I love going here when I don't really care about calories, my BMI or if I can ever fit in to a pair of jeans again. What is not to love? It's a cupcake with icing piped on triple the size of the cake. The cake is usually moist and tasty and the icing is sugary and flavorful. It it American style, which is to say, super sweet. I do recommend splitting one of these with a friend.

Here is the trick to eating these cupcakes - cut the cake part in half and put it on top and smoosh it down. Eat whatever icing runs over the sides and wah-la. Cupcake sandwich. That being said, they give you an icing overload. So much in fact that I think of Wilfred Brimley every time I walk in (he sold diabetic supplies for those that aren't old enough to remember the commercials). If you love icing, this place is for you.

Outstanding cupcakes. So many luscious, creative flavors. I'd only like to see less frosting and more cupcake. ( FYI-- PIES are coming!!!!!) NOTE: Special savings with military ID.

We recently went here twice in a two week period when we were visiting the area. Had I written the review after the first visit, I would've given 4 stars as the cupcakes are fresh, there's a wide variety of flavors and the service was awesome. The second visit still had fresh cupcakes, but the 'variety' was still the same as days earlier even though the brochure had different flavors listed for each day of the week. The girl working behind the counter couldn't tell us anything about any of the cupcakes- what was in them, if there was a price discount for buying in larger numbers- couldn't get the register to work, then couldn't find how to ring them up, etc. We wanted to buy 4 minis so my toddler would have some to snack on, but were told that two of the four flavors weren't ready yet (3 hours after opening) and that no, we weren't allowed to buy the two flavors that were ready. So...yes the cupcakes are pretty darn good- although way too much icing that has to be scraped off- but the service is hit or miss, as are the flavors. Would probably only return for a custom order.

The gluten-free cupcakes are to die for. I tried the wedding cake, triple chocolate torte and a banana bread cupcake. They were all delicious. I believe they only make their gluten-free versions on Friday.

I love icing; thus, I love the cupcakes here. I picked up the sample box and wasn't disappointed, particularly with the Wedding Cake one (simple white cake). The cake was nice and moist and perfect for an afternoon snack. Careful about the folks zipping around the corner from the Four Bucks and their frenzy to suck down their over-priced lattes, though; you could get rear-ended trying to find a parking space in front of the cupcake shot. Ugh.

Gigi's is a national chain and I've enjoyed Gigi's cupcakes in a few different cities. When we moved to Lexington last year, I was excited to have a "local" Gigi's. Unfortunately, the first couple of times we went, they had VERY few flavors available and the staff was very unfriendly. We didn't go again for quite a few months, then decided to try again a few months ago and they have consistently been great! I know they hired a new decorator and I'm not sure if there were other staffing changes, but over the past few months, staff is friendly, cupcakes are wonderful (yes, there is a LOT of frosting, but it's very good and you can always scrape some off if you'd rather have less), and they consistently have great specials such as themed cupcakes for holidays. Their prices are higher than their competition, but their cupcakes are also larger than those of their competitors. As long as this Gigi's franchise maintains their current standards, they'll be my go-to cupcake bakery in Lexington.

I don't think the cupcakes are all that great. There are many other local shops I like much better.

I absolutely LOVE Gigi's and stop every time I'm in Lexington. For me, the frosting is the best part! And I love the size of the cupcake, if I'm going to pay $3 for a cupcake at lest this one is worth it. My personal favorites are the Lemon, Birthday, and Princess. My daughter loves the Midnight. I'm sad that there are no Gigi's in IL!

While Gigi's has some enjoyable flavors, most are overly coated with too much gritty icing. These are called cupcakes, not cups of icing. Hopefully they'll change this shortly and focus more on the cake. BTW, the Canadian Maple ones (yep, they have bacon on them) are very good. Less icing, better and more cake=superior cupcakes.

I don't even like cupcakes, but living in Washington, DC I've become a connoisseur. I frequently eat cupcakes from the DC Cupcake show store, but they're not my fave. I do like one cupcake store, but I'm sad to say that's not GiGi's either. I'm happy for Lexington getting its cupcake fix and I give one extra star for that. I find the amount of frosting on these cupcakes to be obscene and gross. I did enjoy the Tiramisu cupcake, but I scraped off 1/2 the icing. Lemon cupcake had great flavor and I respect the bourbon cupcake. Gigi's-I don't know if you ever sell your mini cupcakes, but I think THEY would be just right. OR just cut your costs by using less frosting. It's not doing you any extra favors.

Yum! It's true there's quite a bit of frosting on these beauties, but wouldn't you rather have too much than too little? These are the best we've ever had. Tiramisu, chocolate peanut butter, mocha, yellow cake with chocolate frosting, all so good. Even a sweet surprise in the middle. Can't wait to go back to try more! While these cupcakes are sweet, the staff are not, so get in and out quickly.
