On October 31, 2011, my wife and I dined for the first time at Sahm's. It was recommended to us by our hosts at the Ivy House bed and breakfast where we were lodging. It was Halloween and our server Mona was decked out in a bee costume. She immediately made us feel welcome and was very competent. Besides tending our table, Mona also tended the bar that night and made each of us a large and very well-prepared cocktail. Mona said that although their homemade soups change each day, the Alaskan clam chowder is always available because of the demand for it. On her recommendation I ordered the clam chowder. It was fantastic. I don't know what all was in it, but it may have been the best clam chowder that I have ever had! For our entrées we both had the chicken salad that was one of the specials. This was a really tasty dish made with very fresh ingredients and was just what we were looking for that night. That special came with a slice of their signature sour cream coffee cake that was superb! It's called the "slice of heaven" and that's a perfect description. My only suggestion for the restaurant is that it might want to lower the lights slightly at night to give the place a little softer ambiance. This place has an expansive menu and serves great food at very reasonable prices. If you are in the general area, don't pass it up.

This is a great place! I stopped in the first night I was in Pendleton, 8/14, partly because I was hungry after travelling all day, and partly to check out the food and atmosphere. It was recommended to me by a lady at the town hall as a good place to have a family lunch gathering after the interment of my mother's ashes Saturday, 8/16. They were about to close but I talked them into bringing me a breaded tenderloin sandwich (what else?) and some fried mushrooms in to-go containers so I could eat part there and take the rest with me. They were nice to do that. I liked the place well enough to go ahead and make a reservation for the family meal. The tenderloin was very good and the mushrooms were fantastic. I've had mushrooms to or three times since then on my trip and these were absolutely the best! On Sat Aug 16th we had a beautiful, meaningful graveside ceremony attended by my brother's family, myself, and a few cousins from both sides of the family who live in the area. Afterwards we went to Sahm's for a family lunch, which fortunately everyone but the pastor was able to attend. There were 11 of us. At first they were going to seat us at two separate tables of 7 and 4. But fortunately, one of my cousins kept saying, "We'll all fit around this table, we don't care if it's a little tight, we want to all sit together." Bless her for that because we DID all squish together around the table they were going to put the 7 at and two sisters were practically on each others' laps but do you know it just made it more fun? It was so great to have the two sides of my family together for what may have been only the fourth time--at my parents' wedding in 1941, at their 50th Anniversary in Dec. 1991, my Dad's services in Dec. 2001, and my Mother's services today. The ambiance couldn't have been more heartwarming and pleasant. Our waitress was fantastic and patient and cheerful, everyone raved about how good the food was and how good the service was, and a good time was had by all. We hated to break it up and leave but eventually we all had to get back to reality. Our waitress made out because I had included a 20% tip on my credit card and several of the others had thrown down money on the table, too. She deserved it for helping us to have such a lovely time, and being flexible about our rearranging of the seating. If I had it to do over again, this is still the place I would choose for this meaningful family gathering. Thank you Sahm's!

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner and are always happy with our food and the service. Convenient location and the food tastes very fresh. Salads are great, as is the meatloaf and chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Very family friendly as well.

Came in for a Saturday afternoon dinner with family. They were impressed with the reasonable prices, I was more impressed with the home cooked food. Entrees ordered included the meatloaf, babyback ribs and chicken. No complaints around the table, including on the margarita that inspired another table to order the same.

Visit didn't start out well. We stopped in around 2 in the afternoon and seated our selves. We had to go find the server to take our order. After taking out drink order the service changed and was very good. My wife order chips and salsa, oh my they were good. For our main meals she ordered club sandwich and I had the tenderloin. Both were very good. Portions were great, we both left we take home boxes and just as good for supper. Will be going big back.

We got here at 7:00 tonight (a Sunday). It took a while for them to take our order. We got our nachos relatively quickly, but could have easily made it better at home. My husband ordered a shrimp cocktail. They brought raw shrimp to the table and then tried to tell us that it looked different (raw...) because it was the jumbo ones meant for a sampler platter or something. The manager (I think?) came and took them and said she would get the correct shrimp. We then didn't get the meals until a little after 8:00. We had a burger, a tenderloin and the chicken special. None of which were a special order. We were actually getting up to leave when our food finally came. The baked potato was a rubbery, microwaved deal. The entrees where all decent, but certainly not worth an hour wait on a slow night. The service in general was lacking. We had to flag someone down every time we needed a drink refill. And even then it was hit or miss whether we would get it.

Came here for dinner with some friends who live nearby. It's a family restaurant that emphasizes fresh food, lots of sides, and sandwiches. I went for a fried cod sandwich and cheddar cauliflower as my side - I had been advised it was delicious. We also got bread for the table, but I didn't have any. The food I had was great. The fish was tender, flaky, and very well seasoned. The bun was buttery and fresh. And the cauliflower was indeed very tasty. Our waitress was a tiny bit scattered and introduced herself twice but rolled with all of the various requests we made of her and kept on top of refills. I'm not in this area that often but I'd definitely come back if I were.

This is a great local eatery. No one in this area should miss eating here or any of the other Sahm's. Beef Manhattan and Club sandwich are awesome.

A pretty lackluster experience, all things considered. I mean, nothing outright bad or offensive ... to me or my tastebuds. But the 2-star descriptor, "Meh. I've experienced better.", pretty much sums it up. The prevailing cooking technique in the kitchen seems to be one that is sadly common: Let's douse this in enough sauce that no one will notice the poor quality of the ingredients or the sloppiness of its preparation. A body craves fat, and so if you douse anything in enough caesar salad dressing, your body will have a way of wanting it ... no matter how soggy or greasy it is. That's pretty much the model here. The beer list, by the way, was offensive. At this point, there's no excuse for not having good beer. This is particularly so in a place that calls itself a "Tavern". And it's double-particularly so in Indiana, where Triton and a host of other quality breweries are a local phone call away. Sad, because I feel like there was potential. Oh, and I'm not fooled by all the fake reviews! Seriously, no friends, no other reviews, and just one short glowing review for this place?! I smell a rat ... more than one of them, from the looks of it.

We have enjoyed Sahm's at Pendleton for a about three years. It has been our go to place. The waitresses were always friendly and the food was good. The last few times we have not had good experiences. We know they have a new manager and things have been going downhill since. The clam chowder that we loved is now watery, There was almost no gravy on the beef Manhattan and the beef was full of fat and gristle. The hostess is not friendly or helpful, if you can even find her. We are going to try some new places and we are really sad about this because we used to enjoy going there.

My husband and I were in there yesterday, we waited at our table 20 minutes for a server to greet us. She then asked us for our food order. She never came back until 35 minutes when we got our food. I ordered a salad that was half the size it was supposed to be and my husband ordered a tenderloin that was broken into several pieces and had cold unseasoned fries with it. We stopped going because it had gotten so bad but we thought we would try it again. We were very disappointed and we regret the second chance. We will not be going back. I have to give it one star because it won't let me post without it but that is the only reason it's getting one star.

Service ok but seafood was inedible. Not coming back. Both meals ordered were from the specials page. The fish was dry, cold , and rubber. The crab cakes had a rotten smell that even grossed out the kitchen. The fried chicken was very dry. The biscuits were hard and crunched like a cookie. The shrimp was too tough to even chew through. The caeser salad was ordered without dressing as my wife doesn't like to drown her lettuce. We were glad we didn't because the lettuce was dirty and literally tasted like dirt. It had not been washed. My wife loved the cauliflower cheddar mash. The mashed potatoes weren't bad. The onion rings were a joke. They should be called tempura onion strings and left in moderation on the top of a burger. Epic failure on many fronts

This is wonderful. Breaded mushrooms are fantastic. Breaded tenderloins are perfect. Not a bad food in the house to my knowledge.

Stopped here after reading some other reviews. We were on a road trip and wanted to try something that we couldn't get at home. The restaurant was clean, service was decent and the food was average. The kids meals were a generous size ($4.50), but you had to pay extra for their drinks. The homemade bread used for the burgers and melts was delicious. I tried the Chicken Avocado. I was slightly disappointed. There wasn't much avocado. It was more if a corn and black bean salsa on top of the chicken with a few pieces if avocado. I had breaded mushrooms as a side dish and they were excellent!

It was crowded, the host was very rude. We were sitting waiting for a table and an Islamic family approached the door, she made a racist comment about "towel heads" before they came inside which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. We were finally sat, at a table after specifically asking for a booth, and then we were introduced to our waitress. She was polite and nice, we got our food, which was acceptable. I was not a fan of the onion rings, and the burger was overly greasy. Then the bill came and we were slightly shocked. We won't be returning as a family again. My partner went for lunch a different day and enjoyed the pastrami sandwich and sneaks over there occasionally to have that lunch.

Wow, after reading the reviews Sahm's got, I'm surprised that so many people have anything negative to say! I've been here more times than I can count, and even bring out of town visitors because I think it's an excellent representation of what our little area has to offer! My mother comes here with me to meet a friend from Noblesville every time she visits from Detroit. All of their food is as local and fresh as possible, scoring HUGE on my list of awesomeness. They also make all of their own breads, rolls, buns, croutons, etc which is amazing. I have tried many of their salads, which are all delicious, fresh, and unique! They use really good ingredients and you can tell nothing has ever been frozen. My hubby has also had their tenderloin (a classic dish in the local market) and he said it's among the top he's ever had. The service is excellent, always attentive and kept our drinks full. Really nothing bad to say, the price is even pretty reasonable, especially for the quality of food you receive. The atmosphere is nice as well, including TV's in the bar area in case you're looking to catch the game or something. There is PLENTY of food in each portion, and for me, each meal had enough for at least two servings.

Small local chain of restaurants. They have a rather ambitious menu of both a wide range of sandwiches and main course entrees. They also usually have four or five daily specials. Tonight we met friends there and got caught up on old times. The waitress kept the iced tea glasses full. My wife got the seafood medley special and said it was very good. I got the NY Strip steak, and asked for the mushroom sauce instead of the herbed butter on top of it. That was no problem for the kitchen, and there was no extra charge. The steaks have a wood smoked flavor to them. They were cooked exactly right which is hard to do on a wood fire. We got the appetizers of a basket of breaded mushrooms and carrot curls. If you like mushrooms, this is the place to go. I have had some as good served in the steak house located at Mattoon, IL airport, but that is a long way to go just for mushrooms.

Great food. Soup, salad and veggies in the stir fry were all fresh and tasty. Coming from out of town for soccer there was enough variety for many food appetites.

Five stars to Ashley for the outstanding service. Their famous Alaskan clam chowder was ok but nothing outstanding. I ordered the cod platter. Three tiny greasy fish sticks, certainly not worth the $12.99 price tag.

What I love about this restaurant is it is always consistent in a very positive way. The food, service, you name it always top notch.larry the owner is very accommodating and flexible regarding food variations. I believe the secret to the success of this establishment is the loyal staff who have long tenure. I travel a lot around the country and overseas but I always enjoy visiting this great restaurant.

For the price, the food is well portioned and was cooked perfectly. Great sandwich.

Local and fresh. Well worth the short drive from Interstate 69 (Exit 22 67/9 towards Pendleton). My favorites are the club sandwich (on buttery toasted bread), the burger (served on a delicious and soft toasted knot roll), and the chicken cashew stir-fry (the vegetables are crisp and the hoisin soy sauce is tangy and not overpowering). If your dinner comes with the complimentary bread, try some--it's a sweetish molasses dark bread and very good with the whipped butter. Their homemade sour cream coffee cake is also very good.
