Took my parents and a large group here for an anniversary dinner. I had the filet and my wife had the salmon. She loved it. I thought the steak was ok. The service was outstanding and the side dishes were good as well. The appetizer was not that good. Don't get me wrong, my steak wasn't bad it just wasn't worth being recognized as many have said to be the best steak around. I guess it's hard to get Ruth Chris quality in a small town. I will go back and try again next time I am in Hays.

We will be stopping here next time we are passing thru Hays. Loved the service, food and story! Everyone had something different and no one was disappointed!!

Adult grilled cheese sandwich was buttery to the core. Yummy. The waffle fries are amazing. My wife got a chicken sandwich with avocado on it (sorry, I don't recall the name) and I honestly was jealous of her decision until I took a bite of my grilled cheese. We'll be going back to switch orders soon. The staff was attentive although we were only one of two couples there. The food came in good time, and although it was 98 degrees outside, our piping hot sandwiches hit the spot.

If you're passing through give this local place a try. It's very good. Very small and unique place. It's a great place you can't find somewhere else.

We have been traveling for three weeks and had many meals in restaurants. Dinner at Trios was certainly the best meal we had since we started our travels. We had steak and salmon. The steak, twice baked potato and grilled green beans were delicious! The steak was so tender and tasty!! The customer service was great! We told the waitress to give our compliments to the chef and recommended it to the Hampton Inn where we stayed.

This is Hays premier restaurant. List of craft beers is exceptional along with friendly staff. Menu and quality of food is far above the label of a house pub. I stop in Hays every 6 weeks and this is the best stop in Hays.

It was late. We were tired. They took good care of us. Good food... good service and excellent cocktail.

Great food, excellent service! Best place to get a steak in town. Also reasonably quick. You can do lunch there without worrying about being late.

All the food tasted great. We had soft pretzel as an appetizer. I wish there was just a little more on plate, but mustard dipping sauce had a good flavor. We had a group of four and everyone seemed pleased with their entree selection. I had the fish n chips and it was excellent. Jenna our server was wonderful. They ran out of Bud Light, but luckily there were a lot of other beers on tap. The waitress did a good job of recommending something similar. The only negative is this restaurant is very small so it took a while to get a seat with just a group of four. And there is hardly any waiting area. It may be better once the newness wears off.

Great home made food. Wonderful beer selection. And taps rotate, you can try new beers on a monthly basis. This would be a great place to watch sports with the many flat screens. I got the CFS and loved it. Yum!

I give this place high regards because they have really cool old-time team sports photos on the walls. Their food is made well from fresh ingredients. The service was friendly and careful. I had the Bleu Steak salad with fresh greens, good Bleu Cheese, and while slightly less cooked than I like medium steak, -- a very well-seasoned steak thinly sliced on top. My wife had the Trio Chicken Chopped Salad. Very good. My boys had the cheeseburger -- delicious -- and the Buffalo Mac n' Cheese. Rarely does a restaurant bother to make their own chicken tenders -- this place does. Really good! The beer, of course, was excellent! Cheers!

My husband and I love to eat here! Great atmosphere and service. You cannot go wrong with their burgers. I recently tried their turkey avocado bacon sandwich which was wonderful! Highly recommend. Would have taken a picture but my sandwich was devoured before you could say cheese. Ha!

Very slow to seat. And it was slow, at lunch hour. Very slow service and food. Food quality was good.

Yes, great beer selection! But if you are a vegetarian this isn't the place for you. If you prefer not to have "sweet" or "maple syrup" as part of the ingredients of your veggies this isn't the place for you. I will say the waiter and host were both friendly. I just would of liked to see some healthier choices.

I bookmarked this restaurant after seeing other reviews. I needed to finish up some work and eat at the same time. Upon entering it wasn't very crowded (I did get there kind of early for dinner). The hostess and staff were very welcoming and friendly. I let her know that I had some work to do and she took me to a table large enough for me to have some workspace, and she also pointed out that a power outlet was near in case I needed it. She then let me know my waiter, Colten, would be over shortly. The service was very quick. In no time my waiter was there, ready to take my drink order. I ordered a Moscow Mule as I have been on a Ginger Beer kick recently. It was properly delicious and served in the traditional copper mug. I also ordered a water which was never less than half full. They have a full bar and large beer selection. For a starter I ordered the "Handcrafted Chicken Tenders" with their Buffalo & Blue Fire Sauce (and a side of Ranch). The tenders were served with carrots and celery as well. The tenders were cooked perfectly, breaded just enough, and they did not have a heavy deep fried feel or taste. If I had to guess I'd say they were pan fried to perfection. The sauce was delicious, not some cheap hot sauce and butter concoction you'd find at other places. I finished up my work before ordering dinner. I had another Moscow Mule because the first was so good. I ordered the Grilled Smoked Turkey Bacon & Avocado Sandwich. I got it minus tomato and ordered sweet potato fries for my side. There wasn't any left, the plate was perfectly clean (just like with the tenders). The bread for the sandwich was delicious, Focaccia, I haven't had a sandwich like it before. I was more than satisfied with my visit...the food, atmosphere, and staff were all great. As the night progressed the restaurant did fill up but the service never declined. If I'm ever back in Hays, I'll be eating here again!

Fantastic place and nice change for the Hays area. Trio was a great experience and great environment. The beers on tap are some of the best across the midwest and I was happy to see they started to carry Breckenridge Brews! The chicken fried steak was incredible and service was tops. Loved it!

Enjoyed good food and service at Trio's last night. Very friendly place and classy decor. Can't believe what happened. We greeted a family with four beautiful children and when we got our check, the family paid for our meals.

The food was good. But the atmosphere was not very inviting for what I was expecting for a "tap house." It seems as though the atmosphere is confused between wanting to draw in a younger crowd but also pleasing the older crowd. Overall I enjoyed food but didn't enjoy the atmosphere.

We fould this really nice place in Hays when had thought there was not many options besides fast food in town. Great decor. Not far from the interstate. Started with better than typical garden salad. We had the prime filet and it was a melt in your mouth steak with thin string beans that were sweet with bacon, plus perfectly cooked asparagus. This is our new favorite in town when passing through Hays on the way to some place else we would rather be.

Good idea, poor execution. A Gastropub is supposed to have high end food and beer. It's beer on tap selection would not impress any craft beer enthusiast. Even the bottle selection was mediocre. The food was okay, but nothing special. Hopefully, this is just a function of being new and that there beer selection will improve.

What a gem for Hays! Living in New York, pubs are commonplace in my life. But having grown up in western Kansas, I haven't seen any restaurant in the area offer what Trio had. Environment was awesome--chill, relaxing. Could watch NBA finals on one TV and PGA golf on another, while listening to some Frank Sinatra. About a dozen beers on tap--ranging from Guinness to Magic Hat to Shinerbock. (I got their Prohibition lemonade--a whiskey lemonade that was incredibly refreshing) Really flavorful food. Tried a handful of things with our table. Get the onion rings to start--killer. Had some of my girlfriend's burger--whoa. Get it. I got the filet--flavor was bursting, cooked to my liking. Go.

My wife and I had dinner at 8 pm on a Thursday. Casual dress this is an up scale sports bar. The restaurant was packed with 1 large birthday party of 12 and two groups of 6, so crowded but not to loud. Our server did a good job, paid attention but did not hover. I had the chopped chicken salad, my wife had the smoked turkey she liked the portion and the smoke turkey flavor. The chicken was cooked very nicely and the dressing tasted home made like they claim. Very limited wine selection but I enjoyed my Bock. Next time I am in Hays I will visit again.

Found this place on yelp. Food was excellent. Fresh asparagus, sinful macaroni and cheese, fabulous smoked turkey sandwich with avocado. Will definitely go again when I'm in town and will recommend to my friends and colleagues.
