Now OPEN as " C&J Cafe" in the same location. Ate there a week ago, & it was very good. Got a good "country ham sandwich," & sides, without waiting 1 hour at Cracker Barrell. Just a short drive, about a block, from I-65 towards Mammoth Cave.
OMG! Amazing food! Proprietors Doc and Sandy make a mean BBQ, cream corn, pot roast (my favorite) , and sweet carrots to name a few of the items on the$9.99, all-you-can-eat menu. I should also mention they make amazing desserts--all homemade. The merengue-topped butterscotch pie was my favorite, but you can't go wrong with any of the fresh fruit turnover over pies, merengue-topped chocolate pies, or Mississippi Mud cake. This restaurant is destined to become as big an attraction as the Mammoth Caves!
Stopped by for supper on March 29, 2015 but appears like it's closed. For rent signs in the window

Our family group of 10 plus a baby had a great time here last night after a long day in Mammoth Cave. The service was quick and friendly, and they had an easy time putting together a large table for us. The food was wonderful. I loved my chicken chimichanga and it came with great rice, beans and guacamole. My husband liked his burrito. In addition to all of the typical Mexican dishes, they had some more unusual offerings. One of my brothers in law had an enchilada that included shrimp, broccoli and pineapple. He loved it. I would highly recommend coming here if you're in the area.
This place was great! the portions were huge and all the entrees were around 10-15 dollars. the beer....omg we had a 16 oz. dos equis from tap at 1.50 dollars each during happy hour. I challenge you to find a place with cheaper beer. had a great time here
In a word, amazing! From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, we were nothing but impressed. Delicious, authentic food and margaritas, for a really good price. We ordered the nachos la casa, con bistec, and a chimichanga. If we lived any closer (we live in Madison, WI) we would be regulars here.

Sometimes you just crave some solid pancakes and CB definitely fits the bill. There are not a ton of options available right outside Mammoth Cave, so we stopped here (my FIL almost wanted to stop at McD's across the street). I ordered a couple of buttermilk pancakes topped with a blackberry compote and a side of biscuits with sausage and gravy. I did not expect the amount of compote that came with my pancakes, and since I don't like sodden pancakes, I did wish that I had asked for the compote on the side as I had the whipped cream. I removed the pancakes immediately from their plates, and actually was very impressed with the pancakes. They had just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and fluffiness in the middle. And the compote turned out to be quite good, and we dipped the extra biscuits they gave us with this. The natural syrup that came with my order was not 100% maple though. The waitress did not know this even though it is on the bottle. It was nice that they gave you an entire small bottle though, so we took ours with us just in case. The sausage biscuit in gravy was just ok. I had expected the components to come on one plate, but they were all separate. Nothing special about this dish, and I'm glad I ordered it as a side and not the entire entree. Our table also ordered other items: fried apples, grits, poached eggs, hash brown casserole, etc. The best was likely the has brown casserole (can't go wrong with hash browns really) and the poached egg (the perfect softness, which restaurants often don't achieve). Service was excellent. The waitress was so sweet, it was almost saccharine. They kept an eye out on our water glasses, and made sure the food came out in a timely manner. When my FIL asked for some extra coffee at the end of the meal, the waitress brought him a to go cup. Very nice. Service and food together: 3.5 stars.
It's a Cracker Barrel... what can I say? There's a million cracker barrel's up and down the road. But since this is only one of like two restaurants in the whole teeny-tiny town, I figured I should review it for others... LOL On our trip to Mammoth Cave, we stayed at a little hotel across the street. This town is tiny, if it's even considered a town. There's Cracker Barrel, and some Mexican joint. There's no way we were gonna eat at some random mexican joint in the middle of Po-Dunk U.S.A.. SO we ate at the Cracker Barrel - TWICE. Both times we got seated very quickly. Our waitresses were above average both times. The food was excellent both times (for all 3 people in our party). I'd say overall we had 2 great experiences here! Prices are definitely fair, and for being a chain restaurant the food has so much flavor! 2 thumbs up!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place while visiting Mammoth Cave. The waiter was very friendly and they didn't mind at all when my wife breastfed. I got the chicken pot pie, which came with stir fried veggies and mashed potatoes and biscuits. Probably not the healthiest but it was damned good. For desert I ended up getting the cheesecake, expecting some heated up frozen cheesecake shipped from who knows where, but was again pleasantly surprised. It tasted better than store bought cheesecake factory cheesecake, and actually tasted pretty fresh. I recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere family friendly with good tasting grub.

I had the buffet which contained turkey, catfish and meatloaf, beans, peas and potatoes and some other vegetables. After taking my first bite, I'm not sure if they use candles under the buffet trays or blocks of ice. The food was cold. I could imagine it being tasty if it was hot, but I never had the opportunity to eat any hot food. The entire place smelled like cigarette smoke and even though there was a non smoking section, we could not escape it. On the plus side, the waitress was super friendly and looked after us very well and is the only reason I gave it 2 stars
The best catfish. Tender and not fishy. The rest of the buffet was OK, not great. It's standard southern food: greenbeans and ham hocks, mac n cheese, chili, cornbread. The peach cobbler was worth seconds. $7 including a drink on Tuesdays With that 7 bucks you aren't paying for ambiance, good thing too, cause there isn't any.
My husband and I needed a place to eat a quick dinner before getting back to Mammoth Cave, and saw this on the side of the road. From the outside, it looks pretty bad, and inside was not that much better. Surprisingly, it was crowded. They had a large buffet which seemed to be what most people ordered, but we ordered off the menu. The food was okay, I had the BBQ pork and my husband had a veggie omelet, but the service was a bit slow. The waitress was very nice, but was taking care of all the tables herself. If we had the time, I would have driven around more and found a nicer place. It wasn't horrible, but not too great.

Don't be put off by the outside, the inside is super clean & well kept, the so advertised "almost famous" beef vegetable soup is super delicious and the the steaks are really good! Probably the best choice in the area for a reasonably nice dinner out!
Went here for lunch after taking a tour at Mammoth Cave over July 4th weekend. It was one of the few places open on the holiday. They call themselves a steakhouse, but it feels more like a family-owned small restaurant. Both the interior and exterior were kind of boring-looking. The food was ok, and to be honest, we weren't expecting much anyways, so we weren't really disappointed. Their lunches steaks are all pounded thin, and tend to either be over-cooked or under-cooked. My friend ordered a grilled cheese, and it was literally just some toasted bread with two slices of cheese in the middle. I think the best part of the meal was the salad bar and soup, because let's be real here, you can't really mess up a salad bar. I'm also just a sucker for potato salad, so they get an A+ for having that ;) Despite the mediocre food, our server was very friendly. I'm not sure that I'll eat here again, unless I'm not feeling fast food or there's nothing else open.
What a great place. Vary clean. The soup was out of this world. Steak was cooked just right. Every thing in not drowned in grease and oil. Felt like we cooked it at home. ... we will be back at least 1 more time this trip

Not been here for a while, & when someone mentioned Pizza Hut, I had mixed feelings. BUT, all was good. The hostess facilitated my Carry-Out order, by greeting me, LISTENING to my need, & making suggestions. The food was ready, exactly on time, HOT, & "Ready to ROLL." My friends were quite pleased with the food, and I was quite pleased as they made my job work out.
I went with my kids today. Service was prompt and courteous. Food was normal Pizza Hut food (very good). Probably One of the cleanest Huts I've been to. I'm glad we didn't not come here because of the reviews. Not discounting them. The previous patrons may have come on a bad day or maybe the manager was not at the location. In any case, very good for a Pizza Hut.
It had some really good pizza, and the service was a little slow but friendly. It was also kinda small.. but in a cozy kind of way.

This is going to be a short, but sweet review on our trip to El Patron. 1. Our waitress was absolutely clueless about the menu. She didn't know what type of sides are available with the meals. Didn't help she was incredibly young for a waitress and obivously new. Felt like she was let down by improper training by management. 2. We got water spilt all over us. We actually felt really bad that she spilt the water and helped her clean it up with a mop. 3. Food was surprisingly good. Burritos were made well and my girlfriends steak was well cooked. Seems more like bar that happens to be a restaurant than a restaurant that has a bar, kinda thing. 4. Awkward old couple sitting next us were complaining about every little thing. Was pretty entertaining to watch the stammer, "No, no, no." Overall it was an interesting experience but one I will never forget at El Patron.
So we went here for our weekend vacation to mammoth, naturally. We chose this over the other Mexican joint because the kid doesn't like Mexican and they serve breakfast all day. After getting there and reviewing the food on others tables and the atmosphere, we wanted to leave. Stayed and regretted it because reviews to the other Mexican spot were so much better. Also looks like a junk yard in the back. Rice seemed like minute rice to me with no seasoning
The restaurant is clean! However, let me share with everyone why it's not so great! 1. The waitress asked if I wanted lime in my Margarita. 2. Waitress was clueless about menu. 3. Menu appeared more American fare than Mexican. 4. Salsa for chips and salsa came out HOT-like temperature HOT. Tasted like grandma's stewed tomatoes. Threw the lime from my margarita in to give it flavor. 5. Have these people ever been to Mexico, any part?! Shoot, Tiajuana will count at this point. I make better Mexican food in my uber American home kitchen. 6. Had to use EVERY condiment on the table top to create a meal I could even fathom eating. Bottom line, keep on driving!

The stench of old garbage was overwhelming. Although the place appears to be clean, it's obvious it is in need of some serious cleaning. This visit while Micky D's management was evidently interfacing with local management. They should have called a halt to the meeting and instituted an immediate cleaning up of the site.
Dirty conditions, fries were good hamburger was not.... Even though it was October, they had a lot of flies in the building. They went as far as to hang plastic bags with a few pennies in them over the door.
Beautiful modern looking. Went inside to use restroom on road trip & to buy the kids McFlurries. Very clean looking & feeling. Bathroom looked great too. All McDonald's should look like this!
