Charcuterie was epic! And premium wells topped it off for happy hour. Worth a try, or 10 if you're in the area. Or...make a trip downtown to support local businesses!

Great experience again. Tried the Italian meat platter....awesome. plenty for 3-4 ppl. Great variety of meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. Can't wait to go back and try another meat tray.

I just love the sandwiches at this place...especially the Venezuelan pulled pork. Staff is friendly. They have a good choice of beers. The rustic atmosphere is simple but inviting. I think of this as a "clean, well-lighted place." Where I can relax and enjoy some simple pleasures...or have a good time with friends.

I travel to Wichita several times a year and found this little gem via Yelp. Great sandwich (Venezuelan) with extremely tender pork. I got it to go so everything was on the side. If not, I could see the sandwich being a little soggy but still delicious. Overheard from the bartender that the meats are cyclical and always changing. Cool atmosphere and great food will keep me coming back next time I am in town.

Great food and drink along with a great atmosphere to catch up with old friends or to just have a great conversation with someone special.

I don't give a lot of fives. My visit started with a sign that said Closed Private Event. A nice lady named Sherri explained what was up and that I should come back another time. Since I'm from out of town she saw me looking for another spot on my phone. She hollered at me to come on up and she would get me seated anyway, which she did. How awesome is that!? I had the deviled egg and charcuterie, both were great. Also the Buffalo Sweat for brew, that's a nice brew. Josh provided great service and Sherri checked up on me. What a great experience I won't forget and I'll be back!

It's not easy for Lou's. Back when it used to be Walker's Bar, the business shared a kitchen with Jetty's, the restaurant next door. Even then the arrangement was tricky because you have this one really big space and this one kinda cramped space. Since both businesses closed last year, the two spaces have been separated, so the Hungry Heart is a little small but has the kitchen while Lou's has a lot of space but has had to build their own kitchen from scratch in a corner in the back. Lou's deserves recognition for their ingenuity and working within their limitations to build Wichita's first charcuteria. Now, this isn't Eataly or anything, but the selection of meats, cheeses, and accouterments are intelligently selected and beautifully presented, so even if a board costs around $20, it can go a long way between a couple of people. The Home on the Range board had buffalo, venison, pheasant, and duck sausage. I was surprised to find how good each of them could be, and it was a fun to take my time sampling various combinations of meat with marinated peppers, olives, sauerkraut, and local cheese. As you can see from some of the photos, the sandwiches are comically large. You get overloaded on meat, and it actually throws off the balance a little bit - I ordered the Venezuelan pork sandwich, and while the pork was super tender and juicy, it was pretty one-dimensional. Getting a bite of it with the chimichurri and cojita cheese it came with brought the sandwich into focus, but there was so much meat that the cheese and chimichurri ran out long before the rest of the sandwich. There's a handful of tapas, too. Spending a couple of bucks to try the pickled deviled eggs was a good move - the velvety filling inside the boiled egg was already better than the family gatherings of my youth, but it was topped with a piece of sausage, onion, and pepper. It was another reminder how much Lou's could surprise me. The last challenge Lou's has to overcome is the location. The place gets overwhelmed during Intrust events, but on normal days you'd be lucky to find more than a handful of people in there. It's like Wichita completely forgets they exist. It's a shame, because Lou's has some of the most surprisingly delightful food in the city, and more people need to try it for themselves.

A little difficult to find but TOTALLY worth the hunt. Fantastic staff and bartender way cool menu with quality cured meats cheeses and pickled items. I came by myself Dat at the bar with a friendly bartender willing to share the history and high points of the menu. I ordered for just myself and they modified the menu and portions for a single person. This is the kind of ersonal care and service you have been looking for! I hear this place gets crazy on band nights. This place is awesome and is ready to flex to take the best care of their customers. Do yourself a favor.......Be here! Busy or slow cool place to hang!

Great food and atmosphere, questionable management. We arrived at 5:45 before a large concert and the place was packed. We didn't get seated till 7:15 and eat till 7:30. The food was great, I had the porchetta sandwich. Everyone else in our group had great meals too. The atmosphere was really cool, with high wood ceilings, weathered wooden tables and floors. The terrible wait times was due to not having enough employees. Management should understand that a big concert will bring in a lot of people and more help is needed. A lot of people didn't eat and left after waiting for an hour without updates. Bills and orders were all over the place. Luckily the bar staff helped us out and brought us drinks and food, they saved the night. The employees did what they could with what they were given, the management could of spent the extra $$$ to not throw their customers and staff under the bus. Everyone there were working their asses off. Sell out concerts shouldn't sneak up on anyone so their isn't any excuses. With so many people coming in from out of town, including us, it sucks this place didn't bring their A game.

Second time to Lou's and I was just as happy as the first. I had the Two Salami Panini this time which was amazing. Two for two Lou's! Stop by if you have the chance, it's worth every penny.

Great new place for Wichita and close to Arena. Menu is little small but nice to be able to create your own cheese and meat platter. Great place for a date or a double date!

This place is a hidden jem! located by the arena just to the east! Plenty of parking. Outdoor patio area perfect for this coming spring. I love the atmosphere and the staff is wonderful. Amazing taste creations from Venezuela! Perfect for large groups and fast enough to visit on lunch! I would recommend to all my friends.

We were really looking forward to some pre-concert charcuterie and drinks before heading to see Fleetwood Mac at IBA. Six in our group and expecting a crowd reservations were made in advanace for 6:15 and we arrived 5 minutes ahead of our reservation. The place was already packed with a wait list. No problem, the hostess and who we would learn later was actually the manager, quickly escorted us to our reserved table and while we waited for the other 4 in our group to arrive. A server quickly greeted us and requested to take our drink order and we quickly obliged. So, it's 6:15 and 5 minutes later the rest of our party arrives and takes a seat. Our server returns a few minutes later, without the initial drink order and to take drink orders for the rest of the party. We let her know that we're going to the Fleetwood Mac concert but also wanted something to eat and she then informs us there is no Charcuterie being served tonight, only sandwiches. Wha, wait a minute, what's the name of this restaurant again? Yeah, you might want to consider a name change. We went ahead and placed orders for 6 sandwiches. Fast forward 20 minutes, no drinks, not even water. The server returns and apologizes and throws the bartenders under the bus and tells us that she would go behind the bar herself if she was able to and to fill our drink order. Another 10 minutes speeds by and we've now been at our table 40 minutes with nothing having been served to us and now the server is avoiding us like the plague as we are likely visibly very pissed off. One of our group leaves the table to seek out the manager and which leads her to the "hostess". She rushes through a half-hearted apology and proceeds to take our drink order, as if she couldn't trust the server who had already taken our order. We let her know of the servers comment about not having the ability to go behind the bar and make our drinks, and she said that simply wasn't true. Seems this throwing under the bus stuff is standard teamwork at Lou's. Another 10 minutes roll by and the manager/hostess brings the drinks. I appreciate the attempt but if you don't know that a lime garnish is standard on a Gin and Tonic as well as serving a slice with a bottle of Corona, you probably don't know much about bartending. Given that it was now past 7 and we still had to queue at the entrance to Intrust we quickly downed our drinks and requested the check. Have expecting the hostess/manager to comp the drinks, instead she just handed off my credit card to our server. Who then did nothing with it. So another 5 minutes go by and when the server next walks by our table I ask about the check for our drinks, and it's obvious now based on the look on her face that she didn't even know from where the credit card came from that the manager/hostess handed off to her. This was absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had, and so much so that there will be no second chances. Good luck Lou's, as I suspect you'll need all the luck you can get!

Do not go here on a night where there is a performance at the Intrust Bank Arena next door, even with a reservation! They were grossly understaffed, and although the staff there were obviously working their collective asses off, not a single one addressed us, even after the place completely cleared out at 8pm. We saw parties (even a couple of groups who had already been seated at tables) leave because they still had not been approached with a menu much less drinks for 20 minutes or more. Some of these groups even had reservations and still did not get served. The bar staff placed our order for us (even though we weren't seated at the bar) and delivered to our table. They were helpful and apologetic. Something I expected from the regular wait staff, but alas did not even receive eye contact, even when the number of people in the restaurant had dwindled to about 8. In fact, we never had wait staff come to our table until someone grabbed our plates as we were leaving. We were there a total of 3 hours--2 to be seated and 1 to place, receive and eat our meal. Luckily, the food was very good. I had the pastrami sandwich. We also had the Sopretta salami and goat cheese appetizer, which was lovely. And the place has great ambiance. I do feel sorry for the staff. But the smallest gesture or acknowledgment from them would have made a big difference in how I felt as my party left. Given the other great food options in the area, I don't know that l'll be back, even on a quiet night.

This is an wonderful place to eat an amazing sandwich, sample cheeses and fresh meats and have a beer. You could sit here for hours and visit with friends, or go here for date night. This place has a great atmosphere and awesome food. The menu is not that big, but I have been here twice and have never had anything I did not like. I have been able to try food which I've never had before. The staff is knowledgeable and will take the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions. It's a great locally owned restaurant.I spoke with the owners and they have awesome knowledge. The only down side is the location. It is directly north of Intrust arena - like in the same parking lot - but once you know who to get here, I'm sure you will frequent the establishment!

The location is perfect, place looks great and the food was fantastic. The service however was EXTREMELY slow. Apparently a very small kitchen with a very small kitchen staff, making it impossible to serve much of a crowd in any reasonable amount of time. Will try it again, but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't last unless they improve management/operations i.e. service and efficiency!
