This place doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside motif isn't anything to write home about either. BUT, the food is amazing. Great food, good size portions, and friendly service. It's not a fast meal because nothing is cooked until you order. So go with the expectation of taking some time to enjoy an excellent meal. Very good food ,run by a kind family who gets to know their regulars.

Best bulgogi I have ever had! The owner is really sweet and gives a true taste of Korean food and hospitality. the building looks a bit ragged but the food will make you very happy!

Classic Korean restaurant near Army post. Pleasantly discombobulated, friendly, and eerily strange. Beef Bulgogi and rice were both excellent. Kimchi was good not great. The absence of barley tea made me sad; the Chinese black tea was a little too Chinese for me. I enjoyed my lunch and I'd certainly stop back here, but I like weird and quirky eats.

After living in Korea for 2 years, our expectations for Korean food are a little high. We read the reviews before going and weren't disappointed. The food was really good and the servings were nice-sized. Don't expect a large space or a cozy atmosphere (it's not a fancy restaurant and probably only seats 25 people max), but if you're looking for good Korean food and need to do a little shopping while you wait, Hyundai is the place to go!!

I was shocked to be the first to add this restaurant to Yelp. It has been around for years! I just want to note that this is more than a restaurant. It is also a Korean market that sells all sorts of goods. We were immediately greeted and sat upon arriving. The first thing I noticed were all the pictures of food on the walls. I actually think that this is neat for people who have never had Korean food before. I decided to stick with my standard Korean dish...Hot Pork Boul Koh Kee... The waitress asked how spicy I wanted it from 1-10, I said 10 and she said, "Are you sure"..well when someone says that, you need to back down a bit. So I went with an 8. I was a bit cared to take my first bite, but it was actually pretty tame. I will go with 10 next time! The meal was quite good and filling. Can't wait to try something new.

Simple setting that focuses solely on the dishes one is about to be served. The walls feature the predominately common dishes of Korea and make it easy for those that have not had this cuisine before or for those that haven't explored beyond bulgogi. The price is fair and the owner is extremely nice. My only complaint would be that the dishes seem to be 'americanized' and one has to request for spice and flavor to be adjusted according to tradition.

Hyundai Restaurant serves the best Korean food in the Kansas City area! The establishment is a little dated but don't let that fool you as "hole in the wall" restaurants normally serve up the best foods. The owner and staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. Well worth the drive!

Great food, friendly staff... I keep going back for the Bibimbap! It's fresh, delicious and fairly priced. Wander in the market while your food is being prepared or chat with the staff, they are quite friendly.

This restaurant is outstanding! Having lived in Korea for many years I can truly say that this restaurant is as close to mothers home cooking as you're going to get. And that's because the Korean woman who owns it does all the cooking like she is cooking for her own family! It's unfortunate that we are leaving the area, but will definitely go back when we return. Definitely recommend!

If you can get in while they're open, you'll love it. Of course it reminds of my childhood since there's an halmuni (grandmother) sitting in the corner. I'm Korean and this food totally reminds me of mom's food. The beef bone soup was definitely cooked for hours on end and so flavorful. My husband loves bulgogi and he loved their version. The pork bulgogi was great as well. I also had the bibimbap one day and it was soooo good. Will definitely visit if I'm back in Leavenworth again.

Great little family-owned Korean restaurant attached to a Korean grocery. Food had a nice/rich flavor but I was disappointed by the small portion size (for the price). Also, hours are a little funny and unpredictable. Not a bad choice overall, give them a try!

Either my family and I must have been very hungry or the food was really that good. We gobbled everything up and were very satisfied. Waitress was super friendly. Will definitely return.

I recommend the short ribs, bulgogi and fried mondoo. They have an Asian grocery store with lots of tea sets.

Good if you're craving for Korean. But they also have a market. I had kimchi jiggae (soup) and it was too watery. For those that know, you can't mess up on kimchi soup too much!?! So I was disappointed. But not too many options for Korean food in Leavenworth.

This restaurant deserves much better than 2.5 stars. I go to college in a big city (Austin) away from Leavenworth and with the dozens of Asian places I have eaten at, I have yet to find a Bulgogi better than Hyundai's. The meat is perfectly seasoned giving it a nice sweet flavor. The rest of the menu is not as accessible for those who are not familiar with Korean Cuisine and it's pretty hit or miss from there (I've had a couple misses), but the Bulgogi is top notch, no matter which meat you choose. All the staff that work there are very friendly and they provide each meal with several additions (kimchee, sprouts, etc). The restaurant doubles as a market (or vise versa) that houses authentic Korean foods and supplies. The market is fairly extensive without being incredibly overpriced and will probably be a bit of culture shock for first timers. Go to Hyundai, support local business (Austin is rubbing off on me), and enjoy delicious food and a great market.

This place is such a dump that it's actually fun to go to. Comparing "out-of-place" restaurants, this place has a leg up on Osaka in the Asian category. Some interesting options on the menu that aren't standard beef bulgogi and kimchee fare. It even has an older Korean woman camped out watching a beat down TV.....love it. Restaurant doubles as a local Korean grocery for the military spouses on post; go.

If you love Korean food, this place will not disappoint. The food is DELICIOUS and there is a market in the back where you can explore all kinds of Korean treats. The place itself is not fancy at all, but I think it is just because all of the love is in the food! We have had the kimchi pancake, BiBimBap, Dwen Jjang Chiggae, mandoo, kimbap and Ddok Boggki. All of it has been amazing. If you are new to Korean food, definitely try the BiBimBap. It will not disappoint. The people are always nice and the prices are reasonable. I can't recommend them enough!

Saw that this restaurant received good reviews so the family and I tried it out tonight. It was delicious! My stepdad and I ordered the bibimbap (beef, seafood). My mom ordered the bulgogi. We also had a vegetable pancake as an appetizer. Our waitress was a little older and kind of inattentive but that's the only con. The little store connected to the restaurant is also a plus. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing bulgogi, five stars for that, after all I am pretty ignorant of Korean food in general so bulgogi and rice is the only thing I ever order ... it comes with kimchi. Yummy yummy yummy, I find myself craving it all the time. Craving that sweet meat, adding some spicy red sauce now... mouth watering... YUM!!!!

We love this place. We have known the owner, Su, for many years. She is a delightful person and a great cook. The bulgogi is the best we have experienced anywhere.
