This was a great find. We were here at lunch and the service was pretty quick. I had the chicken tenders, fries and fried mac and cheese. All were fresh and cooked perfectly. The others in my party had a cat fish po boy and 3 pic mix of dark and white fried chicken. All said it was the best they have had in Wichita. The prices are very fair, I would rather spend an extra $1 or 2 here than go to any other chicken place. I was stuffed when I left, but wish I would have had room for the fried ice cream.

First time eating from here and man is it delicious. Bought 10 tenders thinking they'd be small and that's why they were only $10. Nope. I had to share with my friend. He got the chicken and waffles and said it was also good. I also had a small order of fried mac and cheese. Can't believe it's so cheap. My new goto place for fried chicken.

I'm pretty happy that my wife and I decided to spend our date night getting the comfort food from the nice little place. Dont let the hole in the wall appearance fool you, the chicken and waffles was superbly awesome as the chicken strips were fresh and cooked perfectly and the waffle was light and delicious. My wife, being the sweetheart that she is, decided to be a cheap date and got the catfish and butterfly shrimp combo. The catfish was cooked very well and the butterfly shrimp was on point. And the cream of the crop was the large order of corn nuggets, they were a perfect addition to the beauty that was my cheap date.

I ordered the Chicken Tenders and Waffle. The waffle was light, airy and had a mixture of sweet spices however, the chicken lacked seasoning, but was cooked well. Everything was made to order which I appreciate, just because it's hot and fresh! The spicy ranch was delicious, all 6 our us raved about it. Tried another friends shaved ice, it was pretty good. Tasted homemade and not overly sweet. This place is pretty popular, many to go orders. I feel that some orders get mixed up just because of the overwhelming number of them placed. I'm excited to go back and try some of the other items on the menu. The place is small with about 8 tables. The place was extremely warm and had no central air conditioning, made it a bit uncomfortable to dine in. Staff is friendly. I know how hard small family own restaurants are, but they seem to be doing very well.

I ordered chicken and waffles and chicken gizzards, and fried brownie bites. The chicken gizzards were chewy, but flavor was good .. Waffles were amazing, fried chicken was hot and good. Owners were friendly, place was small but food came after 10 mins, very hot so made it good.

This place is awesome. Healthy it ain't but when you're in the mood for fried chicken, this is the place. I had the tenders with mashed potatoes and a two piece dark. It's how fried chicken should taste. Greasy and good. Their shaved ice is really good, too.

Tasty- but not exciting. We ordered the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. We also ordered the fried mac and cheese and corn balls. This chicken was good simply because there was no old oil after taste like other chicken joints.. I however wasn't impressed with any specific flavor or anything..prices were also not the lowest due to the fact that you has to purchase the sides separately. The inside of this place is very small as well. sketchy part of town. will i return? Possibly to try the seafood. Not much to say about this place.

Been here several times and love it. Not very expensive at all I would recommend it to anyone who visits town or just low on cash.

Huge portions! Everything there is cheap for very good quality food. I had the fried gizzards and it was nice and crispy. Will definitely come back when I'm back in Kansas!

The food really did live up to its name... Krispys. You get a lot for your money. One of the best chicken tenders I have tasted. The fried gizzards could use a little salt. But that's just me eating too salty again.

Excellent chicken! We had to wait 20 minutes for a new batch of chicken and it was definitely worth it. Chicken is juicy with a light crunchy batter The hot wings are just that HOT and great.

Great food at a great and very reasonable price. First and foremost, Taiwanese shaved ice! Can't get that anywhere else in Wichita! I'm from Florida and Krispy's is a must go whenever I am in town visiting family. You will not disappointed. Family friendly atmosphere. Can't wait until next time I'm in town.

Been there twice. First time I had the chicken tenders which were large, very moist, and the outside was "krispy." The 2nd time I got the butterfly shrimp which were a really nice size but maybe just a little bit overdone. The only thing I can ding Krispy's for is the inside of their restaurant smells a little sour (transfers to your clothing) which I believe is due to their ventilation system over their fryers needing to be cleaned or serviced...

Although I've paid for $25 plates of fried chicken, its origin and ability to thrive is firmly situated in much less expensive sides of the economy. Chicken, seasoning, flour, oil, mouth - it's not a hard recipe, though Wichita can't seem to hold on to a quick-service fried chicken restaurant. You can find the pan-fried chicken of the historical Midwest at places like Stroud's and Neighbors, but simply good cheap fried chicken is difficult to find. Perhaps it starts with the right location - buried deep amid the low-rent neighborhood of south Hillside, where you can find some of the city's best Thai, Lao, and Vietnamese food, as easy a walk for the surrounding denizens as it is a quick drive for the workers of McConnell and Boeing. Everyone likes fried chicken, and the mishmash of blue and white collars waiting for their orders at Krispy's is a testament to this. It helps that the prices are even cheaper than you might expect. The chicken is only a couple of bucks, with mounds of fried okra, sweet potato fries, fried macaroni and cheese, and jalapeno poppers added for only a few dollars more. That these accouterments are the generic frozen kind is inconsequential with how little they're charging. As long as they're fried well. Given how much of the menu uses the fryers, it's taken little time for Krispy's to get adept at producing a satisfyingly crispy piece of chicken that stays true to their name. Actually, crunchy might be a better descriptor - thick, craggy, crunchy pieces of chicken that satisfy the soul. The batter isn't very seasoned, but there's some on the chicken itself - particularly in the hot wings, which are non-traditionally coated in a Thai chile paste before getting battered and fried. While it would have been nice to see some traditional hot sauce or cayenne make its way into the batter too, the chile paste serves as a successful twist that certainly brings the heat. While Krispy's is adept at the fryer, the waffle iron could still use some practice. The waffle was fluffy and plenty tasty even without syrup, but I like my waffles as crispy as I like my chicken. Regardless, the combination of the soft and slightly sweet waffle with the crispy and spicy chicken was a testament to why the combination works so well. You're probably not going to feel very good about the amount of fried food you eat after your visit to Krispy's but you're definitely going to feel satisfied.

One of the best places to get fried chicken in Wichita. I come here at least once every week (no exaggeration)! I typically just order the fried chicken by itself. Their shaved ice is also refreshing. Its not too sweet. I recommend the sweet milk flavor and green tea flavor.

Best fried chicken ever, not greasy at all. Hot wings are super spicy but if you like heat they are perfect for you. I love the fried okra, so yummy. Fried pork chops are so good as well. Everything here is bomb.com . and super cheap. I got chicken and waffles, 3pc mixed chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes and shrimp for 17$ can't go wrong for a fast yummy dinner or lunch or anything mmmm lol

If you haven't had shaved iced here you're missing out. The taro shaved iced is my favorite. Do yourself a favor and get you some!

Specializes in chicken and waffles but also servers several fried goodies such as fried mac and cheese, okra, gizzard, jalapeño poppers, and corn nuggets. I had the fried Okra and mac and cheese to start off. Both were cooked fresh to order but felt the okra was a bit under seasoned. Next up was the main show...chicken and waffles...and this was truly delightful. The chicken was clearly cooked to order and was hot and fresh. The chicken tasted very fresh with the right balance of breading and was not overly greasy either. Now what really set this meal apart from anything in Wichita was the waffle. As I was told later by our cashier, they create their own home made waffle batter. The waffle had the right balance of not being overly sweet but enough that syrup was not even needed. Finally the staff had a nice family feel to it and the restaurant was very clean. Their prices were a great value as my 3 piece chicken and waffle was only 5.50! Great new place for Wichita.

I do NOT understand the hype on this place. It is just not that good. The chicken was bland, too greasy, and had a bad aftertaste-- likely stale frying oil. We also had the chicken fried steak which was better and a good value for the money. It was not the best chicken fried steak I've had in town, but it was pretty good.

This place is very good. 5 stars. You get more than you pay for here! I had chicken fried steak, my kids had fried chicken, chicken tenders, and shrimp. We all loved it!

I really like this place. Its clean and the food is always fresh. The prices are really decent too. The people that work here are always friendly and pleasant. Wish they weren't so far away but it's worth driving for. The gizzards were the best! The fish and chicken are really good. Haven't tried anything else yet.

I have traveled all over the place and have lived in the south, Krispy's is the BEST fried chicken I have ever had. Super moist, very flavorful, and crispy. Staff is is friendly, professional, and very nice. Food is inexpensive. Odd location that doesn't show up on some GPS's. They only have 6 tables for eat-in but do a booming take-out.

With all the positive reviews, we were really looking forward to lunch at Krispy's. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I had the 3 piece Chicken and Waffle while my husband opted for he 9 pc Butterfly Shrimp dinner. We ordered an appetizer of gizzards. When the gizzards arrived they were definitely cooked fresh. OVERCOOKED! The breading is quite good but we could barely bite the gizzards themselves. The shrimp were quite good and cooked fresh. His side salad was barely more than a cup of lettuce. His fries were OK for fried frozen. My waffle was hot and fresh and quite tasty. The chicken, however, had been under heat lamps and while moist and very good, it wasn't as hot as I would have liked. Garlic is prevalent in the breading. No free refills on drinks. Plastic utensils. We will go again but I won't be expecting anything special. Overall, good and worthy of another trip. If you like gizzards go to Neighbors!!

Hands down best fried chicken, it is very fresh, crispy, hot & by far delicious. The fried catfish is just as good, actually the best in KS hands down beats that other joint. Catfish doesn't have that fishy taste & its not mushy, over fried & under season like other places I have been to & never returned too. Krispy's is now my go to for fried chicken, fried catfish, chicken & waffles a bonus for me is they also have fried Mac& cheese & fried ice cream!! Yes everything just tastes better fried . Do not get frustrated if there's a short wait since they are most the time very busy, believe me it is worth your time to wait. The place itself is very small but cozy. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Staff is very friendly & keeps it real. Finally a place to get delicious food for a good price in KS!! ¯\_( ° °)_/¯

Well, the wife and I finally decided to see what all of the hype was about, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food tasted fresh, the place was clean and the service was great. It was very reasonably priced and definitely worth visiting again. Krispy's has an Interesting assortment of fried side items, they also serve catfish. pork chops, Po Boy sandwiches, shrimp, etc. The specialty is the fried chicken, and you can also have chicken and waffles. Best part was we ordered a two-piece chicken, a 3 piece chicken, two small sides of mashed potatoes, a small side of fried okra and two medium drinks for less than $15! Worth the drive to 31st South and Hillside.

I enjoyed eating here with my better half. Portions were large. I had the Shrimp Po Boy delicious. Brownie bites for dessert. 6 to an order so make sure you have someone to share with as they are very sweet.

A coworker recommended this place and my wife and I decided to give it a shot. Appearance is very clean and the smell of fried chicken hits you as you walk in. We both had the chicken and waffles and had a side of corn nuggets. The only detractor was the sides as they were frozen and pre-made. But the star of the show was the chicken and waffles. The waffle was light and full of flavor. Didn't need much syrup. The chicken was fried perfectly and seasoned just right. The price made it even better. I'm recommending this place for sure but skip the sides and enjoy the rest of the menu.

Chicken was juicy but lacked flavor. Mashed potatoes were a bad batch of instant, not good at all. Fried mac n cheese was ok. I wouldn't go back, not worth the money.

I just recently discovered this little place and it is by far my favorite for fish and shrimp! The inside is very clean and it never takes long to get your food wether it's for there or to go! Their fried catfish is never greasey and always meaty! Another thing I like is they have a decent amount of side item choices (unlike most fish places here I.e. WingsNThings)..... My sons favorite is CHICKEN & WAFFLES!!! The waffles are always fresh and hot! It is perfect for a quick lunch or even a late dinner!! Its recently cheap too!!!... Get the FRIED ICE CREAM for a sweet treat to share!

I was so excited when this was going up, and was very pleased at the quality of the food. It's all very fresh and we'll prepared. If you're a fan of true southern food, you've got to stop here. everything from the chicken to the fries to corn nuggets, potatoes, all tasted excellent! They took a little long getting my order ready so they waited a few days later, called me and told me to come pick up a meal on them! Even remembered my name and saved my phone number. Never had that happen anywhere. I'm a fan for sure!
