The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - My wife and I have eaten at Dickey's at least 8 times since they opened in Lexington and it's our favorite barbeque by far. We always order a pulled pork sandwich and get a couple of sides. The food is always delicious and portions are decent. The free soft serve ice cream is a nice touch as well. That's the good. The ordering process is awkward at best. Once you enter, you have to wait until the person making the food acknowledges you which may take a couple of minutes. And the wall separating the order-taker and the customer is very tall and seems a bit off-putting. That's the bad. And now the ugly - It's a shame that for such a good quality meal, you have to go to the Eastland shopping center to get it. Let's face it, this area is a pit. If they were in a better location, I have no doubt their business would be several times the volume of what it is now. It's a shame that the owner chose such a low-rent location rather than putting their restaurant in a more upscale locale. If the food weren't so darned good, we would not be venturing over there. And I'm sure there are many who will never try Dickey's because of where they are located. IMHO, City Barbeque was the best in Lex, but Dickey's is now the champ! If you're willing to give it a try, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Let's be clear, this is a chain restaurant. I just came back from visiting Texas and oklahoma, so I had a taste of some pretty good BBQ. This seems to lack a few components that could make this a great place. As for the good, the restaurant is clean--this surprised me since the location is in Eastland. I ordered the beef brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was tender and flavorful. They offer this by the pound and I would totally pay the $12.50 for a pound of it. And there is a free soft serve machine in the lobby. The not so good...it was awkward to order. If you had not been there before, it was difficult to figure out where to order. The biggest flaw is the sauces. The sweet was the only one that I could stand, but even then it was not that good. There is also the spicy which had a bit of spice, but lacked flavor and then the original which made me want to spit out the mouthful of pork I put it on. Seriously, the sauces suck. I will probably go back and buy the brisket by the pound and use my own BBQ sauce on it.

Dickey's does NOT even compare to any of the other BBQ restaurants in Lexington. I tried the 3 meat platter and it was just the most average food. I had brisket, pork and turkey. The brisket was ok, but the pork was all dried up. I was excited for a new BBQ place to try, but skeptical because of it being a chain. Sure enough, it did not impress me at all. It's kind of dingy inside and no one greets you when you walk in. It took a long time for them to prepare our plates, and there was only one guy in front of us in line. It just doesn't measure up to what you'd expect a good BBQ place to be. They have free soft serve ice cream, but after eating the food, I didn't even bother to try the ice cream, I think it would be another disappointment.

This was our third time dining at Dickey's and we ordered what has already become our go to choice, the brisket which is tender, flavorful, and delicious! Our side selections included potato salad and baked beans both of which were excellent. I personally prefer the spicy but all three sauces are a nice complement to their smoked meat offerings. We have also sampled and enjoyed the pulled pork. The only negative we encountered during this visit was the fact that the softserve machine was out of order and thus we couldn't have our complimentary cone. Bummer! Hopefully the machine working next time. If you are a barbecue fan I recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Never wrote comment on a restaurant before ...this is the Worse ever!! Tried four different meats - all cold. Sides lack flavor and were cold as well. Except for green beans...so hot couldnt taste. All you people that love this place, well, guess your 'taste' is all in your mouth. Free ice cream was not REAL ice cream. Not even passible. Place wasn't crowded, apparently some people know better. Wont go back.

Best ribs I have EVER had. No sauce required. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Don't be put off cause it is in a shopping center strip mall. If you do sauce, try the sweet! My wife loves the baked potato casserole

I really liked it! BBQ is one of my favorite things so giving five stars would have to mean they are like the drop dead best BBQ joint I have ever been to. I have yet to find my favorite yet, so until then we will go with four stars. I LOVED the sausage, the polish sausage though, OMG, my favorite so far! The brisket was good, but I think I have realized that brisket isn't my favorite thing in the world... I want to love it because I love beef over all meat, but my son LOVED IT! That is major because he doesn't like anything! He ate all my brisket, the ribs were good, I won't say spectacular, but good enough. I will try other stuff when I go back, but the sausage is what I look forward to most! Yum... Oh and the free ice cream is a great touch, especially when you have kids!

Food is good but a bit pricey! Hard to figure out the meat portions and honestly they done know either but it's good either way.

The food was decent, but is overpriced. No one was friendly. The first person I came in contact with did not make a good impression. She was rude and acted like I was holding her up asking her questions. The BBQ sauce was not anything special and there is only three to choose from. Sweet, spicy and original. They do have "free" ice cream. The restaurant was clean. Not very impressed.

This place is a welcome addition to the Lexington BBQ scene! This is a great Texas style option (Brisket, sausage, chicken +...about the smoke, not the sauce or presentation...also, it is not NC, Memphis or KC if that is what you are looking for). Great selection of meats and sides. Fresh made, reasonable prices and a good original, spicy, and sweet sauce, but the meat doesn't really need it. Atmosphere feels right for a BBQ joint. I am a bit of a BBQ snob so I was hesitant to try a new joint but this place passed with flying colors. It is worth a visit!

I'm having very mixed feelings about this place from the first time I walked in. I liked how the place looked and how clean it was. What I didn't like was how it kinda reminded me of like a chipotle mix with Chick-fil-A. Looked over the menu and went with the $12 3 meats plate. I got the ham, pulled pork and cheddar sausage. My two sides were bbq baked beans and Mac and cheese. For $12 they don't give you much at all. I felt for the money I was paying I could have got a lot more food anywhere else that would have been just as good if not better. The portions were not worth what you pay for it and I believe that's where I was not happy. They food was really really good and the atmosphere was nice but still didn't feel it. I think this place would be better if it was an actual restaurant that served liquor even wine, something that was a little bit better. I think this won't be a place I would go out of my way to get food from. I feel if I'm getting bbq it should be real bad and have big portions.

Fairly new to Lex. Nice atmosphere inside. The food is not bad, meat smoked good and variety of sides. BBQ beans not the best, Mac + cheese good as we're onion tanglers. Price is ok but maybe tad high. Service good. They should do good but only in my maybe top ten, not top five at all! Maybe ,not sure top ten.

This is a nice new BBQ restaurant. Lexington doesn't really need another BBQ place, but this is worth a visit. The food is very good. It's not over spiced, like most of the other BBQ places around. The iced tea is very good, and not too strong or too sweet. I like it - a lot. When I received my order of the big barbque sandwich and two sides, I thought it wasn't very much. Big suprise - it was plenty. Oh yeah, I could stuff another sandwich in me and be in pain. It tastes so good I would have tried if I had it. I'll leave satisfied, and not hurting, to return another day.

Chopped beef brisket BBQ sandwich is great with onions, pickles, and their sweet sauce. Macaroni and cheese was delicious. And, the fried okra was tasty. They have 3 TV's to watch in case you're going to watch a game. And, love the big plastic cups you can take home and re-use!!

Really good BBQ for a chain. Meat is tender and smoky. The sides are worth checking out too -- they have a few spicier versions of traditional dishes. Store hours are a bit unpredictable. I stopped by once, and the place had closed an hour early.

I also have mixed feelings... I was SO excited that a Dickeys was opening in Lexington because I lived in Texas for 12 years & ate Dickeys nearly weekly there. There are NO bbq restaurants in Lexington that come close to good Texas BBQ. All the sides are superb. My issue is with the star of the show, the brisket. Obviously the kitchen staff needs schooling in how to slice brisket. Slices are not uniformly sliced--sometimes crooked large chunks & wedges which decreases the tenderness when it's not cut against the grain. Twice I have ordered "SLICED" brisket to avoid getting the gnarly burnt ends and TWICE I have received mostly burnt ends mostly chopped, with some stringy long pieces that were chewy because it wasn't properly cut like a brisket should be. The smoke flavor was excellent--seriously if the kitchen staff put the burnt ends in the beans where they belong & have a tutorial from Dickeys headquarters about how to actually slice a brisket (& listen to the customer when they specify sliced vs chopped), it would be 100% better! And still the best place in town for TX style bbq!!

First call: didn't answer. Second call, set the phone down, then hung up on us. Third time they took the order. Called in advance for a specific time and it wasn't ready, plus they didn't include the additional side we ordered. Asked for chopped brisket, got sliced. Poor experience. On an order upwards of $100 you'd think you would receive much better service than this.
