I eat a lot of pizza. If you are not from small town yourself, you may not consider getting pizza from a convenience store from a neighboring town. Unless, that is, if you have experienced a Casey's carry out pizza from before. I am from a small rural town, that only recently added a Sonic to the mix, and all the locally owned eateries, close when the sidewalks roll up at sundown. If you get hungry in the after hours Casey's is your only option. The Bacon Cheeseburger pizza is not a Casey's exclusive, and I know that other KC pizzerias offer it, but Casey's is far and above the others with the taste sensation that I bring home in a box. Bacon, Hamburger and cheese, with onions in a mustard/ketchup like tomato sauce. Not something that you might think you will like. I turned up my nose when someone suggested I try it. LOVE IT!!! If you are a calorie counter, tune out right now.. It is not healthy or good for your waistline. Thus, I look like I do. But if you have a passion for bacon laced food...This is your Mecca. Their sauce combination is more inviting to me than the KC choices for this pizza. I have also strayed to other flavors of their pizza when my unadventurous dining companions grumble about eating a mustard based pizza. The supreme, and the single meat selections are also top notch. I think it may be the crust that sets it apart. Not thin-not thick-not too chewy. Imagine a combo of all three of those.... There are not too many Casey's available in the KC Metro, so my closest connection is in Eudora KS. a 10 minute drive for me. A summer staple is to call the order in, take some drinks and napkins, load the dog and/or kids in the car and make a picnic at the Eudora park. A breather from the city rat race in one evening.
Love the food here. Ribs are amazing and so is the pulled pork. My suggestion is have them add diced onions to it (just my favorite way to eat it.). The baked beans are homemade and consistent every time I go there. If you aren't in the mood for BBQ try the hand breaded tenderloin sandwich it is quite large and can be two meals for some people. Live music in Eudora!! Yes sir! Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Most musicians play folk, oldies, classic rock etc. nothing to heavy. If you want to try a family restaurant instead of the big BBQ chains. Check this place out.
Words cannot explain how much I wanted to like this place. In Chicago or NY or LA it would do well and be above average. However, I must compare it to KC, and compared to KC, it lacks. My combo sandwich had turkey, brisket and (I think) ham. It came out quickly, but was not terribly warm. Not cold, but not as warm as usual or as warm as it should have been. This was at 12pm on a weekday - prime lunchtime and just one hour after opening. Aside from the brisket, it tasted lunch meat-esque. The brisket was decent. The roll was a standard grocery store roll. Sauce is ok - a bit too sweet for my liking, and served cold (not room temp), bringing the already lukewarm meat even further down in temperature. Also had a side of beans which...well, honestly tasted like Bush's Baked Beans. Same texture and consistency too. Service is great, prices are fine. However, the BBQ itself is just...ho hum all the way.
Amazing BBQ! Copperhead beer and great sides. Doesn't get any better! Service is good and portions are generous. Good for lunch or dinner. This is a real gem in little old Eudora.
