For its location and when comparing it to other available nearby restaurants, Copper Top is definitely four (4) stars. It is plunked in the middle of rural Wolcottville and you can observe Amish buggies driving by during your meal. The restaurant has been beautifully remodeled, with...yes...shiny copper tinged table tops, and a refinished ceiling and restrooms. It is also non-smoking, but there is an outdoor patio where I'm told that smokers and the motorcyclers hang out during the warmer months. We visited during lunch time on a weekend; since it was slower, the bartender was also working as a server, and was very friendly. I read others' comments on professional appearance; the bartender was wearing a hooded sweatshirt...but Copper Top was embroidered on the side...so there are your server "uniforms". Two of my dining mates ordered salads, the spinach salad with warmed bacon dressing and Cobb salad. Both looked to contain very fresh ingredients, and it was nice to see that Copper Top doesn't rely on bland iceberg or romaine in its salads. The spinach eater proclaimed it was the best warmed spinach salad he ever had. My mom ordered a 1/2 order of fish and chips, and the jalapeno chicken soup. The soup was nicely spiced, with chopped fresh greens added in. The fish and chips were average with too greasy batter, but the mayo-based dipping sauce helped to elevate it a bit. I ordered the Italian calzone, with ricotta, mozzarella, Italian sausage and basil pesto. I know this is a stereotypical assumption about rural eateries...but the availability of basil pesto...in this part of Indiana....awesome! The calzone was baked a wonderful golden brown, was enormous and very delicious. My only recommendation would be to add some type of dipping marinara or other sauce to the dish. I ended up taking home half of it. I heard that Copper Top is very busy during the summer months, so I was happy to be able to squeeze in a visit during this dreary winter.

Never had bad food here... Service with the manager they have "Becky" is always the worst service you will get and very rude.. The food always made it better, but with that being said Our group had the worse food I think any of us has ever had on Saturday Night"4/25/2015... They blamed it on not having there normal cook Jake and said one of the owners was cooking, Well if that's the case All I can say is WOW.. When we said something that's what we were told and they did not offer to fix anything.. So I think a call to the BBB will be my next step.. Thanks Hope this was helpful!!!!

Love this place! We camp nearby & have been here about 6 times. Last night 7 of us went. We had the Lobster Dip appetizer (we ate so fast I didn't get a picture) , breaded mushrooms (that were ok). The Double Cheeseburger special with side was $5.99 & well worth every penny. The Fish & Chips were heavily breaded & very greasy (this one will be avoided in the future) & the Pizza... another couple we were with ordered the Supreme Pizza. I didn't taste it, but they order the same pizza every time & they love it. Now, for myself, I haven't been able to order anything but the Buried Salad. This is a salad with a hamburger buried under a delish mound of assorted greens with homemade house dressing. I want to taste other items on the menu, but this salad pulls me back every time. It's that good. It's only $9. & I have never been able to finish it. It may have been a miss with the Fish & Chips but we will continue to return.

It's always nice when you find a place that is biker friendly and has good food & friendly service. My boyfriend and I rode out there twice last summer and once about a month ago. They have designated bike parking on concrete. Service: The service has been excellent every time we have been in there. I will agree with Sarah more professional attire would be nice. When we had leftovers our server put it all together for us (in containers that fit nicely in saddlebags) and double bagged them. Food: We enjoyed most of what we had last year and everything we had on our last trip there. I got a burger that was too well done for my taste and I wasn't a big fan of their seafood dip. What I did enjoy was the prime rib, wings, mushrooms and the smothered potato chips. Atmosphere: Very nice interior, very small or as realtor would put it "cozy". The outside deck is great! They are now open on Sundays which we think is great. We went out there with about 8 bikes and everyone that went with us has done nothing but rave about how much they enjoyed it and want to go back. We are planning another ride out there and will probably have about 20 bikes since so many people have been talking about it. Keep up the good work Copper Top.

We went to Coppertop last weekend. Just because it is in the middle of nowhere and not a super appealing looking restaurant , I was a bit skeptical. Boy was I mistaken. My husband and I both had burgers and thoroughly enjoyed them. They were huge juicy and flavorful. I added the fried mushrooms to my burger. They were absolutely awesome. Lightly handbreaded with perfect texture and nicely seasoned. Definitely made fresh. I honestly can't stop thinking about them. Coppertop has a great craft beer list. The restaurant was clean and our server was attentive. I believe they offer outdoor seating with some live music. We are definitely going back.

My wife and I go on a "Burger Quest" in northern Indiana every Thursday and then my wife posts her review on her facebook page. This is our review from today. Burger Quest - Week 25: DRUMROLL, PLEASE!!!! We are about to publish our review of the best burger we've had (bar none) since we've started our quest. On this week's trek we took a lazy journey through the well-kept and beautifully manicured farms of Amish country to CopperTop Tavern, nestled between Topeka and Wolcottville on W 700 S. Although the building is small, the atmosphere and décor is sophisticated and friendly with its tudor-style walls, copper-top tables and rich dark woods. CopperTop offers 10 half-pound Specialty Angus Burgers priced from $8.00 to $11.99, each accompanied by French fries. The fries can be substituted for hand-breaded mushrooms at $2.99 extra. With such a wide variety it was difficult for us to decide whether to order the Grilled Cheese & Burger on sourdough, Slaw Burger, Mushroom & Swiss, Blackened Buffalo Bleu, Big CopperTop, Peanut Butter, Big Island, In & Out Burger, or the Hillbilly. Scott went for the In & Out Burger which was topped with bacon jam, muenster cheese, fries, lettuce, tomato and special sauce, served on a brioche bun. I just had to try the Big CopperTop which comes dressed with bacon jam, cheddar cheese, fried pickles, onion rings, lettuce, tomato and special sauce and served on a pretzel bun. Each burger was garnished with a skewer sporting a grape tomato, one cheese tortellini, and olive and a salami rosette. I swapped the fries for the mushrooms and I'm so glad I did. Although the fries are golden perfection, you can't find mushrooms like CopperTop's anywhere else. Our first bare burger bite was unbelievably incredible. These were the only burgers we've ever encountered that have the taste and texture of filet mignon! They were chargrilled to perfection and were so wonderfully steak-like that we could've eaten them plain with a glass of Cabernet instead of on buns with a beer. Next we were faced with our method of attack on those bovine beauties. I smashed mine down and cut it in half but Scottie dug right in. Even with all the flavors of the toppings, that bountiful beef shown through with every bite. Amazingly, everything on the sandwiches shown through. The flavor of each topping burst individually and distinctly. Nothing overshadowed or overpowered any of its bun-mates. I ran out of steam toward the end of half of my sandwich. But Scottie, always the trooper, forged ahead until he finished the last bite (except for most of the fries). We whole-heartedly recommend that anyone make the journey to CopperTop Tavern as it has definitely soared to #1 on our list of burger destinations. However, we are planning a return trip very soon to enjoy some of the other enticing riches on the menu. This establishment is truly a shining star in the center of Indiana's heartland. FYI: Full bar service is available but smoking is prohibited. Miners are allowed in the dining room only. Service is impeccable and cleanliness is top-notch. Phyllis Greener Gates's photo.

This place is out in the middle of nowhere and you can see it for miles because of all the people that are there. The food is really good and it is a cool place to party, oh and the best part really well priced. It is a must try check out the pictures it will sell you on this place.

Good burgers and nice selection of beers. Very small not much seating and can get very noisy. Over all food is not bad location is not good for bad weather and prices are a little steep for quality of the food.

Went to Coppertop and grabbed some carry out, I was VERY pleasantly suprised to see a new menu, and let me tell you wow. The menu is very exciting, I know I am looking forward to trying just about everything! This time I tried the Big Islander, Hillbilly and of course the pretzel balls with beer cheese! Amazing, that about sums it up. The cook Ashley did pretty great considering this was her first time with this menu, my burgers were cooked perfect and you could tell that care was taken with putting together and plating my food! Becky the bartender/server was very funny and helpful! I will be going back to try more new items!

Never would've found this place, had we not gone there with friends. It really is in cornfield country. The food is good the service is good, it has a full-bar, and a good beer selection. The place was busy when we were there. It's summer so we sat outside. Inside is pretty small, but quaint. If you can find this place...it's worth getting lost for.

I've had some great meals over the last few years, but I think last night it topped them all! One of their specials was a pork filet wrapped in bacon with a side of macaroni and cheese. The pork was cooked just the way I like it, a slightly pink center, and the macaroni and cheese was the best I have ever tasted! I would like to see the mac and cheese as a regular side item on the menu! Kudos to the chef!

Burgers are very very tasty! Ate the whole thing and enjoyed every bite. Staff did a great job of fussing over us once we got seated. Salad had plentiful amounts of secondary ingredients and wife says it was great too. Not a big place and pretty crowded on a Monday. That means something.

What a pleasant surprise! We are summer residents, and the bar / restaurant choices are somewhat limited, and places seem to come and go, so I sure hope this place stays around for a good while. If you haven't tried this place, you really ought to. We tried just a little bit if everything - apps, sandwiches, pizza, etc. - liked everything we had. Cannot wait til the ice comes off the lake so we can head that way and visit it again!

This is not an area of Indiana where you would imagine coming across a tavern such as Copper Top. This is literally amish country - where it would be odd to not see horse manure sprawled across the road. But, back to the restaurant. It's a small place, so if it gets even slightly busy - you're cramped. The setting is great, though. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind with the people down the street or fellow coworkers. You can watch the game, grab a beer, chat it up and just enjoy. It may be that I have worked in the restaurant industry before, but when I see waitresses walking around in jeans and a sweatshirt, it's hard to take them seriously. I get that it's a bar, but really? Try getting something that matches. Please. ha

For the price, I expected better. We visited with my parents after they had a great experience there. However on this visit, we were all disappointed. The calamari appetizer was bland and chewier than good calamari should be. For the main course, 3 of the 4 meals were undercooked in some way - hard veggies, raw steak and nearly-raw salmon. The walleye and salmon both tasted very "fishy" - not something you find with fresh, quality fish. IF I went back, I would stick to the sandwiches and pizzas - their pricier fare doesn't seem to have the consistency to make it worth it.

Really liked this place. We had the supreme pizza..excellent, and the spinach bacon salad..again excellent. We split these 3 ways...it was plenty of food. The waitress was very good. The atmosphere was awesome. Oh and the beer is cheap...they also make a good black and tan. The place is small..40 seats on the restaurant side and 35 on the bar side...so you might have to wait...and starting July 1 st...no smoking in the bar...another plus.
