I'm finding that the better bakeries in town have a hook. With Twitzed Confections, it's the baklava. Bliss-fulness has their rubelach. Cheri's doesn't have the impossible-to-spell name as the other guys, but they have their own feather in their cap with their whoopie pies. The cream filling in said pies may be more than reminiscent to the Little Debbie versions, but the difference is made by the soft and moist chocolate cakes that sandwich it. Your mileage may vary with some of the other unique sweets on offer. Red Velvet "bites" - little rounds of cake topped with a swirl of frosting are a cheap and pleasant way to satisfy a sweet tooth. The strawberry cheesecake brownie and banana cake square, on the other hand, were more similar in construction than you may have expected due to each topped with the same thick layer of cream cheese frosting. For as much as J Raes struggled finding the balance between a malleable cookie frosting and one that didn't contain enough gelatin to render it the texture of Play-Doh, Cheri's shows them how its done with an admittedly less complex but very pretty decorative cookies. My sample was of an autumn leaf, and between the clean design and gradient coloring, it was almost too good-looking to eat. There were a few types of cupcakes, if those are still your thing, and the wedding cakes seem like a big part of their business. If they decorate their cakes like they do their cookies, I'm sold, though I should admittedly be focusing my time on finding someone with whom to share the cake before settling on the baker.

I have ordered several birthday cakes from Cheri's and have NEVER been disappointed and ALWAYS am extremely impressed. The cakes are not only delicious, but if you give them some creative freedom and point them in a direction of the general theme for the cake - you get artwork! The last cake I ordered was so beautiful, when I posted pictures on FB, I had numerous people ask where they could get a cake like this. I am not a Wichita resident, however this is a convenient stop when I fly in and drive up the road from the airport to pick up the cake.

I ordered a cake for my friend's shower. I brought in the invitation that was pretty unique since the wedding is on Halloween. They matched up the colors perfectly. The cake looked and tasted great! I will be ordering my future cakes from here:)

So disappointing! I ordered a birthday cake from here and the smash cake is free with the cake order. I had no problem ordering and customer service wasn't bad. The problem was the cake, it tasted like a plain Wal-Mart cake and way too much frosting. The way it was decorated was sort-of cute but the lettering was done in puffy-looking frosting which was hard to read. Definitely not worth the money :(

Pretty & Tasty My favorite bakery in town. They have talented decorates and their cakes are always moist and delicious. Cheri's is willing to work with you on custom flavor combinations to get the cake you like best. (I had a lemon cake filled with raspberry, yum!) My favorite flavors are lemon, strawberry, and their carrot cake. They are my go to bakery when I need a cake for a special occasion.
