Okay, first up, full disclosure: I live walking distance from this bar, so it is always going to be A-OK with me since I don't have to drive. More full disclosure: this is the first Indiana bar I've reviewed - I moved to Indianapolis area after 20 years in Georgia, so some things that I don't like might simply be regional / cultural differences. What I like about DC's: besides the conveninece to my residence, it is a spacious place, and neat and clean. There are pool tables, a long, inviting bar, plenty of seating, and most of it is booths with high backs that offer a modicum of privacy for you and your group. They usually seem to have the place well-staffed, with plenty of servers on the floor. For the most part, the staff is friendly and likeable. There is also an upper area (like balcony seating), but I've neer seen it used, so I suspect it is a "rental" space. The pub is essentially a Sport's Bar, so there are lots of TVs - from large projection screens on two walls, to many smaller screens. You won't hurt for a veiw of the game or games. They also have the wireless national trivia game, and a coin operated machine at the end of the bar with various games; I also saw a few stand-up video games (Golden Tee, I think). In addition, they have free wi-fi, so bring your laptop, if you like. They feature live music, and I've never seen a cover charge, so that's nice. The few bands I've heard tend to be acoustic or duo singer/songwriter types doing covers - they are okay. The drink specials are pretty good -- $2 Bud or Bud Light bottles, and usually a $4.00 Jaeger Bomb; different nights are different specials, but if you are a beer drinker, this is not a bad place to suck down some brew. Liquor drinkers, see below. What I don't like: the smoking is the biggest pain. I'm accustomed to smoke-free environments in Atlanta, and DC's is all smoking, all the time. Of course, it's a sports pub, so that is not that surprising. The other thing I'm not a fan of is the food -- the menu is very large and diverse, but almost everything I've tried is barely adequate. I thought the burgers were especially awful, despite the paragraph description about how the beef is triple ground and seasoned with some family recipe. The fried food does slightly better, but all ends up tasting somewhat the same. Their wings are the best thing I've tried; the food is edible, but it is certainly NOT why I would recommend this place. Also, their drinks seem like weak pours (about a 2 count, I'd say), and their prices seem slightly elevated for liquor drinks; naturally, I realize that as you frequent a place and get to know people better, you generally see a "heavier hand" with the drinks -- and maybe this is a Southern vs. MidWest thing, but I've been there well over 2 dozen times and I tip well and I know most of the staff (especially bar staff) by name, and yet, I see no real change in my drinks. $6 for a Sapphire and Tonic and it tastes like you waved the gin bottle at a glass of tonic? No thank you, I'll go back to the $2 Bud Lights and the Bud/Bud Light pitcher specials. Finally, the crowd is weird - I mean, I've met some decent folks there, but it's like every time you walk in the place you get an entirely different crowd / vibe. I honestly never know if I'm going to meet grizzled 60-somethings at the bar swapping war stories, or a bunch of 20-somethings embroiled in their latest dysfunctional drama, or just a couple of cool, chill folks having a drink and a smoke after work. It gets even more schizo on the weekends, and other times, the place is dead. The crowd is a total roll of the dice. But, as I said, I can walk there, so you'll find me there again and again.

So not only did the waitress lie about the cost of the drinks, the food was absolutely terrible. The wings were dry, the chicken wrap had almost no chicken, and we were charged extra for fries that came with our meals. After the $150 we spent for 4 people we decided to play a game of pool. During our 2nd game one of the workers came over to let us know that another group wanted the table so we had to hurry and finish our game. Never coming back here again. Over charged, terrible service, and no concept of customer service. Thumbs down!

I gotta be honest, I do like this place... Friendly, clean, decent bar food. However, they are the most astonishingly overpriced bars you will ever experience. As an example, a 1-oz (yes, you heard me right) shot of well tequila is $4.50. A Corona (yes, a Corona) is 6. You go there for a single beer and a 2-oz shot you're spending $17.00 with tip. They wonder where all their customers are...

Tried the new build a burger 50/50. It was KILLER. Probably a heart attack waiting to happen but GREAT! You gotta die from something! The unknown diner digs it!

Super high prices, the food proportions are way off, and the food quality doesn't meet the price. Also the owner is beyond rude with his Facebook posts and call outs of customers. I've attached the screen shot of what I'm talking about. Plus I should add all the positive reviews were prior to the current owner taking over Jan 1st 2013

This used to be a good place to go and grab a drink and some food, now the drink prices are outrageous and the food is not good at all. The servers are very nice and the bartender was good. Who ever owns this place is running it into the ground. Don't waste your time or money going here. Who knows, it might just be me being viewed as a "low class customer".

Food is pretty good, but way overpriced as many others have commented. Cost and value are different concepts. No value in coming here.

Very nice place that had a really nice bartender and waitress but the drinks were WAY overpriced. I ordered a Markers Mark on the rocks (about the only bourbon they carried besided Jack) and it was $7.50 for about a one ounce pour. Then I ordered a couple pints of Sam Adams (draft beer) when I got the bill they were $8.25 each!! Thats probably the most expensive draft beer I have had anywhere. Ordered the 50/50 burger and it was just okay. Then we decided to play some pool and some drunk guy kept pestering us about wanting to shoot with us. Even after turning him down several times he just kept hanging around and wouldn't leave. He was stumbling around and should have been cut off but they kept serving him. I would not go back.

I had high hopes. My friends raved about the burgers, so naturally I ordered on. I got the 50/50 with bacon and Swiss. I keep them simple so I can taste the meat. Before I was done ordering the waiter walked away. I wanted to try the Mac n cheese. My girlfriend chased him down and ordered it for me. Not a good choice. Tasted like butter noodles with Panko breading. We tried a cup of chili, it was pretty good . My burger was dry, not sure if you can order different temps. On the burger, the waiter never stuck around long enough to ask. So here I sit needing another beer to wash down the dry ass burger. I think we're gonna pack it up and go somewhere with better service.

I'm one to give every establishment a second chance. In this case, I was so dissatisfied I will not. Myself, my girlfriend, and my two friends went in for drinks and food. The food was absolutely sub par, the drinks were watered down, and the staff was oblivious at best. After we paid our $100 bill, we decided to play some pool. We were PAYING customers. In the middle of our second game, the owner informed us that we would have to hurry and finish because someone else wanted the table. After the treatment we received at a bar we had just patronized for over $100, I will never return and will advise anyone I know to avoid this bar.

Something has happened to this place and not in a good way. Won't go back used to be a monthly choice 3 strikes and your out and without a care when we said make it right or were not coming back. Wasn't made right and not going back

I'm a fan of DC's because it has always been a nice place to take friends and it is, like others have said, right in the neighborhood, which has some benefits. The other evening, St. Pat's Weekend, I ordered some wings which were very good - not too crazy hot - and some adult beverages and even though it was a pretty busy night, our server was excellent and on top of things. I also must point out that DC's frequently has live music, which is a nice touch - they had karaoke for a while, which was fun and I wouldn't mind them bringing that back!

We came in for dinner on Cinco De Mayo, because the mexican place was packed, go figure. It was not super busy, but for a Monday night it was probably more than they expected. The wait staff was nice, but not well organized and very slow. The food was below average bar food, about hamberger helper level. Servers did a better job of serving drinkers than eaters. It took about 90 minutes to be served for an average dinner, I hope I dont that desperate again. The mexican down the way is great with great service, will be back there

$8.50 for a 23oz draught beer??? REALLY??? This bar has gone down hill the last couple years, and I will not be returning. Bartenders and waitresses are very nice, but with prices like that, they will not make much of a tip. I have also heard that their mixed drinks are outrageous in price too! This owner needs to WAKE UP!!

This is close to our house & we've been here several times. They went non-smoking & new management so we thought we'd try again since the food is pretty good and it's close to home but new management/old management the service was horrible then & is horrible still. Last night on my way home I had my husband meet me up there, we like to sit on the patio & it was nice out. He had ordered & requested the food for 7. I arrived, the food came out a little after, no big deal. What was the big deal was that I was not asked if I wanted anything to drink the ENTIRE time, I had to share my husbands almost gone water. We were not brought silverware/napkins and I had to ask for condiments. She brought the food out & didn't speak. We weren't checked on after that. Getting waited on in this place is impossible A few weeks ago we went there to split a tenderloin sandwich. It took 45 minutes & there was only 10-12 other people in the whole place. We were given an excuse that a to-go order held us up. You are in the restaurant business what do you mean a to-go order held you up? If you can't handle more than 3 orders at a time then you need to shut the doors! We weren't checked back on by our server on this visit either. They drop the food & go, no offering of refills..NOTHING. We will not be going back again.

Ok. Gave it the old college try again. Will never return. Highest prices for mediocre food I have ever seen.

Not a bad place. There are a lot of TV's and the beer is cold. If you don't like smoke... don't come here. I don't smoke but enjoy hanging out with my friends that do; and after about 7:30pm on any given night, it gets SMOKEY. The food is ok. The fried pickles are a favorite of mine. Sometimes they use a little too much batter but since there's no Hooters around; it works. They work up their burger to be a big deal since they only make 88 per day; but it's not "that" special. It has a real strong onion taste and it seems like the patty has been ground too many times. It's very crumbly. The service is hit or miss. We have had awesome; witty waiters or waitresses and we have also had some bad ones. But, all the staff there currently is pretty solid! Overall, one of the better bars in Zionsville.

Dined with them on Thursday evening. Had the sirloin special. Usually a fairly good place to eat but this steak was really bad. It didn't even look like a steak, more like a round piece of tough meat. Overcooked to some degree on the outside and raw in the middle. Commented to waitress but no management came to our table. $50 meal for our dogs. Probably wont be back.
