This B & B is under new ownership. I found it on Facebook. The following is their website. canaanlandfarm.net I contacted them and was able to book the Colonial cottage. It has already been updated by the new owners. The 200 year cabin that was moved to this site is also updated and ready for you. The new owners are very friendly and down to earth. This establishment is wonderful. My wife and I will be going back. It is very quite, serene, and relaxing. The horses wandering around their large enclosed fields is an awesome site. The ability to walk almost anywhere among the 70 acres was a big plus for me. The provided breakfast was plentiful and delicious both mornings we were there. It is definitely worth our5 1/2 hour drive to go to Canaan Land Farm B & B to unwind and de-stress from the world.

Kentucky's countryside is beautiful. Just like the poets say, Kentucky is nothing but endless blue grass, winding white fences and 10 foot bales of hay dotting the landscape. However, when Maker's Mark has worked its magic on you and a satisfying lunch becomes a necessity, look no further than Kountry Kupboard. Locals recommended it, and touristy foodies agree: it is a find. If you ever doubt the Amish, come check this place out. Delicious bulk foods pack the shelves in convenient well labeled baggies. Everything from sesame sticks to celery salt, the Kupboard is chock full of goodies. Their cranberry pumpkin seed mix delighted my belly and sated all snack hankerings throughout the long weekend. And the newly installed soft serve cooled our baked city brains and left us feelin' just fine. And then the sandwiches... Two words: weighty and cheap. All sandwiches weighed about a pound... seriously. And they were all under $4!!! I was with a group of guys known for their eating skills and only ONE could finish his sandwich. It was shocking. My veggie sandwich was just as weighty as the roast beef and was only $3... Yes, $3. Don't you dare go to Subway when you can grab a sandwich here.

The food is fresh and homemade. Stopped by this place during a business trip and was happy I did! The food taste great and the prices are even better lol. I was lucky to show up during a 2 6"inch subs for $5! And their bucket of seasoned fries is only 1.49! Just love this place. Wish I could find one closer to home though.

We visited this Subway on Saturday morning around 9 AM on July 21, 2012. Even though it was early, the two workers greeted us with a smile and were quite friendly, helpful and professional. Amber and Suge are to be commended! Not only did they prepare our orders correctly, I even got a little cup of pickles on the side! We will definitely visit this Subway again when we visit the area--hopefully when Amber and Suge are working!

Shakertown Trustees’office Inn

Reviews:
My family and I actually went here on Thanksgiving Day, as my family had to have Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday due to other's schedules. I was completely impressed after hearing all the stories about how the place had "gone downhill". The service and the food were excellent. I'd actually love to go back on a non-special menu night.
Everything about the Shaker Village was a great experience. We began our tour by eating at the Trustee's restaurant. An earlier reviewer noted that the "food was overpriced." That may be if you are expecting a quick bite to eat, but if you go knowing you are in store for a great dining experience, I'm sure you will not be disappointed by either the price or the quality of the food. Our lunch was simply phenomenal and the best dining experience of our vacation in KY! The village itself is a restored "Shaker" community. Being a Presbyterian minister, I very much enjoyed learning about the faith and beliefs of this particular uniquely American religious community and how those beliefs informed their life together. Each portion of our tour was informative and well done.
My wife and I attended a wedding at the Shaker Village... wow. I used to think of three stars as an almost negative review until I saw the description of 'a-ok' and thought to myself... that's fitting for some of the place i've been to... such as the Shaker Village. I'm writing and basing my judgements about the grounds, lodgings and special events. The grounds are in the midst of the beautiful Kentucky countryside. Rolling green hills and historic, well maintained stone fences and gating make for a pleasant environment. The buildings are well maintained and restored to what they should have/probably looked like during the time of the Shakers. The lodgings are quaint and simple. Although they look almost too quaint, they are comfortable, clean and acceptable by this spooled city guy. Although wi-fi is offered, it was spotty at best throughout the buildings no matter where you go. If you're on T-Mobile or some other carriers (i.e. Sprint), you'll depend on the sporadic wi-fi and feel a burst of excitement when you do finally catch some of it. Part of me thinks that it's a ploy by the Shaker Village staff for you to really experience the true, historic value of the grounds. The special events and catering staff a did a good job meeting the needs of our American and Indian cultural wedding. Our friends who got married appeared pleased with the level of service and we were really impressed by the quality of food and materials and offerings that Shaker Village staff provided. So why the three stars? The facilities, lodgings and surrounding areas were great, nothing super special. I can't say anything bad and although I pointed out the positives in my review, nothing truly stuck out as above and beyond. If you love visiting places of historic value, this is likely the place for you.

Great little spot in my hometown! It's and old drug store and hasp ads of character. Staff was friendly and nice. They have a lunch menu and an after 5 menu. I tried try bigger salad with chicken. It was plentiful and good. My daughter wanted a chocolate shake which I ended up finishing. It was rich and delicious. You have so many ice cream options, floats, fudge to choose from. They also have a bar area and often have musicians playing as well.
This is an absolutely fabulous restaurant. The atmosphere is incredible. It is an authentic pharmacy and soda fountain right out of the 40's. The food is divine. The sandwiches are all served on home made bread with generous fillings and the home made soup is outstanding. If you are within 50 miles of this restaurant, you must make the effort to go and try it.
Rather charming downtown restaurant with live entertainment on the weekend (which can be a little loud for conversation). Creatively prepared sandwiches and salads, nice selection of ice cream and fudge, fast, friendly service.

Old Owl Tavern

Reviews:
While staying in Danville, I realized that there weren't many restaurants in this area of Kentucky. The choices that were presented tended to be less then satisfactory. Old Owl Tavern did not disappoint! I had the BBQ pork, which was delicious and tender. I also was able to indulge in the Happy Hour appetizers, also wonderful! A cute place with very good food.
This was a fun little stop while out driving around. We actually had driven out to Lincoln's homestead park and came through Harrodsburg on our way back to Lex. We stopped here for linner (late lunch/early dinner kind of thing). turns out we came at the perfect time (3:45) because the restaurant was empty when we arrived but by the time I went inside to visit the ladies room about an hour or so after that, the place was packed inside. We were starving so we ended up ordering way more food than we should have. We ordered 2 apps and then 2 entrees. I wish we had stuck with the 2 apps and then maybe had dessert. The appetizers were good. We had the garbage fries and my only complaint was it needed way more ranch. A mess of fries bigger than my head and a little tiny cup of ranch that held no more than a tablespoon or 2? :( The beer cheese was really good and those pretzel chip things they serve with it were awesome! I like things when they're crispy but not when they're crunchy. Bacon is one of those things. I prefer a light crisp, not a hard crunch. Anyway, these had a crispness to them but were still soft and pliable in the middle. This was my favorite. I ordered the hot brown and it was "okay". I was very disappointed in the corn pudding. It's a very wet, loose pudding. Not my cup of tea. My husband had the ribs and he said they were okay. We'll come back but we might stick with the apps, especially if it's happy hour.
We arrived at 4:15 on a Saturday from out of town due to being there for a football bowl game. I don't guess they expected such a crowd from us "out of towners". Only had two servers to start with. We had a total of 15 just in our group. There were other groups from our hometown there too. So needless to say service was very slow to start. Once they got going when they had more staff arrive, they were able to get the crowd moving. The food our group had was good. I like not having to season my food more. And it all arrived to us hot. I didn't hear any negative comments about the food. Several of us had country fried steak that was as good as homemade. My brother in law had a burger and said it was one of the best he's had. Definitely try this place just don't be in a great hurry.
