Dairy Queen Berea

Reviews:
We always go to this DQ for breakfast when visiting Berea. Great food, service as evident from all the locals.
This particular dairy queen is fast in their service, and their food is like every other dairy queen's. Interestingly on a side note, it seems as if this location has replaced the country store of old as a morning congregating place where men come to drink coffee, have breakfast, and tell stories.
Quick/friendly service and typical DQ food. Can't complain.

Hong Kong Restaurant

Reviews:
This is the best value for price restaurants in Berea. The buffet has a large variety with exceptional starters and chicken dishes - all for less than $10. I would go there multiple times in a month if it was closer to the Berea College campus. You will not be disappointed by the Hong Kong Restaurant buffet.
Duck Dynasty meets the food trough crowd in this quaint, dated Chinese buffet. Foodwise, it's basic Chinese buffet---limited, though tasty. A two buck charge for one tea bag in a pot of water seems excessive, but hey, if they pay, do it. Did anything stand out? The Hibachi Chicken and the Swimming in Water poached Salmon! Ambiance? Not really, unless looking at steamy windows and comparing woodland camo is your thing. But, if you've tumbled off I-75 and have a hankering for good hot soup and a limited selection, and are hungry, put on your camo hat and stomp in. You'll leave in a different state of mind.
This is a very cheap buffet and definitely has some high quality food. The waitresses are always extremely nice and keep you filled up with drink. I definitely recommend this establishment if you are in need for a quick bite!

I never knew how delicious a tomato could be until I had a turkey sandwich on rye bread here with pickles, cheese, and tomatoes. Because of you, Amish store, I sneer at all other tomatoes. I will never be the same. Best deli in town. I love a good sandwich and Amish store never disappoints me. I can't say the same for the soup but the sandwiches are soooo delicious! Great portion for the price too. The store has a lot of cool looking products (I only come for the turkey sandwiches! lol).
Bulk foods and candies galore. Mostly meats, grains, flour, butter, canned/jarred goods, and candy. Nice stop!
I enjoy the bulk spice section and the kids love the bulk candy. If you're not careful you can spend a small fortune in this place. The deli has some yummy sandwiches at very reasonable prices. If you're driving through Berea via 75, stop and pick up a few things.

Honestly, I have been to a lot of Long John Silver's establishments, but this one is by far the best one. The employees are super nice and helpful. Especially the guy named Ricky, if you get him make sure you give him a smile! The food may take a little longer than usual, but really the food is worth it in the end. It is never dried out or cold, the fish is always fresh and tastes great. don't forget to try a cold mug of A&W, it is wonderful on a hot summer day.

My brother and I ate here twice in 4 days. It was pretty good, especially for what I was expecting out of this part of Kensucky. The staff were all very polite, and the food was good. We had the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza the first night, and it was tasty, but the second night we had the Mountaineer. Holy shit, it was really good and had all sorts of fresh toppings. They put some garlic in their pizza crust which really sets it off. I also had some garlic bread, which was buttery as a motherfucker. Now, the only downside to the mountaineer was what happened after eating it. It gave my brother the worst gas he's had in YEARS. I mean, this motherfucker was stinking like nobody's business. Which is normally pretty funny, but we were sharing a hotel room. I suggested he go fart in the elevator, which he did. I then suggested that he sneak down to the first floor, walk up to the front desk, look the attendant in the eyes while he farts and then walk away without saying anything. He wouldn't go that far with it. What a pussy.
The pizzas are pretty good, best around, but that's not saying much. The service is about as slow as it can be. One night I called in an order and still had to wait 30 mins. Sometimes it is worth the wait....other times the pizzas aren't so good. Oh yeah, very pricey too.
Good pizza but if you are wanting a salad don't bother. The "all veggie" Alternative Salad was as alternative as a Celine Dion ballad on Muzak.

My husband and I saw the sign for Dino's while traveling to Florida. We stopped here for lunch and loved it! My husband had the hot Italian sub with crispy fries for about $6. I had the daily special: spaghetti with meat sauce and two meatballs and it came with two breadsticks for $4.99. What a deal and so delicious. We are stopping again on the way back to Ohio.
Haven't been to this restaurant, but have ordered pizza several times at the beginning of Freshman year! We all thought that it was very good.
I like this place and the lunch specials they have. The pizza is great as well as the spaghetti. Don't expect your spaghetti to taste like store bought sauce like prego. The only issue ive had was my salad was not drained fully of water, but no big deal.

Mariachis Mexican Restaurant

Reviews:
The food was great and the amount they give you is a lot. It is not the cheapest but it is delicious.
Let start by saying that alcohol is not served here. Once I got passed that the food was typical American Mexican food with large portion sizes & the flavor was okay. It seemed cheap at first glance however, once we got the bill I was a bit surprised, but that's on me the menu has prices for a reason. I guess we chose pricier than average meals. I am a bit spoiled I guess with my local Mexican joint, but the staff here seemed a bit uptight & not very friendly.
We absolutely LOVED the carnitas, both as a main dish and in the tacos. If we lived near Mariachi's, we would return regularly for this dish. Amazing! The chorizo tacos were also wonderful. The only thing we didn't enjoy much was the beef enchilada verdes. It would have been much better without the cheese sauce heaped on top. The service was great. Hoping we pass through Berea again so we can get the carnitas.

My family ate there today and the service was friendly and helpful, but we found the food to be very good. We had been traveling, so we were tired of fast food and decided to take a chance and we are happy we did! My youngest daughter tried the pancakes with strawberry topping, they were the best pancakes I have ever had, and the topping was perfect, NOT store bought!! My hamburger was good, and my husband's pork chop looked, and he said, tasted wonderful. My older daughter ordered a rib eye and she was very happy! So happy we finally stopped and gave it a chance!
Wonderful food! Reasonable price. The breakfast special offered variety and more food than we could eat. The best part was that the combination of atmosphere, customer service and just enough nostalgia truly made breakfast an event for my husband and I.
Slow service even though there were only two other tables in the place.. Tasteless food except for the super salty green beans. Mashed potatoes were the best thing on my plate. Neither of us were overly thrilled with anything. We've driven by here many times and won't be stopping back. Country-style menu is very similar to Cracker Barrel. Wishing we'd stopped there instead.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

101 McKinney Dr
Berea, 40403
Reviews:
If you want some simple country style food this is your place. No shortage of gravy bread and rolls to go with everything. Sort of the like any other chain this is a place you go into knowing what to expect and setting your expectations accordingly. If you want gourmet cuisine this isn't your place. But a decent chicken fried steak (or chicken fried chicken) with gravy and couple southern-style sides and you are at home. Never have I seen alcohol on a Cracker Barrel menu so maybe its a corporate position, so expect tea, sweet tea, or other when you eat.
Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite restaurants, and this one certainly does the chain justice. Great food, great service, great price. It is not anything unique, but it is a nice place to gather with friends.
I am new to Southern food. I ate here 3 times so far and absolutely loved it. I would return to try more of their great dishes. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is of a high quality. I always enjoy browsing around at their store, and end up getting some candy and little souvenirs and gifts.

Main Street Cafe

110 Main St
Berea, 40403
Reviews:
Server was hopping! She was working numerous tables and keeping the orders moving smoothly. As she worked, she bussed. Really, she upped this a star. Menu is diverse with options for the critter avoiding of your party. Food was on par with any cafe; however, it was hot! The flavors were well balanced without being palate challenging. The chips that came with the sandwich were ruffles knock offs that were well beneath what a touristy kitsch-fest should be serving. Go with bagged kettle chips that you warm under the broiler if you are desperate, but the really great sandwiches need a better supporting cast. I had a lovely little cookie to top it off that was a lovely chewy peanut butter cookie that was perfect. Not super sweet, just a really good cookie made with real stuff. Two stars deducted for lack of palate challenging (though it would be detrimental to sales to the locals) and the chip selection (though I could have upped to fries for 99 cents). Addition of star for above average service and I know I look like hell today, so it must be how she is with everyone.
My very first time trying Main Street I had the pepper jack burger and it was tasty ! Besides the long wait and the food being a bit over priced . I still would suggest their burgers to anyone looking to have fresh , hand pattied angus beef because they won't let you down .
I have gone to this restaurants multiple times and I keep coming back to hope that I order something better. However, every time I go I'm disappointed. The prices are pretty high for the taste and the service! The last time I stopped by I never once got a refill for my drink after finishing it in about 15 minutes. The waitress was nice, but I suggest she pay a little more attention to her customers needs.
