Cute little cafe with amazing food. Probably the best chicken salad I have ever had. Who would have thought of putting cilantro, lime, and pineapple in chicken salad?! Well, they did and it is amazing. Will for sure be back next time I am in town!
A hidden gem that we stumbled upon making our way from Denver to Lawrence. Hopped on Yelp to find a local spot with healthier options than the fast food chains right of the highway. The menu changes every Monday, and the ham and cheese with country black bean soup hit the spot on a cold Wednesday afternoon. They do not accept credit cards, but do not let this keep you from checking this place out. It keeps their prices low, which we surely appreciated. Keep up the great work!
This is one if my favorite places to eat anywhere! Ann is an excellent chef using fresh ingredients while rotating the menu every week. I love her amazing deserts too! If you're in Abilene during lunch time don't miss it!

The upside: Good menu with options for all palates including vegetarian. Lively atmosphere - casual dress and inexpensive price points. The downside: long wait for the host to see us and seat us while multiple waitstaff passed us standing at the door without acknowledging our presence, waitress brought salad but failed to notice that we had no utensils. The save - the host saw we needed utensils and napkins and quickly brought them over. We can recommend the catfish and the garden nachos. Ike's Place is a good option for dinner in Abilene but the service could be sharper.
Great place! Been here twice both times passing through, and both times were around 7pm, expected to have to wait to be seated with a group of 11 people, but both times was accommodated quickly! Food was really great too! Nice friendly staff, and great drink and food specials! Had the same waitress both times, (forgot her name-_-) but she was the greatest! Food took a little longer, but quick and at the same time with a group of 11! Overall 99.2%. It's a family friendly place, with a bar atmosphere. There are booths, tables, and bar seating. Awesome environment! Definately going to go again if we pass through nearby. Thanks!
My salmon salad was wonderful! The menu posted online did not correspond to the menu that I now use. Just be aware of that before you go.

The food wasn't perfect. But it was damn good! Iove Chinese food. This is the best I've had in years. I travel all over the united states. So for a small town in Kansas I'm shocked. I didn't do buffet I got pick up. So I don't know about the buffet. I will go back. Maybe this week.
Food is alright but unfortunately Abilene doesn't have any other options. Dining in gives you the option to eat buffet style which offers a good variety of items. Price is reasonable. Wish the delivered. Abilene is so small so I don't know why that's not an option.
Good place to eat buffet style and good selection. Has quickly become a favorite place to eat here in town.

We yelled this place while we were going to Abilene to go on the trains. At first glance there is nothing to be impressed about. Same thing once you walked in the door. Other then that this place is really good. The food was amazing, and reasonably priced. Their pancakes were about 10inches and well priced at $3 a piece. I myself had the All-American with two eggs, hashbrowns, my choice of meat and toast. This was really good and again reasonable priced. For two adults, and two children came to $26. If this was a cracker barrel or ihop this would of been closer to 40 or more dollars. I will definitely go back to this place when I go back to Abilene.
Worth a stop of I 70. Had the fried chicken special for Sunday brunch. All home made sides, deeeelicious. Service by Heather, awesome. Had to get a mug as a souvenir.
We love this place! I found Joe Snuffy's via a Yelp review which read, "Get past the unassuming exterior to the gem inside," and I'm so glad I did! Great food, wonderful service, full service bar. Everything on the menu is yummy and the portions are huge. All around a great place to eat!

The pizza we had was Super delish no greasyness. The crust is great my great grandson loved it along with all our good stuff on top Had pepperoni, hamburger, sasauge ham, bacon&cheese was wonderful will replace pizza hut for our family:)
Butter crust pizza! Doesn't matter how you like your toppings, get the butter crust and you won't be disappointed!
I really enjoy this place! It is so nice to go to a pizza place, or restaurant in general, where you can tell that the ingredients are made fresh on site! While we were there tonight, we saw them making the red sauce, grating the cheese, and preparing to make dough! You never see that at the big pizza chain, because their stuff is frozen and just plain nasty. I'm a fan and highly recommend this place!!

The Air Capital Miata Club made its Annual Fall Fun Run to Abilene and had the pleasure of eating at the M&R Grill. Service was good and the food was very good. Relaxing atmosphere where we had the opportunity to talk about our Miatas. The food was good and we were served generous portions. The ACMC highly recommends lunch at the M&R Grill if ever in Abilene, Ks.
Good, service, quality and taste are always consistent. The steak fajita salad is a favorite!
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Had the pretzel burger which was kind of a disappointment. Had no flavor other than a charred taste. On a previous visit I had a steak which was pretty good. I'd visit again

Abilene’s Victorian Inn

Reviews:
I am aghast. I tried to book a room at a B&B in Abilene, Kansas a couple years ago. I asked some general questions and decided to book. The owner asked for my name (I told her) and my wife's name (ummmm....there's no wife). I told her the name of the other guest (a man). I was asked if I wanted two rooms (NO). Did I want 2 beds? (NO). I was informed that they will not rent to same-sex couples. I was speechless. Dumbfounded. Really? In this day and age? You would turn down $100/night? She did offer the name of another B&B that allows same-sex couples, but still..... I suppose the inn is as lovely as the photographic depictions on the website. I cannot say for sure, since it was made clear that my partner and I were not welcome. As a result, the local Holiday Inn Express did get my business. It was comfortable, had a pool, was less expensive and such private matters as sexual identity weren't conditions for securing lodging. If you are a same sex couple, know that you are not welcome at this establishment (unless, perhaps, you wish to pay for separate rooms and contribute financially to innkeepers with discriminatory practices). To all others, please avoid Abilene's Victorian Inn. Discrimination is simply unacceptable. Note: Their website does say the following under POLICIES: "Overnight accommodations for singles and traditional couples." Also note that POLICIES is a tiny link at the very bottom of their web pages. It is not listed in the prominent main banner at the top of the pages. When I visited the POLICY page, I was looking for the cancellation policy. I wouldn't think to look for a "who is welcome and who is not" policy.
This place is sweeter than a cake made of pie. A lot of it's been restored to its 1880s style; it's a lovely old home in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We stayed in the Eisenhower room (complete with a giant picture of Ike!) and it was comfortable and well-kept. The balcony is fantastic. One of the owners had fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies ready for us when we checked in (!!!!). Our suite had a (tiny! so tiny) bathroom. We were shown the cabinet full of VHS tapes in case we wanted to watch a movie (ADORABLE). But here's the best part - you know how most B&Bs throw some danish and a cup of coffee at you in the morning? Not this place. They asked my husband when he booked if we had any dietary restrictions and he mentioned that I avoid wheat when I can, but that it's not really a big deal. And when the breakfast part of the B&B experience came around... there was an epically delicious frittata, orange juice, coffee, fresh fruit, and while the other guests had fresh-baked biscuits, I got a big ol' slice of HOMEMADE, gluten-free banana bread. I am not even freaking kidding, you guys. How amazing is that? If we ever have a reason to stay in Abilene again, we'll be staying here.
Adrien went out of her way to be accommodating, checking for food intolerances, and making us a delicious, gourmet gluten-free breakfast. The decor is lovely and period and the ambiance charming. Our room was large and well-appointed and we had a perfect stay. I highly recommend this inn.

Awesome food service and atmosphere you are truly missing out if you so not come here
Great restaurant for the traveler passing through. Good service. Good food. Great prices. Recommended.
This restaurant is next door to the Best Value Inn, and is really part of the motel complex. The entrees were inexpensive, tasty, and huge. I brought 2 teenage boys with me, and they couldn't finish their meals. Almost all the entrees were less than $10, except for the seafood entrees. I had the cheese enchiladas, that were smothered with pork chunks in a sauce of tomatos, peppers, and onion. Unusual, but very tasty. The three of us were stuffed full as ticks for $25 at a sit down restaurant for the dinner meal.

Love Taco Grande. So happy to come across one on our trip to Abilene. Great food, friendly service. So much better than the big chains. Dining room was small and crowded but it was worth it to get the tacos of my youth.
I hate to do a bad review. But it wasn't all that. I can do better at home. Its not what I expected at all. Maybe I'll try it again another day just to make sure I didn't catch them at a bad time. They put so much cheese on my food that I couldn't eat it. I love cheese but damn. Way to much. The sauce taste like ketchup. The nacho cheese was good real good. The soda tasted bad too.
Good tacos, love the sauce but they don't like to give it up! Haven't had anything bad from them. Delivery is fast and convenient, although they forgot the sauce (again). It's a little pricey for fast mexican food, but good.

Right off the bat I'd like to say- Check the restaurant Business Hours. They're a little wonky so make sure you plan ahead!!!! Now on to my review! I love fried chicken. This place has probably the second best Fried Chicken I've ever had! It's perfect- crispy, juicy, and delicious! You won't have to worry about oiliness or the chicken being too dry- these people know their fried chicken. I loved all the sides- even the coleslaw- which I'm not usually a fan of was wiped clean! And don't get me started on the Baking Soda Biscuits! I can't believe how fluffy they are- they practically melt in your mouth! This is one of the places that just knows what good old fashioned comfort food is- and boy do they do it right. The portion sizes are VERY generous! Each adult gets half a chicken (Breast, Thigh, Wing, Drumstick) We ended up bringing two large containers home- and they were just as good the next night. Service was very good, quick, and friendly. I'd suggest this to anyone who likes fried chicken/comfort food! The place is definitely a time warp- Everything from the food, decoration, and even the waitress's attire is a throwback! Definitely a unique one of a kind restaurant you won't find anywhere else.
We had the worst experience at this place. The waitress yelled out us because one person in our reservation did not make it. From the time we showed up the manager was extremely rude. They tried to force us out the door and charged our child an adult meal because we didn't specify in our reservation his age. I will never go back. The owner must replace this manager. She is bad news.
Nice family style dinner. We went as a large group, welcomed by the current owners. This establishment has been around since the 1800's, they had another location, close by to the one here . Famous for their chicken & sides, very good
