I'm giving it three stars. The food is middle of the road but for $5.75 for lunch you can't beat it with a stick. The food is consistent with most ALL Chinese places but this place boast a huge menu if you want a specialty item. No surprises here. Just cheap decent food at a steal of a price. I tried quite a few items and wasn't blown away but still it's just like all other places that serve this type of food. Look golden corral is $12-$13 a person

I've been here several times and it never changes. So, here's the breakdown: Pros The people are super nice. Drinks arrive very quickly. You CAN order from the menu, if you'd like. It's fairly cheap, at about $6 per person. There's lots to choose from on the buffet. They do deliver! Cons While you've got a lot to choose from on the buffet, nothing is really outstanding. Food tends to sit for a while on the buffet before it's replenished, or rather "fluffed up." So.... If I'm on that side of town and really have the hankering for Chinese food and whoever I'm with wants a buffet, I'll go there.

When I want Chinese food, this is were I go. The buffet is small but what's on it is delicious. The staff are very nice. Always attentive and friendly. I love this place.

Worst Chinese buffet I've ever had. Would have been bad even if it wasnt cold. If it wasnt for peel n eat shrimp and real ice cream I would have gave it 1 star. Everything was chicken in this and that. Chicken was overcooked and tough as a wang.

So today was the day for Chinese..or should I call it American Chinese or for short Americanese. Americanese can be very disappointing, but today my friends this was not the case! Jade House was very delicious and the owners wife..her attitude was as good as the food. Thank you Jade House for making the next two hours of my life delightful!! BE back status...Yelp! :-)

The only reason I half like this place is that I can order what I want from the menu because even when I order a typical Chinese item like Ma Po To Fu, it doesn't taste like the real thing. I once talked to the owner, a Taiwanese woman, and asked her why they changed the food and she replied "We have to make it like that or they won't eat it." I suppose that's true. Most American people have no idea about real Asian food. I remember the Thai-Chinese couple who opened a carry out restaurant at South 8th and E Streets (where A&W Root Beer used to be) in the late 1970s. It was absolutely wonderful and when I took the food back to the Elder-Beerman break room, people complained about the smell of the food. It was amazingly good. This place is passable. The Ma Po To Fu sauce I buy in foil bags is better and is made the way Japanese like it. The restaurant has a lot of choices, though, but the service is odd. One woman doesn't seem to speak English and when I was trying some written (by computer) Chinese, she didn't even get that. They're friendly, but is it enough? Taste isn't optional.

Let's get real here, have you ever eaten at a Chinese buffet that was good? I mean, when was the last time you left a Chinese buffet and said to yourself, "man that was delicious!" I don't think that has ever happened to me. Based upon that reasoning alone, I am giving Jade House 4 stars, because they excel at what they do. They provide me with 15 varieties of fried hunks of mystery meat swimming in spicy sauces, noodles, and rice. I get it quickly, and for super cheap. I consider any visit to a chinese buffet where I don't get sick a success. I can get in and out of here quick for lunch and it'll only cost me $7. They're also pretty great at carry out here, and when you order it that way it just may be a little more fresh.

Worst food that I ever had. It is 1 am and am still awake because of the half cooked garlic chicken and tasteless fried rice. Spring rolls were greasy and the soup was hot water with some tofu and vinegar. I love Chinese food and there is nothing good in Richmond. The closest is the one in Eaton. Don't even think of this place for food. The place looks run down with a pair of half broken lions in the front. Service was bad. I try to find good about any place but this one did not give me any.

Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten! Frozen shrimp were over cooked and dried out. The chicken was really fatty. Do yourself a favor and go to Great Wall greatwallinrichmond.com

Terrible service. Ordered dinner, picked up a little (25) minutes later than expected ready time. Ate it an hour later. The chicken was really, really dry - like, I've only had a badly cooked Thanksgiving turkey that tasted that bad - and when I called to complain was told that it was dry because I waited too long to pick it up. Fried things usually get soggy, not dry, from being allowed to sit in a sealed container for an hour and a half. Phone attendant refused to replace entree or give coupon of equal value and insisted that since the cook had been doing his job for 10 years, he couldn't have made a mistake. If the chicken had been soggy, I would have agreed, but this overcooked meal is one I certainly will never be repeating. Disgusting.

The city of Richmond contains at least 5 Chinese Buffets. You are doing a disservice to yourself if you go to any one that is NOT the Jade House. Being that we have no "sit-down only" Chinese restaurants, this is also the only buffet in Richmond that is worth ordering off the menu. They even deliver! This establishment seems to be family-owned and operated which gives the place a nice, comfortable atmosphere. The Staff are a pleasure to be around. The buffet itself is tucked away in a room, so once you have your plate you feel as though you are seated at a typical "non-buffet" restaurant. Some people may have a problem with the size of the buffet. However, I feel as though The Jade House emphasizes quality over quantity.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
