High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

I went in just for some fries and tea with the kids. Service was sad (shift change?) I had to wait awhile for the check which should never happen when the place is empty and a 3 year old is part of the guests at a table. Cashier seemed annoyed at my crying kid .. but making us wait 15min for check? Not professional at all. Later my family gave it a second chance and felt sick that night. We like Applebees... but not this particiular store. Seriously, having a 12 yo with food poisoning is not fun.

Applebee's is okay it's never special or really bad every time I go. The person who agreed to at the door and sits you down gave my husband a nasty attitude when we wanted to switch tables due to a customer playing loud videos on his cell phone. I think this was the polite way to do it versus asking the customer to please turn it off. Our waitress was really really nice I liked her and she informed us about everything possible on the specials and menu. I like the military Mondays but you can definitely tell the refillable fries that you get with the burger are premade and sit out under a heat lamp. The dollar dessert which is I believe a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was really really overdone and I could not eat it whatsoever, so I just naw'd on the top of it which was kind of soft. Love the two drinks for seven dollars I will always come back to drink.

Food is ok. Steaks are often cooked wrong. They seem to bring drinks which are more ice than drink and then take a long time to refill them. There is one waitress ( I wont say her name, but it starts with a "D" ) who is incredibly slow and likes to watch while you sign your bill/pay your tip. If you can avoid her you should have an OK experience.

B.L.U.F.: Small portion sizes, good drinks. We moved from the U.P. in Michigan (SSM) to Leavenworth and decided to try the Applebee's here. To start, we ordered the artichoke-spinach dip appetizer, and it was dissapointingly small. The portion in Michigan was at least twice as big and served in a shallow and wide plate, easy to scoop. Here, the cup with the dip was so small you could barely dip the chips. You'll need a spoon to scoop it out and onto the chips. After the appetizer, the drinks were good (sangria, Bahama Mama). No complaints there. Then the main dishes came and they, too, were smaller. We had a chicken salad, the shrimp linguini, and a new dish they have with shrimp and curly pasta. The plates were huge but the portions were small. They were tempted-to-get-a-second-dish small. This is the second time we go to this particular location and we may give it a third try. Maybe. We may just have drinks.

Never coming here again. The waiter took 20 minutes to take our drink order. Then took another 30 to take our actual order. I heard them playing music in the kitchen that had a ton of cussing in the lyrics. There was a girl who was sitting down that obviously works here and was cussing up a storm with the other worker. The people that work here are completely unprofessional. Never going here again.

I do not honestly expect much from Applebies, but this one is especially bad. Service was very slow, and the restaurant wasn't full enough to justify the wait. Nor was the food quality worth the wait.

Having used Car Side To Go the night of Christmas Eve we ordered our meals plus extra for visiting family. My husband and I both shared one appetizer which was the boneless chicken wings. I didnt eat eat my meal, only ate the boneless wings. Shortly thereafter we didn't feel very well, and upon early Christmas morning we were deathly sick with food poisoning, to the point that we were unable to spend our Christmas day with our kids. My husband was unable to keep any fluids down for over 12 hours, and contemplated going to the hospital. My brother, who ate his entire meal (chicken penne) also became ill. I had thrown out every last piece of leftover we saved, including my full meal I didn't eat the night prior. Also, we have used Car Side To Go many times prior and having had so many issues that I spoke to the manager about many items missing from my orders that they would call me back with information on giving me a complimentary meal on my next order. This never happened. I will NEVER go back to this dump ever again. If I could give this place a negative number of stars I would. As it is the 26th of December and we're still not fully recovered.

My family has dined in and used carside to go. Dining in was unremarkable, while carside to go was deplorable. Our food was cold, steaks extremely over cooked or under cooked, items were missing, the salad was full of wilted lettuce, and the "car hop" was less than knowledgeable concerning our orders and our payment online...EVERY TIME!!!!! I recommend traveling to another Applebee's store or simply any other restaurant in KC. The Leavenworth store has thrown out yet another customer. I don't see this place lasting much longer under the current management/staff.

It's pathetic how some people choose to rate places. The first "reviewer" here was obviously some schmuck who's either been fired from there or is just a miserable person. And the second guy gave a terrible rating because his server was maybe busy or he failed to communicate with them? Pretty small place, so it's easy to find someone to help correct the situation, but no reason to slam the whole establishment. The food here is as good as any Applebee's, and the service is also typical. Their steak is actually very good, but of course no one would compare it to the finest steakhouse, either in quality or affordability. Also, there is NOT a delay if you call ahead for pickup, so try it sometime.

I haven't been a fan of Applebee's for awhile now. Either their food quality dropped in the last several years or I finally know what good food tastes like. Either way, I try to avoid the place. Well we were given a gift card and figured hey, free food. Plus, I had recently been to an applebee's to meet a group of people for lunch (I had no say in the choosing of the restaurant) and didn't totally hate their wonton chicken tacos appetizer. So I thought I could force down that and some chicken strips, which is relatively hard to screw up. Anyway. We were severely unimpressed by how terrible the food was. Our server was sweet but that's about the only acceptable thing the entire night. The chicken wonton tacos I had been counting on tasted off, and had soggy wontons (the ones I had tried originally were at least freshly fried). These tasted like they had been microwaved and that's not really that surprising since their food always tastes that way. My chicken strips were barely edible and the ranch dipping sauce tasted like it had gone bad. My husband got onion rings instead of fries, for which there was an almost $2 up charge and we couldn't even endure more than one bite each. They were soggy and the batter tasted (again) like it had gone bad. My son's Mac and cheese kids meal (it's literally Kraft Mac and cheese, easiest thing to make "fresh") still held the shape of a pouch or package shape, as if it had been made ahead, frozen in a bag, then dumped with some margarine in a dish and microwaved. My expectations going in were not high. The were seriously low, and yet somehow my experience managed to fall short of those super low expectations. We decided that if we ever get another gift card for applebee's, we will find an online exchange or re-gift it. But even that just seems wrong.

I've been here numerous times over the last decade. Every time I go, I shake my head and wonder why I put myself through that. The food is pretty good...when it's cooked right and doesn't need to be sent back, which happens often. I would strongly recommend making sure your server writes down your order. When they don't, inevitably they will forget something...like the kids meal we ordered (sucks to have an upset and hungry kid). I requested that our last server please write our order down. He said "I've done this long enough...I don't need to write it down." Since he refused, I took out a piece of paper and wrote it down for him. He was obviously perturbed by that...but at least we got exactly what we ordered! My advice...head south 20 minutes to the Legends. There are better quality restaurants in the same price range. Worth the drive!

Carsude to go is horrible here. I waited five minutes in my car before going inside where I wsited another five minutes. The order was also way undercooked and misding food. Avoid.

If you're looking for a glorified T.V. dinner - this is your spot. If you value your body, time, and money - please go somewhere else. The last 2 times I have been here it has been awful. The most recent time, folks who came in after me - ordered, received their food, and paid, before we had gotten our meals. Although they had to send their food back because a hair was found in it. By the time we got our food it was cold. I'll drive a little further and go the Legends from now on...

Carside To Go Rating: Note: I do not usually rate major chains, but every once in a while, I'll make an exception. In this case, I am rating because we used the Carside To Go for our meal. Sometimes you are home, just don't want to make dinner, or go out to eat. This was one of those times. So we thought about Applebee's - we generally like their food, and figured Carside To Go would work, since they are only about 10 minutes from our house. Ordering food could not be easier - just call them up. They say food will be ready in 15 minutes, and, by the time I got there it was...I think. Actually getting your food can be a little more challenging than the ordering - when I got to Applebee's, it was packed. The are dedicated Carside To Go spots - full (and no one leaving). Regular spots...full I waited a minute to see if someone was coming outside to check on cars, to see who was who, and bring the order out (as the website says they do, with their dedicated server). Nothing after about 5 minutes. So, I finally got a regular spot, walked in the side door and waited for another minute or two until their "dedicated" server came back to give me one of the 6 bags of food sitting there. She took my card, charged the meal, and I was off. By the time I got home, the food, while still good, was a little soggier than I would have liked, though it was warm. Not sure how long it was sitting there. The "dedicated" server did apologize about how busy it was, though she did not apologize for me having to come in. I think if a restaurant has a service like this, they should ensure the staff is there to support it. Again, it was a busy night - things happen, and I understand that. For that reason, I will try Carside To Go again, and see. For now though, they get only get two stars based on the service I expect.

I always get carside to go. I only get their blackened chicken salads with no egg and honeymustard. They put cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, boiled egg, and blackened chicken. It's actually quite a great salad for a mediocre restaurant. It's very dependable and they make it good everytime. Their honey mustard dressing is supprizingly.. My favorite honey mustard that I have had anywhere so far. So if u hate Applebees give this salad a go if your in a rush and want to eat healthy!

I will start by saying that I m a food snob and I am not a big Applebees fan. I do however, think Applebees has a great bar menu and the staff has always been accommodating if we wanted to watch a game or something. For everyone complaining just have a Mudslide and everything will be ok :)

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
