I used to love this place. But this Saturday at lunch we went and it was a despicable experience. Guac and queso was good, but the kid, ('manager'), who ended up waiting on us was slow and combative. The entrée temps were to low, the portions were more meager than I've seen previously. Worse than all, we found a hair in one of the portions AND one on my tea glass. The waitress actually argued with me and I overheard her talking about us to the kitchen staff. She tried saying it was a piece of corn husk, then blamed our kids for a hair INSIDE A TAMALE! Next the kitchen kid came out and mocked me. It was the worst experience in a restaurant ever. I miss the way it was, but when you allow kids to run your business, quality and service suffers.

Great, Fresh food and a recent remodel make El Maguey even better! This has always been a favorite place of mine to eat. Their salsa is fresh and flavorful - I love the Mild version! The choriqueso is an inspired blend of chorizo and queso - yum. Don't tell your cardiologist! There are healthy options on the menu, too - they've even got a Weight Watchers version of the pollo dish if you ask for it. Owner Raquel is extremely attentive and gracious - she is an accommodating hostess. Service was quick and efficient - the restaurant is now sufficiently staffed. Give this gem a try and you will be supporting a true entrepreneur who cares about presenting quality food and service.

This restaurant is a very good place to go. Raquel and her staff do all they can to make each visit fun and satisfying. The food is delicious and authentic, and the atmosphere is charming. I have visited El Maguey many times in 10 years and I find that the staff cares a lot about each customer. It is ALWAYS a treat to eat there. I hope that Wendy M tries again.

Poor service. Waited over an hour for our meal and still didn't have it when we left. Another couple had left shortly before we did because they waited 20 minutes and no one even took their drink order. There was plenty of staff walking around and the place was not very busy. They didn't seem at all concerned with our frustration.

We were super-thrilled with this place. On our way back home from vacation, we stumbled across this place in a nice town square on a Wednesday at lunch hour. We were promptly seated, ordered the special tropical margarita (with extra shot of tequilla at no extra charge!) and each had an entree. My Pollo con Chorizo was the best I have ever had. My partner's chicken dish was great as well. Service was prompt and friendly, decor is fantastic (even the restroom was awesomely decorated), ambiance and music were appropriate, and the food was just great!. .

This place was horrible. The chips were stale, the guac salad is just a salad with a scoop of guac on top, My margarita was nothing but lime juice. Oh and on the children's menu they have pizza, well that is really just a cheese quesadilla. Our queso was so thin it was like water, it did taste good though and our two year old liked it. She dipped her "pizza" in it. Our bill was over $50 for two adults and a two year old. Will never go there again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
