Proportions were perfect on the deluxe burger. One of the best burgers I have had the pleasure of eating.

Amazing onion burgers! If you ever see someone cooking your burger with a brick trowel you know it's going to be awesome.

Stopped here today with the family for lunch after seeing the limited options available in the area. All 5 of us got burgers. 2 fries and 3 onion rings. My husband and daughter got the double cheeseburgers and the rest of us got single hamburgers. Now, first I must say that overall the food did taste good. However, if you're a true "burger person", you will not be happy unless you order a double. The amount of meat on a single is about that of a single hamburger from a McDonald's kids meal. Also, if you are not a pepper person, you better let them know when you place your order because they douse the burgers in them. The onion rings were good, but nothing special and the fries were deep fried crinkle cut Orieda. The joint is quaint. There are 8 stools at the counter to eat at, so don't be thinking you can bring a large group here. The staff was cordial but not overly friendly. The food was cheap and and fresh. If you can turn a blind eye the numerous health code violations it's not a bad option to consider. I saw others complain about the length of time it took to get food, but we did not have that issue...it was fast, hot, cheap, and best of all, NOT McDonalds!

Love this place and always have! They have great little greasy burgers that really hit the spot! Only caveat would be the smell -- one minute in the place and you will smell of it all day, but it's oddly worth it! Hope this place stays around for years to come.

Laha's (pronounced lay-hays) is a destination burger joint, run by Fourth and fifth generation Lahas. Brother Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce and Walter drove into Hodgenville Kentucky, by chance, on the way to the Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site. After taking picture of the statues in Lincoln Circle, followed the the smell of burgers & onions (free advertising) to Laha's Red Castle Hamburgers. Walter took one peek in the window and said to Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce, "we need to go in here". Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce ordered a plain burger & fries, Walter a cheeseburger & fries. After one bite, Walter proclaimed he would never go back to White Castle. Later, at the Lincoln Birthplace Site, Bruuuuuuuuuuuce overheard one National Park worker say to another, "someone has been to Laha's", and other worker reply, "its those two over there". pointing to Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce and Walter.

These are inexpensive and delicious burgers. Very peppery. They've been doing burger joint for right for a long time.

Nope, not fancy; but that doesn't mean it's not good! Yummy burgers and onion rings made in front of you - the opposite of gourmet. Fer realzies. Fairly redneck, TBH. I'll say that again: THIS PLACE IS FAIRLY REDNECK. Barstools available, but is tiny, old school lunch counter; nothing better than grab 'n' go, enjoyed outside on a sunny day! Cash only, but you won't need much green.

This is probably one of the most fascinating and incredible businesses I have ever seen in my entire life. Fascinating due to it's simplicity, the great food and the amount of years this place has been in business. There is no telling how much money this place has raked in over the course of the last 70+ years. There's a reason why this place has lasted as long as it has. Lahas is actually older than McDonalds and a mere 14 years (approx) younger than White Castle. Unlike other fast food joints like McDonalds that have caved like spineless jellyfish to the health food Nazi's, turning their once great eateries into servers of artificial, prefabricated garbage, Lahas has stayed the course and weathered the PC storm generation after generation, always keeping it small and simple and serving the best hamburgers you will ever eat anywhere. Anyone who would even think of giving this place a bad review are the same kind of people who would wait in line for an hour in a McDonalds drive thru during a softball-sized hailstorm so one would have to question their level of intelligence anyway. The place is small, rustic and the staff is friendly when they have the time. What nobody seems to get is this place is slammed day after day after day from the time they open until the time they close so nobody that works here really has the time to chat it up which is totally understandable. If you are looking for conversation, there is a McDonalds up the road. If you don't want to wait, you can actually call your order in and by the time you get there they have it bagged up and ready to go. Their number can be found just about anywhere. This place is not dirty it's just old which is part of it's charm. It is very small inside and during the lunch rush there may not be any room in there to even stand let alone sit down which is why calling your order in will always be the best way to go. I love my Lahas and I hope this place is around for another 70+ years so the generations after me can enjoy these burgers as much as I have. Cheers!

The good news is I ate a few burgers here and did not get sick, when it looked like there was potential for me to get sick. The bad news is the burgers were average. If you're in the area, it may be worth a stop, if you sorta want to play burger roulette. The people aren't the friendliest either but maybe because it was obvious I was not from the area.
