My fiance and I went to this Olive Garden around Valentine's Day. There was no wait - but the food and service were great. It's your typical Olive Garden but we had a great experience. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. We waited months for this place to open in Richmond and then it took us forever to finally check it out. The place is always busy!

I have visited many Olive Garden restaurants in many cities, but this one has shown me the best service and greatest quality of food that I have experienced in a long while! The serving staff is always incredibly nice and willing to split meals or make changes to accommodate certain needs/wants, and they also are quick and smart with salad and breadstick refils, as well as wine samples and great ideas of what to pair with certain meals. The food is very well prepared, kudos to the chefs in the back! I always can expect a great experience on each visit to Olive Garden in Richmond, Indiana!

Foo is usually good but last time I went you could tell they had set my dish under a heat lamp for too long. They are usually not that bad but every once in a while they mess up.

I'm a fan of OG and I'm from California, but I don't go because the waiters are always rushing u and getting your orders wrong. But today I really wanted some Ravioli from the OG. I really enjoyed the Richmond restaurant. My server Brandi C. Was really attentive and very nice she made us feel like family and I loved the attention to detail. She got our order right and was informative about the new entrees. Thank you for the great service and if u go be sure to ask for Brandi she will make your dinner a pleasant time.

I was very pleasantly surprised last night, as our visit to Olive Garden was fantastic...mostly. I only had two complaints. Olive Garden is supposed to play appropriate jazzy, swingy, classic music- NOT techno club dance music. As for the second complaint, it's not the restaurant's fault- but just so you know, just because you happen to know someone at my table doesn't mean you should come chitchat, especially if you're going to talk politics. You don't know me, and that's my meal and conversation you just interrupted. Just say hi, yayaya, and get back to work. As an aside, I also wish people would act like they're going to a nice place to eat- I look around and see men in cut off shirts, women in sloppy clothes, men wearing their hats, girls in cut offs...it's disgusting and disappointing. But, back to the good! We had the spicy shrimp scampi fritta- delish. We had the calamari- delish, and for once, NOT over cooked! We had the crispy risotto bites- not bad. They are interesting, but the texture was inconsistent throughout the order, which is bad considering an order is only 4 or 5 balls. We had zuppa toscana- delish. More delicious than usual, actually. We had salad- meh. I think Olive Garden's salad is always meh. We had breadsticks- meh. Too salty, too hard. Who cares though, I had lots of other stuff to eat! I had grilled chicken flatbread- delish. Tastes great dipped in a boat of alfredo. He had the tour of Italy- okay. The chicken parmigiana was dry. The lasagna was okay. The fettuccine alfredo was very good. I had coffee- as always it was weak and horrible. Our server was a delight. She was very helpful, patient, and attentive. Her suggestions and descriptions were spot on! This is not at all our typical visit to this Olive Garden. Usually, the service is horrid or barely passing at best, the food is overcooked and flavorless, and the entire experience is disappointing. The restaurant is crowded and set up poorly- I don't know what we would've done if we'd needed a high chair for Lolo! But, because our most recent experience was so fantastic I've given this particular location 3 stars instead of 2. I only hope next time is just as good!

Oh, the OG. I know it's wrong on so many levels, but I can't seem to stay away from the fake Italian goodness. I did manage to hold off for three months before going to this location to let the thrill and excitement die down. I can sum up the whole experience as "fine." My husband and I went on a Friday afternoon (around 1:00) for lunch. It was not packed, but not empty either. Our server was kind of weird; she got our food and drink orders, brought us our drinks, and then another server came out and introduced herself to us, saying that our original server was leaving and she would be taking over. However, Original Server Girl continued to wait on two other tables, so I'm not sure if she just got overwhelmed by our table being added to the mix or if she hated us or what. I also know how Olive Garden's shift changes go since I worked there at one time, and servers generally don't take over for others until the dinner shift starts at 4:00 or so. But whatevs. New Server Girl was nicer than Original Server Girl anyway. My standard order, the portobello mushroom ravioli, tasted pretty good. My husband ordered some steak/tortellini combination, and it had an excellent flavor but was lukewarm. The bill seemed kind of high for what we got (two lunch entrees, an iced tea and a water was $24). Anyway, my cravings for the OG are such that I usually only need to indulge them once every few months, in which case I will probably get carry-out.

I don't like leaving bad reviews. I really don't. But how can I rate anything above one star if I don't even get to eat the food I was trying to get? I know this is their first week open, so I'll definitely be giving them another shot. And I will promptly update my review when I have a better experience. With that said: I decided to call up Olive Garden today to place a To Go order. I take my lunch break from 11:30-12:30, so I figured if I called at 11:10 that should be plenty of time. I called, and was put on hold. I waited.....and waited.....and waited. Finally someone picks up the phone and says "Hello?" I respond with "Hello?" And then they hung up. Wonderful. I call back and say I just called to place a to go order and someone hung up on me. They apologized and started to take my order. I ordered 1 appetizer and 2 sandwiches. They say "that item has been discontinued." I said "I'm looking at your menu on the website right in front of me." They insisted it was not there. Then it dawned on them that I was ordering a sandwich and suddenly everything made sense to them. OK, now we're getting somewhere. Finally they say "OK your order should be ready by 12:15. We're a little backed up at the moment." What? It's going to take more than an hour to make an appetizer and 2 sandwiches? I told them my lunch break is over at 12:30 and that I'll just try them another time. They said they would try to hurry, but I said that I didn't want to risk not being able to have lunch today. Not off to a good start, but I'll give it another shot again.

I am not the biggest fan of chain Italian restaurants because after being exposed to REAL Italian, there is no comparison. However, I am a sucker for Olive Garden's chicken gnocchi soup. When I can get it with unlimited salad and breadsticks for lunch at a low, more than reasonable price, I'm sold. Olive Garden in Richmond recently opened sometime shortly before Valentine's day. My family didn't give it too long before we decided we were ready to indulge in their lunch meal deal. For being a new establishment in a small(er) size town on a weekday right at noon lunch rush, our wait was minimal. I think, at best, we waited 10 minutes before we were seated. Olive Garden was CRAWLING with employees. Literally, there were far too many people for the jobs that needed to be done. There wasn't enough room in the building for all of the employees, added on top of the customers; the place was overflowing with a mass of humans. Had everyone been DOING something, I don't think it would have been an issue. But at least half of the staff was standing around socializing or looking like they should be doing something, but had no idea what it was. Our waitress was completely nice, but her waitressing skills left a lot to be desired. She had an odd dye job complimented by a headband with a ridiculously huge flower that was entirely too distracting. She seemed confused by what our options were with our order. WRF ordered a water. She inquired if he would like lemon, to which he stated no thanks, and was then served a water with lemon. Later in to our meal, she asked if he would like a refill on his soup, to which he stated no thanks, and was soon thereafter presented with a new bowl of soup. It WAS busy, it WAS lunch, but it IS her job as a waitress to get our orders and requests right. Other than that, our experience was just a normal restaurant experience. Our food was what we expected, we enjoyed our lunch together, paid our bill, and were on our way.

The Olive Garden in Richmond IN is a fairly new addition. We went there a few weeks ago for mother's day. We went between the busy lunch period and dinner. The wait was only about 10 minutes which wasn't bad considering. I have eaten at Olive Garden restaurants throughout the midwest. I had the Five Cheese Ziti al Forno which was the first time for me with this dish. The other person had Eggplant Parmigiana which she usually gets when we visit an Italian restaurant. Of course they bring out the big salad with breadsticks which are the same in all Olive Gardens. I would rate those as 3.5 on this particular day. The five cheese ziti was very good and filling. The price was $11.50 so it was worth it. The eggplant parmigiana was rated as very good too. The selection of beers was the usual with no local brews to select from. Just because a place is part of a chain does not necessarily mean it is bland or not worth your while. I would go back to this Olive Garden which does seem to be a bit better than the other ones I have eaten at in the past few years. Visited May 2012

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
