Love love love this place!!! I eat here at least once a week !!! General Tso's chicken is the BEST I've ever had!!! I have also tried the Orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, cashew chicken, the egg rolls, crab ragoon, and their egg drop soup...everything is awesome. The only complaint I have ever had is not having enough of their sauce at one time. I also wish their portions were a little bigger but I could their food all day!!! I have gone back to some of the "buffets" around town, and afterwards I am always wishing I went to The Happy Dragon!!!

This is a great restaurant with a great atmosphere. Also has a nice liquor selection. The owner/operator is there almost every day making sure the experience is awesome. I would highly recommend the broasted chicken which is also on special quite a bit. It's all-around good food for a good price. Not to mention it's unique, locally owned and operated. Stop in and grab some quality food.

Pierogi In A Pinch

This place is the real deal. In business since 2009 when they started selling at the Fishers farmer's market, they opened the brick and mortar store in January of this year. The space is small -- four tables for seated dining, as well as a takeout counter. It was full most of the time we were there. We were seated right away and given a menu, then plenty of time to decide what we wanted. We both got Pierogi Platters -- 3 pierogis and two sides for $10.99, with a half of a piece of kielbasa. I had two cheddar and potato and one Philly Steak pierogis, with sides of potato pancake and applesauce. The pierogis were wonderful. Hubby got different ones than me, and got potato pancake and sauerkraut sides. He's from Cleveland so he knows his pierogis, and he was impressed -- he even said they were better than the ones we'd had in Cleveland the last time we were there. That says something -- he's very discerning about food. There's a freezer where you can choose frozen pierogis to take home (we didn't, only because we weren't going straight home). The menu is constantly changing, as they have pierogis of the month, but they also have the classics. For some reason, it took an extra few minutes for my potato pancake to come out, but when it did, it was bigger than my hubby's, which made up for it. It was a little soggy, but was delicious. Hubby thought, and I agreed, that the kielbasa was more of a smoked sausage, but it didn't really matter, because it was very flavorful, and the perfect complement to the pierogis. The applesauce is basically a cup of Mott's with some cinnamon thrown on top -- the ONLY suggestion I have is to get rid of the cups and serve it on the plate, or in a small bowl. Otherwise, it was all great comfort food, and the presentation was nice. We ordered the apple caramel pierogis for dessert, and Jen was gracious enough to give us a blueberry one as well for free, because she thought we had waited too long. We didn't think it was too long, especially given how busy they were, but it was really nice. Jen brought the food out herself, which was also a nice touch. The restaurant is super clean, and you get real silverware and plates. Drinks come from a cooler on the counter, and are all bottled, with a nice selection of water, pop, frappucino and other drinks. Heck, even the restroom was clean. All in all, authentic pierogis for a good price, with personal service. You can't get better than this anywhere.
I had the three pierogi meal. The pierogis were good. The latke was thinner than I am used too but it was good too. The cucumber salad was very good but the size of the slices were very irregular. Some were thin and other were very thick. Service was very good. The price was on the steep side. $2.75 for a bottle of iced tea is very high. $3 for a bottle of coke is also very high.
What an awesome little spot! I stumbled upon this gem on accident and what a happy accident it was. I tried the beef and onion pierogis and they were very tasty! I also love that they give you the option of applesauce!

We have been searching for two years to find a breakfast home since moving to Indiana. Who knew that 15 minutes from our house would host the best breakfast I have had in 20 years. If you fail to try the corn beef hash then please just stay home. Nothing is better than homemade corn beef hash and they have even done better than my grandmas best attempt at corn beef hash. It is difficult to impress my father in law with a place for breakfast. Today I have done that and probably just received approval for marrying his daughter 12 years ago. I will be a eating here on a regular basis moving forward. Thanks for being close to our home!
Great breakfast! The portions and prices at spot on! Friendly staff! I like the French Toast!
By far the best tenderloin I've ever had. (Highly recommend ) The atmosphere is nice, the restaurant was very clean and our server Jamie was prompt and very friendly. The prices were also very budget friendly. If you enjoy a good Tenderloin you don't want to miss out on Anita's.

The new owner makes the place even better. Great food, friendly service make this a winner of a location. He is starting to make some changes to add healthy food options and even change up the interior to make it brighter.
Very nice local restaurant. Unique atmosphere and very friendly, personable service. My coworkers and I came here for lunch while working in Pendleton. We were warmly greeted at the door and thanked for coming in. The tenderloin here seems exceptional. My coworkers absolutely raved about it and it did look very impressive and delicious. Being a vegetarian I passed on the tenderloin but I overheard other diners comment on how it was the best in Indiana. There weren't any vegetarian sandwiches on the menu but the server told me I was welcome to order the grilled cheese kids meal. It was very tasty, served with a large portion of tasty fries and really good pickle slices.
Passing through, was recommended by a local. I thought I'd had the best breaded tenderloin ever prior to my visit. Not so. This place took over first place. Kind of slow but looked short staffed. Worth the little wait. I'm sure prices are a little high for locals, but in Indy it would be a very fair price. Had to box the leftovers. (Two meals) The Unknown Diner digs it the most!

Waffle House

Understand what Waffle House represents - an informal diner for quick and inexpensive meals. Building - clean. Team - not fake friendly - homey folks who work for a wage and tips and who care. Caring is somewhat rare today and therefore appreciated. I chuckled when I overheard a customer ask sarcastically if they served turkey bacon - they do not. The House is for filling you not slimming you. You can eat right or close if you try but I would argue this is a place to feast on an old style breakfast. Eggs ordered scrambled firm - I got what I ordered. Country ham - they have it. Waffles - the place is named Waffle House - and they bake it into their signature dish. Visit and order a waffle and you will understand. Why did I write a review - I like to see Hoosiers working hard and people in the service industry understanding that service is key. Well done.
Food and service, five stars. Ok, it's a diner. I expect it to be a diner atmosphere. But I also expect clean floors. I also expected to see a changing table of some sort, but there's not even a countertop. So that brought it down to three stars. For what it's worth, the cooking area is clean except the floor. The coffee came out quickly, got refilled regularly, and tasted great. Our server smiled whenever she checked on us. The food is diner style, but tasty and filling.
We've been here only about 3 or 4 times. If you get there when the smoke isn't too thick, the food tastes really good. Otherwise, be prepared to have tobacco on your palate for the rest of the day.

Order from here often and never have an issue with our food, except one time. I was heavily pregnant and ordered 2 extra cheese sauces to go with our breadsticks and pizza..food arrives and no cheese sauces, they forgot. I wanted that cheese sauce SO bad (all women who have been pregnant and have cravings know what I am talking about here!) I started crying..yeah, no kidding. So the next day we are out running errands and hubby stops by the store and tells them what happened (Geez I hope he left out the part that I cried about it) and the lady felt so bad for me she gave hubby an entire bag of cheese sauces for me!!! LOL So...customer service mistake but at least they cared about trying to fix it. They have a standing special on Mondays..a large 1 topping carryout pizza for $5.99..can't beat it!

Cool local food and soft serve divey place with high schoolers manning the counters. It's exactly what you're thinking it is.
Tangerine soft serve! Need I say more? Okay, I'll say a little more: get it half-and-half with the vanilla. It'll make Pendleton, Indiana a destination for you.
I've personally have mixed reviews about this place sometimes I come here and it's really good and sometimes I come here wishing I would have went elsewhere! I definitely don't think the barbecue is the best in Indiana by any means but it's okay, the tangerine ice cream is very good but as far as the rest of the treats go I would compare them to Dairy Queen! I would come here over going to Dairy Queen just to support the local business if I am in the area, but I won't be driving out of my way just for tangerine soft serve! Also I will add they really need to fix the A/C unit in the dining area it is always stifling hot inside.

Sahm’s at Pendleton

1251 S Huntzinger Blvd

Reviews:
On October 31, 2011, my wife and I dined for the first time at Sahm's. It was recommended to us by our hosts at the Ivy House bed and breakfast where we were lodging. It was Halloween and our server Mona was decked out in a bee costume. She immediately made us feel welcome and was very competent. Besides tending our table, Mona also tended the bar that night and made each of us a large and very well-prepared cocktail. Mona said that although their homemade soups change each day, the Alaskan clam chowder is always available because of the demand for it. On her recommendation I ordered the clam chowder. It was fantastic. I don't know what all was in it, but it may have been the best clam chowder that I have ever had! For our entrées we both had the chicken salad that was one of the specials. This was a really tasty dish made with very fresh ingredients and was just what we were looking for that night. That special came with a slice of their signature sour cream coffee cake that was superb! It's called the "slice of heaven" and that's a perfect description. My only suggestion for the restaurant is that it might want to lower the lights slightly at night to give the place a little softer ambiance. This place has an expansive menu and serves great food at very reasonable prices. If you are in the general area, don't pass it up.
This is a great place! I stopped in the first night I was in Pendleton, 8/14, partly because I was hungry after travelling all day, and partly to check out the food and atmosphere. It was recommended to me by a lady at the town hall as a good place to have a family lunch gathering after the interment of my mother's ashes Saturday, 8/16. They were about to close but I talked them into bringing me a breaded tenderloin sandwich (what else?) and some fried mushrooms in to-go containers so I could eat part there and take the rest with me. They were nice to do that. I liked the place well enough to go ahead and make a reservation for the family meal. The tenderloin was very good and the mushrooms were fantastic. I've had mushrooms to or three times since then on my trip and these were absolutely the best! On Sat Aug 16th we had a beautiful, meaningful graveside ceremony attended by my brother's family, myself, and a few cousins from both sides of the family who live in the area. Afterwards we went to Sahm's for a family lunch, which fortunately everyone but the pastor was able to attend. There were 11 of us. At first they were going to seat us at two separate tables of 7 and 4. But fortunately, one of my cousins kept saying, "We'll all fit around this table, we don't care if it's a little tight, we want to all sit together." Bless her for that because we DID all squish together around the table they were going to put the 7 at and two sisters were practically on each others' laps but do you know it just made it more fun? It was so great to have the two sides of my family together for what may have been only the fourth time--at my parents' wedding in 1941, at their 50th Anniversary in Dec. 1991, my Dad's services in Dec. 2001, and my Mother's services today. The ambiance couldn't have been more heartwarming and pleasant. Our waitress was fantastic and patient and cheerful, everyone raved about how good the food was and how good the service was, and a good time was had by all. We hated to break it up and leave but eventually we all had to get back to reality. Our waitress made out because I had included a 20% tip on my credit card and several of the others had thrown down money on the table, too. She deserved it for helping us to have such a lovely time, and being flexible about our rearranging of the seating. If I had it to do over again, this is still the place I would choose for this meaningful family gathering. Thank you Sahm's!
We have been here several times for lunch and dinner and are always happy with our food and the service. Convenient location and the food tastes very fresh. Salads are great, as is the meatloaf and chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Very family friendly as well.
