Really good option off the interstate. Cobb salad with sirloin steak subbed for chicken breast was delicious, as was the bottomless unsweet tea and fresh, fluffy bread with whipped butter. Nothing fancy, just yummy, filling bar food. Beer selection looked good and our waitress Jane was awesome.

I absolutely LOVE this place. We stopped here on the way back from Chicago. the place was nearly empty because it was around 4pm. I had some great draught beer (Weihenstephan), a salad, huge ribs, and an amazing sweet potato. The food was excellent, but I was most impressed by the waitstaff, who were really friendly and chatty. I am sure this is a different place when it's busy, but I enjoyed our stop in and would stop here again if driving through the area. It's right off the highway, so it's easy to get to.

We ate there last year and it was amazing!! The steaks were incredible and they had some wonderful pinot noir (hard to find sometimes). The staff was very attentive and bent over backwards to serve us. I highly recommend this place and will be back!

Really like this restaurant. For its location, you can't complain about the beer selection. The food was very good - I had the house cut ribeye, cooked to perfection and was as good a steak as I've had at the expensive places. Service was very good - we weren't in any hurry and that didn't bother our server at all. He was prompt without pushing us. I will definitely visit here more often.

It's a very nice restaurant. The steak is delicious and have a great sweet potatoe for the perfect meal. The restaurant has a bar with plenty of tvs, outside sitting and banquet area. The staff is very nice and friendly. We ate at the bar and Jamie was our server. I would highly recommend him and this restaurant. I can't wait to come back for the next meal.

Tommy rocks the bar Food generally very consistent and this has become "our" place for an evening out. Future plan is to split a dinner and enjoy the atmosphere and colorful clientele as they succumb to Tommy's work behind the bar. Great times, good food

The food is always quite good. My wife is rather picky when it comes to steak and she has never been disappointed. I have tried a few things, most recently the French Dip and the Smokehouse Burger. Both were prepared exactly as I had asked. The atmosphere is great for meeting and chatting with friends or family. The service is slow at times but we never go there in a hurry so it adds to the conversational atmosphere.

I have eaten here a couple times so my rating is on more than one experience. If it was based on my last visit they would only get one star. They had several large groups that night so I will give them some understanding for that. Its actually a pretty cool place in the middle of nowhere. They have a decent beer and wine selection and the menu offers a wide selection. They had two bartenders working and were really overwhelmed. I would have thought they would staff better for a night that they have several large groups planned. It took quite a while for me to get the opportunity to even order a beer. I was sitting at the BAR! It took another 20 minutes to be able to order my food and it took about 45 minutes to get it. Im ok with everything to this point. Im not in a hurry and once I got a beer to sip on I was relaxed. I ordered a Reuben and steak fries. Instincts told me this was a bad choice for a steakhouse in the middle of nowhere but i ordered it anyway. I order them everywhere I can so I am sad to say this was the worst I have ever had. The corned beef was like jerky. Stiff, dry, and chewy are not good attributes of a Reuben. YUCK! I was starving after waiting over an hour for the food so I picked through it wolfed down my fries. I ordered a side of blue cheese dressing to dip my fries in. It was like watery sour cream. No visible/tastable signs of blue cheese anywhere. Like I said I have eaten here several times before and the experience was much better. It is the best dining option in that area but another experience like the last and I will be driving a little further down the road.

Visited there today for a quick lunch while traveling along the interstate. Arrived at 2:00pm. We were the only people in the place, and from the front door, basically followed the noise coming from the bar to find out where everyone was. It looked like we were the first customers of the day and they had opened before they were set up to receive customers, even to the point of building a fire in the fireplace. We were seated at a table near the bar, presented with menus and immediately told there were no potatoes today (the delivery truck hadn't stopped by there yet). Hmmmm ...... Waitress took our drink order for a Coke and a hot tea. Came back and delivered Coke, but offered 3 herbal tea options, apparently no black tea available. Hot minty tea arrived shortly thereafter. Looked over the menu and decided on soup and chili, as they were $4.99 each. Was told the soup of the day was steak soup. Requested loaded potato soup, reminded by waitress there were no potatoes today. Ordered a soup of the day and a chili. Waited 15 minutes for food to arrive. Hmmmm ..... simple soup and chili order. We finally dug in - soup was excellent, chili was excellent. Bread basket was brought out after the meal was delivered. Silverware and napkins arrived shortly thereafter. Time to go, bill arrived ..... I didn't even look at it - just handed her a $20 bill. Only when the waitress returned with a handful of change did I realize something was wrong. I looked at the receipt and it came to $19-something. I noticed we were charged $6.89 and $6.99 for the soup and chili. Hmmmm ...... I flagged the waitress down (yeah, it was busy by then - another patron had arrived) and told her the prices on my receipt were not what I was expecting, as I had seen a menu price of $4.99 for each, the soup and the chili. Her reply was the menu price was for a cup of each, and we had received bowls. Hmmmm ...... just requested soup and chili, never discussed cup size or bowl size when ordering. Walked out kinda not-real-happy, feeling a bit cheated. On the way out, checked the menu posted outside the front door. Sure enough, there was the price for soup and chili, just as I had remembered, plus, there was no mention of cup or bowl. Started to fume and made a mental note to do a Yelp review. Went back in and spoke with the manager, requesting to see a menu. He readily offered it. Looked over the menu and then brought the receipt to his attention. He checked with the waitress on why the amounts charged were different from the menu prices and then offered the explanation, "We just got these new menus in last week and you're the first ones to catch that". At that point, a refund was offered and accepted. I don't buy the 'new menu' story for a minute. But hey, maybe I'll try them again sometime. Nahh, probably not.

I am so looking forward to another visit here. The place itself it beautiful; it looks old colonial and can just imagine hosting an event there. Soft lightening, there walls are all hard wood and like stepping back in time. Our food was delicious. The potato soup full of flavor, soft chunks of potato, topped with more than enough cheese. The salad plentiful served with fresh baked bread and butter. The steaks grilled to perfection. Our server very friendly, knew the menu, and her timing for drink refills prompt. I saw posts for concerts, local funraisers, and local happenings outside on a bulletin board which I thought was a nice service for the community.

Went there in the middle of a road trip. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered the bourbon pork chop with baked sweet potato and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is forgettable (the pasta is still cold when served), the sweet potato is nicely baked, except for the butter and brown sugar on top (yea, brown sugar - as if the sweet potato isn't sweet enough). The pork chop is more of the overcooked end, not as moist as I hoped. My friend is okay with his steak and liked the steamed broccoli. Well, still better than the fast food along the interstate!

I have eaten here two days in a row. Once for dinner and once for lunch. I was home for a funeral and had lots of out of state family in town also. We wanted a place for a good meal and cocktails and ended up here. We all had Ribeyes for the most part with a wedge salad. Every single one of us was quite pleased! The server was good and the food honestly could not have been better. The next day for lunch we had an assortment of sandwhiches and chili. Again, everybody was pleased. Sadly both occasions it was very quiet in there. Hopefully they pay to get picked up on the Google radar for Steak Houses so others traveling in the area find the hidden gem in little NC. I would hate it if they don't get enough local support and the passer by's on 70 don't find this place.

Ummm... yeah, our second visit wasn't as good as the first. The atmosphere is still nice - my husband described it as a place that a doctor or lawyer with a Harley would go - and the service was good, but my food was nothing to write home about. The green beans had a good flavor, but they were canned. Come on now. This was especially disappointing since they were out of asparagus - again. Not to sound all Gordon Ramsey, but the crab cakes were "meh" at best. They tasted as though they had been prepared and frozen, then "heated" in a microwave. The flavor wasn't bad, but the consistency was pretty awful and they were barely lukewarm. As we had some place to be, I didn't send them back. The wedge salad was really crisp and the blue cheese dressing was very tasty, as was the bread, so I didn't go hungry. My husband enjoyed his New York strip and the gigantic baked potato it was served with. I'll stick to steak next time. I guess that's why it's not called Montgomery Crabcakehouse.

This is another of those places I've driven by countless times, and kept meaning to try. Last week, we finally had the chance. We enjoyed our visit very much! I had the breaded tenderloin (Yeah. I went to a steakhouse and ordered a breaded tenderloin) and it was quite good. I ordered Onion Rings as my side, and they were absolutely, over the top fantastic. Those onion rings are heavenly. Get them. Seriously. They. Are. The. Best. Our service was also quite good. We'll certainly return.

I have been to Montgomery's many times and food was good and drinks were pretty good, but service those times were lacking! What I am talking about is the Viewing Party for Faceoff with Cig Neutron... I am sorry but I really think that Montgomery's dropped the ball with this event, they could have done so much more to build up the fact that cig was going to be there and the viewing party! What I would have done if I was in charge of the party through Montgomery's would have to have had a big banner saying NEW CASTLE welcome's home Cig Neutron from Faceoff! And I would have had some drink specials for that night the Cig's Dark Water from his clown episode, The Big Tuna from his first win! So many things t hey could have done to make the night even more pleasurable they could have made the drinks with Alcohol and Non-Alcohol for kids... THEY WOULD have made a crap ton of money! But instead they dropped the ball on that and that was the one thing I have to say I was the most disapointed! Other then that Montgomery's is a really good place to eat and have a good time!

Updated review: I have actually found something I love to eat here, I think it's called the steak house burger. I'm excited for their new venture of serving Pizza King, perhaps just because in the area if we want pizza and beer we have to eat at home. It's nothing I would travel great distances for but I love the place for being 15 minutes from home. Service lately has been great for us but we almost always sit at the bar right after work around 5 (when they're not busy yet).

This can be a really good place to eat at, but it's a hit or miss thing! We have never had an issue with our food when eating here. It comes out to just how we ordered it. The only complaint I have about the food is that the waffle fries seem to have sit out for hours. They were cold and soggy (still ate them though). The only real big issue is the service! Understandable, last night we had a waitress that must have been new. We both had ordered an alcoholic beverage and someone had to bring those to us. The only bad part about that is, it took FOREVER for us to get another drink. Their service is always SLOW! Basically, it BITES!

Our family ate here while We were at a wedding. The steaks looked delicious and and had a good taste. HOWEVER, our $30 steaks came out cold. We were a large party and had asked our waiter to bring out the food as it was prepared. His reply "it depends on how fast I can move". Sure enough the food was cold. My wife had ordered potato soup. It was so old it was thick like mashed potatoes. This waiter was EXTREMELY rude. I will say the manager was extremely nice. He took the steaks off our ticket. I would probably try again if I am in the area. I think we just really had a crummy waiter. The meat did look really good.

The food is pretty good, if a bit pricey for Henry County, which is known for having a distinct preference for cheap eats. As others have noted, the bar is well-stocked and their wine selection is decent. The service is really uneven, though, but the servers are always friendly and very helpful. If the place is busy, you may well have to wait for drink re-orders and your check, but the staff is apologetic when this occurs. The décor is a bit dark for my taste, but we've been twice now and we will be back. One of Henry County's better places to dine.
