Small town Tavern. Nothing fancy but great service from friendly people. The food is great, the ribs outstanding, if your expecting linens and fine dining go somewhere else. If you like drinking from a canning jar and using paper towels to wipe the wonderful sauce from your face after gorging yourself on the ribs then come to Guy and Mae's. If nothing else have a hot pickle and a beer. This place is an experience that everyone should have.

We've been traveling to Williamsburg KS for ribs at Guy & Mae's Tavern for about 20 years. We live in the Kansas City area and I've eaten ribs from every major bbq place, and some not-so-major places, and the ribs at Guy & Mae's are my favorite. The ribs are not fatty, they are fall-off-the-bone tender, a perfect mild smoke flavor and I add the sauce, which is awesome-- I do like that control when it comes to bbq. The sides are good, and inexpensive. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, the beer is cold and the service is always friendly.

Great local color, tasty ribs, excellent potato salad. The dollars hanging from the ceiling tradition started a few years ago when some guy put up the first one. Being named after Thomas Jefferson, I put up a $2 bill.

A++++ I grew up in this bar. Learned a lot about life running around this place. I probably turned twenty-one five times here.. Trying not be biased here but the ribs are the best I've ever had. Johnny Carson used to have them flown out to LA on a regular basis. They are that good. Also, order the sausage sammy, a bunch of bbq chips to dip into their sauce and about five bucks worth of their hot pickles. And they have the best beans I've ever had. Anywhere. Cole slaw is supposed to be top notch also, but I don't eat slaw. Throw some money in the jukebox, play some pool, keep the pitchers of beer coming and soak up the atmosphere. There aren't many places like it around anymore.

This place is all about the ribs --- and they are as good as it gets. We stop in every time we can when we're headed to or from KC on I-35. Just a mile or so off of I35 at the Williamsburg exit which is a little bit south of Ottawa. We have typically been there for a late lunch on Saturdays and there is no crowd. Very friendly staff and very quick service. Cash only, but they have an ATM if you're like us and never carry cash. Back to the main attraction -- the ribs. They are perfectly barbecued with just the right amount of seasoning and smoke. They are served dry, as good barbecue should be, so the flavor of the meat comes through. Honestly, I've never even tasted their BBQ sauce, because there's no need to. The meat falls right off the bone, but has good texture. Again, the ribs are the main attraction here. The potato salad and cole slaw sides are pretty good. I would not recommend the beans. It's too bad that such a good BBQ joint serves what taste like Van Camp Pork and Beans, straight from the can. This place is a must stop for us when we're driving by, and would be worth the drive to pick up some ribs to take back home with your own sides.

When you try all the BBQ Ribs in the world, this is the place you come back to and call home!!! Seriously worth the effort.

This is going to be short and sweet - best ribs I have ever had. Grew up in KC and have had every rib that there is.... The newspaper full slab is where it is at!!!

Making a trip out to Guy and Mae's is a trek, but when on a motorcycle its a great place to stop for lunch while cruising. I dont advocate drinking and riding, so I cant comment on this place as a bar, but it seemed pretty simple and domestic. The menu is simple, but really you only came for the ribs. The price is right, and the ribs are brought out wrapped in newspaper. They are extremely tender and have excellent flavor. Inside its dark, old and full of character. Im pretty sure G & M's is the only thing going in Williamsburg as well.

A former co-worker raved about these and brought me half a slab after a visit there. Still perfectly wrapped in the newspaper, they were certainly a treat and totally worth a trip to Williamsburg. For "fall off the bone" ribs, these are true winners. They're flavorful and genuinely are awesome with or without sauce. But if you like the kind of ribs I like - slow smoked with still a little bit of a bite to them - this is not the place. Most people don't though, so for good ribs, this is likely the place for many of you good-bbq-inquiring-yelp-reading-and-reviewing people out there.

Blink, cough or sneeze and you'll miss the tiny town of Williamsburg, Kansas. But don't. Because the BBQ ribs at Guy and Mae's is absolutely worth the trek. There aren't a lot of menu items. But I've found that Guy and Mae's is all about the quality, not quantity. The few items it makes, it makes WELL. There are some meat sandwiches (which are delicious, too), spicy pickles, beans, potato salad, cole slaw. Those, my friends, are really just fillers - the real winner are the ribs. They are served wrapped in newspaper and foil with some slices of white bread. The slab portions are generous. There's plastic-ware but it's ribs. Come with the expectation of getting a lil' diiiiirty. The lesson here is that looks are deceiving. The establishment is in a small, rundown building. The interior a dated and a bit musty. However, dig deeper and you'll find a glorious diamond in the rough...or in this case, a perfectly smoked, falling-off-the-bone rib. It's cash-only but there IS an ATM on-site. The fee is about $3. Small price to pay for a meaty slice of heaven...

Simply amazing. I have only tried the ribs because they are so good, I can't bring myself to try anything else. I visit friends in Westphalia every winter and I make the 30 minute drive to have G&M ribs. If you are a lover of good barbecue, it is more than worth the drive!

We picked our son up from camp last year and stopped by for some BBQ. It was awesome and cheap! We will be calling in our order this year to take home.

Best. RIbs. Ever. I am not one to crave BBQ, but Guy and Mae's ribs are out of this world. A very basic building/tavern which is family-owned and friendly. I wouldn't waste time with anything on the menu but the ribs. I have had a few of the sandwiches and they were fine, but don't schlep all the way out here without eating ribs (and maybe ordering a slab to go) . They fall right off the bone and don't even require sauce. The BBQ beans and hot pickles are excellent as well. Just beer here at this tavern.

The best ribs I have ever had and you have to try them without the sauce they do not need it!!!

It's quite a drive to get here from KC, but so worth it. Best ribs you will ever have, hands down. The ribs are served up on newspaper and wrapped in tin foil, so it's definitely a hole in the wall place, but that's right up my alley. The BBQ sauce is great too, not what I would normally like, it is more of a tomato base and I generally go for the sweeter sauces, but I smother the ribs with it. They have a limited menu, but I'm not sure why you would go and get anything but the ribs anyway.

Well-smoked, tender ribs, but they don't remove the silverskin (wtf?). About $18 a slab. Sodas sold by the can. Not really a great experience.
