I enjoyed the fact that pizzas were half priced on HH. I got here early after a work meeting so that I could sit alone and get some work finished. The bartenders both were fantastic - attentive yet leave you alone to work too. Made good recommendations too. I had the toasted ravioli appetizer. This is NOT St. Louis toasted rav; but that's ok. It was good. The marinara here is good. Also, be aware, the yelp menu is not the most current. They no longer have the cheese plate available - which i planned to have as my dessert... The Maui Wowi pizza is cloyingly sweet. It is delicious pizza and crust with great cheese and toppings - but without marinara and only the chili sauce it is too sweet for me. I added jalapenos - which helped a bit. I only ate a small portion of each thing I ordered. Since I don't eat sweet desserts and couldn't after the pizza, I tried the french onion soup cup. It really helped end on a good note to get rid of the sweet aftertaste. Overall this place is fantastic! It is a definite must visit in Hutchinson!!!!

Went there with a date and got a nice secluded seat toward the back of the restaurant. The martinis were excellent (turtle dove ). Strong, but not too strong where it overpowered the flavor. Filet mignon was cooked exceptionally well and was tender and juicy. Server was polite and very knowledgeable of the menu. The red onion soup with the Italian bread was exquisite. Highly recommended date spot.

Was a little disappointed-- I could have gone to Olive Garden and my food would have been better. We had a great waitress but the other staff was not too friendly. We didn't realized you needed a reservation and so when we walked in the hostess was not very friendly (and they were not by any mean packed). The food was mediocre--nothing special and it was pricey. Next time I'll try the pizza because the pasta was disappointing!

Summary: Everyone i've talked with calls them an Italian restaurant so i'm reviewing them as such. If you've ever had real Italian food, you'll be disappointed and should make the drive into Wichita instead of going there. I've been there twice and am going to try them a third time when the weather breaks as I really want to like them. The good: The staff is fantastic, the location is perfect, and the decor is warm and cozy. Their coffee is top notch and worth a visit by itself. The meh: The pasta dishes i've tried have been average to unremarkable. I'm not sure if they're lazy from lack of competition or just ignorant of how Italian food should taste. Regardless the pasta they serve is bland and nothing you'll look forward to. The bad: Unreasonably expensive for the quality of food provided.

What a neat place in downtown Hutch. The ambiance is incredible, a very nice place for drinks or a nice dinner. We had the wood oven pizzas which were incredible. The wait on the food was a bit long but our waiter made the best of it. They make homemade bread with an olive oil dip. It's incredible. This is a jewel of a place for Hutchinson.

It is like a gem in Hutch. Outside already made a great impression on me. An unmistakeable landmark along Main Street. It matches the charms of a quaint little town but when you step inside you are greeted with ultimate sophistication. I love the wine list and the pastas are al dente! Service was superb and very professional. Decor was artful and high class. Dessert is highly recommended. Coffee was nicely brewed. We are coming back.

Another place in the Hutch--decent enough Italian food--nice lay out--walk around downtown it's quite nice.

Came here back in April and wooooo is it fancy! Obviously the place in town for something upscale, as on a Friday night before 6pm the only place they could seat three people was at the bar. It wasn't a bad seat, just goes to show how packed the place is (so... make a reservation). The food was decent, can't say it was really worth the price it was, but with limited options you have to take what you can get. I got the tuna steak, which was a little tough, but overall not bad. The toasted ravolis were good (and a midwestern classic). Just still can hardly believe what it cost compared to what we got (isn't it Kansas at least?). The atmosphere was as fancy as you'd expect for a place this upscale, and the service was prompt. Sitting by the oven, even though I can't say from tasting them, the pizzas looked pretty good!

I had a business lunch here and will definitely return with future clients when I'm in the area. I enjoyed the margherita pizza and a side house salad. Excellent atmosphere. Friendly service.

JIllian's is Hutch's tiny food saving grace. I'm from CA and have been in Hutch 9 months now.....Jillian's is the ONLY place that has food beyond typical diner burger/fries that actaully has some synamic flavor! I LOVE this place!! Is it pricey? A little...BUT you get what you pay for! Quailty ingredients combined in flavorful combinations that are exciting and far exceed the burger/sandwich food culture of Hutch. The biggest down fall for me in moving here has been the food. There is NO variety outside of burgers, fries or pizza. So when I'm jonesin for a nice quality meal that takes me back to feeling like I'm in a highly populated urban area again I go to Jillian's. Everything I've had has been great. The shrimp appetizer with melted butter and cheese...AMAZING...so amazing that we asked our waiter to bring us some more of the "juice" so we could dip the already delicious bread in it. Atmosphere of the place si great too...just enough swank without trying too hard or being over the top. They make a great martini too :)

The best "special meal" restaurant in Reno County. Great date night restaurant, and great for business lunch meetings. The pizza is well made with bright tomato sauce, the salads are balanced and fresh, the wine pairings are quality and the hummus is well done. This place is NOT a rip-off. For about the same price as Applebee's you 10x better quality REAL food, a higher quality of service, and a higher quality ambiance. It is utterly worth every penny and very few places can claim that. My only complaint: the elevator-y bland jazz music :( How about some Rat Pack, or a Songza station, or guest DJs :) Call ahead to make a reservation because it gets busy on weekends. And they use Knorks, a Kansas invention, woo-hoo!

amazing food, great service, and beautiful design. When there is a special occasion and I want to go somewhere I know I will have a good time and a good experience, this is the place I go. The menu is well thought out, with something for even a picky eater, and it is well priced for the amount of food you get. The beer selection on tap is a lot better than most other places too. I've tried a variety of the menu from pasta and sandwiches, to soup and salad, and I haven't been disappointed yet.

We come here every time we come to town to visit family and always enjoy a good meal. We come early with the kids (my apologies) but it's a great atmosphere later on if you only want to enjoy adult time. The salads are always very fresh and the pizza (especially the crust) never disappoints. The service has always been excellent. Hope they survive and not end up like Wilder's.

We went there on Valentine's Day for lunch. Despite the holiday, they weren't very busy. Even though we had a 12:45 a.m. reservation, our seating was less than ideal because we were sat at a wobbly table. The room was very dark so it was difficult to read the menu. I think they could really use some candle light, especially on Valentine's Day. Our waitress (I think her name was Candace) was extremely rude and acted really busy even though she wasn't. She seemed to be upset about working on Valentine's Day. She would walk really fast like she actually had some place important to go, but like I said, they weren't that busy. In college I used to work as a waitress and handled way more tables than any of these waitresses do. We had to ask for a drinks menu after we were seated (Why would we need to ask for that?) After finishing drinks and an appeteizer of toasted ravioli, we waited an additional 20 minutes to get our main dishes. After the main dish, we wanted a dessert menu, but once again our waitress couldn't be bothered with that. Instead she rattled off a bunch of desserts that we couldn't remember. Plus we couldn't see the prices. It turned out that we purchased a little chocoalte cake for $8 LOL. We will never go back there again.

Definitely a great atmosphere, jazzy music playing, cool bar area. Pizza was a good choice for lunch. Waitress was great and friendly. Only downfall...the hostess is a mean person. I waited for about 2min when i came through the door (no problem). Being asked, "Can i help you?" In a sarcastic tone as she put the menus away, not very cool. I told her i was here to eat?? Duh!!! Ahe was surprised and picked the menu back up and found me a seat. If it weren't for this overweight mongrel, i would have given 5stars as the price was not bad for the food which tasted great. I came back with a friend my last day here in Hutchinson and the Lasagna was soooo dang delicious!!

Wow!! Food was amazing!! Atmosphere was great!!! Service was superb!! Sat at the bar and got to chat with the owner, who was extremely nice. He mentioned how he spent time renovating the place, and it just looks so great! Even the locals were accepting and willing to chat. Great place, def will make a trip there next time I'm in Hutch.

I was in Jillians today for the first time good atmosphere, although our server didn't seem very attentive didn't even introduce herself. Food was good but nothing memorable I had the turkey avacodo on spinach wrap it was nice and moist but felt like it was missing some spice or a touch of flavor. I would recommend this place for a laid back occasion, a date, or a business meeting.

Great atmosphere, very good food, good bar, and reasonable prices for Hutchinson's lone upscale eatery in the old train station. I tried the ravioli and the spicy seafood pasta, both of which were really quite good. If you're looking for a nice place to eat, and don't want to drive a long way out of town, this is it!

Jillians is literally the greatest restaurant I have ever been to. Not just in Hutch, literally anywhere in the world I've been to. The atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking for a great meal. The service is top of the line, and the food is just as good. There is a large selection of wines, and several local beers on tap, along with the fantastic bar staff. The design of the restaurant is classy, but very comfortable, making it the perfect place to eat for any occasion. In addition to the inside of the restaurant, there is a large outdoor patio area which hosts live music from time to time. I've lived here my whole life, and have yet to hear a single local say a single bad thing about Jillians. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

I first tried Jillian's in the fall of 2014 when I was in Hutchinson on business. I was so delighted to find such a wonderful, independently owned restaurant. I travel to a lot of small towns and usually get stuck with chain places. When I learned that I had to go back to Hutchinson earlier this week, I was delighted because I knew that I would be dining at Jillian's again! I suggest the wood fired pizzas. They also have a great beer selection, delicious homemade bread, and a wonderful ambiance. I doubt I'll ever be in Hutchinson again but if I am, I will once again schedule my day around dinner at Jillian's.

Great food and service. Impressive wine list. Toasted ravioli and calzone were very good, fresh ingredients, would recommend for anyone wanting some great Italian bistro. Staff was great.

Went here for the first time to have an anniversary dinner with my husband. We have four kids so it was nice to get out of the house and a very nice surprise to go somewhere with such a beautiful atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the wine and the menu. I had a glass of wine that the server recommended to go with my diver scallops and sweet corn purée. It was an excellent recommendation the wine went beautifully with the meal I ordered. The meal was; in a word, incredible!! Wonderful experience

My friend and I had a delightful evening at this treasure of a spot in Hutchison. The wine selection was much more than expected. We both enjoyed our meals but were most impressed by the hospitality. The downtown Hutchison location even offers a wonderful patio, great music. All in all a memorable experience. We will definitely go back if in the area.

In Hutch Kansas? Really? Elegant décor. Extensive menu. Good service. Reasonable prices. It had been years since my last visit to Jillian's so I just had to stop after spending a day at the state fair. Their lovely setting and delicious foods have not flagged at all. You can go quick and casual with a wood-fired pizza or you can dress up and dine elegantly on some generously cut meats. The wine list is extensive and flexible. Well worth the drive - from anywhere! Date of Visit: 11Sept2015

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
