an issue on most nights. They were a little busy tonight, though, since there was a game being aired, so things were a little crowded. I could see things getting really packed there depending on the night, so maybe a dedicated area, when things are busy, for people to pick up their to go orders. Aside from that, will certainly eat there again.

Went to Suttons and I had a special coupon. Buy an entree and get one at or less value for free. I called in to place my order for carryout. When I got there, I was awaiting at that desk thing where waiters wait you to your table. The guy was on his phone; but I think the owner, who was sitting down helped me to realize that I was suppose to go to the bar to get the carryout (he looked like George Lopez btw). Anywho, I get to the bar and I wait a while, maybe like 10 minutes until the order comes out. I say my thanks and leave a tip. Through all this, the gal, Marina, was courteous and always said "Sir Borkar" and "Mr. Borkar". I love it! I ended up ordering the hot brown, porkchop, and suated mushrooms. All were good. Even the free bread they gave. If there was any downside to this place on food, I would say that the porkchop was kind of tough really..both to cut and chomp on. Probably because it went cold. Then again, it was only covered with aluminum foil on the bottom of a styrofoam/plastic carry out box. Ah well. Cannot win them all.

Man O Man....we just moved to the Lexington area and this is by far our favorite place to eat. The food is delicious..big portions..friendly wait staff...great atmosphere. We have been taking out of town guests there and they think its as incredible as we do! You'll never go back to Olive Garden!

My wife and I were driving southbound on I71 towards Sparta, KY when a newer Nissan Armada kept riding our rear ends. He tried to pass several times but traffic was too thick. Each time he did he accelerated to over 90 mph and then slammed on his brakes just to get back behind us. Once he past us he also cut us off on the front end as well as several other people as he weaved his way through traffic. We had to do almost 95 mph just to catch up with him and get the phone number off of the side of the vehicle. The magnet said Sutton's Restaurant and had a phone number so my wife called to complain. The person who answered was at the restaurant but stated that it was the owner's vehicle and that she would pass along the message. We continued to follow him to Indiana where we found he was going to the casino. Hate to see how he drives after an afternoon of losing money and drinking. I would definitely not contribute to this business due to the owners lack of caring or respect for others.

My husband, his family, and I went here last Sunday night and it was pretty good! We didn't have a reservation, but they still managed to seat our large group almost right away. The space is a little dark and cramped, but the mood is good and it is not too loud. We had calamari as an appetizer: it was good but nothing special. We all tried different main dishes, and the favorites were their fra diavalo and the chicken Gorgonzola. The portions were large and the prices were decent. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. Overall it was nice! I will go again!

Ummmm. This place was okay compared to the other restaurants in the area. I was quite sicken by the fact that a UK Basketbal game was playing on all TV screens, but not the Uof L Bowl Game. UK fans are such haters! They never want to acknowledge the success of the Cardinals. Despite the fact of the massive UK Wildcat overload, the service was on point and I got the typical southern hospitality (Kentucky-style) I love. I will comeback because of the service.

All of their food was wonderful and the server was knowledgable and helpful. The calamari is good, and the Chicago steak sandwich is out of this world. The first beer we ordered they were out of, which seems to be a theme with us, but everything else was great.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
