I've never been disappointed in Steak 'n Shake... The service is always great and the food is always pretty darn good. A great burger joint through and through. :)

No. Never again. This restaurant was FILTHY - floors, tables and seats - and the food was mediocre at best. I had a chili cheese dog with fries and my friend had a bacon steakburger and a shake, and none of it was good, even by fast food standards. Table servers are completely unnecessary in a place like this; counter service would have been much more efficient. I would not eat here again.

Food is so so to be honest but the night management staff is great if your looking for a place late night to get your grub on.

I normally visit probably once a month in the drive thru. It was a Thursday night and my little sister and I decided to dine in. We were never waited on. At all. We waited there standing for about 5 minutes. The manager even looked at us, but he was at the cash register. Another family walked in front of us to go to the register, which is fine, we weren't ordering to leave, we were dining in. I made eye contact with numerous staff members and all ignored us. The sign says "Please wait to be seated" but no one ever sat us. I grabbed two menus and sat at the booth closest to us for about five minutes and no one came. This is awful service and I guarantee that I won't be back. I understand that Steak and shake can be busy, but not so busy that you forget and ignore customers and leave them with a terrible review of your restaurant.

I don't eat red meat anymore, so that's probably why if never been here before. We were in the area, hungry, and in a bit of a hurry, so I found myself here for the first time. It was a Saturday, around noon. When I walked in, people were standing everywhere. There was no organization and I had no idea where to stand. Some people had already put their name down, and others were waiting to be put on the list. The only way to figure out where the end of the line was to ask the people standing around if they were in line or if they'd already put their name down. Management really need to step up in the organization area. I seriously almost walked out and then a guy explained that the list moves fast. He was right, it was about five minutes after I'd walked through the door and I was seated. I really wasn't expecting to be a restaurant, but it was more up that alley. The kind where you sit down, order from the menu and then waited on by a waitress. So if you're not prepared to tip 20% then go thorough the drive thru. Also, it's not a steakhouse, it's a burger and shake place. Why they call it steak instead of burgers and shakes, is beyond me. I ordered a grilled chicken taco salad but I really wanted to try the fries, so I ordered those too. I forgot to ask for my dressing on the side as I usually do, but they didn't douse it, so I was good. The next time I order it, I'll ask for the tomato paste concoction on the side because I didn't like it. Also, the lettuce wasn't the freshest around, a bit browning in places, but I guess that's what I get for ordering a salad at a burger place, right? The fries were shoe string size, you can pay an extra $.29 and have them seasoned Cajun, and a few other options. I started to choose to have mine seasoned with salt and vinegar but opted for the plain ones instead. I was expecting to pay $1.79 for a small fry, which is the price that the menu listed, but I was only charged $1.25 for the fries as an "add on" side. That was a nice surprise. Overall I had a three and a half star experience, but I'm not sure when I'll be back to update it so I'll round it to a four and leave the burger opinions to the next reviewer ;)

I hadn't been here in quite a few years and had it on the brain for the past week. The service was just incredible... over-the-top friendly and everyone seemed happy to be there, which is of course unusual to see in an almost fast-food restaurant. The food wasn't QUITE as good as I remembered; the burger seemed a little dry and tasteless to me. Anyway, 5 stars for the service and 3 for the food.

This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants and one of the most deserving of a five star rating. The staff is more than friendly and the food has its own delicious taste. The milkshakes are awesome, the burgers are thin, the way I like them, and the fries thin and flavorful - my favorite of any restaurant.

You know what?! I hate you! Yes. I hate you. I have only like 8 more items to try on your menu before I have tried everything and I will be happy after I am done. Spicy chicken sandwich = a spicy chicken patty between two buns??? No lettuce, tomato, or condiments? What century is this? You might as well have taken it LITERALLY and put sand on the patty. That would have been an IMPROVEMENT! UGH! Good thing i also ordered an Apple Harvest Salad. I had to relocate a slice of a tomato and lettuce. They were both not happy about the move!!

This place never disappoints! It use to be a hangout place for me and my buddies late at night when no one else seemed to be opened. The food is good with great prices! And if you make it between 2-4am their shakes are half off! As for the service its a hit and miss. Depends who's working the graveyard shift lol.

I'm From the west coast so I've never had Steak 'n Shake. So glad we made it a point to try it. Went to dine in on a Thursday afternoon and it was packed!! So we decided to do drive-thru. Service was fast and the good was delicious! I went with the number one combo and a chocolate milk shake. If you come here make sure you get a milk shake! Don't just have a regular soft drink. Attitude of drive thru gal was meh. Just doing her job without being friendly or smiling. : / 4 stars for delicious and fast food!

I love the Steak and Shake chain. I think they have a great product at a good price. This 3* review came as a surprise to me. Pros: - Good Location - Good Food at a good price - Great parking Cons: - My wife's shake was a small chocolate but was only half full. - My hot dog was very poorly made. It had pretty good taste but the look just was bad and showed a lack of attention to detail. I will definitely come back to this particular Steak and Shake and see if it was just a one time deal.

went last to dinner there with my daughter and grandsons. I thought it was nice and clean. The servers were friendly and the prices were very resonable. It looked kinda like the 50's and had pictures of old picture of the Steaks n shakes. I had the triple slider cheesesteaks w/fies and a salty carmel shake, my youngest grandson had the mini corndogs w/fries, the other 2 had the burger and fries plus birthday cake shakes. It was fast service and the meat & buns very tender.I was kinda disappointed that with the 50's theme, that there was no music playing or little junkboxes on tables. I would probly go back. I wasnt to impressed with it.

Love this place. Every time I'm down by hamburg I always stop in and grab something to go. Not to mention this was my first job when I moved to lexington years and years ago. But the peanut butter and banna milkshake is heaven in a Styrofoam cup!!! The only thing I have to complain about is the last time I came my wife and 4 yesr old son came in with me and we sat at the bar and ordered to go and the guy taking the orders and letting people pay kept make rude and very crude remarks to the cooks about every girl that came and paid. I mean even using extremely bad language and all. I was very disappointed because the guy had just been talking to my son the runs off "oh man that last b!tch can get it, I'd f*ck the shit outta her.. Thank god my wife took my son out and told me to keep my mouth shut.. But if it wasn't for that I'd go 5 stars all day!! I still love the place but just can't tell my wife that lol!!

Four years later and it is still a good place to eat. However, is it my imagination or are the patties much thinner now? Good value for your money especially on "kids eat free" weekends and combine it with coupons from the newspaper.

The food was great. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the service. Evidently she was having a bad day and took it out on all of her customers.

When out in the 'burbs and need a quick bite to eat, I found myself with a limited amount of chain restaurants to choose from; even more limited were those open late. My friend and I went to the Steak n Shake to place a take-away order. We asked for milkshakes while we waited which didn't show up until the rest of the food arrived. It was our mistake for not checking the bag before we left the restaurant, but the burgers were missing some condiments, the fries were cold, and our side of mac n' cheese was forgotten. For fast food, the burgers tasted warm and fresh and the shakes hit the spot. It wasn't a spectacular meal, but it ate. Price per person: $7.00

Great food at a decent price. But the location's awful. It's good, but nothing really stands out about this Steak and Shake.

There's not a better shake in town, but the burgers are a bit skimpy. The food is good, but this place is often understaffed, especially for as busy as they are regularly. I can't say it's worth the wait, but the food is of a good quality.

good prices and quick service. tip. sit at the bar top and you will get attentive service and get to see how they make the burgers. plus you are tipping out the front checkout clerk who doesn't usually get tipped.

I'm craving a Wisconsin Buttery right now. I just took a trip back to Lexington and this was the first stop I made, even before I hit where I was staying. Steak Burger w/ butter AND bacon AND cheese? All of my favorite condiments! Yup. #alltheydoiswin.

The Frisco burger isnt what it used to be w/ lettuce and tomato, but it is still good. Dont try to make it home w hot fries they will def be cold by the time you make it home from the drive thru. The best thing here is the chocolate/banana side by side shake! If you dont get it you are cheating yourself.
