Might be the best place on earth! Great food and great people! The ingredients are top notch and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out with friends. Tell them Steve sent you!
A fun, interactive, and delicious evening learning to roll sushi with friends. Here's the deal... Make your reservations on their website, call them up for payment, and they will tell you everything you need to know. BYOB, they provide cups, and they seat you upon arrival. The couple spend the first 45 mins teaching you how to prep and roll sushi on your own at home (they even sell mini kits to recreate your experience again later). They prep the ingredients and roll 3 rolls for you. Then, they bring out all the ingredients on a lazy suzan and you can build 3 sushi rolls of your own with seemingly endless seafood/veggie combinations. Once you've finished with your sushi creations, you can sit back down at the table and feast on your hard work! It's okay if you can't finish it all, they will box it up for you to take home with you. And on top of that, when I got home I saw that all the pictures that they had taken throughout the night had been emailed to me. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back!!
Cool way to spend a Saturday evening with a group of friends or as a couple! Very informative, fun & useful mini-course on sushi rolling. After a 30-min or so introduction, you go to a table and roll! Each person makes 3 small rolls. You get to eat the rolls you prepare, which may be good or bad, depending on your skills ;) Just kidding, the preparation is actually easier than I thought, especially with all the ingredients cut and prepared for you! You bring all the drinks you want, you roll, relax, laugh and eat. Food is plentiful, atmosphere relaxed, really enjoyable experience!

So many flavors to choose from. Great place for ice cream on 6th st. For the price you get a lot of soft served ice cream in a cup, cake cone or waffle cone. I had the cake cone for 2.49 which was more ice cream than I was expecting. Make sure you get lots of napkin as it melts fast.
This place is great! I had the cheeseburger with fries and finished it off with a black cherry/ pistachio ice cream. Delicious! The service was excellent! Highly recommend!
This is the best little place in Covington for casual dining. We walked over to Main Strauss from downtown just for their blueberry cheesecake ice cream because it sounded so good, and it was worth the walk. Seriously, go try that stuff! The staff were so inviting and chatted with us for a few minutes while we ordered and waited. It gave me a real Andy Griffith vibe which was really nice. The setup itself is different; you walk up to an outside counter, order, and sit down outside. The clerk brings you the food or ice cream you ordered when it's ready. You can see into the place and it's quaint and small but they seemingly have enough kitchen to fulfill the orders. It looked like only three guys were running the place when we went. There are benches and tables in this lovely little sitting area surrounded by trees and rod iron fencing. Honestly, this place is too adorable. I loved being there. It's a pleasant little small town diner with great ice cream, a lovely seating area, super nice people running it, and a great location in Covington. Bring the kids, bring your significant other, bring the parents and grand parents. Everyone should try this place.

Mom and Pop Mexican place in strip mall. Everything is fresh and homemade. Very tasty and friendly service. Enjoyed the chicken quesadilla and fajitas supreme.
I love their veggie taco! You can't beat 3 tacos for $6. Service is always great. They have a great lunch special too. I suggest the Mexican soda or coconut water!
I liked it as I was craving Mexican tacos. The wife was not such a big lover. She characterized it as a "dirty little room". Yeah atmosphere is lacking and yes cleanliness could've been better but this is a restaurant that you could stick directly somewhere in Mexico. Regardless the tacos were good and I had some horchata although I should've gotten some sort of Mexican refresco (probably toronja). The salsas roja and verde were both good. The beans were great the rice was average.

I can't wait to go back! The meal was creative, delicious, fun and the wine pairings were great! Anyone who appreciates great food should check it out! My husband is a good cook, travels a bit for work and eats great meals in many cities. During the meal he said, "Wow!...who ARE these guys? This is amazing!" It's not cheap but its worth it!
We were so excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews and that they source a lot of things locally. We ordered the 4 course meals. The dishes were delicious, however the portions are tiny. Our gazpacho course was maybe 4 tablespoons of soup. The presentation was beautiful and the server was informative. However, We left hungry and went to the grocery store to buy more to snack on. Not fun after spending $125 for our meal. We will not return when there are other restaurants with unique dishes that actually fill you up.
Wow. I had high expectations for Nuvo, and it absolutely delivered! It's certainly the most memorable meal I have ever had. Both the food and the whole experience were fantastic. First of all, Nuvo is definitely a special occasion type of place ($$$$). And, it's not for everyone. The food is unique and experimental, and the prix fixe menu means you have to be adventurous and willing to try things you don't normally pick. That makes it a PERFECT place for people who love food and trying new things. If you and your significant other are both super into good food, you'll love this place. If one of you doesn't quite appreciate unique, artfully crafted cuisine, you should probably skip it. My fiancée and I did the 8 course tasting menu, with drink parings. Definitely don't do less food, and if you like good wine then definitely do drink parings as well. I'll agree with other people: Don't even bother with the smaller course meals (3 or 4). Go all out, or don't go at all. (Side note: they're going to be opening an a la carte menu downstairs, so then there will be a cheaper option). I loved almost everything I had. It was all super unique. I don't remember everything, but some highlights were: Some sort of potato cucumber salad. Scallop! (It was a hot/cold dish. Hot scallop which was fantastic, and a cold scallop dish that I wasn't crazy about). Chicken with an eggplant puree. And a 2.5 minute egg that we got to crack on top of the dish ourselves! "Banana split" desert. Mmmmmm. It's made with a pork fat gelato. What?!? Another desert that had curry gelato. Spicy gelato is super interesting. Not my favorite, but it was so unique and unexpected that I loved it. Dessert course 3 (yes. three dessert courses.) had truffles, mini tarts, something I forget, and mushroom oreos. Again, all super unique. The total dinner was just shy of 3 hours. They don't flip tables, so we were told we could stay as long as we wanted after eating. Very nice atmosphere, friendly service (the Sous Chef was our server). What could make killer food even better? Drink pairings. Banana sake with the scallop dish? Paired great. I'm not normally a Rosé fan, but we had a rosé that worked so well with the dish. A couple reds, a couple whites, a cocktail at the beginning, and a Maderia with dessert. I would have never been able to pick the drinks for this meal, so just let them do it for you! I was very satisfied after all of that. But then before we left, they brought us two pieces of coffee cake packaged up for us to have for breakfast the next day! Of course it was delicious, and just a really nice little extra to end the meal. Oh, and with the coffee cake was a thank you note signed by all of the staff (and it said bring it back for a free bottle of wine next time!). They treat you right. If you love to experience food, not just eat food, this is the place to go. The menu changes frequently, so you'll probably get something different that I did, but I'm sure it'll be the experience of a lifetime. I know I'll certainly be back.

Wonderful establishment. 8pm dinner reservation, 78 degrees maybe, sat outside and had Rose Prosecco followed by the cheese plate. Wonderful assortment, the Fig sauce was rad. We had the pork chops, the scallops, and hanger steak. I think these guys excel at sauces. I was tasting hints of curry in many of the dishes, I think but im not sure... but i think i was tasting homemade garam masala. What I like about this place is the flavors just keep going and going. The staff was wonderful, fun, and really made the night perfect. Thank you so much and I'll be back.
Now have had two straight excellent meals here, over two different seasons. Whether it's the beet salad, the greens salad, the scallops small plate, the bison entree, the bone-in pork loin entree, the brownie dessert, or any number of other choices, we have yet to have a dud. Flavors are well developed, there's a variety of textures on every plate, and visual presentation is very well done. Prices for starters are ridiculous bargains. Entree prices are still good for the quality. The staff is gracious, friendly, and seem to enjoy being here. The small size of the place and the space between tables makes it perfect for conversations over dinner. Lively, but not too loud. Wish they had a few more wine choices by the glass, but that's the only nitpicky thing I can think of that's a down side. We'll be back... again and again and again.
Truly an incredible dining experience. Indoor seating as well as outdoor when the weather is nice. We didn't find anything on the menu that wasn't incredibly fresh, and decadently delicious. Very complex flavors that worked extremely well together, entrees as well as deserts. Outstanding wine selection and service!! This place is a winner!!!

Mainstrasse Village Pub

619 Main St
Covington, 41011
Reviews:
Nestled in the heart of the Mainstrasse bar district, you will find this little, dimly-lit gem, to first appear to be a typical local "dive-ish" joint... However, it's not long until you start to discover all of it's charming qualities. A friendly staff, extensive craft beer selections, and all the daily drink specials definitely make for a great first impression. Then you begin to notice the patron loyalty and you realize you're "where everybody knows your name," which adds to it's charm. In addition, Village Pub, might just be my new favorite place to watch the Bengals game. The energy of all the fans is pretty incredible. Make sure to learn the Bengals fight song because you'll be singing it everytime they get a touchdown. It also doesn't hurt that they offer complimentary food during the games as well. The only downside is that it's a pretty smoky place. But if that doesn't bother you, you should check it out!
Bravo! Pool tables, straight sticks, and racks of balls. Easy access to the bar for beers, and I'm a very happy guy. That's all I wanted, and that's all I got! I'm not a regular pool player, but I was having a mood. It helped when the competition "broke" and then I managed to sink six in a row, something I've never done before. This place didn't try to be more than what it is - there wasn't a cloudy overcast of "cool." Stay thirsty my friends, and stop in the Village Pub and grab a beer and a stick.
Village Pub is always a four star joint unless there is an acoustic musician dousing my vibe with melancholy (hey, to each their own). With ample billiard space and a pretty killer jukebox, Village Pub maintains its cool without showing off. On the Wednesday night of my most recent visit, grape bombs were on special for $4 (never had one so I had to try, yum). Their bottle beer selection is copious without being intimidating, and every brew I've had tasted is fresh. Village Pub is packed on the weekends, but this isn't the kind place that you have to worry about folks breaking pool sticks over people's heads. Though during Mardi Gras, you might see women doing things for beads that are downright unspeakable. All in a good night in Covington.

Herb & Thelma’s Tavern

718 Pike St
Covington, 41011
Reviews:
Five stars. Herb and Thelma's is exactly what it's suppose to be. Prices and decor are from 1979 (or before). The well-seasoned grill is over 60 years old and every burger tastes great as the meat is fresh from Bessler's Meat on Madison. Joe bought the joint at the first of the year, and he and his wife have given it a good scrubbin' and a larger beer selection including Upland and Rhinegeist. It's pretty intimidating going in, but relax and it will grow on you. They do allow smoking after 4pm, but I've only occasionally seen one person with a cigarette at any given time. I've had some friends avoid it for that reason, but there is a second room and the ventilation is good. Get down there, especially after a ride on the Devou Trails. Better yet, don't go. I don't want it to be too popular.
I'm updating my review because it is under new management, the burgers ($3 cheeseburger, $5.25 double) are still delicious BUT theyre open past 5pm on Saturdays (With non-smoking from 11a-4pm). Just as good as before but with a little more weekend time to check out the place, enjoy a burger and beer, and talk with the owners! If you like burgers and have never been, GO! If you've been but not recently, GO back!
Here's a short little video you may enjoy on YouTube about this great little pub, a hamburger gem, also a place to have a frosty with the nicest host you will eve meet, Rich Richie : youtube.com/watch?v=Uy7w…

Our second visit today, this is a great little place! We had tacos both times and they were delicious! Especially the chorizo! Connected to a Mexican grocery, the place is small, simple, authentic and clean! You'll feel like you're in the heart of Mexico!
Stopped in for lunch- the menu is small, but the food is good, very spicy though - I literally broke out in a sweat. Bonus - they have Mexican Coca-cola - yummy! Nice little place for a quick lunch! We all had tacos ( steak, chicken, and chorizo). No complaints from anyone in our group!
The worst food ever! So spicy I couldn't eat it and I love spicy food! Got a certificate off if restaurant. Com and they wouldn't honour it. Said it was for a different restaurant although it had the name address and phone number of the shit hole we were in. Food made me sick!

GREAT local bar! Can not beat the prices... I literally dropped my drink when the bartender gave me my tab:)
This place is a dive bar at best. I came in the afternoon to enjoy a few libations. All the spots at the bar where taken with people preparing for a UK game in 5 hours.... Yes the prime spots had been claimed and people were already talking about camping out till "the game". We played a few rounds of dart and also they have a nice shuffle board table. The bar isn't used to keeping much craft beer on hand because after 6 total Two Hearted Ale's the bartender told us she was out and recommended draft. I didn't mind the atmosphere, but quickly remembered the luxury of bars being no smoking. We dinner reservation that evening and I had to take a shower beforehand to get the pungent smell out. Cheap beer, no food options, lots of TV's and bar games... may return but make sure to wear clothes you can burn afterwards.
Hide from your problems here. Fun crowd very reasonable drink prices and talkitive staff.
