Got their breakfast blend drip coffee, which is from Topeca Roasters in Tulsa and wifey got sticky bun latte. Says it's the best latte she has ever had and the drip coffee was well above average. They were knowledgeable about their coffee, which was refreshing and I would go back if in the area again.
A lovely little coffee shop at the corner of Independence's downtown. The coffee was very good, and they were more than happy to help us out with special orders. The breakfast food was also quite good. We had the bacon and egg frittata as well as the bacon quiche. Both were made quickly and were very good. A nice little surprise.
Fancy coffee. Nice fast and friendly service. Good breakfast paninis. Get a free banana with fruit smoothies. Big muffins too.

I was in Independence with some friends for a wedding, and we happened upon this place for lunch. We found it to be a delightful slice of life! The food was good, the decor was kitschy, the people were a delight!

Been there 3 times, always a great meal. Had the best KC strip steak in years. Seriously. No exaggeration. Small town bar restaurant that is very welcoming to anyone dropping in. Bartender made me feel like a local my first time there. Went there second time and had a BBQ pork sandwich that was falling all over it was so packed! Maybe because I stopped in later in the evening and they wanted to not have leftovers? Or just their routine style I don't know, but it was incredible. I should have left off the SW egg rolls as you could have rolled me out to my car! This is my favorite spot in town. Just need to get them to have some decent draft beer instead of the standard bud, miller etc...

Big Cheese Pizza

Cute little pizza place in a cute little downtown area. Wide variety of pizza offerings and decent looking salad bar. Their pizza toppings are fairly typical standard offerings, but they do offer three types of cheese. We ordered a deep dish Big Cheese with onions, pineapple and diced tomatoes. It was quite good. Service was a tad slow paced.. and the prices a bit spendier than expected. But awesome for a locally owned non-chain place!
We just went for the first time today. The service was good, the salad bar was very good, but the pizza was not good at all. The sauce tasted like it was out of a can and they put so much of it on the regular crust that it made the pizza very soggy. There were other options like spicy sauce, sandwiches and pasta, but unfortunately based on our first experience we will not be back to try them.
There isn't much to choose from as far as pizza places are concerned in Independence. So with that being said, the pizza is fairly decent and the salad bar is probably the highlight of the whole thing. I've only been here a few times due to the simple fact that they are pretty pricey and when it comes down to it I can go to a chain restaurant and get the same service and selection for less than I would pay here.

I wish this place were in my town. Great service, great lunch. The waitress knew her menu and gave us good recommendations. Mrs. Eva had a steak sub sandwich and some delicious red pepper tomato vinaigrette soup. I had a chicken bacon ranch sub sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. The fries were cooked perfectly - hard to do with sweet potatoes. I would like to come here again.
I was traveling through and stopped in for lunch. Really nice and friendly place. I travel a lot and it is nice to stop in a place that makes you feel at home. Had the pizza and it was good. Thin crust style with a good tomato sauce. I would definitely eat here again.
We ate here primarily because of the Yelp reviews. You guys let us down this time. There was no wait and the young girl serving our table was friendly and attentive (which is the only reason the restaurant gets two stars). I had beef and mushroom pizza and the guy I was with had a Philly cheese steak pizza. The crust was good - thin and crisp, but the rest of the pie was really underwhelming. We both thought the sauce was straight from a can and it had almost no flavor at all. The mushrooms on my pizza were out of a can for sure. The meat was most likely from the local Wal-Mart deli. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but the pizza is not worth the effort.

Restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was nice. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. My water glass remained full and we never ran out of chips; however the positives stop here. I am from San Antonio, I have had the best Mexican around, so my expectations were already low. They seemed to manage to lower them even more. A co-worker (from Louisville) suggested that we go there for lunch. I got the fajita nachos (steak/chicken). Who covers fajita meat with taco seasoning and queso? No pico, shredded lettuce, guacamole, jalapeño, nothing. I was so disappointed that I skipped supper; stomach ache from all the taco seasoning. The food was prompt and I must say my co-worker's chimichanga looked good. What doesn't look good fried though? The bill was $8 and some change. I am not a finicky eater (that's my wife) but I couldn't wait for the meal to be over; my co-worker talks too much but mainly it was the food.
Ambiance: Nice family sit-down restaurant with fun hispanic architecture indoors with arches and a pastel white color scheme. There's even a mural indoors. Service was good although our waiter did ask us our orders twice after writing it down, that was the only hiccup. Food: I got the lunch #12 which is marinaded chicken, rice and avocado salad all of which were pretty disappointing. The dish came with 3 thin strips of chicken which were crisped on a stovetop and covered with a tomato chili sauce. The problem was that the pieces were soo thin the chicken dried out and had the texture of leather, I had to saw through it with my knife. The avocado salad was chopped lettuce, a cross-sectional slice of white onion, 2 slivers of avocado and a tiny lime. Along with the flavorless rice, I found nothing enjoyable about the meal. As a lover of Mexican food I can't recommend this place at all given the poor cooking technique, poor dish composition and bland flavors.
It's one of those Mexican restaurants that pours lots of cheese on everything and the guacamole comes out of a big bucket in the back (don't know what's really in it). The beans and rice were bland. I ordered a Chile relleno, not sure where the poblano was at. There were like two bites of the pepper and the rest was ground beef and way too much melted cheese. If you like real Mexican food don't eat here. I had quite a bit of my meal left and my husband asked if I wanted a takeout box and I told him no way, not worth the effort. I asked my husband how his fajitas were and his comment was"not terrible". We had been at the hospital so it had been about 10 hours since we had eaten but even that didn't make it more palatable.

I am a HUGE Taco Bell fan, but I've had to stop eating at the Independence location. Drive-thru service is slow, my order is usually wrong, and they skimp on quality. There's plenty of other options in Independence when it comes to Mexican food. Don't fall for the temptation here, you'll be sincerely disappointed.
