My family ate there today and the service was friendly and helpful, but we found the food to be very good. We had been traveling, so we were tired of fast food and decided to take a chance and we are happy we did! My youngest daughter tried the pancakes with strawberry topping, they were the best pancakes I have ever had, and the topping was perfect, NOT store bought!! My hamburger was good, and my husband's pork chop looked, and he said, tasted wonderful. My older daughter ordered a rib eye and she was very happy! So happy we finally stopped and gave it a chance!

Wonderful food! Reasonable price. The breakfast special offered variety and more food than we could eat. The best part was that the combination of atmosphere, customer service and just enough nostalgia truly made breakfast an event for my husband and I.

Slow service even though there were only two other tables in the place.. Tasteless food except for the super salty green beans. Mashed potatoes were the best thing on my plate. Neither of us were overly thrilled with anything. We've driven by here many times and won't be stopping back. Country-style menu is very similar to Cracker Barrel. Wishing we'd stopped there instead.

Seemed like a Cracker Barrel with your grandmother's decor. The service was really slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy. The food was eh. It is what you would expect from a small town country diner.

Nice lunch while traveling south on I-75. Enjoyed the deep fried breaded cauliflower, the baked ham with pineapple and baked potato. My family tried the BLT and the catfish. Very solid.

Dinner Bell has been in Berea, KY, for 28 years; founded and currently owned by the former Executive Director of the Boone Tavern. I must say that I like the feel and charm of Dinner Bell far better than its close corporate competitor, Cracker Barrel. The service is personable, friendly, and neighborly. The store within the restaurant has just about every ounce of charm you can imagine. You will be treated very well at Dinner Bell, which is not something you can say about chain and corporate restaurants. I have heard rave reviews about Dinner Bell's pork chops as well; my girlfriend says they are the best pork chops she has ever had. Overall I had an enjoyable time learning about Dinner Bell and its participation in the local Berea economy and community. I will certainly recommend Dinner Bell to my friends and return to eat there again myself.

You may think it is a knock off Cracker Barrel but it is not. It is more like a country like diner. It is very quaint. I had the country fried steak with a sweet potato and okra. The steak was a little salty for my taste but still really good. The prices were moderate. The sweet potato was super yummy. I definitely recommend stopping by this small local business. The dinner bell is unique in how much decoration is in the restaurant.

Dinner Bell is somewhat of a quaint Cracker Barrel. The atmosphere and decor is very much like grandma's house. Their merchandise mostly consists of cozy quilts. There's also a small arcade section, near the restrooms, for young kids to enjoy. Dinner Bell offered your typical southern foods. They even had a special for each day of the week--of which I ordered the salmon patties, along with mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes as sides. I also ordered a cup of the vegetable soup. It was a good meal, I especially liked the soup and fried green tomatoes. The mashed potatoes were truly mashed potatoes, none of the flakes-from-a-box kind. It's a very home-styled cooking, so if you like that, try the Dinner Bell!

I went to the Dinner Bell with my boyfriend not too long ago and it was a great country restaurant. The waitress we had was very friendly and patient with us, but I also felt alienated and was not asked if everything was going ok with my meal. I just feel like this is a miniature Cracker Barrel, but I do appreciate the environment it conveys. I would recommend trying everything once, and not necessarily taking the opinions of others to make your own. So definitely give it a taste!

Living in Berea most of my life, I've gone here only a few times, and none of those were great experiences. Food was mediocre, staff was never very friendly and the atmosphere was lackluster. I don't suggest it when friends ask.

BOTTOM LINE - Dinner Bell Bob deserves your business! I have often railed about the lack of good choices here in these parts, but even if we did have them - I'd wanna eat breakfast at the Dinner Bell from time-to-time. They have lots more than breakfast (including swell daily specials), but I just happen to like pork chops and eggs. Yes it's simple food. Yes it's not as fancy (HA!) as Cracker Barrel. But local is local and good is good, and having just written a terrible review about the Back Porch Smokehouse I wanted to write something nice about somebody. Go eat some soup beans and cornbread at The Dinner Bell....and say hi to Bob the owner while you'e there....super fella!

The food was ok. I love Chicken sandwiches. I had the chicken sandwich with home fries and sweet Iced Tea. The Iced Tea was delicious and the home fries were delicious but needed some salt. the Chicken sandwich came with lettuce and tomato the tomato was too big and kept slipping out of my sandwich making it hard to eat cleanly. I was dinning with the rest of the Enactus Officers and overall we had a great time there.

I enjoyed my lunch here with my daughter. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming and the food was pretty good. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was thicker meat with A1 sauce. The prices were good for a lunch meal. I definitely liked my visit here

Excellent pork tenderloin - seasoned just right and served after just the right amount of time to know if wasn't pre-prepared! Fried okra, sweet potato and cornbread topped off this meal at a very reasonable price! Service was very good and we came away with 2 meals, coffee and a nice tip for $25.

I hate to say it, but this is obviously one of the places that Cracker Barrel ripped off and turned into a corporate chain. Although Dinner Bell's prices are cheaper, I personally think Cracker Barrel's food is better but in the future, when I have the choice between CB and Dinner Bell, i'll support a local business and you should too! Cracker Barrel style food for cheaper while supporting a local business? I say yes! Go local! Down with the man! :P

This fabulous restaurant has been around for a while; 28 years to be exact. The owner Bob Stewart is a former Executive manager at the Boone Tavern hotel, and just can't get enough of conversing with people, managing, and making people happy. This restaurant has a great selection of food as well. From there fresh home made cobblers, fresh vegetables, fluffy blueberry, strawberry, and apple pancakes, soup beans with KY corn bread, and much much more. This great establishment is worth the drive from any home, state, country, or continent. Stop by, you'll LOVE it.

Best down home cooking in town and it has the amazing southern hospitality to go right along with it. This little restaurant is owned by a Berea Alumni, who will sit down with you in a heartbeat. I really loved the atmosphere in the place the way the seating was set up to where you feel sounded by a very homey environment. If you are coming by Berea and don't want to eat at a normal chain restaurant stop by they will set you right up with some awesome cooking and amazing service, and will help you figure out where you want to go next on your journey.

For 28 years Dinner Bell and its two co-owners Bob & Velra Stewart have served delicious meals, friendly or as they say-southern friendly. Breakfast menu is available all the time. Home cooked food, dished generously with friendly smile and skilled staff. The pan cakes, fried shrimp and biscuits are real good some of the best you will ever taste.
