I grew up in Evarts, about a quarter mile down the street from the original location. It's as good as I remembered from childhood. Since growing up and traveling the Midwest, eating at fine restaurants in Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, and beyond, I can say there is nothing better than a home-cooked country meal for three including dessert for less than $20. This place offers big flavor comparable to any of Cincinnati's best burger dives and atmosphere that beats the hell out of Chicago's obsession with faux-bluegrass and craft beer. This is a true dive with some of the best burgers and sandwiches you'll ever eat. The desserts were to die for and the other entrees including the specials were equally appetizing. If you're in town for the hills or for family, visit (or revisit) this place. The waitress might recognize you from when you were 7 and craved the Miniburgers that kept this place afloat in the 90s. That's what happened to me! I love this place. 5 stars. A true gem, an outlier in an Appalachian landscape of chains and subpar frozen meals served at mom and pop truck stops.
