Relatively quiet. Inexpensive. Quick service. Lots of choices and a variety combinations. Little wait time.

My family are Chile Relleno fans. We try rellenos all over the nation. I judge rellenos compared to Cholitas. Nice big poblano peppers , White cheese, and a unique gravy sauce. On 12/31/14 we rated the Rellenos. 3 people giving critique. 9.8 9.7 9.8. They were fresh, cooked properly, sauce was excellent, Beans were almost perfect. Chips and hot sauce were good,

The service was friendly and quick. However, the food is on the wrong side of "just okay" for the price. Hot salsa was pretty hot, but didn't seem much more than seasoned tomato sauce. I had two tacos with rice and a side of guacamole. It's not that it was bad, per se - it just lacked any kind of pizzazz. I honestly would have rather gone to Taco Bell (which is right next door) where there is more flavorful food for half the price, and that's just kinda sad.

I love this place! Not sure why it has so few stars. Go on Wednesday and get any order of enchiladas for $5.59...chorizo is my favorite!

Avoid chicken, just boiled no flavor, a joke of my favorite, rellenos, like most places you can find a hidden gem here it's their kitchen sauce, like everything here it cost you more but if you like salsa or want to put flavor on their boring fare get it for .99 it will make your meal will let's say their Monterey with hot pork pretty good, and believe me that's about all that's good here, Unless you like old El Paso Walmart meals with tomato salsas, try it u will find something you like but a hint if you get any kind of cheese enchallada eat it first before it sets into a American cheese block

One of my favorite authentic Mexican restaurants. Great variety, great prices and great service. Ask for some kitchen sauce for chips and to put on your meal.

This is what I get for moving to Kansas... Ugh.. Disgusting! Let us begin.. The chips - Nasty.. they tasted like taquitos..If i wanted taquitos i wouldve ordered them.. The salsas they put out were ridiculously sub par.. The "mild" one tasted like mexican seasoned tomato sauce and the "hot" one tasted like mexican seasoned louisiana hot sauce.. I ordered the lunch special bc it was the only thing that wasnt over priced.. Gross.. It was maybe 1/4 of a chicken breast (boiled, unseasoned and shredded) , a couple tablespoons of pinto beans (they were actually pretty good, wouldve been nice to have more) a crap load of lettuce (to the top of the tortilla shell), like 6 measly pieces of tomato on top, with some american cheese (im talking Kraft singles, shredded).. Umm NO! I shouldve listen to the yelp reviews.. I only gave this place a star bc of the server.. Oh Toto, we're not in Cali anymore!

Our family has dined here on multiple occasions. The quality of food from one visit to the next is horribly inconsistent. One time it will be OK, chips fresh, food tasting fairly decent, and service good - then the next visit, the chips will smell like old grease, the food (specifically the pork burrito) will be horrible mess of slimy beans and we will be looking around for our waiter needing a refill of our drinks. It is definitely a crap shoot on whether the food will be good or not. Because of this I recommend going somewhere else.

Tried this again with no change in opinion. My boyfriend is always bugging about going here and after today I DON'T KNOW WHY!! This time I got the #5, burrito, enchilada and flour taco. The burrito was smothered in some kind of (I'm guessing) chicken type of "gravy", the inside of the burrito was filled with that and beans. I didn't and still don't see any mention of this on menu. Anyhow, not to bore anyone with my unsatisfactory meal... I won't being going back regardless the pressure and how much my man likes it. There are WAY better mexican resraunts out there.

It had been probably 10 years since we've eaten here, but a New Year's resolution to eat someplace "different" and a family outing to go book shopping out west put Cholita's on the menu. It's a small and comfortable "family" restaurant with many of the same Wichita-local favorites, including Monterreys, flautas, a selection of combo dinners (specially-priced at $7.59 on Saturdays), and a number of al a carte items. The tortilla chips were crisp and sturdy, all the better to scoop up the salsa, the standard pureed tomato sauce found in most family-owned restaurants. The hot was just right, the mild...meh, it's mild. Our two combination dinners were large (a taco, tostada and cheese enchilada on one, flour taco, pork burrito and beef enchilada on the other), and tasty. There was much exchanging of bites back and forth across the table top. Only quibble - neglectful service. The waiter checked to see how we were doing while eating the chips and sauce, he brought our food, and then we didn't see him for a menu-promised "free refill on soft drinks" By the time he brought our check, the food was gone, our glasses were empty. It just seems to me, in a restaurant that's only serving 3-4 tables of customers, they'd be able to get back and check on them at least once DURING the meal. We'll likely return at some point, despite the lapse in service, because the food's good, plentiful and reasonably-priced.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
