I like this place. Food is good, service is solid and the drinks are actually really cheap if you get the notion to drink in a Mexican restaurant. It's basically the same as the one in Newport and I actually see some of the staff member alternate between places. Watch out, their margaritas will knock you on your butt. Keep that in mind if you're just having lunch, you'll get a buzz faster than you'd think.

I love this place! The food is always so good and it's a great place to take my kids. We always have a great time every time we go and the service is awesome. Great place for lunch too, very quick and always yummy.

I'm not a giant fan of Mexican food.. The wife is.. So as I have said before we visit a Mexican restaurant now and again. We have come back to here several times. As long as I pick the right thing I enjoy the food.. Their caso dip is really good. Recently I had the ribeye with rice and beans and it was no steakhouse flavor but I liked it. Friendly staff and usually some decent music being played on the weekends table to table. I can understand the 3 star review but not the 2.. Give it a try if your in the Mexican mood.. You won't leave unhappy.

First off, I love Mexican food and will usually seek out a local Mexican restaurant anywhere I go! This Mexican eatery is the best one I have ever ate at. I have never had a bad meal and this is coming from someone who has averaged about 3 visits a month for the past decade! I would recommend the fajitas which no Mexican restaurant has come close to matching the taste of the ones here! Their guacamole is beyond delicious and their rice and beans are mighty tasty too! Now the interior of the restaurant could use a little bit of an upgrade as it's a little dimmer than I would like a restaurant to be and the bench seats tend to move on you a little. However, the service has always been great and the alcohol prices are excellent! They do like to go big on their tequila portions in their margaritas as my girlfriend has pointed out to me numerous times! But she isn't complaining :)

Having experienced the Rio Grande located in Newport, I assumed this would be quite similar. However I was wrong, I was not as impressed by the food, even though it was almost the same menu verbatim. Maybe I am just bias the Newport staff, because well, I absolutely LOVE(D) the service down there. I say loved because it has been slacking here in the recent months, I'm not too sure why, but some of the staff members I think are to blame for this. Anyway Rio, go to Newport rather than Alexandria, you'll love it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
