Customer Service--A thing of the past.....A friend took me to DaVinci's one night for a date. The food was great and we enjoyed the meal. Of course we had all night to wait, so no problem. I have been there 3+ times to get a "TO-GO" order. Each time thinking I am giving them one last time to get it together. Well, believe me, tonight convinced me NEVER TO GO BACK. I had came in to place a to go order. After about 5 minutes of being there, was finally sent to the bar to place an order. To be clear, I am no one's "sweetie", "sugar" or "honey". I am from the area and have heard this before. But I do not care for someone young enough to be my niece calling me "sweetie". If it happened once, it happened 15 times. I am a customer, an adult and prefer to be treated as such. In all honesty they seemed to be trying to "smooth things over" while ignoring me. After someone finally came and took my order, I waited another 45 minutes. Still no food. When I asked the waitress (which no one said anything to me during the 45 minutes) where my food was, she told someone else "She's wanting to know where her food is." Well....Yes....It had been almost 50 minutes from the time of placing the order. When someone finally realized I was upset, they went to check. Only to come and tell me it had not been started yet. I was furious. Then...came back and stated that it was on the stove. Why did no one have the common courtesy to at least come by and tell me when it was going to be more than 25-30 minutes? I'll tell you, they were too busy talking to "sweetie, sugar and honey". After they said it would be a bit longer, of course they wanted their money for it. So I did pay, as I did not want to spend that much time for something and go back empty handed. Then, another 15 minutes later,...."sorry it took so long. have a nice night". By this time, I felt like I could have grown the crop, harvested it and cooked it myself before they would have mine ready. It would be nice if they were taking "to go" orders, if they would treat those customers with a little more respect. If the food will not be ready for an hour---tell somebody---like the one ordering it! I will admit the food is good. But by the time I received mine, I was too furious to enjoy it. I would rather someone tell me that it will be however long it will really be, than to leave me waiting and waiting and waiting thinking it will be the next order out. I would rather save my time, and temper, and go elsewhere for the meal and return another day than to be made to feel like "she can wait til we get ready to give her the order" then hand it to me and "here's your food. get out". Nothing is worth that frustration. Not to mention it is an ongoing thing when I go there. So.....I WILL NOT BE BACK. YOU HAVE LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER!

Great food and even better wine. The service was very helpful and made the place welcoming and helpful as to what you pair wine with on the menu.

Outstanding food. My husband and I shared the manicotti, a Greek salad, and ordered a couple meatballs with marinara on the side. I especially enjoyed the meatballs and marinara, which tasted fresh and homemade. The manicotti was exactly what you would expect at an authentic Italian restaurant and the Greek salad had no shortage of veggies and feta cheese. I deducted one star for location, which seems out of the way. I would highly recommend if you're in the Hopkinsville area.

We had heard good things about this place and wanted to give it a try. We should have read the reviews about time. We actually made a reservation, but it didn't matter. Our res was for 7:30. When they started seating people behind us after 7:30, we asked why. We were told they were getting us a table for two. (There was only one table for two in this place and those folks didn't leave till 8:15!) So we finally got seated and ordered drinks. Our water came out, but I couldn't hail the waitress for straws. Went to the bar, still couldn't quite get their attention to give us straws. My wifes wine showed up a little later, the drink I ordered had not shown up for awhile. Waitress came back and said she forgot what I ordered. Meals took about 40 minutes to show up. When they arrived, I had to flag down the staff for spoons. Who eats pasta without a spoon?! The only reason I could give two stars is because the food was decent, not great, but not too bad. They seem disorganized and don't have a customer service orientation. I felt like the hostess and our waitress were having bad days. Maybe we caught this place at the wrong time. Probably won't go back.

Came here on Saturday night. We watched and waited as half of the tables we empty but no one was busing them and the hostess was the most clueless woman I have seen in the industry. We watched as not only the walk ins but the people with reservations leave because of poor service. I highly recommend to the management to fire the staff or at least higher someone to train and oversee this madness. I have to give this place zero stars based on terrible service.

The food is VERY good, the wait staff are personable, and wonderful. Crüe portions are large enough to share or come with a huge appetite.

By far THE best homemade Italian food I have ever had. I would strongly recommend. The service was fast and the wine selection was great. My wife had some sort of sweet wine that was excellent in my book. We will go back!

Great portions, especially the chicken parmesan. That is one huge chicken breast! I have had the lasagna, cannelloni, and chicken Alfredo and cheese ravioli. With the chicken Alfredo I ask for a little red sauce with it. Sooooo good. I live in Clarksville, would rather drive there to eat Italian than anywhere local.

Things I like: the bread was tasty Thing I did not like: - the wait to get a table - understaffed - the wait to get the delicious bread - the parmesan cheese was lumpy and stuck to the top of the container - the wait for food took over an hour and a half - not a lot of authentic options I will not be back. The servers were very unfriendly and did not seem to understand what was going on half the time we asked them questions about the food or the wait. We hardly had a chance to try our food before they closed. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Boom, roasted.

When this placed first opened it was really good... but it seems like these days we have bad experiences... waited and waited for a table this last time and finally just got up and left, don't go unless you have a reservation apparently!! Food wise it seems to get more bland everytime.

I will make this to the point. I am not from your area. I live in a City with some of the best Italian restaurants in the country..... far far away from Hopkinsville. Folks this is not even close to authentic Italian food in its most basic sense. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The waitress returned to inform me "they were sold out". Sold out of what? The spaghetti? The meatballs? The sauce? What? "We are sold out of spaghetti and meatballs" was the response. Okay, well how about chicken parm? "Yes we have that." Great. Seriously? Guess what comes out on my plate next to the chicken parm? Spaghetti!! Minus the meatballs. ;) Folks you want good pasta sauce? It is easy. Take a can of crushed tomatoes, cut with some water, add olive oil, garlic to taste, salt, pepper, basil, crushed red pepper, a splash of red wine, simmer 20 minutes, and voila! You have pasta sauce in its basic form. The sauce at Da Vinci is not Italian red sauce. Not sure how they made it frankly. It tasted like something I haven't has since I was a kid. That I honestly wish I could forget the taste that is seared into my memory: Chef Boyardee Spaghetti O's. Seriously, they could have heated up a can of crushed tomatoes plain and it would have tasted better. Ragu looks like a Michelin 5 Star Chef prepared it by comparison. And the chicken parm! Ever have "Banquet" frozen meals? Bingo! That is what the chicken parm tasted like to a tee. The sauce was an off color brownish red, the cutlet was that thick, hard, brown crust, with the one end of the cutlet cold inside. So how did that happen? Easy. Pull a pre-made cutlet from the freezer and drop it in the deep fryer. If you want real Italian food in your area since the food choices are so limited, stay home and read a few recipes and make your own. I just gave you a sauce recipe that takes 30 mins. Bon Appetite!

The best I have seen and tasted in Hopkinsville and surrounding areas. The restaurant feel and food taste very authentic. Have traveled all around Europe and coming here made me feel like I was back in Italy. The food was great, the service was great, but make sure to call and place your reservation ahead of time. Buon appetito!

[] Food,(variety, portion size, quality)= outstanding [] Customer Service = Outstanding Left over 20% tip that good [] Reservations highly recommended This definitely qualifies as a hole in the wall, mom and pop, family owned small eatery. But in my lifetime these have always proven to be the best spots. A friend of ours recommended Da Vinci's so my wife and I went here on a date night tonight to celebrate her birthday. I called ahead of time was advised to make reservations. As with any small restaurant, seating is limited and the wait can be long. Over the phone I had asked for their more reserved table, but when we got there they sat us right away, but not in the table I was told over the phone. But it was a quick fix, we just waited for the family that was there to leave (only took 10 minutes). Probably would've been smarter to just have us wait 10 minutes. But anyways, that was the only hiccup the whole night. Our waitress was extremely professional and friendly. We ordered a bottle a wine and the bruschetta. The bruschetta was fresh and on point. Their garlic bread is served with olive oil for dipping. We never felt rushed and everything was perfectly on time for us. I ordered the chicken parm and she ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. I got my plate and my jaw dropped as to how big the chicken was. Of course I've got to get my man vs food on and I had to go "HAM on dat" --- translation: I inhaled it. Man it was by far one of the best chicken parm's I've had in a LONG time (including places up north and back home in the northeast). Words can't describe. If you're a chic parm kind of guy then you need to get to Da Vinci's and loosen your belt buckle. Maria said the meatballs tasted just like her Grandma's cookin'. I had to try some of hers (you know, in order to give it a fair review ;) and man oh man it was amazing. Like raining with a chance of meatballs big and just tastes so good! Someone had left a review that this wasn't real italian. That person is a weirdo (sorry). We've been married for 11 years, her family is Italian from Chicago... and we've eaten just about at every Italian restaurant in IL and this place is great folks! Lastly, there were couples on date night, there were friends getting together, girls night out, and families with kids all packed into this restaurant and everyone blended just fine and again... the service was just as great as the atmosphere and food. We will definitely be back to try the veal parm (which was sold out) and the pizza everyone's raving about from here.

Came here on a business trip with a colleague and the food was delicious! Like many have commented their food isn't just "good for Hopkinsville" but would be a great italian find in any city as far as im concerned. We did get a kick out of the "since 2009" sign out front considering most restaurants boast with a bit more years under their belt but regardless great food & spectacular service so we def will be back. PS the calzones are huuuuge and my chicken Cesar salad panini chicken was enormous...foodie heaven

I was driving through Hopkinsville and saw this place had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. I was really impressed with the food. I had a salad, ribeye and chocolate cannoli. Everything was excellent and I would definitely recommend it. My only complaint is when I arrived, the hostess seemed annoyed that I was a table of 1 and that I didn't want to sit at the bar. She told me it would be a bit and had me wait while I repeatedly saw a server stop by and tell her there was a table open for me. I waited while the hostess then sat a few others who walked in after me. Wasn't the greatest first impression and I almost got up and left but I'm glad i stayed since the food definitely made up for it.

Here for work with a colleague and saw all of the great reviews. However: Mashed potatoes at an Italian restaurant? Weird. I got the special, which was a pork loin smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes. The food was mediocre, and the pork may have been great had it not been for the copious gravy and mashed potatoes. No veggies were available (out of broccoli and carrots - the only veggie besides potatoes or spinach). Drinks are very expensive, so brace yourself when a bourbon on the rocks is $9. Overall two stars.

Tonight was my first time at DaVinci's and the only problems was a crowded dining room and parking lot. Our food was excellent. Our salads were better than expected, and our entrees were great. I had more than I could eat, and everyone in my party did, also. Prices were very reasonable, too.

This is hands down one of my top Hoptown restaurants. I've never been disappointed with anything I ordered. The entrees are gigantic. I always split with someone. Most of the time, I get the chicken parm and Cesar salad (which is also HUGE) and split it with my fiance. They have great homemade bread, as well. The only downside is on weekend nights, be prepared to either make a reservation ahead of time or wait for a while. It doesn't have a ton of seating. But well worth the wait, if you ask me. For what you pay, I feel like you get a large amount of high quality food, with a friendly staff.

Warm and inviting staff, friendly service. I sat outside on the new patio and watched the sun set while drinking wine. Lovely evening while listening to music and eating salmon on a bed of spinach. I will be back.

Excellent service, with food that is of a quality not matched by chain restaurants. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. I recommend it to any one looking for excellent Italian cuisine.

First time here...and it was great! Service was excellent & the food was great! Can't believe I never heard of this place until a few weeks ago...I'm from NY & there are tons of Italian places everywhere and when I moved down here, I didn't find any...will definitely be back!

Quaint little restaurant. Atmosphere was great, as was service. Food was good, but not as amazing as all the other reviewers say. I think I had my expectations a little too high because of previous reviews. But I would go there again.

This isn't just a great place for a small town, it is a great restaurant for any place. Da Vinci has great pasta dishes. It is a surprise to get such great Italian meal with fresh ingredients in this area. Someone told me that the chef is actually Italian, which may explain the authentic taste. But even if not, it is amazing. The wait staff is very wise on all the dishes and are very helpful. Try to make reservations on the weekends as seating can get a little crowded, especially if you are coming from out of town, trust me it is worth the drive. If you like seafood and pasta you cannot go wrong with the lobster ravioli, really the best of both worlds! If I have any words of warning, they are not about the food or service, but your pocket book. While there are affordable meals to be had, you can go crazy in here with all the delicious choices.

Food is usually amazing. I went with the lobster ravioli the last time and it just wasn't as good as the other times I've been. Otherwise, it's great and the food is generally wonderful. I love that they give you a mini-carafe for your wine. Be sure to get there early or make a reservation on weekends.

After I moved to NYC, I got to explore tons of amazing restaurants. None of them even come close to this place, though. PLEASE don't be in a hurry when you come here. Sit down. Have some wine. Let Chef work his magic and you will be amazed. Folks, it really does not get any better than this. This place would put the rest of the restaurants out of business if it was in NYC!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
