Very good Italian food served in a beautifully restored large 100 year old mansion next to the Shelbyville hospital. The service was OK, a bit slow for drink refills, but the food was excellent.

We did not dine here. I wanted to but they were closed at 7pm on a Friday night. No signage or anything stating it was closed. I don't know if it was for the evening or weekend or for-ever but we ended up walking down the street to another Italian place with live music on the patio and loved it! So thank you for being closed I guess.

Service was great! The house is beautiful! The food was delicious! An excellent overall experience! We had garlic knots, antipasto salad, stuffed pizza and a panzarotti roll. Delicious! Everything was homemade.

The absolute worst service I've ever had in my life, this includes fast food. The building is absolutely beautiful! We were greeted by someone as soon as we walked in, which was a nice change. After being seated at out table it was all down hill. The server took 10 minutes before asking us if he had helped us yet. After a decent wait, but not too long we got our meal. The food was decent, fettuccine and cheese tortellini. The tortellini came out with the wrong sauce. We had to ask for refills multiple times due to our server forgetting. After we finished up our meal we decided to try the cheese cake. After waiting for 25 minutes for our server to come back I had to ask the lady greeting people to please let our server know we'd like a cheese cake to go and our check. The cheesecake was less than an inch in width and 2-3 inches long. There are better options for Italian in Shelbyville, including fazolli's.

After reading the other reviews for this restaurant, I'm thinking that maybe my experience wasn't the norm (?), but here goes: The pasta dishes that my family and I ordered were not very good at all. The noodles were obviously from a package or box, and the sauce definitely tasted like it came from a can. I was really disappointed, having expected some excellent Italian. The house is beautiful, but when we came in, no one greeted us, and there was nothing to denote staff from customer, so we just awkwardly stood in the entrance-way until someone came downstairs and noticed us. In addition, they had to make us wait to prep. a table for us. We were only a party of 5, and the place was practically empty. I was not impressed.

Wow! What a great surprise in Shelbyville, IN. Our table had 4 different meals and all 4 were superb. My wife and I normally share meals, but she would not part with her Lasagna nor would I part with my Manicotti w/ Italian Sausage! Service was great, location was great and do not leave without the homemade cheesecake! We will definitely be back, worth the 45 minute trip from Indy.

OK, so food I must say was good. I really enjoyed it and the house really is amazing. That said service could use some work. It wasn't bad service just extremely slow. This could truly be an amazing restaurant with some focus on service.

Food was good... All sauces are made fresh. For the price, I was expecting a bit more food. But overall decent.

New location - next to Major Hospital. Great pizza - The garlic knots are wonderful and a cheap appetizer. Old Victorian style house is beautiful but it is very casual dining.

Recently dined at panzarottis with my wife, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law. The food was delicious and our waitress was exceptionally nice and helpful. The setting/atmosphere was perfect for the Italian restaurant. Suggestion---offer fresh ground pepper and grated parmesan. We will definitely return.

Why do I have to live so far from this restaurant? Visited for lunch on 5/28/12 on the recommendation of a family member who told me I'd love the garlic knots. I was treated to excellent service, friendly and attentive staff, and a delicious, fresh, fresh, fresh meal. Although we ordered pasta dishes, the owner, Jim Lee, treated us with some sample meatballs while we waited for our entrees. They were moist, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The owner's commitment to buying from local farmers--none of the meat is shipped from across the country--delighted this locavore foodie. The red sauce on my pasta dish was perhaps the best I've ever had--no fillers or corn syrup, and no canned sauce. The salads were above par and featured house made dressing. You'll love the garlic knots, and please be sure to save room for the house made cheesecake! In an era when so many restaurants in this price range are glorified re-heating stations, you'll appreciate the fresh difference, and Jim Lee's commitment to quality.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
