Great taco spot for non traditional Mexican food. Enchilada was great and the Barracho beans had a good beer taste to them. The food was piping hot when it came out and took a perfect amount of time not too short but long enough you know your food was freshly made.

Torn about this place. If you're looking for good eats on Mass St. after a late evening at the bars, I wouldn't pass this place up. But any other time, I'd hit up Chipotle down the street. I got the shredded chicken burrito. It was pretty good until I got to the end of it. I felt like they put too much of the house sauce inside which sort've ruined a darn good burrito for me. I feel like I know my Mexican food too, being from Phoenix, Arizona and all. No where near authentic, but would give it another shot.

Great tacos ... CHECK! Tex-Mex style enchiladas ... CHECK! Fresh guacamole ... CHECK! Tasty chili con queso ... CHECK! Good margaritas ... CHECK! Get in line to order ... CHECK! Reasonable prices ... CHECK! Rowdy, friendly employees ... CHECK! Other than the fact that I have ordered guacamole on two occasions and was told "sorry, we are out of guacamole", Fuzzy's is great! How can a Mexican restaurant be out of guacamole? Anyway, the tacos are excellent and at $2 a pop, A LAWRENCE BEST VALUE. They come crispy or soft, regular or Habañero, and with ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, or pork, so you can mix and match with other tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tort as (sandwiches), fajitas, and more. Beside the meat of your choice, lettuce, tomato, and crumbled feta cheese are added. I prefer the shredded beef tacos. The guacamole is pretty good although resting on a bed of shredded lettuce, the size is deceiving. At $3.99, including chips, the price is comparable to other Lawrence Mexican restaurants. The chili con queso ($3.49 including chips) is also good and like the guacamole can be ordered ala carte (no chips). The fajitas are "OK", nothing great. The enchiladas come with a white (cheese) sauce, so you have to ask if you want the more familiar red sauce. They are well done, not the best I have had, but better than most Lawrence enchiladas I have tried. For a self-service, fast food restaurant, Fuzzy's puts out good Mexican fare at a reasonable price. Their margaritas are not cheap ($6), but are decent and reasonably fortified. There are drink and beer specials daily, but do not expect anything close to those you can find at El Mezcal (23rd Street) in size or price. In all, Fuzzy's is an outstanding value and a neighborhood gem ... BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARRIVE BEFORE THE SORORITIES AND FRATERNITIES THAT FREQUENT FUZZY'S! CombatCritic Gives Fuzzy's Tacos 9 Bombs Out Of 10 for solid, fast, affordable Mexican food ... BOMBS ARE GOOD!

Free Winona and free salsa... Forrest Gump may not be a smart man but even he knows that charging for chips and salsa is bunk. Bet it would help your beer sales! Food is ok and the prices are good...but they are wheezing the salsa!

If you're trying to eat healthy (or anything close to healthy) this is not the place. Lots of fake cheese. Strange tasting chips and guacamole. Tried a bunch of items and couldn't find anything I liked. On the positive side, the location was good.

Oh. My. God. Guys, I stopped by really quick just to grab what I figured would be a semi-decent taco and was pleasantly surprised with what I discovered. I bought a pork taco, chicken taco, and a soda. It was like $5-good deal so far right? Only waited a couple minutes for my food to be done. When I bit into the first taco-me chickén-I literally said 'Oh my God'-out loud. As small pieces of corn tortilla, lettuce, and whatever sweet cheese they use flew out of my mouth in a beautiful dance, I couldn't help by smile and do the nod thing. (You know, like how when you eat something good you always turn to your friend and start nodding and make some sort of affirming noise like 'Mmmm mhmmm!') Anyway, I moved on to the pork after I scarfed down the chicken and I liked it EVEN MORE. Say whaaaaa?!? That's right. It was even better. If you're ever in the area, stop here. Eat food here. They have good food. Eat it. Smile, nod, scream-do whatever. Just eat here. You're welcome.

Um.... First let me start my first impressions. I'm typically not bothered by things that usually offend others. Take the recent Academy Awards, I personally loved Seth McFarland as a host and the boob song was hilarious. Seeing sexual innuendoes of fish with the caption "eat me" all over the restaurant was a bit much. The atmosphere of this place seems to appeal to people who want to get drunk or who want to eat during, or after being drunk. Also, when I arrived I had to use the bathroom. There was a sign to the back portion of the eating area that I followed. But it takes you into a hallway with a fork in the road and a third option of a door to open. Thankfully a waiter walked by and went through one of the directions so I assumed that was a staff area and when the other way. It was pitch black so you can see the floor. Finally I made it to a section with two bathroom doors. A man walks OUT of the girls bathroom (not an employee). I watched him go down the hallway and went in. The lights are flickering in the bathroom, it's dimly lit at best, about 30 degrees colder than the rest of the restaurant, and the stall door is ripped off one of three stalls. If I was going to be raped in a bathroom this would be the place. I go into a stall with doors and there's sticky note coupons posted all over one of the sides of the stall for alarm systems. I'm thinking "anyone who is paranoid to want an alarm system would not even come back this far." When I made it back to the restaurant my experience could only go up from that experience. The staff were very nice. My friend picked this location as a place to watch a KU basketball game. Despite this being a restaurant to appeal to college students, half the TV's were on the weather channel. The guy I asked to change the channel on the TV near us fairly quickly. I ordered a soup and tea. The cost seemed a little steep for this - $5. When I looked at my recipe the server automatically charged me for the souvenir cup for my tea to go in. Gee thanks for asking? It took forever to get my bowl of soup I ordered. I figured that they would just dip a ladle in a vat of soup, and bam! I went to the pick up area and watched them - they make microwaved soup. Okay, I make plenty of microwave soup at home, but at a restaurant? Really? At least hide that! The soup portion was a cup. It was made in an 8oz mug. I will say the soup was good. My friends who got salads commented on the huge weird bowl it came it - a metal mixing bowl. Also comments from the table of seven was how hot the salsa was. They only make one - no mild, medium, or hot. I tasted it just to see how hot. After one bit, I would rate medium. I like spicy, but I understand the need for mild. Lastly, I had to use the bathroom one more time before I left. (Entire KU game + 2 huge portions of iced tea = bladder that cannot wait to go home despite knowing what awaited here). I don't know how, but I swear the bathroom temperature dropped ANOTHER ten degrees. I won't be coming back. I like tacos but I think the whole atmosphere and experience I can skip. Bathrooms are rarely something I comment on in a yelp review, but that was just so bad I don't want to experience it again. I can honestly say that it's the worst bathroom in all of Lawrence even compared to dive bars after midnight. Nutrition information is posted on their website, which I do appreciate (pretty standard for a chain).

Ok food but when we asked for salsa that wasn't what was on the table, we were told it would cost! Outrageous! Very loud and not too clean. We won't be back!

  • Kim L.

Really good salads and tacos but when I asked for taco sauce or salsa for my beef taco I was told it would cost 50 cents. That is like charging for salad dressing on a salad or ketchup for a burger! Bummer!

We LOVED it the first time we went, and it was alright the second time. The second time, the tacos seemed old and just not good. I got the shrimp tacos both times, but the second time around turned me off to them. I do dig their nachos for sure. And their prices.

Ok this place is really great. They serve alcohol till pretty late and food until it's definitely time to go home. Fish tacos=bomb, borracho beans=bomb, burritos=bomb, nachos=bomb, other stuff = probably bomb. They have huge margs and a few beers on tap. I know a cook and he's a stereotypical mexican restaurant cook so that seems good right? Cool decor and is conveniently located by a park and one end of downtown Lawrence. I wish I live a couple blocks closer. I would be there all the time. All the prices are reasonable for what you are getting, honestly like fast food prices with up-scale Mexican quality. Thumbs up Biotches.

What a cool strip of restaurants and shops and Fuzzy's Taco Shop is there at the front to welcome you at the entrance. The Records family that owns this place really puts their care and hard work into making this a good place to come and have a good time while enjoying good food. Anytime I am in Lawrence I will be sure and stop by! Always get the fried fish and you can't go wrong.

Fantastic place to eat on Mass Street, with very good selection, and the prices are outstanding. Decent selection of beer, but it's nice and cold. Fun atmosphere. Seems more family friendly than some other places downtown.

Great place for reasonably fast food. Though they don't have a declared gluten/lactose free menu, you can request that cheese be avoided on corn tortillas and you're in the clear. Make sure that no cheese falls in the lettuce though. Great cider and margaritas, keep an eye out for happy hours. Also, the customer loyalty points add up to free tacos pretty fast. Staff are always very nice, this is my go-to joint when I don't feel like cooking-

It's a great taco joint. It's kind of tex mex, so if you're looking for true to form Mexico City street food, this isn't it, but if you're looking for an appropriately priced lunch or dinner, this a tasty option. I stick with either a hard shell ground beef or soft shell shrimp or fish tacos. There's always plenty of fresh tomatoes and cilantro on everything so that it doesn't taste processed and the sauce on the table is tangy and a bit spicy. If you like spice though, ask for the habanero sauce behind the counter. Tried the nachos once and didn't think they were amazing, so for me the tacos are the real star here.

  • Allie K.

We ordered takeout. The tacos were awesome. We had shredded beef, shredded chicken, and ground beef. I think for next time, we will order just soft tacos instead of crunchy. We ended up preferring those more. I also ordered a shredded pork tamale. Instead, I got ground beef. I dealt with it as I was already home. I didn't care for it. One bite and I tossed the rest. Chips were excellent. Queso was great. We will be back again.

Fuzzy's is an excellent late night Tex-Mex option, located close to the action on Mass street. As in, when I walked out of Fuzzy's after having queso and guac late Friday night, there were police everywhere, asking folks to vacate "Brothers Bar & Grill" (colloquially referred to as Brothers), an establishment known for accepting fake IDs. Fuzzy's has quick service, a good selection of vegetarian options, and a strong following in Lawrence. There's even a loyalty program to earn free food or apparel. Tip: The cup of guac sits on a bed of lettuce in an already tiny cup. The best value meal here is certainly the nachos, but the tacos are decent.

Best cheese enchiladas of my life. I'm not going to order this dish anywhere else for the rest of my life because there is no point. This is a great cheap little place for tex-mex. Loved it.

The nachos were great. It was our second visit here because they usually have a line to the door so we skip them. It's a very loud environment, don't expect a quiet conversation with your date.

I come here once or twice a week after I drop my son off at nursery school. I like a light lunch, and for a whopping $2.16, I can get a taco (for me, soft shell, shredded beef, hold the tomatoes, add hot sauce), which is just enough to get me through the day. The tacos have feta and a garlic sauce, additions I haven't encountered elsewhere and, as anyone who knows me can attest, I can never have too much garlic. The decor is as you should expect from a place called Fuzzy's Taco: a surf shack feel with innuendo that makes the middle schooler in you giggle. I have a middle school-aged stepson. He giggles. Case closed. There are six TVs turned to various sports-related programming, loud "classic" rock, advertisements for beer and local businesses. You order, you wait, your number's called. I've yet to encounter surly staff and the older gentleman who seems to be owner is very kind and helpful (he just walked me to places I can plug in my laptop). It's pretty busy in here right now and I only waited about three minutes, though there were two orders ahead of mine. Booths, tables, high tops, and patio seating. When I'm with my family or a few friends, I'll order chips and queso with a beer or margarita. No complaints. I'm not a fan of their use of styrofoam for sides of rice and such, though. If you're so inclined, they have an app you can download. Scan your receipt or play their game to earn points toward future food. How do you think I just paid for my three tacos?

Fuzzy's is the taco place that downtown Lawrence needs. Fuzzy's opened a couple of years ago in a space that was formerly a dance studio at the end of the Massachusetts business district. Fuzzy's is a chain out of Ft. Worth, Texas and is located in scattered locations outside of TX. The menu is straightforward and features typical Tex-Mex fare - spiced meats, cheese, and lettuce on or in tortillas. The menu prices are very reasonable with combination plates that include rice and beans for around $7. Fuzzy's also has a liquor license and can serve beer and cocktails, though bar service comes from the register so I believe cocktail items are limited to a specified menu. Food is ordered at a register, and then the ticket is announced from the kitchen window when the order is ready. On our most recent visit, Fuzzy's was celebrating being chosen as the best tacos in town by a survey and had $0.50 tacos, though I think that the normal price of $1.99 (or marginally less, in combinations, and probably a Taco Tuesday special) is still a pretty good price for a well-made, flavorful, and quick taco. You have your choice of soft or hard-shell tacos, choice of beef, chicken, shredded pork, grilled shrimp, and fish: the fish tacos also have the option of grilled or fried fish - I typically opt for the grilled, but Mrs. R had the fried fish and said it was very good. Tacos will have the meat (though there is also a veggie option) and a mixed mountain of shredded lettuce and queso fresco (a Mexican cheese similar to feta). I usually eat mine as such, but each table does also feature a bottle of Fuzzy's "Butt Burnin' Sauce" which is a hot sauce of mild-medium strength. When you have beans, you are also given the option of refried pintos, black, or borracho ("drunk", cooked with pork and beer), and I always go borracho. Rice also includes the choice of mix-Mex or cilantro-lime, and I like to mix it up between the two. I believe there is also an option for fried potatoes as a side, but I have never had them. Since Fuzzy's has a liquor license, there are options for getting beer to go with your food (and what Tex-Mex is not improved by a beer on the side). Beer typically comes in a ~20 oz. frosty goblet that has the kind of heft that could stove in someone's skull in a bar fight (fortunately, Fuzzy's has always been a place of peace in my experience, but good to know in case of zombies). This also means that Fuzzy's can be a late-night stop for needed sustenance after day drinking (say, during the KU sports seasons) but to still keep that drink on. Fuzzy's also stays open late (ca. 3) and does last-call at the same time as other bars, so proper planning will let you enjoy tacos and beer right up to the end of the evening. Fuzzy's also has breakfast - for when you want to start your day off right with tacos. Combinations of eggs, cheese, bacon, and potatoes make for some damn-tasty wake-ups. Additionally, the Bloody Marys, also served in the frosty goblets, have a great flavor and a good kick of spice to jumpstart your day.

Meh. The shrimp quesadilla was so greasy, and my stomach was not happy the rest of the day. Also, the queso was disappointing (and I'm pretty sure it was microwaved). The chips, however, had a very unique flavor to them and were very good.

Not great, but not terrible. Sometimes really good. Other times, Fuzzy's Taco of Lawrence is downright terrible. Owner is always present in the day time. Night time things get rather interesting with service and food quality. Hate hate hate they serve warm (hot temperature wise) unflavored and lucklaster salsa upon request (with chips). Yes you pay for the chips and salsa. My advice is to request the salsa cold if you insist on ordering it. Biggest complaint about Fuzzy's is exactly the same for Freebirds Burritos.......Why so much damn salt!!! When you eat at places like these and the sodium levels are through the roof, it screams of prepackaged chain type products. Not fresh by any means. The dang cheese dip/sauce is even overly salty. On top of all that: Fuzzy's insist on adding more sodium with their Fuzzy Dust that is sprinkled on just about everything. I really hope the owner invest in a portable defibrillator because somebody is likely to have a heart attack in the joint from all the freaking salt in their food. Breakfast burritos and breakfast taco's are pretty good. Their ice tea selection is some of best in city. Not too sweet and freshly brewed all day. Get their plastic refillable cup if you plan on visiting a few times. Good bargain. Overall, a decent place for the late night drinkers. Me personally, I'll stop in once or twice a year when I grab one of their coupons from the University of Kansas annual coupon books.

Fuzzy and taco aren't words I often use in the same sentence, however I ventured into this little place hoping I'd find my taco fuzzless. I'm happy to say, I had two tacos and both came without fuzz. In my opinion, it is a nice little lunch spot. I had two crispy tacos because I wasn't super hungry. I thought they were good. The feta cheese kinda caught me off guard. I've never had a taco with feta. The place was quiet in the middle of the day. I'm sure it gets busier with KU students in the evening. I'd eat there again if I was ever hungry on that same street.

  • Lexey J.

Fuzzy's is pretty great! It's open late, which is one of the best things about the place other than the food. The tacos and burritos are first class and the staff is always friendly. I haven't had any of their alcohol yet, but it seems like it would be just as good as any place that serves alcohol. The service isn't instant, which is nice because it means they're probably actually cooking the food, but it's definitely not excessively long. It's a great place to come and grab some chow at the end of a night and kick back after some time hanging out on Mass Street.

Fun and casual. I like the college town sports bar atmosphere. Tacos are all very good. The wraps are my favorite. Worth a trip if you are in the mood for some light Mexican food.

I had large expectations when I came into this place. I had been told the food was great, which it is... not. First, at 1:30 am this place was out the door. Oddly enough the lobby was nearly empty. After looking around I realized that despite the line being nearly 40 people long, there was ONLY ONE REGISTER OPEN. At that I think they had Helen Keller working it, she was taking around 5 minutes per order. People were running for the exits left and right. Secondly, I get to the register and (trying to be chivalrous here) I order my fiance's food and send her to a seat. I order a plate only to be told they don't serve the plate because it is too much of a strain on the kitchen! Are you freaking kidding? The kitchen who was getting an order every five minutes cannot handle the load? So I order each item individually and they let me. I mean of course it is not too much of a problem to make the same food and charge me extra. OVERCHARGING YOUR CUSTOMERS INTENTIONALLY IS AN UNFORGIVABLE SIN! Third, the rice was not even cooked. So I had to OVERPAY for some food that had some CRUNCHY rice. Yum!

With the fierce competition downtown for good casual Latin/Mexican food, I was not sure if I even wanted to add another place to my repertoire, but I am glad I did. I ate here on a Tuesday night and there was plenty of seating and barley any wait to order. You order at the counter and pick up you food at a separate counter. Tuesday was taco plate night, meaning 2 soft or hard tacos (with choice of shredded beef, chicken, pork, shrimp or veggies) plus 2 sides (including several types of beans, fried potatoes, or rice) for $5.50--that is a good deal in my book. I ordered the shredded pork and the shredded beef with the black beans and the borracho beans. Both my soft tacos were delicious, served with sauce and pico, in soft corn shells. The highlight for me was the borracho (means "drunk" in Spanish) beans--they are cooked with beer and bacon, and are so tender and flavorful--amazing. Next time I go, I might just get 2-3 sides of these beans. The interior is very casual with booths and high-tables, corrugated metal accents, and televisions. This is targeted toward the KU population, and although I did not notice it, my dining companion noted a few signs with slight sexual innuendo (which you might expect from the name)-- You are here for the food...so no need to worry about this, unless you are dining with someone who is sensitive to this. They also have a full breakfast menu and are open from 7am every day to midnight during the week and 3am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday--a great addition to Mass street's early/late dining options, for sure.

I certainly like the variety they have for their tacos but they cost a little too much for this to be a regular place to eat out. You'd get more value for your dollar by eating at a sit-down Mexican restaurant on Mass St. As other reviewers have pointed out: Not great, but not terrible.

    (3)
  • Katie L.

Like another reviewer said: Not great, but not terrible. I'm glad I went through a handful of reviews before asking the staff what a good thing to try for the first time would be. The two girls looked completely hungover and not interested in suggesting anything; the suggestion I received was, "I tried the borracho beans last week, they were good". Thanks? I ended up ordering the pulled pork taco and a shredded beef taco, then the beans just to see if they were messing with me. The pulled pork taco was delish, I inhaled it. The shredded beef taco, however, had zero seasoning and the meat was very dry. The beans were "meh". Nothing too special, but I ate them anyway. I had a kid with me, who really enjoyed his quesadilla, but was ultimately sad that they did not have any taco burgers. I don't know if I'll venture back to this place... I'll have to be in an adventurous mood and apparently study the menu online before going again.

Whenever we get a chance, my family & I come to Fuzzy's. They have quick service, good atmosphere & AMAZING tacos! I always get fish or shrimp tacos. They are the best ones I've had & I've been to a ton of Mexican/taco shops. So far haven't found a fish/shrimp taco that could hold a candle to this place! The chips & salsa are good. My kids love the nachos & beef tacos. The nachos are so big my 8 year old boy cannot finish them! You come to Lawrence, COME TO FUZZYS!!!

When I first entered, I didn't know what to expect. The place looks like a surfer hang out with metal siding covering most of the interior, plastered with signs and stickers. Though brand new, the decor makes it feel a bit like a dive. We ordered at the counter, getting the taco plate which is $0.50 off on Tuesday. We filled our own water glasses and took a seat in a rather hard booth. I didn't have very high expectations for the food, but when our large platters of 2 tacos and 2 sides ($5.49) arrived, I was impressed. The beef was really tender and the carnitas was incredibly flavorful! I liked the option of different kinds of bean - I tried both the black and the spicy ones and enjoyed both. I entered thinking this would be a bland mexican experience and was surprised at the freshness and the unique touches that Fuzzy Taco provided. I like the outdoor seating options, but the beer selection is wayyyy too limited, especially for downtown Lawrence. The late night hours will definitely draw in the crowds, and I look forward to coming back to try something else from the menu - maybe breakfast!

This taco joint is fantastic. Shredded beef, shredded chicken or grilled shrimp - all great. I like em soft/regular - but you also get hard shell and or spicy. Feta on tacos is awesome - who knew? And chips and a divine queso rounds out a surprisingly filling meal. And a souvenir plastic cup with my fountain drink is a nice plus. Soon I will have a full set :-).

All right, so I went here on day one...literally, it had been open for barely four hours when I went. Therefore, I expected a few flaws in the location, which did present itself. First, it took forever to order. I went on the early side and there were three people in front of me, but it took six minutes until my order was placed. It took another eight minutes or so to get my food, which was expected. The staff were all really quite friendly. So the food...it is a wide menu with emphasis on baja-style Mexican, which means it's very different than your typical American taco place (in a good way). Tacos and burritos own the menu, and they hype up their fish and shrimp options. Tacos come in either hard or soft (get the soft), regular or habenero, and choice of fish, shrimp, pork, beef, chicken or veggie. There are even breakfast options (it opens at 7am). There are margarita's and a decent beer selection for this type of place. I had a "Taco Plate" which was two tacos with two sides. I got one grilled fish taco and one shredded pork taco. I was surprised by how small they were, honestly. They run $1.99 each (if you don't get the plate), which I would be upset about...that being said, the plate was $5.99 so I felt that was OK. Both tacos were OK, but nothing great. There wasn't a ton of meat on them, but it was tasty meat. However, there was one big flaw in my mind - the toppings. There were a lot of toppings which overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. For example, they put Feta Cheese on it...the feta makes it nearly impossible to taste the meat, which is disappointing. For sides, I had the potatoes (think breakfast potatoes), which were fairly tasty, and rice, which was OK but slightly overcooked in my opinion. Also, the hot sauce at the table has almost no flavor or heat, which is a bummer. The delays are most likely because the place is brand new, but the chain itself has been around for a while (mostly in Texas), so I doubt the food itself will change much. In that way, I may very well try it again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here.

Baja tacos on corn tortillas with feta and creamy sauce are grrrreat! Cannot come in to Fuzzy's and not have just one! The grilled shrimp is always good way to go. The grilled shrimp salad with Avocado Ranch is super. I can't say the Kansas branches of Fuzzy's are exactly to the perfection of the DFW restaurants but they are improving for sure! Every time my wife & I are in Lawrence we have to hit up Fuzzy's! Affordable, tasty, almost street-like food we enjoy very much!

First, let's realize that the whole "fuzzy" taco name along with the logo is an obvious reference to something "adult" themed. Really? I'm certainly uncomfortable taking family there when the kids ask "What is a fuzzy taco." I'm not ready for that conversation! The menu is limited and the bites are tiny. The two dollar tacos aren't even quite the size you'd get at Taco Bell. Don't expect free chips and salsa here either. This is a fast food place with slow service. Trying to get in and out was difficult due to the line queuing as you walk in and trying to get your food from the delivery window was equally confusing. I feel like I waited way too long at lunch to get my meal considering it didn't need to be cooked but rather assembled. This place will appeal to the students wanting late night munchies as well as an early breakfast but others may wish to steer clear. I wasn't impressed, but I'll say this: it was cheap!

After eating at the KC-Wornall location and knowing I was going to be in Lawrence today, I was excited to stop in for some tacos. The experience was quite disappointing and if you want to try Fuzzy's Tacos, drive to the KC location. The overall ingredients were not the same high quality that I experienced at the KC store. The shredded beef was tough and chewy. The feta bland. The taco shells plain (the taste of the shells was a huge hit at the Wornall location.) The shredded pork was better and tender, but the flavor was just ok. The best part of the meal was the beer. PBR on tap was very well priced and served in a frosted glass making it super cold. If they could get their food up to par with their beer or the other location this would be a place to go, for now, enjoy the other options Lawrence has to offer.

Fuzzy's was a pleasant experience, arriving though I really had not idea what they had to offer so I just got a simple combo, A taco and an enchilada. Once I ordered they offered shredded beef on the taco. I ordered the Latin Potatoes and Re-fried Beans. The taco was absolutely delicious a really well balanced set of flavors. I was a little confused as I did not find any salsa, however they have a hot sauce that is very tasty. The enchilada was ground beef and had good flavor but was similar to other places. The potatoes were very, very good. I would have to say the re-fried beans were quite dry and did not have that great of a flavor. I usually like to eat the re-fried beans as a dip, but no chips were served. Pricing was very reasonable and I will be going back for sure. I am looking forward to trying the grilled fish tacos.

No way will I go here again! The cram your tacos full of nasty iceberg lettuce and give you like two scraps of meat. It was super noisy, I couldn't even hold a conversation because it was so loud. The cherry on top? The tacos are stinkin' pricey! Want to get drunk and get loud? Go to Fuzzy's Taco Shop. Want tacos? Go somewhere else!

So...it's not really Mexican, but it's pretty darn good. I have become obsessed with this place. I always order margaritas on the rocks, but I love the frozen ones here. Chicken tacos are great. I think the salsa would be really tasty if not served warm.

I read the other reviews of the lettuce & I didn't really find that to be true. I had the grilled shrimp tacos which were quite delish. The guacamole was wonderful & fresh.

I was expecting to pick through my food with tweezers as I am not a fan of fuzz in my food, but contrary to what one would think, the food lacks its namesake fuzz. Good tacos, though small in size. They have some unusual toppings that worked quite well with the rest of the palette they were hoping to achieve.

So I was here on opening day and I had waited for this place to open since it was hyped up in Lawrence. I've been to Tex-mex chains in Texas such as Torchy's and love that place, so maybe this place will bring that flare to Kansas. The menu board above the counter was quite daunting at first as it is a big menu to be standing in line for. For a first timer, I get pressured when the line starts to build behind me. The staff at the counter were friendly (keep in mind - opening day) and helped me pick out a Spicy Shredded Pork Burrito for $5.49. My girlfriend ordered some chicken taco for $1.99 which was steep for what she got. To drink, we each got a couple of PBRs which were the COLDEST beers I've ever been served in the midwest. That schooner was so cold, it had a thick layer of frost on both sides of the glass. Awesome effort. Best part about them PBRs...Each were $1.50 and decently sized. Now to the food. It was almost the size of a Chipotle burrito and being a tad smaller made it a perfect portion size. That was about where the good ended. My burrito was not at all spicy to me. It felt cold in my hands because of the heaping amount of guacamole smeared on the once warm flour tortilla. I love guacamole to death but it drowned out all the other flavors. Few of those bites were spent searching for the meat. Chipotle wraps their burritos full from end to end, Fuzzy's didn't. Yes, I got full after one burrito and yes the bill was kind to my wallet, but I'm going back to Chipotle for a quick burrito next time. Maybe I'll come back just for PBRs and try their snack foods. We will see..

The tacos are delicious! $2 tacos allow you to try a few and not spend a fortune. Great quest dip and the outdoor seating is a huge plus.

I had the tempura fish taco, chicken enchilada, refried beans, potatoes, and a Boulevard beer. The fish taco had cilantro on it, which I don't care for, and the tortilla (I ordered a soft taco) was stiff and crumbly and it fell apart as I was eating it. The rest of the food tasted okay. Not great, but okay. For $4 I got a huge chilled schooner full of beer, which might have been the highlight of my visit. Service was friendly and helpful. I got the sense that people enjoyed working there. Will I go back when it's easier for me to go to Chipotle? Probably not. Granted, Fuzzy's has things that Chipotle doesn't, but when it comes down to it, I think Fuzzy's suffers by comparison.

Fuzzy's is easily my favorite taco joint in town. The food is great, i get the soft shell chicken tacos and its amazing. Their chips and queso are great as well. Also, their drink menu is ever expanding.

Ordered the chips and guacamole along with some hard pulled pork tacos. The pulled pork tacos were fantastic with feta cheese and juicy pork. The guacamole was great and the chips were covered with the right amount of spices. Topped it off with a bucket of 16 ounce Bud Lights for a great price. Will definitely be eating here again.

I was anxiously awaiting this place to open because Mexican is my favorite food! I had it as 'drunk food' the past weekend and it was good, but I definitely wanted to give it a sober try. I wasn't disappointed! I had the tempura fish taco, and a shredded beef taco, both on crispy shells. They're topped with feta and cilantro which gives them a really fresh taste. I had chicken soft tacos on the weekend, and I probably wouldn't order them on a soft shell again because they're corn tortillas and I prefer flour for soft tacos. But the meat was good regardless. We also had chips and queso, which was also yummy. My only 'complaint' would be that their chips are so thin that they break when trying to scoop some queso. This place also serves $1.50 goblets of PBR, also have some other beers on tap. It's also pretty cheap because we got 4 tacos, chips & queso and a soda for $13. Will definitely go back as there are so many options to try!

I had high hopes for Fuzzy's but was very disappointed. Chips and salsa are easily my favorite part of any Mexican joint but Fuzzy's serves their salsa warm and was so heavy on the tomato that it almost tasted like Marinara. The tacos were mediocre and not very flavorful. I think there are much better options in Lawrence.

I learned about Fuzzy's from the soon-to-be General Manager of the 103rd and Wornoll location in Kansas City. She's a friend, and in order to give the food a try before they opened I traveled to Lawrence with my girlfriend and two of our friends over the weekend. As we walked in, the decor was decidedly hippie-surf-beach bum. It was light-hearted and fun, and my girlfriend Kathleen was really a fan. The menu was a selection of tacos, burritos, and other standard Tex-Mex. I ordered three soft tacos - shredded beef, shredded pork, and ground beef. Each came topped with feta and Garlic Sauce, which is standard. K also got a shredded beef taco. The sizes were a bit small, but at 1.99 per taco three filled me up nicely for a very affordable price. Additionally, for 1.99, you can get a large drink in a plastic souvenir cup that costs only 1.00 for refills on subsequent visits. My tacos were all good, but a special call-out needs to be given to the pork which was exceptional. They also serve their own branded hot sauce at each table, and a few splashes really woke up the flavor of the meats without adding an unbearable amount of heat. While this wasn't "heaven-on-earth" good, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, the service was incredibly friendly and fast, and with the pricing I will most definitely be coming back to sample the burritos and nachos. Not worth a destination stop, but if you find yourself in Lawrence swing by 11th and Mass and check it out!

Pretty cool little place. Plenty of menu items, doesn't feel like a mexican place with 5 ingredients in 30 different combinations. The staff is friendly, and the decor is cool. Salads are served in the same HUGE metal bowls the cooks mix them up in. A little weird, a little sloppy - the bottom of my bowl had cheese on it. Nachos were good, but leave off the pork - tasted dry and old. Try their toasted sandwich, yum.

The tacos are fresh!!!! My best choice is their tempura fish/shrimp taco/burrito. I went there about 4 times within 2 weeks because i just got hooked on them. Price is good ~4$ for 2 good fresh tacos. Order does not take long even during after bar hours. Everything else i see people eating looks great to try!

The food served a Fuzzy's is edible. Who ever decided that Lawrence needed another mexican/taco restaurant, they're wrong. Of all the possible options, I would never choose to go to Fuzzy's again. The first time I went, I went with a friend and we thought it was just OK. The second time I went, I went with my wife and we decided to never go back. For some reason the black beans are cooked in chicken broth and it's not a good flavor. It's probably just chicken bullion cubes thrown into the canned bean juice at that. The seasoning added to the tortilla chips is a bit much. It's not needed, nor does it compliment the salsa. Not only is the salsa served warm, but it is out right bad and is not spicy in the least. Everything else was fairly mediocre. If you order a spicy taco, you get a tub of hot sauce with a bit too much vinegar. The idea of Fuzzy's seemed good. I heard the rumors of their breakfast burritos, I was pumped about its location near downtown Massachusetts St., but overall the restaurant failed to live up to it's hype.

Pretty good tacos. Seemed really disorganized when I was there, they were not able to make certain types of tacos, and we were there during lunch on a Satuday. But for 2 bucks each, they were pretty damn good. The meat is good, fish is good, chicken was good. Give it a try!! I would say hold the lettuce extra cilantro next time. The lettuce was less than meh, but cilantro was great.

This is, by far, the BEST taco bar in town. The pork and other meats are always tender, always consistent and the ingredients are always noticeably fresh. The habanero sauce is AWESOME!!! You have to ask for it and I'll even admit to having the tendency to smuggle any leftover sauce out with me! The restaurant is always clean, service is always fast and friendly. The owner is ALWAYS there working on the floor and makes it a point to remember customers names and ensure that their visit is enjoyable. I am a Fuzzy's fan for life!

What a delightful treat!! Fuzzy's is my new favorite restaurant. I was visiting friends and did a double take. We have Fuzzy's in Texas and didn't realize it made it to KS. I LOVE the chicken salads. This time I also had tacos. The staff was extra friendly and made the whole experience terrific. We will probably go back before we leave. Highly recommend this restaurant. A must!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
