Happy hour and dinner with a girlfriend of mine. We were looking for margaritas and were happy with the size, the price, and the strength of the drinks. They complimented the chips and salsa (both of which were delicious, and the queso is suupper) and our meals well. I had some variety of enchilada which had just enough sauce to cover but not drown the plate. The chicken could have used a bit more seasoning but I'm reaching/nit picking there. I liked the rice too. Some places, their rice is dry or overcooked, but this wasn't. I'd return!

Even though Mi Ranchito is close to our home, we only recently made our first visit. I think the location (basically adjacent to an auto repair place) and the history (some crazy mf-er decided to spike the salsa with some kind of toxin once upon a time) combined to keep us away. In hindsight, that was a mistake. I'm not about to declare Mi Ranchito the Champion of All Mexican Restaurants, but it was pretty good. If the food was maybe just a tiny more unique/spicy/awesome, I'd go five stars. But four ain't so bad... Chips and salsa? AOK. The espinacha dip? Pretty darn good. Our entrees? Substantial portions that were above average. Service? Really, really good. The smiling/attentive/polite/efficient kind of service that's way too uncommon. One of our kids left a very precious stuffed animal/life companion behind. We called Mi Ranchito and they had Monkey Dunkey safely put aside. When I came to grab the little fella, they had him right up front, ready for me.

Great place to eat, the wait staff is friendly and always checking to make sure you have plenty on chips and salsa. Defiantly going back to eat here and recommend it to anyone looking for a good Mexican dish with a great atmosphere.

Food here is so good but the thing that bothers me about this place is it's always so so crowded, I feel like I'm crawling over people if I ever leave the table. Crowded is good for business and I understand that, I just like the one on 119th more.

We were seated very quick & got chips & salsa right away. Salsa is very tasty! However, waited a bit long before someone came to take our drink order... Plenty of staff hanging out & talking. Got our meals after about 15 min. Piping hot & looking delish!! The meal I ordered was the Saturday special (guacamole burrito with shrimp veggies & champagne sauce. Comes with rice & beans) Big portions for sure get your $ worth. We will for sure be coming back. Everyone loved their food. Giving a 4 only because I thought it took a little long to get drinks & order.

Great margarita & awesome food. Yelp reviews did not let me down!!

I love the fajitas here. Not the weird ones with mushrooms and broccoli, but the regular "Americanized" version. The steak and chicken are grilled and taste so wonderful. The chips and salsa are always plentiful. I always ask for the hot salsa. Plus, their service is so fast that we usually only get one bowl of chips eaten before our meals come out, so we are actually hungry for our meals! Everyone is always cheerful and helpful. I've never had a bad experience here. Come and eat!

I've only had the fish taco and it's the best I've ever eaten. With chips and salsa, it's more than enough for meal for me. I skip using the dressing that comes with it and just eat it as is...because it's just that good! There is a bad- I tried the salsa verde and I wasn't expecting it to have creamed avocado in it. It wouldn't have been bad, but the avocados weren't ripe which resulted in the salsa being a lot tangy and not good tangy. But the red salsa is great - just wish it was a little bit spicer. Tip: if you don't like the rice and beans that come with the meal, you can order anything on the menu a la carte even though there isn't an a la carte menu.

Every time I come back to visit KC, I HAVE to visit Mi Ranchito and get their sour cream/cream cheese chicken enchiladas. It's like I've died and gone to Mexican food heaven! Never had a complaint with anything I've had here, but I do tend to stick with my standard....if it ain't broke, don't fix it! My kids have tried just about everything on the menu, and never had a complaint. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly (sometimes a little slow, but they're BUSY!) This place can be a little hard to find if you don't know where it is.....right next to an auto repair shop, it doesn't really look like what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. But once you're inside, it's all good. Tip: If you can't find anyplace to park up front by the door, there is extra parking in the back behind the service station.

The best part of our visit to KC. We were staying nearby and decided to give this gem a try. We got there at 7 and the place was packed. Definitely make a reservation on a Saturday night. We were seated on the patio by our request and given great chips and salsa. The avocado salsa was interesting and very good. Different than guacamole. She had the chimichangas and I had an enchilada dish. Both were amazing. The rice perfect. The beans being hands down the best I've had in a long time. Our Mexican back home doesn't even come close. Everything just seemed fresh and bursting with flavor. I'm not sure how they marinade / cook their steak but don't change a thing. Yum. Service was great even though the place was wall to wall people. The inner dinning room is very tight but I attribute that to their success/demand.

Great time, food was piping hot and came out quickly. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Our go to for Mexican food! The menu has quite a variety of choices, the chicken fajitas are a favorite. Had the espinacha dip which is always good. Refills on drinks came quickly and chips were always available. We like coming here because of the consistency of food and service.

We love this place! It's hard to beat a Mexican joint that is next to a tire shop and actually run by Mexicans. Delish!

Being a party of one, I was able to walk in and sit at the bar. They immediately served up tasty chips with their two salsas (regular and avocado). Loved the avocado. Jessica, the margarita-making queen fixed me up a drink that paired well with the pork carnitas tamales. It was more food than I could eat, so now I have a second meal for in the coming days. I had a handsome man, Chris, come in shortly after me and we ended up talking and eating together. That is the fun...discovering new places and friendly faces!!!

It was really good but not as great as I was expecting from reading the other reviews. Service was excellent and I really enjoyed the chips and salsas. The food was extremely similar to Jose Peppers, one of them is copying the other. The atmosphere was more authentic than Jose though, less Tex/Mex.

  • Stephanie P.

Solid Mexican food! Their salsas are awesome! Be sure to ask for the hot and if they don't put it on your table ask for the green Avocado salsa. The chips are thin and crispy and delicious! I've had several of the menu items. Some of my favorites are the Love Burrito, Enchiladas Rancheras, Chile Verde Carnitas, & Chile Rellenos, to name a few. They also have frequent coupons for their Espinaca dip! Which is out of this world!

    (4)
  • Libby G.

We really like this Mexican restaurant. One of the things that's great about it is they often have coupons where you can get free Espinaca dip with your chips. (they come in the ValuPak coupon mailer). They serve giant burritos and most people will take some of them home for the next day.The whole family loves the burrito covered with their dip sauce. However, lately I have been trying new things. I really like their Chili Verde wnchilladas. Also, they have a two dollar small margarita that hits the spot as well. Sometimes I like to sit on their patio even though it is on a pretty busy and noisy street.

I don't know what it is about Kansas restaurants adjacent to service stations. When I stopped here, the first thing I saw was the tire service shop, and on the corner, same building is Mi Ranchito's. I was immediately seated and bought salsa and chips. The salsa wasn't too hot, had a slight cilantro flavor and is possibly the best salsa I've had. The chips, light and delicious. I ordered the grilled shrimp chimichanga which was on special. I only found a couple of shrimp, but I would order it again. It came with a cheese sauce with broccoli. Also was included black beans and a minute scoop of rice. A corn fritter was to the side. I had excellent service and very good food. Couldn't find the coupon people are talking about. This is in an excellent location, just off I-35 before Bass Pro Shop at the next exit. Parking is probably sketchy, there isn't much of it. But I really enjoyed it and will be back. There's tons more things on the menu to try.

$1 Margaritas the month of August! Don't let the plastic "to go" glass fool you! This Margarita packs a punch. Thanks for the tip Amanda O. I made sure that I grabbed my coupon for free Espinaca dip off the internet...and used it right from my phone . Cheesy, delicious, and free! Thanks Chadwick T. Since I was on a roll, I decided to take another suggestion and try the cream cheese chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas are plump with all white meat chicken . And, in case you are wondering, the cream cheese is in the sauce that is slathered over the enchiladas. Along with some sour cream, to create a pleasant tanginess. A couple of slices of fresh avocado, rice, beans, and viola! A meal fit for a hungry lumberjack, but, since I'm not...a lumberjack, that is! I took my leftovers home for a second meal. That's value. If the weather was more temperate, the outdoor patio would be a great place for bringing a group from work for happy hour...AKA the entire month of August for $1 Margaritas! In case you're not in your car yet, driving towards 95th and I 35...there's a Margarita calling your name!

I have been here a couple of times and was blown away by the service especially for a lunch time setting. They were busy but you would never have known because whole staff was attentive and always had fresh chips, salsa or drink which is rare. I am having the cream cheese enchiladas tonight along with the President Margarita and once again I am in love with another entree. There is a couple of these local chain Mexican restaurants and I am satisfied every time and tonight is no exception. You will not regret stopping in one day for lunch or dinner with the family for a great meal.

The chips and salsa saved a two star review for this place. The food I had was an enchilada with some "chicken" in it. It had the most funky texture of any chicken I've ever eaten. I was more the texture of a rubber pencil eraser. Horrible! And it didn't taste anything like chicken. Had I used the loo before I ordered I would have walked out. I've always felt if that area of the restaurant is a dirty pit so is the kitchen. I won't be a return customer.

This is the typical Americanized goofy family focused Mexican restaurant. Not my scene. Chips and salsa were OK. I ordered the chili verde pork burrito. I didn't love it, there wasn't much flavor but the pork was nice and tender. They did hand out balloons for the little amigos!

Best House margaritas in the city. Get the chimichanga and add the cheese dip on top of it. It's amazing. Best endless chips and salsa in the city and it's free can't beat it.

Great thin fresh chips. Great sauce. The tacos were yummy. And the bill was very reasonable. I wish I lived closer than 1,600 miles away. But we come to KC twice a year and will definitely make this a regular stop.

  • Katie L.

Loved this place!! I got the #24 on the lunch menu.. Steak enchilada? It was delicious. I love that the cheese dip isn't super thin like you get at some places, nor does it get colder and too thick to scoop up with your chips. Perfect consistency and very tasty. Service was great, our waiter had a great sense of humor (asking if we would want in or outdoor seating when it was 9 degree outside, hahaha) ... And our wait was not too long for our food. I will definitely return!

We (my wife and I) were driving by and decided to stop for lunch. After the experience, we thought they needed a bad review. We had been there before and it was OK even likeable. It was the service that really put them on our bad list this time. We were seated right away but it took quite a while for anyone to come around after that. They had almost as much staff as customers but they were all standing around and talking. Finally, someone came around with a generous bowl of chip crumbs with a few whole chips thrown on top to look good. Hmmm. Quite some time later, someone else came by to get our drink order. We chose water because we didn't want to sit all day with empty tea glasses. Quite a bit later, they brought the water and took our order. No complaints on the food, just the service. It was horrible. We will probably not return.

Mi Ranchito rarely disappoints. Everything about this location as with the others smacks of deliciousness. From the fresh chips and salsa to great apps like espinaca dip and guac and dinner favorites like fajitas and carne asada, they have the market cornered on great food. This location is a hidden gem off 95th Street in Lenexa. You wouldn't expect to find a restaurant sharing a wall (and parking) with an auto repair shop. It really just looks like part of the garage. The inside, however, is synonymous with other MR locations. Fast & friendly service and fantastic food choices. Drink specials are very good too. House margaritas are reasonably priced and usually pretty stiff. Don't hesitate to check out this funky location soon. They hold the standard high for other MR locations around the city.

So full. So good. Super thin delicate fresh fried tortilla chips. Excellent, albeit mild, salsa. I had the espinaca chicken enchiladas-- so dense and creamy and rich. The hubby had the pork tamales- giant chunks of tender carnitas. Neither of us could actually finish our platter, particular after vacuuming up the chips and salsa. Very busy when we got there, only about a 5 minute wait. The staff was all super friendly and reasonably attentive. My only point of contention on a first visit to this location, and a little how-to for any other newcomers: if you park in the back an go in the side door, you need to head down the corridor in to the restaurant, around the bar to the front door to get seated. It took a couple of wait staff to get us pointed in the right direction. ETA: Since writing this draft, I've been to this location again and to some of the others. It's definitely one of my favorite Tex-Mex places: everything is covered in gooey cheese but it is all so good. The veggie enchiladas, tamales, Taco Tuesday tacos, and black beans are all worth going back for.

A little confused as to why this place has so many 5 star reviews. Maybe we just visited on an off day?? The bad: The salsa was hands down THE worst salsa I've ever been served at a Mexican restaurant. I had the cream cheese chicken enchiladas, and was far from impressed. My husband discovered a strange piece of black plastic in his food. When confronted, the manager offered him more food and dessert...which was just odd. The good: The manager did end up not charging us for my husbands meal...and the margarita I had was pretty darn good. You don't know until you try it. We won't be going back.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. The location itself is fairly humble -- nothing fancy. But it's packed nearly every night and with good reason. The staff is friendly and the service is good, with lots of servers moving around delivering food and drinks. You get chips and salsa (a bowl for each person) nearly as soon as you sit down. Sharing is perfectly acceptable (some places frown on it), and each dish is good for two meals, whether you share it or take it home as leftovers. I'm particularly fond of the mi casa fajitas: mounds of chicken, shrimp, steak, fantastic chorizo, onions, tomatoes and cilantro, served with hot tortillas, beans, rice, salad, guac and a corn cake. They offer numerous combo plates and specials, so it's possible to try a variety of different dishes. My dad loves the fish tacos and the chicken combo plate. The prices are very reasonable for everything you get. We actually ordered one meal to to go last night and were pleasantly surprised to see that they'd included two bags of tortilla chips, salsa and cheese dip, on the house. The food tastes good reheated as well. Nothing has lasted at the 95th Street location for very long before Mi Ranchito moved in. There's a very good reason it's lasted where others haven't!

Mi Ranchito is fast, local and well-known in the neighborrod. You want a quick lunch or a business lunch, here you go. Fresh food, warm welcome, Dos Equis amber draft, chips and salsa sauce as much as you want and ideal plates to have a breeze of Mexico. Knowing the area (i'm working close to that place) it is by far one of the best restaurant there, wahtever you're looking for !

Great mexican/tex mex food. I was a bit surprised as we just wanted something decent and this ended up being much better than anticipated. We had two of their higher end margarita's and they were very good and very large. I had Tacos and they were rally good. My wife had a Pork Mole special that was better than anything we every have gotten in California. The best price, dinner and premium margarita's for under $40.

Little knowledge sometimes very dangerous possession: Great dishonor to Lenexa foolians who can give 4.5 star rating to restaurant formally known to food poison patrons. Man who flirt with dynamite sometime fly with angels. Large portions and cheap prices of poor quality mexican food made for white man ensure fat johnson countians many return visits before heart attack. Could not be more clear if magnified by two hundred inch telescope: only service is worse that food quality. Ancient ancestor once say, "Before dining here, consider alternative of pouring hot nacho cheese sauce in mouth."

One of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. I'm originally from Olathe and frequented the first Mi Ranchito before it expanded with two other restaurants. Now I live in Massachusetts and find myself missing the place to the point of tears quite often. I've never been disappointed in my food. They have a great mix of what I call "authentic mexican" and "What the americans want mexican." If you like your chimi's smothered in white cheese, you got it. If you want tamales like people are rolling out of their kitchens in Sonora, you can have that too. Margaritas are ginormous and very strong. Service can tend to get a little slow during the rush hours and you may wait a while for a table, but everyone works very hard to make your experience a good one. If you are patient with them, they will be patient and attentive with you. All locations put out the same great food! Just don't fill up on chips and salsa :)

  • Karen W.

Just ate there this evening. The food was decent. The amount to split a plate was too high. We were seated on the patio. When our food was brought out, it was brought by a manager. He kept shoving one of the plates onto the table until it hit a salsa bowl which then tipped over, spilling through the wire table. It got all over my purse, my leg and shoe, and my daughter's shoes. We got the mess all cleaned up. I did not ask for anything, but most restaurants would have immediately comped your meal or something, without even being asked! I know the manager apologized and felt bad about it, but still something should have been offered to compensate for the mess.

I have no idea how this place has so many good ratings. Maybe all the "5-star" people have never eaten actual Mexican food before...who knows? For starters, the restaurant was dirty. The table and booth were barely wiped down. Walking past the kitchen we noticed the floor was filthy. To me, cleanliness of a restaurant says a LOT, and this place was definitely not clean. Next: Worst salsa ever. It was basically just tomato sauce. No flavor. No kick. We tried dumping some of the "hot sauce" that was on the table into the bowl of salsa to give it some flavor - no luck. The hot sauce just made the "salsa" taste like vinegar. Our entree was decent. Nothing special. I would not go back based on the cleanliness alone, though.

Oh my god---I am OBSESSED with Mexican food, and Mi Ranchito is literally the BEST Mexican food I have ever eaten. I have tried several Mexican restaurants around the Kansas City area, but none of them even come close to the food at Mi Ranchito. My fiance and I eat there at least once a week as a treat. The staff promptly greets and seats you when you arrive, and they already have chips and salsa in front of you only seconds after you take your seat (which are refilled as many times as you want, without even asking). The food is to die for. My favorite dish is the "cream cheese chicken enchiladas" and also the espinaca dip (it'll change your life, haha). The best part about all this is that you can get free coupons (and they also accept competitor's coupons) for the cheese dip so you never even have to pay for it if you don't want to, AND they have amazing specials on the weekends between 11 and 4. My fiancee and I can usually have chips and salsa, a big bowl of espinaca cheese dip, and both of our entrees for only $11 TOTAL for both of us. It's nuts. AND SO GOOD! You have to eat there if you enjoy Mexican food, at all. :)

I have always been a fan of their carne asada tacos. I recommend them to anyone. Their yellow cheese dip is tasty and their chips are warm and salty- not too salty, just enough. It seems many places don't even bother salting their chips, which is a huge problem for me. The serving plates aren't too hot. A pretty solid place all the way around...

  • Lili F.

This is by far my favorite Tex-Mex place to eat. The chips and salsa alone have me coming back again and again. Everytime my work pals ask me where I want to go I always chime in The Chito!! It helps that it's right around the corner from my work. The fajita con queso enchilada is amazing along with the burrito feliz that could feed 3 people! The service is friendly and it is pretty clean from what I can tell. However all of the locations are on the smaller side and this place is always crowded but definitely worth the wait!

What's not to love? My wife and I LOVE mexican food, Mi Ranchito is the best we've had anywhere. Everything is delicious. It starts with the Best chips and salsa. It usually continues with a free cheese dip (they're very generous with coupons in the mail, etc). By the time you get to the Entree, you're full. But, you eat it anyway, because its SO GOOD. Best anywhere. Give it a try!

Mi Ranchito's is the BEST! Been here about 10 times and loved it every time. THe staff is super hard working and that's what stands out at Mi Ranchitos. Well, the food too. Actually the food is awesome. Cream Cheese Chicken Enchilada's the best! But back to the staff, some restaurants the staff is freindly and they provide you with everything that you need, but here they really move fast to get you what you want in addition to being super friendly. I'm so happy that this place is packed everytime i go here. Obviously it's a sign of HUGE success.

update 6/22/08 still love this place, went back for the crispy tacos and tried the cheese enchiladas. excellent! i found my favorites. i am really glad i decided to take the advice of the reviewers and try Mi Ranchito today. i went in for takeout before 5pm and even then the place was busy, the waitstaff was pleasant and the manager owner was very friendly, and as i was waiting the bartender was singing, that made me smile. i ordered the jalisco chimi and crispy tacos, i am pleased to report excellent crispy deep fried tacos. guacamole chips and salsa, even the rice and beans were tasty. i was really impressed with the tacos and will be returning for that alone, plus really i got a great deal of food for $25. so its good and a good value. since its around the corner just past at I35 and 95th its close enough to return again. and again.

I'm a big fan of this local chain, but I've only recently grabbed carry-out from this location. I had the Mi Casa Fajitas and shrimp tacos. Service, food, and price-points were excellent just like the other locations that I've been to. I've got no complaints and will definitely return.

They go way out of their way here on the service, it's almost annoying but at the same time, it's better than most places who have terrible service. I am a big fan of the food quality, the Yucatan salad is money! The Chicken Espinada Enchiladas are scrumptious as well. And whatever you do, get some food with your queso, you can't live on queso alone. Great salsa, awesome queso great service awesome prices

Holy mexican food. This place is my fave 'cheap' mexican place in town. The little masa portion they have on every plate is intriguing but I've yet to have a bad item from this place. The staff is quick with the food and the drink refills and I haven't had any issues getting a place to sit within a reasonable amount of time. Definitely a favorite spot!

This is our go-to for Tex-Mex. Actually, it's better than Tex-Mex. The servers are friendly and the food is always top-notch. The only complaint is that this location has exactly 2 booths that will hold large parties and really those are only good for groups of 6. There were 8 of us and we squeezed into one and added a chair on the end. It was tight but we're a friendly bunch so we made so. Next time we'll have to go to one of the larger locations like old OP.

Another Mi ranchito. Another 5 stars for consistency, fast service, and awesome food. The sucky part about this location is the seating areas are very tight, and if you don't pay attention to where you are walking you can easily trip since the lighting is not all that. Otherwise, you know what you are getting here.

We eat here a lot. You can always count on great service and food. You are always greeted and usually seated pretty quick. Fri and Sat night you might have a little wait, but it is worth it. The Carne Asada Tacos are amazing and the fajitas are great too. They never let you run out of chips and salsa. The take-out is just as good as the dine-in too. The outdoor seating is perfect on nice days.

Three stars because in spite of everything the food is pretty decent. But the place is dirty and there are service issues. On our last visit the table we were seated at had used silverware left on it from a past customer. My order came out wrong (chicken instead of beef on my La Crema Chimichanga, which isn't even offered with chicken on the menu). When they finally brought out the replacement it didn't have the cream cheese sauce with it. The guy who dropped off our meals dropped them quickly and rushed away, so each time we had to call someone over to explain the problem. I was brought one refill on my pop and even though I confirmed that it was Dr. Pepper moments before, I was brought a diet pop. Which might seem small, but seriously - not one thing right? My husband kindly ignored my pleas to go ahead and eat his and waited for my meal to arrive, which took so long that his meal was cold. Our waitress apologized but never once did we see a manager. There was a pad of comment cards on the table but they were so filthy I didn't want to use them. We did send an email days ago to let them know how unhappy we were...no response.

If you are a Mexican food connoiseur such as myself this is the perfect casual place to eat until you feel like a stuffed pinata and enjoy strong margaritas on the cheap. My co-workers and I frequent this spot and it is hilarious because as lunch time looms we can just look at eachother and in unison say "MiRanchito". Its that kind of comfortable delicious place that can turn a bad day good and a stressfull mindset relaxed. The salsa is homemade and the espinanca dip(white cheese sauce) will have you craving more. Their selection is classic from burritos to chimichangas and there is a perfect, tiny helping of polenta(a sweet cornbread) served on each plate. Try the Sampler platter for alot of different tastes that will definately be at least two meals!!!!! The friendly servers all very efficient and it is the perfect spot for any occasion! Their fried ice cream is splendid, but plan ahead to save room for this traditional Mexican fare.

Mi Ranchito is far and away my favorite Mexican restaurant in KC. Like Oklahoma Joe's before it, this Mi Ranchito location has made a name for itself for seemingly being attached to an auto shop/gas station. The wait to get a table during normal eating hours is killer, so we make an effort to eat here during odd times or when the weather is crappy since it's right down the street. The chips and salsa are good, but no reason to go out of your way. They normally have coupons for free Espinica in those junk coupon mailers you get more often than you'd like. They carry a nice assortment of Mexican beers like most any Mexican restaurant. The food is where Mi Ranchito really stands out. The fajita burrito is a great break from the normal burritos full of beans you get at most cheap Mexican places. The steak is quality, but the mix of peppers and onions is hit and miss. Sometimes I think this is the best burrito I've had, and other times I completely regret ordering it. If you're into burritos full of beans, those are generally good to. They actually do a pretty good job of evening out the burrito contents and the sauce that covers it, so you don't get overloaded on any one thing. But my new favorite menu item has to be the carne asada tacos. I've had them at two of the Mi Ranchito locations, and they were friggin delicious both times. Like the fajita burrito, the steak is grilled nicely and the pico, peppers, cilantro, etc. that fill the rest of the soft tortilla is top notch. It might be my perfect summer meal out on the patio with a Miller Chill or Dos Equis Lager. Speaking of the patio, you may want to save that for one of their other locations since this one pretty much is right on 95th St and down just a tad from I-35. Good if you like to watch people in their cars, bad if you want to enjoy a quiet, summer breeze.

So full.

Great thin fresh chips. Great sauce. The tacos were yummy. And the bill was very reasonable. I wish I lived closer than 1,600 miles away. But we come to KC twice a year and will definitely make this a regular stop.

I'd return!

Food here is so good but the thing that bothers me about this place is it's always so so crowded, I feel like I'm crawling over people if I ever leave the table. Crowded is good for business and I understand that, I just like the one on 119th more.

    (4)
  • Rachel B.

  • Chris D.

Lets be clear here, Mi Ranchito is not a Mexican restaurant. Mi Ranchito is a Tex-Mex restaurant. As someone who eats authentic Mexican food in both a Mexican home and at authentic Mexican restaurants I feel its necessary to be clear on this. It's the same as On the Border, Jose Peppers, and the like; however it is better than those. Delicious yes, Mexican no. Mi Ranchito has all the typical things that Gringos love, enchiladas, burritos, and plenty of (insert fried food covered with cheese). Service is good and the atmosphere is positive. If you want a cheesy meal at a fair price this is a good way to go.

I went and picked up a lunch order for my co-workers today. Everyone loved the food, they had our order ready before I got there, and by the time I got the food back to my office, it was still nice and hot. Delicious food!

I'm a big fan of this local chain, but I've only recently grabbed carry-out from this location. I had the Mi Casa Fajitas and shrimp tacos. Service, food, and price-points were excellent just like the other locations that I've been to. I've got no complaints and will definitely return.

Service Good. Food Good. We had a large party and they accommodated us quickly. Taquitos not the best. Guacamole was good. Above average all in all but not spectacular.

This Napkin Pirate can not express enough about how great Mi Ranchito Mexican restaurant. Me and the other pirates went down there the other night and they have the best salsa I have ever had. Great prices as well. This is a guaranteed napkin pirates hang out now!

Obviously it's a sign of HUGE success.

update 6/22/08 still love this place, went back for the crispy tacos and tried the cheese enchiladas. excellent! i found my favorites. i am really glad i decided to take the advice of the reviewers and try Mi Ranchito today. i went in for takeout before 5pm and even then the place was busy, the waitstaff was pleasant and the manager owner was very friendly, and as i was waiting the bartender was singing, that made me smile. i ordered the jalisco chimi and crispy tacos, i am pleased to report excellent crispy deep fried tacos. guacamole chips and salsa, even the rice and beans were tasty. i was really impressed with the tacos and will be returning for that alone, plus really i got a great deal of food for $25. so its good and a good value. since its around the corner just past at I35 and 95th its close enough to return again. and again.

Food here is so good but the thing that bothers me about this place is it's always so so crowded, I feel like I'm crawling over people if I ever leave the table. Crowded is good for business and I understand that, I just like the one on 119th more.

So full.

  • Joey H.

  • Beth B.

    (4)
  • Rachel B.

    (4)
  • Allison L.

We love mi ranchito at work. Every Wednesday we have take out. They always give us plenty of extra chips and salsa. Nice variety and helpful staff.

Thin but hot chips. Good tacos, bad tamales (too doughy). Great service for our family gathering of 7 adults and 5 kids. Pretty good and fairly authentic Mexican restaurant!

Chips and salsa excellent. Margarita great and the staff exceptional, particularly in managing the number of patrons. Dinner, again, excellent. Definitely will return.

I always get the Steak Fajita Quesadilla - I know its an appetizer, but it's so good and even fills up a big guy like me.

Another Mi ranchito. Another 5 stars for consistency, fast service, and awesome food. The sucky part about this location is the seating areas are very tight, and if you don't pay attention to where you are walking you can easily trip since the lighting is not all that. Otherwise, you know what you are getting here.

I went and picked up a lunch order for my co-workers today. Everyone loved the food, they had our order ready before I got there, and by the time I got the food back to my office, it was still nice and hot. Delicious food!

Obviously it's a sign of HUGE success.

update 6/22/08 still love this place, went back for the crispy tacos and tried the cheese enchiladas. excellent! i found my favorites. i am really glad i decided to take the advice of the reviewers and try Mi Ranchito today. i went in for takeout before 5pm and even then the place was busy, the waitstaff was pleasant and the manager owner was very friendly, and as i was waiting the bartender was singing, that made me smile. i ordered the jalisco chimi and crispy tacos, i am pleased to report excellent crispy deep fried tacos. guacamole chips and salsa, even the rice and beans were tasty. i was really impressed with the tacos and will be returning for that alone, plus really i got a great deal of food for $25. so its good and a good value. since its around the corner just past at I35 and 95th its close enough to return again. and again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
