In search of fellow Yelpers recommendations for great places to watch a UK football game, I stumbled across O'Neills. It's in a strip mall off of Richmond Road, near Cobas and Durangos. I got there about an thirty minutes before the game. At first I tried sitting at the bar but soon had to move after being annoyed by the lady sitting next to me. She was attempting to make UK jokes in a sea of blue, who does that?! I moved onto the the low top table directly in front of the big screen, in front of the stage where a band apparently would later play. We started with an order of nachos (substituting the chili for grilled chicken). I hate not knowing the price of what I'm ordering so the fact that they didn't have a bar menu, was slightly annoying. Also, I don't venture out much when it comes to cocktails, so I like suggestions from a bar menu, one that doesn't exist here. So I stuck with wine. After my second drink, I learned that Happy Hour was until 7pm. When I asked what that included, I was told everything behind the bar. Back to the food... for the record, there were several people in our party, so I didn't throw down all of this by myself. The game day wings were $.75, which I think were a fair price but anything more would be overpriced. The game day appetizer sampler was a choice of any three appetizers for $10. I chose chicken tenders as one of the three choices and it included three tenders. The service wasn't excellent but I don't think the waitress expected us to order so much and only stay until half time, so she was a bit unattentive. The crowd was mostly middle aged. There was one group who looked younger than 21 though, most of them looked like hookers, they stuck out like a sore thumb. So, if you're looking for somewhere to show off your shortest skirt and take groupies in front of the big screen, this is not the place. Now you know one reason that I left at halftime. GO CATS!

Oneills is a typical sports pub. They have a lot of TVs and would be good to watch games there. Came out with some friend to enjoy a band. They usually have bands every weekend night. I tried their Hawaiian quesadilla and it was so good. Barbeque chicken, pineapple and pepper jack cheese. It was a bit pricey since it didn't include anything else, but I would order it again. They do have a cover charge at night for the bands.

This is a great little Pub to stop in for a drink and a quick bite. They have indoor seating and covered outdoor seating. They have a variety of adult beverages and the typical pub food. They have lots of tvs around which makes this a great game time hang out. Then randomly they host live music from the local scene. The wait staff and bartenders are always friendly and helpful. If the kitchen is running behind, they will be honest to tell you before you place your order. I love that about them. If you are on this side of town, stop in and take a load off. Order up a pint and some snacks. I am sure you will like it.

We stopped several places trying to find a place to watch a UK Bball game on a Saturday afternoon and several places were full, standing room only. On a whim we stopped here and I was surprised that the place wasn't packed. We went in hesitantly figuring there is usually a reason when this situation arises. Well, I am glad we stopped and I can't imagine why there weren't more people here, it is a Great place for it. Plenty of TV's and even a HUGE projection TV in the bar area. (Not a bad seat in the house, I'd rate this aspect 5 stars.) The $.75 chicken wing special during the game was a great way to try the variety of sauce options. We tried the Jamaican jerk, butter and garlic and traditional hot buffalo. They were all very good but there was something strange that I noticed. While the Jamaican jerk and garlic butter wings were large and very fresh (too hot to handle) the buffalo were decidedly different. The wings were somewhat smaller and were not freshly cooked or very warm to touch. So, what is it, frozen, pre-packaged? Cooked ahead? I'm not sure but I don't think I'll order them again. The rest of the meal was very good, we had The Ringer burger, BLT, and I think my wife got the Club. As I said, they were all good but nothing remarkable. One thing I can't stand is a place that serves chips (these are homemade at least) with a $8-$10 sandwich then upcharges for fries. (I will give them this much, it was a good size portion.) I would love to give a better rating than this because they were very generous when it came to correcting a order mistake but the slow service and questionable origins of the buffalo wings gives me pause. If I am in the area at game time I may give it another try, I'll update if that happens.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. Went with a few coworkers after work to get a drink and some food. They wanted to sit outside so they could smoke which didn't bother me at all. We'll to find out you have to go inside to order your drinks and food. Kinda weird and didn't like that but okay. We go inside to order and I get a burger, which they are famous for. They have one for every major football team. We land up eating inside because it started to rain. Get my burger and wow! It was just down right the best burger I've had while down here. The cook came up to see how everything was and told him amazing. Great food, good service, need a better idea about the outside and how they do things.

Nice bar and patio area. I honestly hadn't been in O'Neil's since the remodel and I was pleasantly surprised. My bf and I sat at the bar so bartenders doubled as servers. They were friendly and service was fast (the place was almost completely empty save a few random people around the bar and out on the patio) unfortunately the potato skins were burned and the onion rings were close to it. Overall the food was ok (probably really good if not slightly toasted) and the decor was that of the nicer sports-bars in Lex. I think we'll go back. Looks like it could get lively on a Fri or Sat night.

Wanted to try a new burger in Lexington, since I didn't feel like cooking one and everyplace we've tried has mediocre burgers (including the once-impressive but now flavorless O'Round). I have friends who love this place for the bands on the weekend, so we tried it out. Ordered two pub burgers and a beer cheese platter for a dinner while watching some college football. Very pleasantly surprised. The appetizer beer cheese had nice heat and depth of flavor (as former Winchester residents and beer cheese festival regulars, we're --maybe a bit sadly--connoisseurs). And unlike a lot of beer cheese platters, instead of 4-5 tiny pieces of celery and some package saltines, there were crackers, celery, carrots, homemade tortilla chips, cucumbers, and olives. So big we didn't finish half of it. For the entrees, I had my burger medium and my wife had hers well. Both were cooked perfectly to order, juicy, and flavorful. I was particularly impressed my wife's wasn't charred to a crisp considering it is a thick burger which would be hard to cook well and not dry out. The fries were...well... fries. Nothing special, but we're talking about a pub burger and fries here. They were fine. We'll order from there again, and having seen the bar, plan to visit for a drink as well.

I go for poker and it is always a great time! The bartenders are fun and very personable (Ed is the greatest!) and the atmosphere is relaxing. I highly recommend whether you are going for poker or just to hang out!

I've given this place three tries. I travel a lot so when a place is recommended I'll check it out. The first time the food was horrible, if someone thinks it's great, they really need to get out more. The prices are fine, but maybe we just had a bad chef that day. My biggest issue is the rudeness and deplorable behavior of the bartenders. Three times over the past two years, and it's still the same. The first time we sat at the bar for almost 15 minutes while some yahoo flirted with the guy across the bar, then hastily and with a BAD attitude poured our drinks. She made mine wrong, used the wrong liquer in fact and still wanted to charge me. So we left. The second time, some long haired old bartender made the visit almost the same. NO ONE was in there, but for some reason it was just WAY TO DIFFICULT to pour a beer and make a whiskey sour. If you hate your job, find a new one. She was so rude I vowed to NEVER go back. Then last night I was out with a friend and she wanted to pop in. Besides another RUDE bartender who lied to me about my drink, she made it wrong, was rude to my friend when she asked for a lime, and in general should not be a bartender....there was like 4 other employees just floating around.....we had to wait about 10 minutes before being acknowledged. She couldn't handle a bar with like 10 people, seriously. at about 11:45 this fat guy comes out rings a bell and screams we need to drink em out, and get the hell out. This is not a college bar.....it was not called for. Then the twit of the bartender finally asks the people next to us if they'd like another drink. Ummmmm they've been waiting for 20 minutes, and now they have, after the time you get the drinks, 5 minutes to guzzle them down. Waste of time, just don't go there. I have found some great irish pubs in Lexington and this place just needs to go away.

Great burgers and sandwiches, and typical pub fare like fish and chips and shepherd's pie. They have just installed a bunch of tables with a tap in each one so you will be able to refill your pitcher right from your table. Good selection of beers, and lots of big screen TV's.

If you go to O'Neills website you can see their menu, which puts the irony on full display. "Traditional Irish Pub" it says. Menu items? Southern fried chicken wings, quesadillas, nachos, etc... By "traditional" I guess they mean normal American bar food with Irish puns in the name: "o'nachos" and "gaelic mushrooms." haha. Riiiiight. This is not the pub I was looking for.

Stopped in to meet some friends out for some fun. Decided to eat while I was there and choose the Ruben and the loaded tots. It was fantastic! They use meat from a local BBQ place just like campus pub does. There was a band playing with a $5 cover to get in and the table service was good for as crowed as the place was. It's one of the few places left in Lexington you can dance at that I'm aware of if you like to dance. They have a nice patio with t.v.'s and music. The one negative I have is the entrance on the side is where all the smokers stand and it comes back into the bar and all over the patio so it makes it seem like people are smoking inside. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke so not good for me.

We found a Groupon for this place in Lexington, so my mom and I thought we would give it a try. The menu has SO many options. First, there is the regular menu which has about twenty different items on it. Then, there is the NFL burger menu. A burger for each team in the NFL. I took about twenty minutes to decide because everything sounded so delicious. (our waitress was very patient and helpful). I finally settled on the Steelers burger. It was outstanding. The burger literally had bacon inside of the patty. I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be returning.

Nice people, very nice interior and furnishing, great food, good value. Easy to find, just a short distance down Richmond Road, inside New Circle Road. website: oneillslex.com Entertainment most nights, with a cover charge Fridays and Saturdays Dine on the patio or on your own keg table. Yes, plop down to your very own tap table and drink your favorite adult beverage to your hearts content. Pay for your beers by the gallon, or was it by the liter? UPDATE 11/03/2011 - I understand that the restaurant is under new management which means nothing to me since i live 600 miles away. But - I was happy with the place as it was before, so best of luck to those who find them. Just hoping the men's room got updated and fixed with the new owners.

Got a keg table and absolutely loved it. We got in right before a band went on so we didnt have to pay a cover charge which is always nice. Beer at the table was a tad pricey but who cares? We didnt have to wait in line at the bar! The live music added an extra touch to it all. The crowd here is quite diverse. There was college kids and people old enough to be their parents there as well.

This place is a standard beer/sports bar. It's actually more inviting than it appears from the outside. The food and drinks are pretty cheap, and it looks like they have pretty good specials. The food was all pretty good. Their chicken sandwich was actually a lot better than I was expecting, and they have crinkle fries that were pretty good.

When we lived on this side of town we would come here once in a while to hang out and grab a drink and an appetizer. The have a cool patio to sit outside and I miss a good patio!! I have only had appetizers and the wings from what I remember we're pretty good. Bartenders are always friendly! I like that it isn't filled with college kids and it's off the downtown beaten path so they stay away.
