This is a hidden gem. Great food, great service, great place to eat! It's only open until 7th but let me tell you the pulled pork and the brisket are worth the early dinner. This is one of the best places in Middlebury /Shipshewana area. Located inside Yoder Department Store, you have got to go and check this place out! The mac and cheese is really good and they also have like 20 different flavors of ice cream. It's a must go!
What a darling cafe ~ especially at Christmas time. Breakfast, sandwiches, platters & entrees, wraps, homemade soups, coffee, shakes and ice cream. They don't have a huge selection of ice cream, BUT I don't believe I have seen ice cream so packed full of "nuts, berries, caramel, peppermint, etc etc"!! I rarely get a cone when we go out for ice cream because the cones are usually not fresh. The Fireside Cafe waffle cones are fresh!! I tried the chocolate waffle cone with "this just got serious" ice cream ~ oh mylanta ~ YUM! Salted caramel ice cream brimming with chocolate. You can sample the flavors to find one you like. When in Shipshewana I highly recommend stopping in this cafe ~ trust me you don't want to skip dessert!
The food was good, but I don't like to stand in line and order at a counter and then go find a seat. I wish they had a wait staff.

We enjoy the pretzels and hot dogs every time we visit this town. JoJo's never disappoints and is always busy!
What is it about JoJo's Pretzels that makes me such a fan?! That slightly sweet, slightly salty pretzel is the perfect snack in between checking out fabric's at Lolly's, stocking up on bulk candies at Aunt Millie's, and browsing the dulcimer collection at Simple Sounds. It could also be the nostalgia associated with coming here often with my siblings, grandmother and mom when I was a kiddo, always a good time. Stop by if you're visiting the Mercantile Building in Shipshewaka!
Just ate at Jo Jo's Pretzels in Shipshewana (my husband and I). Awful!! Smoked chicken croissant did not have a smokey flavor one bit. The piece of lettuce served with it was very wilty. Ham wrap had one maybe two almost see-through slices of ham, with the cheese being a few sprinkles of shredded cheese. Even the diet coke could have been better. Coffee was good but came from restaurant (Kitchen Cupboard?) next to it (they kind of shared the space). Then we decided to try a pretzel anyway. Terrible!! Not fully cooked, not fluffy, too doughy, left a lump in stomach. Cheese dip was ok, but fake. We didn't even eat half of the pretzel. All in all, a total waste of $20-some dollars!

Good hometown diner type food. Service is friendly. A "sit back and relax" kind of place, not a rush lunch

Stopped in for the all you can eat buffet. Chicken ,stuffing ,mashed potatoes ,corn green beans ,and noodles plus a pretty good salad bar. Also a great selection of pies. Everything was great including the service. I would highly recommend this place for a great family meal.
Great lunch with homemade soup and a delightful server. She had a difficult table next to us so we admired her skill all the more. I am a soup kind of guy and the soups here all sounded great, it was hard to choose but I went with a corn chowder and it was scrumptious. Paired with a ham and cheese sandwich it was just about the perfect lunch. We sat outside as the weather was very cooperative as well. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this place. And have the soup!
I always end up buying a gift here for someone I know. The food is pretty good, and my mom loves the fried chicken. I like the chicken pot pie personally. The service here has always been really good, and my server yesterday was just great about a specialty salad order that I asked for. The bathrooms are amazing, and I think it's great that they have a nursing and changing station for the babies. So many restaurants don't have that simple amenity of even a hard folding seat for nursing. The only complaint I would have about this place is that it is so packed with people, and it's a little bit like being herded as cattle to get a seat. But that's Shipshe on a weekday for you. It's worth eating here so you don't overspend at the meat and cheese shop down the street!

I love this place! We visit it when we visit family in the area (which is not that often). I remembered from when I last visited which was ten years ago when I was 8 years old and it was just as good as remembered when I visited yesterday. The sloppy joes are quite delicious and the one thing I really remembered for ten years was the moon pies which consist of ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies dipped in chocolate DELICIOUS!
Come for the ice cream and root beer. Stay to ogle the Amish people. I swear, it's like people have never seen a bearded dude wearing a buttonless shirt before. Anyway. I have often described Wana Cup as Amish Dairy Queen. They have fantastic ice cream creations, my favorite root beer EVER, and tasty food of the fried, burger and pizza variety. It's a great place for a quick meal or dessert when you don't have time for the Blue Gate or to head down the road to Middlebury. Look, Shipshewana is total Amish Tourist Trap land. It's a cute town, with some fun stores, but it's overrun with tourists and saying things like "Well I just want something Amish!" Sigh. The point is, I like Wana Cup. You should like Wana Cup too. But please, try not to stare at the Amish people for very long, it's not a zoo for pete's sake.
Went here on a Saturday night because there are few places to eat in Shipshewana after 5 unless you want to eat at the gas station (which would have been the same quality of food that I had at Wanacup but at a reasonable price). I ordered a hamburger steak with cheese, mushrooms, and onions on top. My meal was $8.49 and it came with fries and cole slaw (or runny potato salad because they were out of cole slaw). My plate came with a shrivelled 2" in diameter hamburger with a slice of cheap American cheese (hello! It's Amish country...good cheese galore gosh darn it). There were onions and 3 little tiny mushrooms on top that did help the taste of the overcooked patty (so did all the A1 I used). It wasn't enough that the overall appearance was disappointing I turned over the patty and it was burnt. Fries were of the lowest quality possible. Service was quick and friendly but avoid dinning in Shipshewana all together. You think Amish, ok good food right? No, the Amish are just good bakers. Go to another city to eat.

Great family setting !!! We eat here a lot , the staff is great !! Food is worth the$$$. Buffet is always hot and wonderful Big parking lot for trucks ... Ice house to stock your cooler if need be They have great pies and ice cream :) We always enjoy eating here
Came in and ate their buffet about 415pm. Food was bland, chicken was overdone and skin was not crisp. Lots of carb food, only one vegetable (green bean casserole). Will not return unless a last resort option and starving.
This was my 2nd time in Shipshewana, and I wanted to go somewhere different than where I went before. Last time, I went to the Blue Gate. While I liked their service and the atmosphere, I remembered the food being just fair -- and I didn't like the noodles (which I'd been looking forward to trying) at all. So this time, I decided to try the 5 & 20. The woman at the visitor information center said it was good and that they had a nice buffet. When I got there, I checked out the buffet. It was very small and had rather old looking food. So, I decided to order off the menu. First, I found their offerings rather uninspired; I almost left and went somewhere else. They just offered the usual fare of fried chicken, a few burgers, a steak or 2 and the like. I ordered the 2 pieces of chicken with a baked potato and tossed salad. The salad was small and very ordinary -- lettuce, a piece or 2 of carrots a bit of tomato. The dressing came in a little plastic carry out container. The chicken looked good, but it was not the least bit crispy. In fact, it was on the soggy side. Not at all what I would have expected. The "baked" potato was obviously microwaved: it was not fluffy as a baked potato is, the inside came off in chunks, and the skin was soft. It also had the pallor of microwaved foods. And the dinner roll was obviously packaged -- and tasteless. I only ate about half of my meal, so I took it back to my hotel with me. I was hungry a couple hours later, so I took it out again. Oddly, the whole meal -- including the potato -- tasted better cold. Perhaps I'm a bit of a food snob, but I was not impressed with the restaurant food in Shipshewana. (The stores and bakeries are a different story, however.) I will say that the service was pretty good and efficient, and the waitperson was nice and accommodating. And at least the iced tea was good and fresh.

We ate the lunch buffet here today and one day last week too. Buffet line is small but the food is excellent. The salad bar is fresh and very well stocked with just about anything you could imagine. Pizza is better than average and also there was little sandwiches that were delicious. Never seen those on a pizza buffet! Price for two buffets and drinks was a very reasonable $16.01! We will absolutely eat here again when we are in the area.
Didn't have an issue at all as the other negative reviewers had. We stayed at the Blue Gate Garden Inn and had our order promptly delivered and the whole process between ordering and delivery was prompt and courteous. The deep dish pizza we ordered was phenomenal as well. Cooked just perfect, we would definitely order or stop by their restaurant again in the future.
Got the dinner time buffet. The selection is small, but everything was FRESH!! And it was a great price!
