Food: I like to consider myself a breakfast sandwich connoisseur. I'm fairly picky and I am not easily impressed. Needless to say we came here twice on our short stay because the sammies were THAT good. We had the egg sammie both times - once with the english muffin and once with the house made biscuit. Immediately after biting into the biscuit I felt like kicking myself for not ordering it the day before. It was hands down the best biscuit I've ever had. It was the perfect amount of flaky savory goodness. The fresh chives baked in added unexpected flavors and made the biscuit look pretty perched on your plate. We added bacon and sausage to the sammies too. Both times we were very happy. Smoky flavors and cooked to perfection. Service: The staff and owner were super friendly. I really enjoyed that the owner recognized repeat customers and made everyone feel like a regular. It was very apparent that he loved his job. Ambience: Very relaxed and casual. You could come in sweats or a more dressy outfit and I don't think anyone would judge. Other: The set up was cool. There were tables outside on a patio like area or downstairs. They are also dog friendly. Our local friends who took us there brought their new pup, as did plenty of other customers. The owner even brought out water dishes for them. Super nice. Plus it gave me a chance to drool over other people's puppies!
I started visiting this place as an inviting study nook during my endless hours of graduate work. It also happens to have a tasty menu if you want more than just a latte :) I haven't eaten a huge variety on the menu, but what I have sampled - mainly sweet pastries, muffins, and scones - are fresh and delicious. The ambience is cozy but sophisticated, with leather armchairs situated next to a wrought-iron stove in one corner and intimate booths at the other corner. Service is fast and friendly, and I've never had my drink blended not to my satisfaction. If you're in the neighborhood and want a delicious and inviting place for lunch or a coffee break, definitely visit the Anchorage Cafe!
Quite simply, one of the best cafes I have eaten at. Bar none. Came for just a cup of joe and a small muffin. But the ham and leek-biscuit breakfast sandwich caught my eye. Good call, because it was outstanding. The cured ham was sweet, not too salty, and melts in your mouth. The leek biscuits were the perfect combination with the ham and sweet stone ground mustard. Talk with a guy (owner or manager) and we spoke about how all their ingredients were locally grown and sourced. Made my breakfast even better.

Great atmosphere and fantastic food. A really unique place. The only bad thing I have to say about The Village Anchor is that they are almost always packed but that's just a testament to how delicious their food is! It's defiantly worth the wait, but just to be safe, I'd make a reservation. Try the ell chili. Yum!
I have never had a bad experience here. The Sunday brunch is worth every penny. Love the dollar mimosas. Had the corned beef hash. The French toast is huge and can feed two. Service is courteous and quick. Felt very well taken care of. Just wish it was closer to downtown so I could go every week!
I have been here many times. The food is always great. Service is very attentive. Atmosphere is first class. Had the shrimp and grits tonight and it was amazing. All of my dinner companions loved their meals as well. The beer and wine selections are excellent. One of my favorite places in town!
