This is the best value for price restaurants in Berea. The buffet has a large variety with exceptional starters and chicken dishes - all for less than $10. I would go there multiple times in a month if it was closer to the Berea College campus. You will not be disappointed by the Hong Kong Restaurant buffet.

Duck Dynasty meets the food trough crowd in this quaint, dated Chinese buffet. Foodwise, it's basic Chinese buffet---limited, though tasty. A two buck charge for one tea bag in a pot of water seems excessive, but hey, if they pay, do it. Did anything stand out? The Hibachi Chicken and the Swimming in Water poached Salmon! Ambiance? Not really, unless looking at steamy windows and comparing woodland camo is your thing. But, if you've tumbled off I-75 and have a hankering for good hot soup and a limited selection, and are hungry, put on your camo hat and stomp in. You'll leave in a different state of mind.

This is a very cheap buffet and definitely has some high quality food. The waitresses are always extremely nice and keep you filled up with drink. I definitely recommend this establishment if you are in need for a quick bite!

It's a fun place in Berea for what they offer of a variety of Chinese food! We go there with friends regularly. Sometimes the food looks better than it tastes, but overall, it is good Chinese food.

The Hong Kong Buffet offered "sit down and order" quality Chinese food at buffet prices. They had a lot of great food--impressive variety. I especially enjoyed the different kinds of chicken. They had sweet and sour sauces as well as General Tso's. I often wonder, who was General Tso and why does he have chicken named after him. He certainly has a greater legacy than any battle-winning military officer. The servers were very sweet. I really liked the service. Our beverages were there immediately. I honestly cannot think of a better way to spend 6 bucks for lunch or dinner. I'm probably going to go back sometime this week.

This is easily one of the restaurants in the area, and it is an excellent buffet for Chinese food. The service at this place is very good as the staff is very attentive to the customer. There are areas to sit and be part of the ambiance of the other customers and there are booths for those who do not like to eat in front of others. There is a wide variety of food types. I would advise anyone, whether a Chinese food enthusiast or not to try it out.

If Hong Kong Buffet was closer to the College I would probably end up there almost every day because I can't stop raving about how good the food is! The honey and General Tso's chicken is so amazing! The Fried rice is a little lacking but everything else is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. And the value is really great as well!

It's your decent Chinese buffet fare. Nothing out of the ordinary. You do feel nasty after about two plates. As someone who grew up eating superb Asian food, it's not my favorite. The question is why choose "just okay" over "pretty good" over at Wan Pen across the highway? I suppose you go because you're just hungry.

The Hong Kong Restaurant is one of my favorite place to go as a Berea College student. I usually go with my friends after classes and or work Fridays. We love to go here because there is a nice atmosphere and there is no TV perfect to have a nice conversation. We also like the service, the personnel is really nice. But, the reason number one me and my friends come to this place is because they have an all you can eat buffet which is great for hungry college students. Personally I fill at least 4 times my plate with white rice, noodles and sweet and sour chicken and end up with some good ice cream. I also recently learned that the Hong Kong restaurant has carry out available. Carry out is perfect if you are in a rush and are not able to stop and eat. It is also good because it's cheaper, the average price is around six or seven dollar, you get charged by the weight of your food. I have started to use carry out more often and I really like it. This is a nice place to go in Berea, KY especially if you are really hungry.

My roommate and I decided we wanted some good food and great atmosphere. We were welcomed in and free to check out the buffet. The buffet has a great assortment of Chinese dishes. The food really made me feel like a part of China was in the backyard of Berea. I would highly recommend eating here!

The Hong Kong Restaurant did not appeal to me as much as I had hoped. They had a variety of food and plenty of it but for some reason it did not seem fresh to me. I did not like one of the waitresses she was cold and over looked things to much. The fused at my partner for wanting to get extra refills on the tea he bought. There restaurant is kept clean which is nice and most of the food is warm. In my opinion the Restaurant has a bad smell that made it very difficult for me to enjoy my meal. I appreciate the wide selection of food they have. The place is very quiet and peaceful It is nice to go there for a Saturday lunch and relax with a bunch of friends.

Now if you want good Chinese food from a buffet in the Berea area, then this is the place to go check out. The food is always fresh and the service is always top notch. The buffet has a wide selection of foods to choose from and for 7 bucks or so you can't go wrong with an all you can eat special.(For those Berea College students the price gets even sweeter since the price gets discounted if you show your college ID at the front desk) Me, personally I always check out the crab meat since its so good and fresh...as well as the stuffed mushrooms which are just perfect and not too soggy or uncooked like some places I've been. This place is truly a diamond in the rough so check it out if you have some spare time and hungry for a good meal.

Best in Berea Chinese in Berea.. not that this is saying much, but if you are in the mood for it than this will hit the spot. You can use the buffet of order of the menu for both eat in or take out.

A friend and I stopped in the Hong kong Restaurant before Jazzy Nights. I thought it would be just like any other Chinese place and wasn't expecting much. I walked in and I was really shocked. The variety of the food was immaculate and the service was extremely friendly. I loved the atmosphere and for being a buffet the noise level was almost nonexistent. The food was fresh and they were quick to restock the bffet. An overall great experience.

Easter Sunday, and neither my daughter nor I had a desire to fight the crowds pouring into the traditional Easter Buffets serving ham and eggs, so we opted for something different. Tucked away in a strip mall a couple of blocks off of the main road leading to Berea College, the Hong Kong Buffet seemed to fit the bill beautifully. Pleasantly surprised that it showed open at 11:00 a.m., we made our way in. Although it was already 11:15, we were still the first ones there. The three buffet stations seemed relatively empty when we walked in, and fearing that we had come through an unlocked door and they were still closed, we asked the waitress if they were indeed open. Assured that they were, we were told it would be a few minutes before they were fully set up. We ordered, and quickly received, our sodas. The décor is sparse and typical Chinese buffet: Oriental decorations around with a couple of very large backlit scenes hung on the walls. We noted a couple of young children running around, obviously part of the family. They were well behaved, and waited patiently for their food (they too, hit the buffet) as we did. A few moments later, were told that the buffet was ready. Although one of the three sections was still in the process of being prepared, there was plenty to choose from in the remaining two stations. I started off with the hot and sour soup topped with some crispy noodles (as always), and piled on the usual assortment for my first plate: Shrimp and (imitation) Crab with cheese, Mussels, Lo Mein Noodles, Mushroom Chicken and Meatloaf. The Hot and Sour soup was very good, warm and earthy with plenty of vegetable and tofu pieces in the broth. The other items were all hot, fresh and well-seasoned. Nothing was too spicy, even the spicy things. A return trip with a second plate revealed that all of the wells were now full, with the addition of steamed and fried fish, fried and peel and eat shrimp, crab Rangoon, pepper steak, sweet and sour pork .....And the list goes on. There is a section for the kids (non-Chinese) that include chicken nuggets, fries, pizza; the usual American food one finds at these things. The rest I would describe as "typical Chinese Buffet fare", but the quality here was very high. Now keep in mind that the buffet had just opened, so we had the luxury of getting to it all just after it was presented. The real test of any buffet is a few hours later. How full is everything kept? How well maintained is the temperature? Hot food hot and cold food cold? New food dumped into old? A buffet can be a dark, scary place in the food world. Thirty minutes after opening, it seemed to be going OK in the food safety department. Nothing super fancy or exotic here on this visit (except for some frog legs, which were absolutely delicious), but good, quality fare. The buffet price was reasonable, and although the atmosphere was a little dark and sparse, I was not disappointed. I would put this as a place to go when in the mood for Chinese while in Berea country.

I like eating at this place. You can eat as much as you like for only $7 give or take. The buffet is very big, so you can find something that satisfies your taste. That's all I can say about this place. Respectful Chinese waitresses, good food, and affordable price.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
