The food is always fresh and quick! It's half the price of other hibachi places too! Overall the place is clean and there's plenty of seating area with TV's.

I've been coming here every once in awhile for about a year now; figured I should finally leave a review. It's a faster-food restaurant; that is, if you come in and order they actually have to cook your food. The price range is comparable to Panera Bread/Chipotle (~$10 as of this posting, that includes drink), which I think is fine if you're looking for some quick Asian food that hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp all day *pandaexpresscoughcough* Alright, the actual food; I haven't tried everything on their menu, but I'm particular to their Teriyaki Chicken. Unfortunately they use chicken breast instead of thigh, which means the chicken itself isn't the best--on the other hand the mushrooms and teriyaki sauce save the dish, and when the rice is fried perfectly, with a slightly crunchy texture, it's great enough to just eat by itself anyways. I've tried mimicking their teriyaki sauce on my own unsuccessfully, it seems to be heavier on mirin/sugar or maybe even ginger over soy sauce. Not sure, I'm too lazy to experiment anyways. In any case, if you're looking for a quick Asian food fix that's actually cooked to order then definitely stop by Emperor's if you're in the area.

Great food, great value! Skip the overpriced hibachi grill down the street and bring the family in for a treat. Great lunch specials

No one is under any pretense that Emperor's is anything but fast food. In fact, the food it offers is so similar to that of the fast food Chinese restaurants around town that you might have felt inclined to ask what the difference is if it didn't make you sound a little racist. And though the differences between cooking in a wok and cooking on a hibachi are largely superficial, no purportedly Japanese grill should have sweet and sour chicken or "General Chicken" or lo mein noodles or crab rangoon. Really, Emperor's is all about the same type of loosely-defined Asian food that many people are already comfortable with eating - throw some protein, rice, and veggies on to the grill, add some sauce, and saute until done. It's not really very Japanese, but it's good enough and cheap enough that we don't really care.

Went there because of a previous review about their fried rice and decided to try it out. It was very underwhelming. The restaurant is basically a subpar fast food restaurant with a flat top. Nothing Japanese about it. The only good thing about it is that it is cheap. The fried rice has very little vegetable in it. It is mostly a large quantity of salty rice mixed with large chunks of chicken. The rice seemed to be over cooked and very soft. The only flavor it has is soy sauce. If you like to stuff yourself with cheap, salty, and over cooked food. This may be the perfect place for you. It is just not my thing.

The crabragoon is wonderful and the fried rice is excellent best asian food place ever. (Just saw this and realized it was written by my 11 yr old son who loves this place! )

i will start off my saying this is my first yelp review and i just had to do it because of my lack of appreciation for this sub par establishment... in wichita kansas i came here because it reminded me of another japanese grill that i did like. i ordered the brocolli chicken breast/no sauce.. and it was sufficient enough to go back again reason being there are not many places i can find to get a (semi) clean piece of protein with extra vegetables. now, i came back the next day and ordered the same thing with scallops this time. the service was horrible. it seemed as if they only hired people from high school, unprofessional and uncourteous when i had an issue with my order, they fixed it i suppose but as they prepared it whispered and giggled behind my back so much so that i stood near the counter hoping those "kids" wouldnt spit in my food! they had no steamed rice over an hour before closing, my vegetables looked wilted (since there was no white rice i ordered all veggies) and it only had a couple tiny scallops in the whole tray! definately not worth the over $9 i paid. i told them i came in yesterday and ordered the chicken, and got a better cleaner portion. could i just have that? i did not expect what they gave me... they just took it and threw it in the trash can without paying much attention to my sincerity.. but all in all, it was my first meal of the day and i just wanted a good clean meal... there was even a guy who came from the kitchen just to peer at me as they giggled. i didn't even bother to see what they handed me as i left. definately, just because of the service... i will never go back again.

Hibachi chicken was ok. Restaurant itself was nasty, the place had a horrible smell, glad I got take out. Wouldn't want to eat there. Does no one in Wichita have "white sauce"?

Prepare yourself for the ultimate food coma. No, not the "I think I might have had a little too much" lethargy. I'm talking about the full on "Why did I eat so much?!," almost immediate nap, type of food coma. Often, it's referred to as the "itis." Some may consider that a bad thing, but I'd say any food that pushes you past your own eating threshold must be pretty darn good. You might be asking me rhetorically, "Wait a second, Kent. If it's that good, why didn't you give it 5 stars?" Well, it's only because I come here specifically for the fried rice. I can honestly say that I haven't really tried anything else on the menu but just that. I'm sure the other dishes are just as good, but my friend, it's all about the fried rice. So, here's the scoop: Every day from 2 - 4, Emperors holds a chicken fried rice special where you get a box jam-packed full of this goodness for $4. What's that? Fried rice makes you thirsty? Well, no worries there. There's also a drink in this combo. Personally, I like to to a 2:1 ratio of sweet to regular tea, but whatever floats your boat, captain. Need some spice in your life? They can and will oblige! You may be wondering why anyone would write a review based on fried rice alone. Well, let me tell you, I'm what I consider a fried rice snob...or expert, whichever one you'd prefer to call me. Fried rice isn't just a pile of rice, peas, carrots, and random meat stir fried with soy sauce. No no, Kemosabe. The rice must have a texture that is not too mushy (overcooked) nor too hard (undercooked). The ratio of peas and carrots (I really don't care for these, as they're not...really supposed even be around this dish) to the actual rice must be low. Because seriously, who wants to eat a box of peas and carrots? Not this guy. Lastly, the harmony and balance of flavors must come together well. It cannot be too salty from a heavy handed pour of soy sauce, and yet, if you don't put enough, there'll be no flavor. Do I sound crazy? Maybe. Or maybe, I'm just really passionate about fried rice. I'll let you make that decision. Simply put, Emperor's makes a fried rice that lives up to my high standards at a low cost. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious. Free drink with any meal, large portions. Fried rice is well cooked and compliments their entrees perfectly. I would recommend the hibachi steak or shrimp. I tried a side order of their sweet and sour chicken and now I am a believer. Sauces for days. Mustard for my shrimp and veggies, ginger sauce for my steak, chili garlic sauce for my fried rice and sweet and sour sauce for my rangoons.

OK place for lunch but I've had better. I had the Shrimp and steak dinner which was pretty good except the fried rice was mush (over cooked.) Would try them again if I was in the area...

The the east side sucks! The restaurant is sticky and greasy and you can smell it. They have supplies and other items sitting out in the open, unorganized, messy and cluttered. To make it worse, the employees are lethargic and rude. The three times I've been here they have forgotten my order and instead of owning up to the mistake they make excuses. This time I was in here, my food was overcooked.

Best low price Asian food in the city - crab Rangoon and fried rice are awesome!

Some people like to steer clear of the label "fast food" and would rather say "you get your food fast, but we aren't fast food." This place is one of those places. Don't get me wrong I do like some fast food, but lets not kid ourselves. The dining area is huge and very clean. Some cliche's are scattered about, but I don't expect to see a wagon wheel or a moose head as decor in a Japanese style restaurant. The service is fast food style, as in no wait staff, but they bring your order to you. And it will probably come quickly. Their fried rice is pretty decent and the egg rolls are satisfactory, but there is not really anything to drool over. The prices are moderately reasonable and if you are looking for an oriental fix with not alot of time to spare, you might want to give this place a try. It is better than McDonalds, if someone asked me where they could find a good fast food joint (around central and greenwich)
