Food was good but the waiter beltran needs to learn hospitality. The salsa was mild but ok. No shredded beef enchiladas. I was told by local i am too hard. I would come back. The manager from Honduras very nice.

I've been to this place before and had a really good burrito and margarita. Today, the margaritas were still good, although they don't have the monster size anymore, but the Carnitas were on the so-so side. A few of them were tender, but for the most part they were shriveled up dry and not very appealing. Decor and location are still great, service was wonderful, but the Carnitas were sort of killed in the process. Three stars only because the rice and beans were flavorful and tasted fresh, other than that, oh, the chips were warm and pretty awesome. Maybe fresh? I would come back again just for the margaritas, and maybe I will try something different next time, maybe the chef was having a bad day. It happens, you know. It happens to the best of us.

First off I didn't know whether to give this joint a 1 or 5 rating so I gave it a 3. I went because it was super close to my hotel and I was in the mood for some mexican. Not only did I get mexican, but I got mexican fused with southern Kentucky "charm". It took a solid five minutes for someone to seat people. I waited because there was a group in front of me, but now I know there is a bar I could have bellied up to without waiting. Once I got settled in at the bar is when the real fun began. I was fortunate enough to sit next to Charlie and mitsy who frequent this place about once a week. They had ordered a margarita and were blown away by what Ricardo had fixed for them. I immediately noticed why....all the bottles behind the bar were free pour. They usually get two pitchers, but tonight they had trouble finishing one. Then began a series of "MacGyver" like ingenuity. Charlie and mitsy needed an ashtray so Ricardo not being able to find one gave them an empty cocktail napkin and straw holder that sits at the bar to use. Then over the course of my stay I noticed Ricardo didnt have a bottle opener. No problemo....he used everthing else behind the bar to open bottles.....a lemon squeezer, drink shaker, counter top, and multiple knives. The Smirnoff bottle tipped into a patron chilling dispenser was a nice touch lol. The best move I witnessed was when two mich ultras were being poured and the keg cashed out....no worries....just top off both glasses with miller lite lol. Hey both beers suck in my opinion anyway. All in all I enjoyed myself...it truly felt like I was in a different country. The service was a bit slow, but they may have been understaffed due to the world cup being on. Oh and the steak fajitas were good.

Lived in the Franklin area my whole life until I moved away a few years ago. I've eaten at this place before and food is as I remember it, really good. Got 2 stars because the whole restaurant smelled of Cigarette smoke!! The bar is attached and smoking is allowed in the bar but it blows right into the dining area. GROSS!!!!! I haven't had to smell smoke in a restaurant in years and had there been another decent option in Franklin I would have left.

Loved this place in the past, but eating the taco salad and received beans tonight that tasted like i was licking a salt lick....too much. We keep coming back hoping it will be back to its old self. This was written months ago. Last visit they had to remake my steak taco salad because it had 3pieces of meat & a load of green peppers & onions. In a small town it's a staple. Keep getting better!!!

Had the chicken fajitas and while they were hot and looked(see photo) they lacked flavor or even some spice. The bean dip was good and the service was great.

I grew up in Texas, but my family is from Franklin, and I have eaten at Sol Azteca periodically for years. The food is not the best Mexican I've ever had, but it is good and consistent.

The food was good, the service could be better but the meal was so good. I loved it. I decided to try something new and I loved it. I had what I think was called the Ismeal or something. Either way it was delicious! Would definitely go there again.

OMG , this is the place for Mexican food. The service is great at both locations but the food is actually better at the downtown location. The margaritas are the best I've ever had , enjoy ! Only complaint is you can smell the smoke from the bar as in all Kentucky restaurants!

Solazteca is always busy!!!!! Their Margarita's are great!!! Their food is very consistent and fresh. The staff is great and full of life. Go and enjoy yourself. Have a drink or two and eat a good meal. I love visiting this place. Order the "Is Special" when you visit. Everything else in this town sucks!!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
